Brooke White’s Single Climbs to #7 on iTunes, Kelly Clarkson Appears on Idol March 11, and Jason, March 4 (Rumor Has It)

Yay I’m so happy for Brooke =)

I think Jason’s single will do well on iTunes too as he has a more rabid fanbase than Brooke. I think he may even reach the top 5. We’ll see. I think it’s very smart of them to use their AI guestings to good use, bravo.

As weird and off-putting much of this season has been, I love Idol for bringing on both Brooke and Jason to help promote their singles. (Though it is a stark reminder of how great last year’s top 10 was, and how weak this year’s bunch is turning out to be.)

And I look forward to everything Kelly does. This is no exception.

Pretty much yay for all of this! As much as I don’t like AI in a lot of ways, I really do like them bringing back the past Idols and giving them a platform to get some of their new music out.

In a way, MJ and Carly got screwed. It was still great promotion for them to appear on the show again, but at least Brooke and Jason are getting a chance to do their own music. Also while I suppose a lot depends on how Jason’s performance goes on Wed., I can’t imagine his single not doing well, at least from the initial Idol bump. He was usually one of the top sellers among the Idols last season.

Also excited for Kelly!

Yay for Brooke! It was so great to see her again. I also wonder why she didn’t get signed. I loved her folksy singer-songwriter vibe last year.

Her performance and the MJ/Carly performance from last week are the only times I’ve actually tuned in this year. I love the Season 7 peeps. Looking forward to Jason next week, too.

Just bought Brooke’s song (thanks for the link) and I’m so happy for her. I’m not really sold on the song, but I love her voice.

I’m also not thinking it would have been a great idea for 19 to sign her. Yeah, her sound is hot right now, but I’m not sure they would be able to market her correctly. I think she’s better off going indie.

Are we sure Jason is on next week? I can’t wait to buy his song. His recording voice is love. Still waiting on the soundtrack, too.

Well, Carly got screwed. She was the 6th placer. She should’ve given the performance slot alone and have her sing one of those songs on her demo to get her more attention.

I doubt they’d have her guest twice in one season though. Especially since the finals performance slots are mostly reserved for the big named recording stars. Well, Bo and Elliott guested on the finals…but they didn’t already guest earlier in the season.

That sucks that Kelly isn’t mentoring because I think that would be pretty cool since she did so for Canadian Idol. It’s probably because they want to introduce the contestants more and don’t have time to show all that filming.

I can’t wait for all the Kelly Clarkson promotion coming soon!

I think that MJ and Carly got screwed a little bit. Not only did they not get featured as solo artists, they got to sing an old song that no one can download (which didn’t feature their music). So much sadfacing.

So happy for Brooke, can’t wait to see Jason again, and in a way, i thought Michael and Carly shouldn’t have performed on AI this season in the first place. They should’ve waited until they have new materials to show it to the world, then they should perform it on idol.

Actually, the live performance is the shortened version of the song. The studio version is a bit longer, and it doesn’t end abruptly, like in her live version. Anyway, an opinion is an opinion and I respect it.

Not a fan of Brooke during her season but I liked the song. It fit her perfectly and I’m not surprised it’s doing well. And she should feel great because this is one of the biggest jumps I’ve seen a new song get from AI.

I think Brooke benefits alot by the comparsion to S8. I haven’t heard one thing done by contestants that I’d want to buy on iTunes. In the past that wasn’t true.

I just bought Brooke’s song. I love it. I always support the Idol performers since they gave us such entertaining moments on AI.

Aww.. I thought Kelly will be mentoring since Simon mentioned about wanting younger mentors on the show a few weeks (or months?) back (although I’m not a huge fan of Kelly’s).

I’m happy for Brooke. I like her song, but I’m surprised to see how well it caught on.

Of course it would have been better for Michael and Carly to perform when they had some new material out, but according to Michael, they weren’t even originally scheduled to perform live on the show at all. He said Ken Warwick felt bad that their Hollywood Week mentoring bit wasn’t shown, so they were asked to perform. That’s why they didn’t have any new material and they sang “The Letter” again.

Hearing any rumors that Taylor may be on March 18th?

I’m not surprised that Brooke is doing so well – the song is very pretty and it kinda grows on you with repeat listens. I guess since this is self-released, she’s getting most of the moolah, right?

I’ve watched the video of Jason singing “Love Uncompromised” on that TV guide show on castrocopia – I was surprised – first time I’ve heard it – it sounds good – very catchy. I hope he does have the chance to sing on Idol…

Completely and utterly bummed that Michael didn’t get to do his original music. It’s soooooo good. At least he (and Carly) were good sports about it.

On a much lighter note, at least very pretty Jason will be on my tv soon (hopefully).

It’s nice that they’re having everyone back, but Brooke, Jason, MJ, and Carly don’t even have albums out. How can they promote albums that aren’t complete? Why is idol having them on so early?

Either way, I really hope they allow Melinda and Elliott to come soon. Especially Melinda- he album is fantastic and she really needs the promo.

Idol isn’t obligated to promote any of them so I think it’s nice of them to give them ANY exposure right about now. Having them on early is better than not having them at all. It’s obviously done wonders for Brooke. Even if she can’t promote her album on there the exposure for her single had to help her tons. I still think the Michael/Carly appearance was useless as for as promo but at least it gave the AI audience a reminder of who they are.

I’m also thrilled to see Kelly. I think it’s great that she continues to come back and be associated with the show. She seems pretty grounded and that she hasn’t forgotten where she came from, which is wonderful to see.

As for Carly and MJ, I think they should consider themselves lucky that AI invited them back at all. They don’t typically have people back that finish outside of the top 4 or 5 (certainly not 8th).

The reason 19E passed on Brooke is simple. They knew she was an significant investment and not a quick buck potential.

There was no way Brooke would allow an album to be released so fast like Kristy Lee was. They wanted something fast to hold people until the Davids were released, and that backfired big time.

I think it’s also, these first three weeks at least, they’re not going to book big name acts for the semifinal rounds on the little stage. If anything, I think it’s nice of Idol to have the S7 folks on, but it’s also cheap entertainment for them. Comparatively, I’m sure they don’t have to pay them all that much and of course they are going to jump at the chance since they are in the process of working on albums.

Brooke is better off not signing with 19. She would have been miserable in a KLC type situation.

I was actually thinking they might try to fit that in at the same week. His tour is on the east coast and he’s flying to LA to shoot the video, so it makes sense to use the LA time to fit in an Idol appearance too (or at least shoot one). I have to admit I’m not sure how long it might take to finish his parts of the video or how much time he’d need to rehearse for Idol. Possibly it’s too much to fit into two days.
In any case I’m pretty sure CBTM will debut on Idol sometime close to the add date.

Yup, I didn’t like it right away when I first listened to it. It’s the kind of song that will grow on you with repeat listens.

And this is why I think they’ll have David on March 18th. His single is going for adds on March 17th and he’s going to be in LA by then. Either that or the week after that one.

I’m really happy that Brooke and Jason are getting to perform on Idol. They are part of the reason Season 7 was so great. It looks like idol is putting more efforts this season into promoting past contestants rather than artists trying to make a comeback, which is good. I think that Brooke sounded lovely performing but I found the song a tad old-fashioned (and not in a cool retro way). I really hope that she had the opportunity to pair up with some current songwriters.

Don’t care for Brooke’s song , but I like the one with Michael “Life is Okay” Wow….she sounds beautiful.

Jason I hear a snoozefest a coming

Jason Castro was on the TVGuide channel Idol Wrap show this weekend. He sang a new single. I wasn’t a big Jason fan (maybe because of the goofy persona), but I have to say I really liked the song. I think he said he is on the show next week, and is in final negotiations for a record deal right now.

I hope the Jason rumor is true! I miss him on my teevee. I haven’t had the opportunity to go and listen to the song from the tv guide show yet. I’m sure I’ll love it! LOL.

The deal with Jason, as to the best of my knowledge, is he will be on this week. However the info went out too early via his website/street team and for whatever stupid reason, AI didn’t want the info publicized before Monday. So they retracted their news as did most of his major fansites in compliance with AI and his management. But as Kim also said it on Idol Wrap, I don’t think it’s exactly a big secret.

I still have yet to buy Brooke’s. I know, bad fan.

I’m assuming Jason will perform with Dave Lichens (guy on Idol Wrap) on Idol. Maybe this was a test run since I think generally the other times the song has been performed it has been with a whole plugged in band. I do like them together, so as long as the mic levels are right it should be fine. Then again I’m not sure AI ever got Jason’s mic levels right last season.

Go Brooke. I guess we’ll never understand why 19Alphabet didn’t sign her. It did seem like she was well liked by the show producers. Hm, but I am very glad they invited her back to the show and let her perform/debut her new single. Best of luck to her. She had so many fans and a unique sound. What a great way to debut her single and her post AI career.

And I think it was awfully nice of AI to invite Carly and MJ. I don’t recall them having any other contestants from Season 6 on Season 7 besides the winner and runner up. MJ and Carly were 8 and 6 out of the Top 10. KLC wasn’t invited, which was telling. Good thing is that both MJ and Carly got some press off it, and hopefully it will help people remember them when their stuff comes out later in the year.

I can’t wait for Kelly to come on or the Davids – that’ll be awesome.

I also saw Jason on Idol Wrap. I thought he did pretty well and the song suits him although not all that catchy. He also did well in the part where they talk about the contestants and that’s something when you look at how uncomfortable he was talking on the show last season.

Jason’s song is ZzZzzZzZ. But, I dont mind him on my TV screen. I miss those beautiful blue eyes of his.

It will be so good to see Jason on my TV set again. I do miss him! It was great seeing Brooke perform and reminded me how much I loved Season 7. I wonder if I will get that attached to any of the contestants from Season 8? I definitely want to see some more of Anoop.

Unfortunately, the return of MJ and Carly was a major disappointment. They just didn’t sing that well.

Jason was wonderful on Idol Wrap, I got to watch it twice. I really like the song and I hope he is on this wed. Someone said that this shows how weak this years Idols are, or something like this, compared to last year. At this time last year I had not a clue how awesome Jason and Cook were going to be so I do have some hope that there is a whole lot of awesomeness in this new batch toooooo!!!

Maybe they want to please Marly fans? But I love Michael and Brooke’s duet Life Is Ok, and I hope to see them perform it together live, someday.
