Billboard Update 04/21/07

This week’s AWESOME American Idol Billboard Update.

The Highlights:

  • The Idols bounce back this week after nearly all of them–except for Carrie Underwood–had decreased sales.   Taking a look at the Soundscan numbers, Daughtry is up 48.1%, Carrie Underwood 37.5%, Katharine McPhee 17.4% and Kellie Pickler 40.9%.
  • Bucky Covington’s single “Different World” is headed to the Hot Country Singles & Tracks Top 20, it’s up 2 spots–from #27 to #25 this week.   His debut album drops THIS TUESDAY.   If you’d like to hear a preview, check it out at Clear Channel Music.com.
  • Elliott  Yamin still holds on to the #1 spot on the Top Independent Albums chart.   Elliott will embark on a club tour shortly, maybe to a city near you.
  • Carrie Underwood’s single “Wasted” is the #1 song on the Hot Country Singles and Tracks chart.   It’s her third #1 hit from her debut album “Some Hearts”.   Carrie is the first artist since the Dixie Chicks to pull three #1 songs from a debut album. Congrats Carrie…
  • Daughtry’s hit single “It’s Not Over” holds on to it’s #1 position on the Top Adult 40 chart for the 8th week in a row, while the band’s new single “Home” enters the chart at #30.
  • Fantasia’s new single “When I See U” enters the Billboard Hot 100 at #99.
  • Taylor Hicks’ single “Just to Feel That Way” earns Billboard’s “Airpower” designation as it enters the Hot Adult Contemporary Tracks chart Top 20.
