And why wouldn’t she take note of the anniversary? American Idol totally changed her life. She was a 21 year old college student from Oklahoma. Winning Idol not only kicked off a career in country music, but it catapulted her to superstardom!

Check out a few of her American Idol performances here:

Carrie’s audition. She looked so nervous! She called Simon Cowell “scary,” and talked about her “3rd nipple.” She sang “I Can’t Make You Love Me.” Paula was absent that day. Simon and Randy Jackson enthusiastically sent her through to Hollywood.

Carrie’s first performance on the big stage was a hit with the judges.  “Could’ve Been” by Tiffany, during the 1st week of the semi-finals was an odd choice, but it gave the big-voice singer the opportunity to show off her pipes. Simon called her one of the favorites to win the competition.

Carrie busted out a rock song during 80’s week, taking a big risk with “Alone” by Heart. It paid off, the performance was a major moment for the singer.

More in her element, Carrie sang “Independence Day” by Martina McBride for 90’s week.

And here’s Carrie’s winning moment. She cried as she sang one of the worst coronation songs in Idol history, “Inside Your Heaven.”

Carrie has come a long way in the years since she took the crown. The singer has not only released a slew of hit records, but transformed herself from an awkward newbie into a world-class touring performer.  Congrats Carrie, on 10 years, and many more to come!
