De-lurking to offer my apologies to any Theo Tams fans for his B3 status this week - I completely forgot to vote! *hangs head in shame* I was working a night shift, so I missed the show, and I feel like an idiot for not remembering to check online for his phone # as I still had time to cast a few votes...

I stumbled upon a site with mp3s of CI performances and will share the link as a peace offering, LOL.

Mark Day gone - finally. That was long overdue. His performance this week was a trainwreck, and he has not been very good in the competition.

maryannaflapjack, CI viewership in Toronto is down compared to last year (although it has rebounded a bit from the start of this season) but there are still a lot of people who watch in this region and they do cast votes.

People often refer to Toronto as a single city of 2.5 million people - 5 million if you include the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). However, ità ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s really a concentrated grouping of many communities (including mine), each with populations in the hundreds of thousands. But being in such close proximity to each other and to downtown Toronto, I donà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t think there is as great a sense of local community as there may be in more outlying towns and cities. Thereà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s more going on in Toronto, more distractions and competing entertainment options, hence why CI is not at the top of local TV ratings. Also, being surrounded by millions of other people could make you think that lots of other folks must be voting for the local kid(s) so you donà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t need to bother.

While I would rank Mookie in my top 4, he's not my top pick or even second pick. I'm sure many in the GTA would feel the same. For some folks, Drew is their top choice. I actually voted for him in one of the earlier voting rounds but I would rank him 5th now behind Theo, Amberly, Earl and Mookie. It's kind of amusing to read comments about Drew's home town support as being the reason he has avoided the bottom 3 so far. Drew's home town is Collingwood which has a population just over 17,000. I suppose if every person in town able to use a phone were to power-vote for him... but even so, communities have only so many outgoing phone lines and that limitation tends to reduce the effect of power-voting.

Mitch does not have the same support base that Mark does, if you're trying to lump their local support together. Regional support decreases the more distant and tenuous the relationship between viewer and competitor is. Mitch and Mark have totally different musical styles. Just because they both come from Maritime provinces doesn't mean their respective fan bases would automatically transfer support after one of them is eliminated. Maritimers have the same wide range of music tastes as the rest of Canada. They have their share of Hedley and Simple Plan fans as well as folks who appreciate Jason Mraz or flock to concerts for U2, Coldplay, Anne Murray and Nickelback.

That was shocking, but it's not like one of the top contestants went home early. Mark's gone, and all good there. A couple of people who were in danger of overconfidence got a wake-up call. Their fans did too. What's that leave us? A little drama as we come down to the wire, and that's cool.

I don't think Mookie has inherited Sebastian's cute-vote. Remember, they're both Toronto boys. Maybe there are a few Torontonians who watch and vote after all.

Mitch has the same Maritimer support that Mark did. Will they transfer to him? If so, things look bleak! I don't think he'll pick up a huge percentage of the east coast though. I can see Mookie appealing to the kinda idiosyncratic maritimer, y'know? (I can hope.)

There's a certain logic for Theo and Earl being in the bottom 3 this week. People who have more than one favourite may have thought both of them to be safe as neither has previously appeared in the B3. More people may have been inspired to vote for Amberly and Mookie because having been in the B3, they are seen as vulnerable. And yes, whatever regional support Theo and Earl have would be split 3 ways along with Amberly.

So why do Mitch and Drew continue to do so well? Ità ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s a huge mystery to me.

movin2thabeet, despite not having been in the bottom 3, Mitch and Drew still get a lot of negative critiques from the judges. Fans might still perceive them as being vulnerable for elimination and would therefore not want to risk voting for a second favourite. Drew also got the biggest audience reaction for his performance this week so I'm sure that's reflected in viewer votes as well.

Still, I shake my head at the thought that Mookie is getting the à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“hottieà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ votes now that Sebastian is gone. If thatà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s the case, it reinforces my belief, yet again, that I have NO IDEA what women want.

marco5ny, I think Drew has inherited the "hottie" votes this week, after getting the haircut and beard-trimming. :) And lots of folks comment on Mitch's cute factor so I'm sure he's getting his share of "hottie" votes too.

Hmm, I am surprized to see Theo in the B3. Earl, not so much. I have only liked his "sitting with guitar" performances. And this week seemed to be worse than all of his other "standing without guitar" performances.

Theo needed to do something different to get out the Archuleta box. But maybe he should have waited until he gets two songs in one week. Then he could still do the wheelhouse song but also do a riskier number.

Anyway, I'm glad that Theo is sticking around and hopefully from this point on, fans will pick a favorite because the further you get into the competion, you really need to pick your absolute favorite and not assume that that person will be safe. This week kind of proved that for me.

Like they say in real estate- it's location, location, location...

Obviously it takes more than that to continue to last (or win), but if you have rabid hometown/area voting combined with other fans you are golden.

Well, looking at the bright spots here, Mark had one of the coolest, most gracious exits ever. And Theo and Earl got a big wake up call to shake off any thoughts of inevitability. I am especially disappointed in Theo's presence in the bottom as I thought he was the strongest of the night and I felt left the most on the stage. Are people not interested in seeing the contestants branch out? I know I am grateful for it.

The judges and a good part of the listeners believe the Top 4 should be Earl, Theo, Mookie and Amberly. So why do Mitch and Drew continue to do so well? It's a huge mystery to me. One possible explanation is that people like some combination of that group of 4 so split their votes between them. And its likely that Mitch and Drew fans are only voting for them. So in the end, they get a larger portion of the votes. If it was Mitch, Drew and one vote for the 4, I'm sure the 4 would dominate. I guess that means that people voting for the 4 need to either spend more time voting or choose a favorite and take your chances. I'm in a US border town and can't vote. Sure wish I could.

Haven't been that surprised or disappointed at who has been voted off the show so far. But like many here I do feel a bit surprised that Drew and Mitch are the only two to never have been in the bottom three. I think it gets pretty interesting at this point going forward.

Other than the fans here, I don't really have perspective about the voting patterns for the show. Still, I shake my head at the thought that Mookie is getting the "hottie" votes now that Sebastian is gone. If that's the case, it reinforces my belief, yet again, that I have NO IDEA what women want.

Big Wup, Mark should have been gone 6 weeks ago. I do think that Mitch deserved the boot after that assault on our ears however. I don't understand who is voting for him, I just don't get this show.

I'm frustrated that I ever started watching, it was so great until all my favs disappeared and now I have no interest in who wins, no fun!

I'm somewhat pleased that Mookie wasn't in the bottom though.

well, Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢m really, really glad Mookie wasnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t in the bottom 3 this week, sad that Earl and Theo were, and surprised by Mitchà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s popularity.

I enjoyed Tom Jones as well, haha.

I feel the same way about everything you said.

I don't get why Mitch is still there honestly. It was indeed shocking to see Theo in the bottom 3 and Mitch safe! That made no sense at all! Even though it was indeed Mark's time, he did leave with a lot of class. I hope next week will be Mitch's week to hit the road, but I'm not getting my hopes up. lol

WTF happened? I vote for Mookie and two of my guys almost get sent off.

I am reverting back to an even vote split next week, since this is making me nervous ( they have to be top three!)

I'm done.

I don't care for Theo, but no effing way did he deserve bottom over Mitch. Not pleased with Earl in the bottom three at all. At least Mookie was safe.
