    “Top 40 crossover pop, and pop rhythmic hits, now look good all the way up to and including 40 to 44 year old women, but they fall apart around 45 and are replaced by preferences for 70s and 80s hits. Two years ago, that generational ‘fault line’ was closer to age 40, but now it’s closer to 45.”

    Wow that is some really interesting information, thanks for bringing it over!

    More evidence that the shift in HAC, which targets 25-45 year old women mostly, is more about changing demographics preferences than anything else.

    Ah, but are you choosing your friends based on their ability to provide a statistically random sample or because you consider them charming and fun people?

    I think there’s a distinction between dismissing all women over 45 as not liking new music, versus recognizing that many people over 45 prefer the sounds of their youths and formatting one’s commercial radio station to deal with a fairly widespread consumer preference.

    Someone at UK Mix posted a list of the most streamed songs.  People complain about radio stations playing the same songs all of the time, but the top of the list looks just like the mediabase and Billboard Pop and Hot AC chart.
