    I didn’t notice until now that Skylar’s EP was in the country chart officially.  Now that’s 5 Idols in the Country Album category with Casey J, Lauren, Scotty, & Carrie.  Not bad!  

    Maybe that supports adding a “country” judge like Brad…  Or, that Randy’s a better judge of country music than people gave him credit for since he’s the only judge that’s been there for all 5 idols.

    2011 “American Idol” sixth-place finalist Casey Abrams notches his first entry on a Billboard genre airplay chart, as “Get Out” (Concord/CMG) debuts on Adult Contemporary at No. 27. The song is the first single from his self-titled debut album, which opened atop Heatseekers Albums three weeks ago and has sold 10,000 copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The set from the 21-year-old Texas-born singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist includes appearances by Jamie Cullum and Abrams’ “Idol” co-contestant Haley Reinhart.

    Idols on the country genre have found success in varying degrees,with Carrie heading the list.They are either promoting albums,on the road opening for other country artists or headlining , doing guest appearances on TV and helping out with charity. I hope Skylar will soon be seen with an album to promote. Other Idols on the pop and rock genre are not doing so great,with some being dropped by their record label which is really sad.

    Congrats to Scotty making the top 40 with WTT.

    Even if the song doesn’t chart any higher, he will have 2 top 20 songs & 1 top 40 song off his debut album which is a great accomplishment. Many Idol alums would be happy with that same success.

    They messed up the add date, IMO. WMYB was still rising when some stations started playing OT and Columbia just gave it an add date. So stations started adding OT, but at the same time, WMYB was still gaining. 

    I doubt Columbia will try to save OT, One Direction are recording their next album to be released this fall. We could have their new single released in September, so there’s just no time.

    Casey’s actually gotten a decent amount of publicity considering the label he’s on and his genre of music. I’ve seen several newspaper articles/interviews, videos, and 19 has been pimping the heck out of him on twitter.

    Interscope announced today that “Haley Reinhart’s Free will be featured on SYTYCD for the rest of the season” . That’s great and all but I hope this doesn’t mean a delay for a second single.

    One Thing didn’t perform that well in the UK either, so I doubt that it’s just the add date that’s the problem. 

    For my tastes, the song just isn’t as earwormy as WMYB.  It doesn’t take a lot of listens to get their first single stuck in your head, and while One Thing is good, and a copy of another popular song, it just doesn’t stand up to WMYB.

    Well in general singles that are released off albums that are already available, don’t sell that well in the UK. Obviously, nothing touches WMYB.
