Nope, Ben was probably wrong hiding so much time and letting Amy took the sound of Evanescence into its 2nd album, now he’s back and took that same sound (his sound BTW), maybe it hasn’t evolved so much, but it’s a winners formula.

Back in those days when Ben Moody left, the battle was just about 2 people, but now we are going to see a battle between 2 musicians that still have some resentment, so let the music speak.

From what I’ve been able to listen to on the link, it is very much an Evanescence kinda thing to it. I’m good with that – I liked them. Though I think Carly has a more bluesy undertone to her voice than Amy. Though I haven’t listened to Evanescence in a while, so I could be off base there.

The problem is that I can hear the distinct influence of Ben Moody, which I adore, but I want Amy Leeà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s voice to it.

What Amy has is a haunting, ethereal quality to her voice that Carly doesn’t. When I heard Carly was performing BMTL on the AI tour, I thought it would end up being be a fantastic cover for her. But, surprisingly it didn’t work for me when I heard it live, for the reason I stated.

I’ve always thought Carly sounds a bit like Grace Slick. And you can hear that creep in at times in this new song.

That being said, she sounded a lot more convincing on the youtube video of the live performance they put on for the press. I have the feeling The Fallen will be one hell of a live act.

They just need to take more care in the studio when they track Carly’s vocals on future songs, and make sure the Grace Slick and Anne Wilson in her isn’t permeating her voice recordings. Because that kind of singing doesn’t work at all for this type of music.

I’m not that familiar with Evanescence, I don’t usually buy this type of rock, usually prefer it bluesy and grooving, or straight ahead classic. But I love Carly’s voice, so this works for me.

As a Carly fan, I think this music suits her, and I’m glad she took this path. As an Evanescence fan, I don’t care for her voice much at all. I like the song. The problem is that I can hear the distinct influence of Ben Moody, which I adore, but I want Amy Lee’s voice to it. The combination of it is what made Evanescence so amazing. Obviously I’m being biased. If I hadn’t been such a huge fan of Evanescence, I would probably be able to enjoy it just fine, but as it is, it’s lacking for me. I much prefer Amy’s voice to Carly’s. *shrug* I’ll buy the album (an actual hard copy) if they ever come out with one, but it’s not something I’d run out to buy right away to be honest. Best of luck to them though!

About the comparissons…where, most of them were Evanescence after all and it’s still Moody’s sound. And Carly’s vocals? They have always been compared to Amy Lee anyway.

I’ll admit it, the one thing that I don’t like about this band, is its name. However, I have a good feeling about their future, I really want Carly to succeed and I wish them the best luck in the world.

Point being: I loved Evanesence. I loved Carly. I now love the Fallen. Who is playing instruments in the background make no difference to me. I love that sound, and Carly has one bad-ass rock voice. I wish her all the best, because I think she got shafted last year.

So was the first big album with these three guys? Did Ben Moody then leave after that first album because Amy Lee wanted to progress? Therefore, are there old Evanescence fans who are waiting for this sound again?

I know I like it a lot!

It will be very interesting to see how it goes from here. I know when I listened earlier, there were 1 thousand some plays and now there are 5 thousand plus plays. I’ll be interested to see how this has increased again tomorrow.

Also interesting to me…This is all happening the day before MJ’s album drops. So how will it bode for each of them…to be continued…lol.

Honestly, I don’t think she “suffers in comparison” to Amy Lee vocally…at all. Carly’s songwriting ability is still an unknown, but maybe she won’t need that in this arrangement.
