Billboard – Chart Date 02/09/13

Sorry for the delay. I threw in the YouTube and On-Demand charts as a bonus. One Direction sure racks up those YouTube views.

Phil Phillip’s “Home” tops the AC chart for its second week.

As we all know, there are approximately 64,322 Billboard charts. This is a summary of just some of those charts and how the Idols/AGTers did on them this week. Please feel free to post rankings from your favourite BB chart or any other numbers you care to share. This is the daily numbers thread. The date in the header is the published chart date.

Correction: #10 on Hot 100 this week was “F**kin Problems” by A$AP Rocky.

Home was #9 rebounding from #10 the week before, for some reason. This is its 31st week on the chart, 13th week in the top 10.

Anyway, thank you for collecting all this data, the old layout of Billboard site was not always easy to navigate, but the new one seems to be specifically designed to make numbers-nerds life difficult.

I still can’t believe how that song took off. A few months ago, very few people had heard of them here on the East Coast. Now my daughter tells me they are the hottest thing in her H.S.
(She tells me she drives into the parking lot in the morning and that’s all she hears blasting from the other cars!)

My patience had been killed in the attempt to deal with the new system.

I want to see and hear what “Home” said  when it was told to pretend dead. LOL

What does that mean? Also, MJ, there seems to be a real interest in Macklemore and Ryan Lewis on these threads. Are you interested in covering them? I would certainly love the opportunity to read about them here. For the fans – here is their newest single. It’s not officially released yet but they played it on Letterman:http://www.complex.com/music/2013/02/video-macklemore-ryan-lewis-perform-cant-hold-us-on-lettermanOne last thing – the craziest part to me is that he not only broke onto the UK charts, which we all know our Idols struggle with – Thrift Shop is #1 there.

  • LongKissGoodnight

I’m confused as to why the song would have four different locations?? What does that mean?

There is Standard and Deluxe version of the album and each exists in clean end explicit variation => 4 i-tunes tracks (all sales will be combined on Songs Chart and for Hot 100).
There can be even more versions of the same song shoving up on i-tunes if there is a high profile remix or live recording selling. Or if label for some reason does not take down stand alone single after the album comes out (but usually they do, precisely so that sales would not get divided between too many low-charting versions).

  • roarpen

Oh yeah, thanks. There is a clean and explicit version and I understand there is a remix out there.

  • LongKissGoodnight

So… Apparently Home is about to be featured in yet another commercial (American Family Insurance), and shown during Super Bowl! And there are even shots of Phillip in it… Which is great for the whole connect song to the face issue.
    http://youtu.be/10122xu7IkA

And so that we could measure the effect of what appear to be the most patriotic, inspiring and uplifting ‘U-u-u-uuuu’s of the year (yep this is a tong in my check) there is how things look on i-tunes right now:

    Singles
    15. Phillip Phillips – Home 0.2576
    394. Phillip Phillips – Gone, Gone, Gone

    Albums
    34. Phillip Phillips – The World from the Side of the Moon (Deluxe)
    146. Phillip Phillips – The World from the Side of the Moon

  • girlygirltoo

That commercial was boring. People love talking about the commercials that air during the Super Bowl. They even have the media rating them and people voting for their favorites. I can’t see that commercial standing out from the pack today.

Of course, that doesn’t mean it can’t give a boost to “Home” and/or P2′s album. Just that the commercial itself is easily forgettable

  • jpfan2

It doesn’t look like the ad featuring Home was a national one. It certainly didn’t do match for the song on iTunes.

GGG has one Triple A add so far today. I’d like to see some early HAC adds as well.

It doesn’t look like the ad featuring Home was a national one.

It’s no secret that the ad was local — American Family Insurance even got some news coverage for doing purely local advertising this year, when they’d paid for a Super Bowl slot the year before. Here’s one of several news articles:
