Rhu Rho. According to TMZ and other eye witnesses, Britney Spears walked off the set of the XFactor. It was her first day on the job. The auditions are being held today in Austin TX

Britney Spears walked off the set of “X Factor” moments ago … and according to several people in the audience, she was upset after a contestant butchered her song, “Hold It Against Me.”

Britney did not come back immediately … and four contestants auditioned in front of the remaining judges … and an empty seat.

Someone connected with the show tells us Britney was not upset over the song — and that she “Just needed a break.”

The show is currently on a break — so we don’t know if or when she will return to her seat.

Honestly, It’s well known that Britney has mental health issues. If she has a meltdown, Simon Cowell and his need for spectacle are to blame.

UPDATEMark Malkin tweets that Britney is back: “second taping has begin. britney spears is back. and she just got booed for gushing over someone who didn’t sing very well.”

@la_reid just playfully told the crowd they can’t boo

At least, Britney is still a superstar and is successful in the business.  I can see her being a pretty good judge using her experience.

I don’t understand how Demi Lovato can be a good judge at all.  She doesn’t seem like she has much good experience to help the older vocalists or groups.

Since he already had one young girl judge with Britney, Simon should’ve picked the other person who is seasoned, or has group experience.  Plus Demi isn’t that big of a star.

Its weird, apparently there were no hosts today.

and so it begins…  the media friendly ‘controversies’ to keep X Factor in the public eye…

this is par for the course here in the UK, where the auditions have also just kicked off, but with only 3 perm judges (Barlow, Walsh and Tulisa) and guest judges for each audition city… Geri H (aka Ginger Spice) did the 1st one in Liverpool earlier in the week…

so the media hype here is all about who else will be a guest judge, should Geri be a perm judge, if not her then who etc….

Good thing they got Demi in there. At 20, she’s more honest and open than Britney, and she won’t walk off the set.

Well Simon wants the drama to bring eyes to the show. I didn’t watch last year, but I would probably tune into watch this.

I, too, think it is fantastic that Britney has gotten “help” and is “working” on keeping herself balanced but her problems aren’t the kind that can be cured.  Sure, medication helps a lot, but medication also has its own side affects and that also has to be dealt with.

None of us “know” what the “cause” was for Britney to leave her assigned post but she obviously did…and the fact the show went on says that whatever she did it wasn’t scheduled or pre-planned.

I don’t think many are “blaming” Britney for anything…I think the majority are more concerned with her ability to stay focused….tough to do when your mind can race at warp speed.  The issue, as I see it, is that “anything” these two girls do will be used as fodder for Simon and he will take every advantage of them to get publicity and noteriety for his show.

And, as an aside, I think Simon’s mind may have just as many problems as Britney and Demi (I just drew a blank on her name, interesting)…somehow it never hones in on human compassion.

    I already miss Paula.

4 auditions = maybe 10 – 15 minutes. How many times have we seen judges walk off during Idol auditions that were weird and they milked it?

I think this is mostly hype.

NO No No! She gets paid $15M..show some professionalism. This is not a child play.

EXACTLY, MJ. She gets paid $15M, its time for her to grow up and show some professionalism or butt off!!!

I agree so strongly with those here who are saying she is unprofessional and is being coddled.  If her mental problems are so bad that she can’t handle such an easy job, then she shouldn’t be doing it. Simple as that. If she chooses to do it, and get all that money, don’t ask me to give her a special pass due to any mental illnes.

Paula missed some auditions, and maybe Simon. I can’t recall anyone leaving an audition and not coming back, though. I don’t care who does it. It’s still unprofessional.

Maybe she had to do #3 or something. Good grief. She’s an adult, shouldn’t be required to have issue a press release for every bowel movement.

If I was Brittney, I would have walked out half way during the hiring process. I loved the UK version until they ruined it, The US version is just bad.
