This shouldn’t surprise anyone, top 40//Rhythmic radio listeners buy more music than anyone else.  They are followed by Top 40/Mainstream listeners, Urban, Hot AC, Rock, Urban AC, Classic Rock, and last AC.

    Some demographics:

Among those who frequently purchase CD’s and downloaded music, 49% are female, while 51% are male. Furthermore, 46.6% are between the ages of 25 and 44 and 67% are between the ages of 18 and 44.

It’s been noted in previous Numbers threads that the New York and LA HAC stations aren’t playing “Home.”  But in the thread on Phillip’s album being delayed until Jan.-Feb., he’s interviewed by (and performs for) a DJ from NY’s WPLJ.  Does that mean that station will probably now be adding “Home” to its rotation?  WPLJ was still shown as not having added it as of last week’s reports.  Seems odd to interview an artist whose songs you don’t play, so hopefully this is a good sign for “Home” being on the airwaves in NY soon.  That DJ sure seemed like a P2 fan!

Seems odd to interview an artist whose songs you don’t play

It happens all of the time, and not just to idol alums.  I think that Z100 had Adam in twice, but never played either single.

Stations like to show their listeners that they can land interviews with artists.

Yesterday, Z100 also tweeted Phillip a link to Philip’s performance.  He was the only one who received that treatment, which makes sense, since the station would never play Joshua or Colton’s music.  But, who knows if that means that the station will eventually add Home, and play it with any regularity.

I’m not surprised at top 40/rhythmic listeners buying the most music since it’s basically the most heard music on radio stations.

I am surprised that the country genre is not on the list. I know most of the ok country singers don’t sell that much. But I thought the big country stars like Taylor, Jason, Lady A, etc. would be enough to balance it out so the genre is at least on the list.
