UPDATE: Check out the new video for the single “Bury Me Alive”. Eep. It’s kinda creepy!

Carly Smithson and her band We Are The Fallen played a show at Kings College in London Tuesday Night (March 23).

The band, featuring original Evanescence members Ben Moody (guitar) and John LeCompt (guitar) are back in the States and will embark on a tour beginning Friday night (March 26) in Philadelphia opening for Norwegian hard rock band, H.I.M.

After the jump, the band performs “Bury Me Alive”, “I Am” and a cover of Madonna’s “Like A Prayer”.

Carly is easily the hardest-rocking ex-Idol out there right now. Who would have imagined that while she was competing on Idol?

Carly better take care of her voice on this tour or it is going to go away quickly. The vocal is audibly too low in the mix on the live videos for my taste but I do understand that pounding sound is a big part of the appeal of rock music. Congrats to We Are The Fallen for getting a deal and touring in this terrible time for commercial music.

Carly looks to be putting a bit of her “Idol weight” back on, I first noticed in in the Barracuda video with Cook but it it even more noticeable here, I’d say.

So as a huge Carly fan, I advise: vocal rest, personal trainer and vocal coach in that order to keep yourself in peak condition through this coming set of gigs. Carly is awesome and I look forward to buying the CD next month when it drops.

Edit: Carly’s voice actually sounds better on some of the other videos from the same concert that I found on YouTube.

Wow, I’m glad to see I’m not alone on that! It is kinda cheesy, but if I had the chance, I would have really liked it on the early 2000’s, I firmly believe it wasn’t well promoted.

It is truly great to see her rocking out like this. What a great voice she has. The fact that she is good looking doesn’t hurt either.

I really like Carly’s earlier album too but her voice is raised in pitch on it and most of the material wasn’t really suited for her natural voice. It is Danielle Brisebois/New Radicals material recycled for Carly.
