Why would any indie label sign this tool? I heard he registered his own production company. Maybe that’s it.

The song he had up was How Many Words and I found it catchy so I downloaded it (wasn’t so crazy about most of the others).

Blake was one of my daughters favorites so I got the cd for her and ended up loving it myself. Some of my favorites are tools, but the music is good. I wish him success.

I don’t think Blake needs to take PR lessons from anyone. Why should he? Just so he can be fake like so many other celebrities out there? I like Blake’s honesty. It is refreshing. I admire him for not giving up and continuing to pursue his dreams.

Count me in as excited for the tour and looking forward to new music. Blake has worked hard, and I hope the new label is a good fit.

Plus, he gets bonus points from me for adopting the pup from a shelter and promoting that on his MS.

I think Blake could def use some PR lessons. Since his personality is quite icky, he’d be better off hiding it. On the other hand, I don’t buy music just from the “good” guys. Some real bastards can make great music. While his music isn’t my thing. I think the tour and label should work for him. Good luck, Blake.

I know for a fact that Constantine was at Croc Rock in Allentown (one of Blake’s stops)…I didn’t go, but he was there.

While I always watched idol, I didn’t get into the blogs and online stuff until this year. So I’m a little lost; what did Blake say/do to make him have an “icky” personality? Personally, I wanted him to win last year. His “You Give Love a Bad Name” was perhaps one of the most memorable Idol performances for me.

And now I’m looking forward to his new single and hopefully a new label that will fully support him and promote his music which Arista did not do. Blake losing his record deal, his fans, his looks and talent (if there is to begin with) has nothing to do with him dissing David, beating up Sanjaya, accusing Cook, or slamming Jason. Idol fans didn’t do that to him. He did it to himself.

Blake has opened his mouth more than once and he has pissed off not just the Archies but also the Fanjayas for locking Sanjaya in a closet on tour or something? He was also pissed that Sanjaya made it so far in the competition, lol. There were some radio interviews that were less than desirable from Blake. He has the tendency to put his foot in his mouth and it comes off as being a bit arrogant but that’s Blake. Blake equals brutally honest and I am totally ok with that, to a point. He was really different when he was on idol.

I have A.D.D and I love it and I will continue to buy his music if it is good. I try not to take his comments too seriously. I know I have like some bands in the past that are totally cocky and absurdly rude but it’s all good. It is all a part of the music biz.

Blake lost his record deal because he wasn’t with Jive, lol. All the promos in the world isn’t going to get you anywhere if the radio stations won’t play your jam. He got screwed because the album is actually pretty damn good. He may lose some fans but he will pick up new ones, the music will speak for itself.

Blake Lewis is a talented, creative singer and musician with a distinctive sound who put out a very good but underappreciated album. With a new label, a new single, and a tour coming up, it looks like he’s doing OK. I’m looking forward to his new work and already have tickets for one of his shows. Good for him for being such a hard worker and having the confidence to pursue what he wants.

I think not getting airplay was only part of his problem. I seem to remember his first single had embarassingly bad first week numbers (I think like 10,000 maybe?) so chances are for whatever reason his fanbase already dwindled quite a bit by then. Then he started shooting his mouth off and made things worse for himself. I don’t really buy the notion that he got NO publicity. Like mentioned above he played that Fox New Years special and got to premiere a single on AI. I know he did the talk show circuit because I remember seeing him on Jimmy Kimmel and Ellen and I was cringing watching his performances as he spazzed all over the stage.

Listening to Blake’s music is like being stuck in the 80′s.. electronica.. beat boxing.. ay way.

He has a decent singing voice.. I wish he would just sing and not spazz out. From the interviews he’s had or that i’ve heard.. he is kind of an a$$, but i’m not too interested in him to care.

Kanye has said a lot of stuff that made me cringe, groan and want to screm “STFU, Kanye!” BUT that never ever made me stop listening to his music because I still think he’s a brilliant music artist.

In my opinion, Blake isn’t talented enough to have the luxury of running his mouth off or being brutally “honest” (insert eye roll) and “forthright” (double eye roll).

What offends people when an Idol insults and attacks another Idol is that it feels like a family member hurting another family member. Considering they’re all in the same boat they should at LEAST show some respect towards each other.

Also, in an industry where most hate American Idol contestants or at the very most grudgingly tolerate them (well the ones that make them money), when you trash other Idols and the show you essentially trash yourself.

I think Blake thought he could disassociate himself from the brand and gain some street cred with his antics; but he needs to accept that American Idol will be permanently tattooed on his a$$ until the day he dies.

Time will tell how Blake fares in the post-Idol world. Same as for all Idol contestants.

I can appreciate that sentiment. But, my feeling is that once the Idols leave the show, all bets are off. They step out of the Idol bubble and into the real world. I mean, Kimberley Locke said Jason Castro is as dumb as a box of rocks, and while I’m a Jason Castro fan, and I think her statement is stupid, I still can appreciate her singing ability.

I happen to think Blake is talented. Not Kanye-level talented, of course, not even close. But what Idol is? And anyway, I don’t think speaking one’s mind should be a right reserved only for musical geniuses, IMHO.

There’s been lots of Idols dissing Idols in the show’s history, that’s nothing new. It keeps covering the program interesting, that’s for sure.

Oh, Blake. LOL. I actually think he’d be just fine signed to a smaller label and storming the dance scene. I see him more as a producer-type anyway. I thought he’d be like One Republic – one popular album, off to write/produce for other people after that. Alas, it wasn’t meant to be. Proving I don’t know what the hell I am talking about. Hee. His album was good, but it was a little too off the track for these major label types IMO. You know they don’t know what to do with anyone too different, especially if they come off Idol. No one wants to come up with a whole new marketing strategy or grow any non-traditional audiences for an Idol. 1. There’s not enough time for all that and 2. They want a quick buck. He’s creative though, he should be fine in the long run.

I wasn ´t dissing Blake, since I didn ´t even had follow his carear, but since I ´m new to the world of AI I just know him as last year runner up who was dropped by his label… but my point of view is that no mather how talented you are if you are new in the bussines is sometimes better to take a humble approach and actitude toward media, and at the moment to criticized another artist (doesn ´t matter if this is part of the AI family or not)… by example Jordin, Gina and other Idols from previous seasons said that they will choose Cook over Archuleta, if I remember well A.J. and Yamin said that they will like Archie, to win but they always were very respectful about it…Cook is a good example of a correct behaivoir, when he had said something that migh offend someone he has taked the first step to correct it…

Heh. I think it’s OTT, but knock your socks off. He’s fair game. For the record, I never said that being “brutally honest” is a trait that should be admired. In fact, I think Blake’s foot in mouth disease has caused him some harm. Not to the extent some believe, but I know he’s turned some people off. However, in my world, that doesn’t make him a bad guy. It just makes him human.

I’m a huge Jason fan, and I guess he said something about Jason (alluded to above… funny how I don’t even know all of Blake’s faux pas, but people who don’t like him do)? I seriously doubt it was a personal attack, but a personal preference. They’re miles apart musically. And honestly, I don’t need Blake’s to like all the same artists I do and I’m not offended if he doesn’t.

At the risk of coming across as an apologist for Blake Lewis, which is not my intention, I do think there have been quite a few interviews in which he did express himself politely and respectfully. There have also been some in which he did not. I don’t like everything he does musically but overall I enjoy what he creates. IMO, an artist regardless of their genre puts their work on display and thatà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s what ultimately draws a positive or negative response from viewers or listeners. If they also happen to be entertaining, all the better. If they ruffle a few feathers, who in this world hasnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t? If someone happens to become wildly successful, great. I can not stand Blake Lewis. On the show, I thought he had no talent at all in the voice department. Everyone kept saying “No!!! He’ll do well!!! He’ll make top 3 and then go on to make a great record.” Well I felt pretty stupid when he made top 2. haha but his record sucked and he was dropped within 9 months and now he is desperately touring the country pretending that getting dropped from a major record label was a “good idea”. But at least he’s doing better than his washed up friend Chris Richardson, who seems to have floated into space.

I’m rooting for Blake. I hope his new stuff bears a little more resemblance to his pre-Idol music. IMO the cuts on his album suffered from being homogeneized for mass consumption.
