Carly Smithson blogged from Charleston SC while visiting her husband’s family at Christmas time. Here’s the followup she promised:

It was so nice to get a break and let my head be empty for a few days. Charleston is such a beautiful city and it killed us to leave .

My brother in law (after six pints of blood) is doing great and returned home before we left for LA so we got to spend some time with him .

It was amazing to visit the Children in MUSC . I didn’t post pictures cause I want to respect the privacy of the kids . We all met in the toy room and hung out together for a bit . I sang for all the kids with my niece and nephew and then took pictures with them after. There were a few that were too weak to leave their rooms so we took a tour with the staff and made sure we got to wish them all Merry Christmas . One little girl broke my heart though. She waited to see me all morning and when I got to her room she had been in too much pain that the doctors gave her morphine. It put her into a deep sleep so her mom asked me to sit beside her and get a photo so she knew we didn’t forget her.

So back to work now after a rocky Christmas but an awesome one too . I’m so excited this week cause I am finally selling my car and buying a new one . As much as I love my car she has served me well and it is time to move on .

Thanks for posting this MJ. The visit to the children’s hospital just shows that Carly is not just a talented singer but a kind and caring person too.

I’m glad she’s back to work on her music cuz I’m very excited for her album.

Damn you, MJ. Every time I see something about these children’s hospitals, I start crying. This was no exception. I cry because these children did absolutely nothing deserving of being there. I cry because my children aren’t there. I guess ultimately I cry because it’s sad.

Oh my the part where Carly talks about the little girl who waited for her made me tear up. :(

That was real nice of her to visit the children at the hospital. :)
