Billboard – Chart Date 12/08/12

As we all know, there are approximately 56,111 Billboard charts. This is a summary of just some of those charts and how the Idols/AGTers did on them this week. Please feel free to post rankings from your favourite BB chart or any other numbers you care to share. This is the daily numbers thread. The date in the header is the published chart date.

This week, Phil Phillips tops the Rock Album chart with “The World From the Side of the Moon”. His coronation song (and lead single) “Home” tops the Rock Digital Songs and AAA Airplay charts. The song was also the Streaming Gainer on the Hot 100.

Cassadee Pope was the Hot Shot Debut on the Hot 100, Digital Songs and Country Songs charts. Carrie was the Digital Gainer on the Country songs chart for “Two Black Cadillacs”.

Who has been sitting at HAC 1 position?
Phillip has been at 2 for so long. Is it too much to ask to let him touch 1 position once before it starts losing any more spin? ;)

  • Kirsten

Who has been sitting at HAC 1 position?

Maroon 5’s “One More Night” has been parked there forever. It’s dropping at a slower rate than “Home” so it will likely be a while. Maroon 5 has a new song, so that might eat some of their spins when we come out the freeze.

    From yesterday but impt info:

YOUR TOP 15: Post-Black Friday brings the expected sales drops, only one new release in the Top 15 and several Christmas titles showing seasonal gains. Here’s how it looks headed into the weekend:

    * Alicia Keys (RCA) 150-160k
Rod Stewart “Merry Christmas Baby” (Verve) 130-140k
    Taylor Swift (Big Machine) 120-130k
    Phillip Phillips (19/Interscope) 80-85k
    One Direction (Syco/Columbia) 75-80k
    Rihanna (Def Jam/IDJ) 70-75k
    Michael Bubl? “Christmas” (Reprise) 70-75k
Lady Antebellum “On This Winter’s Night” (Capitol Nashville) 65-70k
Blake Shelton “Cheers It’s Christmas” (Warner Bros. Nashville) 55-60k
    Kid Rock (Atlantic) 50-55kNow 44 (Capitol) 40-45k
Scotty McCreery “Christmas with Scotty McCreery” (Mercury Nashville/19/Interscope) 40-45k

If it holds P2 will have a below average 2nd week drop. This is especially good for an Idol because they tend to have above average 2nd week drops.

Windmill‘s post brought over from another thread, to keep from discussing numbers in the Headline’s thread:

Yes. Hunter played every single instrument on his self titled debut album and cowrote every song on it.

Hunter’s released 2 singles to country radio: Storm Warning which peaked at #1 Billboard and Wanted which peaked at #1. Storm Warning went gold and Wanted has sold over 1.865 million downloads already. That’s before really making an impact at pop (Wanted is currently #33 at Mediabase CHR/Pop and #26 HAC).

I saw where Wanted, which is in the beginning stages of crossing over to Pop/HAC radio, is about four weeks away from going double platinum. I wonder how high this song, that sounds pretty country, will be able to climb on the CHR chart?

I also saw that Hunter played every instrument, sang all the back up vocals, wrote or cowrote every song, and co-produced his debut album.
All at the age of 20! That’s one talented young guy!

No wonder he is on everyone’s list for a BNA Grammy nomination this year.

    average 2nd week drops.

jpfan2, very good catch on the percentage of drop.  I went back to check a few from the last four years.  Here’s what I found. (I listed the winners first, then a select group of non-winners whose numbers I had access.

    David Cook – 60.1
    Kris Allen – 59.4
    Scotty McCreery – 55.2
    Phillip Phillips – 50-53??
    ——————————–
    Adam Lambert – 74.3
    David Archuleta – 63.7
    Lauren Alaina – 62.9
    James Durbin – 60.9
    Haley Rinehart – 59.8
    Allison Iraheta – 55.4
    Casey James – 54.3

Conclusion – it bodes well for his future sales.  Of course, all of his appearances he’s making right now and exposure of Home on TV and radio is helping to fuel the sales.

  • ptebwwong

Actually, Storm Warning’s highest peak on Billboard #14 on BB Country. It did achieve gold in sales.

FYI: Hunter did come from a reality show a while back. He was on America’s Most Talented Kids when he was 13 yrs. old & was the runner-up to Tori Kelly, an AI 9 contestant who made it to Hollywood.

There have been some famous people including AI alums who was on that show such as Diana DeGarmo, Hunter Hayes, Taylor Lautner, Jordin Sparks, & Aaron Kelly.

It does not look unfortunately that the Glee’s mashup have improved sales for original version of Home.
It is currently at #7 on i-tunes actually slipping few positions since yesterday.

Yeah…didn’t see that giving it much of a bump..it is so different.  However, if you told me in May that ‘Home’ would still be in the Itunes top 10 going into December…I would have thought you were crazy! lol!  So, #7 doesn’t seem too bad at all…considering all of the songs that have come & gone since ‘Home’ first charted.

On the 12th day of release, The World From The Side Of The Moon continues to maintain it’s #3 position on Itunes.

What was the peak on CHR for that 1D While We Were Young song? Anyone find it interesting the summer darlings Carly Rae, Cher Lloyd, 1D, Wanted, etc are not burning up on CHR with the follow up singles?

  • springboard2

LWWAY peaked at #15 on CHR

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/PVEFG2TOUIXSROKUSO2O2DOWWE Taylor

LWWY hit the top 15 about a month ago. Carly Rae’s duet went top 5 on CHR. I’m not sure about the other two,

  • tigervixxxen

Thanks, so yeah I’ll agree 15 is decent but I think the other 3 artists I mentioned are going to be one and done. I know Carly had the duet do well. Maroon 5, Pink, etc have had multiple strings of hits, they are the exception. It’s been my theory for a while that many new artists with a big CHR hit don’t return.
