Bucky Covington and Shooter Jennings premiere their new “Drinking Side Of Country” music video from Bucky’s new album “Good Guys” due September 11, 2012. Bucky cowrote the song (his new single) with his twin brother Rocky Covington and Donald “Ducky” Medlock.

Watch out for a cameo from Bucky’s fellow American Idol season 5 alum, Kellie Pickler. She also happens to be the cover girl for this month’s Maxim special salute to the military issue.

I think Bucky may have missed a couple of backwater hick cliches in the creation of this video. Actually. No he didn’t. Drinking. Check. GUNS. Check. Hot scantily clad girls CHECK CHECK CHECK CHECK. Cops hot on their trail. CHECK. It’s Dukes of Hazzard redid.

Check it out below.

A+ post first of all, I LOLd.

I kind of like this song. Yes, it’s definitely Dukes of Hazzard redid in the video but the melody and lyrics are solid. It’s a fun song. Hit song? I don’t know if Bucky’s label can pull it off but they’re smart to milk publicity out of the video to try to give it a chance.

I love Bucky’s aw shucks kind of charm, but this video falls flat for me. I know it’s supposed to be a light-hearted shout out to the good ol boys, but it’s too literal to be funny.

WTF did I just watch here? How much money did they spend on the production of the video (I am not even going to mention the song quality), a hundred bucks for the booze? A cat running over a keyboard could have produced a better video… hopefully. Is that really all an Idol stint sets you up for? Bucky definitely seemed smarter to me than this…

Which is why, I’m not really impressed.

LOL.  I enjoyed it.  Also good to see Kellie and Bucky do something fun together.  Although, I had to wonder if there’s a Maxim tie in somehow?

Full disclosure… I saw Bucky on his first post Idol tour in a small club in Chicago.  So much fun.  I think somewhere in MJ’s archives, I wrote a review.  ;-)
