    Interesting:

    155 PHILLIPS*PHILLIP GONE, GONE, GONE 18,580 26 14,766 116,054

Those are pretty decent numbers for a song that radio doesn’t play. I’m a little impressed that 18K people downloaded the song last week.

  • http://twitter.com/tinawinabina Tinawina

That an excellent sign IMO. This looks like it will be another fun one to follow methinks.

  • LongKissGoodnight

Moving with the times soundscan created a new chart called ‘Top Albums w/TEA*’ (I hope they come up with a flushier name)… Anyway this chart combines album sales for the week with track sales from said album (10 digital tracks count as 1 album and are added in to the total).
As a result we can grade most commercially popular I wanted to say artists, but actually it’s eras of the week.
    Pretty cool.

Example: Phillip’s album have sold 62.583 last week, add to that combined digital sales of songs from the album – 232,552 (Home – 195,555; Gone, Gone, Gone – 18,580: rest of the tracks – 18,417) divided by 10.
    62,583+232,552/10 = 85,838

Which is good for 5th place.

I agree “Gone, Gone, Gone” shows a lot of potential. I have all kinds of good feeling about this track.
I actually think it might be end up as big in relation to “Home” as “Some Nights” did to “We Are Young”. The powerful one-two punch that have brought a virtually unknown group all the way up to the verge of platinum album. Coincidentally, WAY was also debuted during sports broadcast with a multimillion audience (Super Bowl).

There are of course a lot of variations. One of which is tv placements. There is already a phones by Dre commercial. And I really hope that TPTB came to the same conclusion that a lot of people on this board did, that with some tweaking Gone 3x would be an excellent boot song. Generally speaking commercial and tv song placements is very common among indy and alt.rock folks, and so far 19/Red Light have done some nice things for Haley, James and Phillip in that department. So, who knows, maybe come fall we will hear a lot of Phillip tunes in background of new and returning series, the way I heard tracks from The Black Keys in virtually every freaking pilot year and a half ago.

    Anyway. Can’t wait!

  • jpfan2

GGG is a little too much like Home but not as good. I’m hoping for a modest hit that gets us single 3 and keeps the album alive.

YOUR TOP 15: Lord have mercy!
It’s looking like Christian Contemporary artist (not contemporary
Christian, as previously reported) Chris Tomlin will debut at
#1 on next week’s chart, as the Top 3 albums are all new releases. We’re hoping
that our coverage of Chris’ chart success will help keep us from getting struck
by lightning, at least for another week. Here’s how it looks headed into the
    weekend:

    * Chris Tomlin
    (sixsteps/Sparrow) 70-75k* Hollywood Undead
    (A&M/Octone) 50-55k* Black Veil Brides
    (Republic) 45-50kLes Misérables
    (Republic) 45-50kTaylor Swift (Big
    Machine) 45-50kBruno
    Mars (Atlantic) 35-40kPitch Perfect (UMe)
    35-40kLumineers
    (Dualtone) 30-35k*
    Dropkick Murphys (Dropkick Murphys)
    30-35kP!nk
    (RCA) 27-30kOne
    Direction (Syco/Columbia) 24-27kMumford & Sons
    (Glassnote) 24-27kPhillip Phillips
    (19/Interscope) 21-24kT.I. (Grand
    Hustle/Atlantic) 21-24kImagine Dragons
    (Interscope) 21-24kRihanna (Def
    Jam/IDJ) 21-24kNow 44 (Capitol)
    21-24k

    * Debuts

In a related story, we’re pitching a script about a faith-based girl who goes
to Wal-Mart to buy Chris Tomlin’s record and meets a boy who’s there for the
Hollywood Undead record and, you know, sparks fly, but their families don’t
    understand, yada yada.

A local store has their Sirius box set on ‘Ch.31 Coffee House’, and I heard Phillip’s “Thriller” on Friday.  The clerks thought it was Dave Matthews.  One of the girls got on her phone and determined it was indeed Phil’s recording.

Home is losing major spins on CHR so now is the time to release GGG. Of course the song is still in the top 10 on iTunes but that has to end soon (of course I say that every week).

It is possible that Home has cranked out another 100K in sales this week.  I originally thought 6-12 weeks before 4xplat but it could be alot sooner.

Isn’t there a GGG-performance media blitz scheduled for the first week of Idol (which is this coming week, right?)? I think that indicates we’re going to see a GGG add date for radio fairly soon.

Dunno. After several weeks, Phillip and the band will be remerging on The Ellen Show and Jimmy Kimmel. Then there is his much buzzed opening of AI Season 12. Even better news is his first 2 college dates in upstate NYC were literally sold out in a few mins.  Word over the holidays is that the second album will be sooner than later.

That’s very good news about the venues selling out.  I’m not sure why there’s such a big rush with album #2.  Album #1 is only two months old and has lots of life left in it.

Since there is still no adds date for Gone, Gone, Gone I am guessing Interscope is counting on sales and buzz spike due to Phil’s performances and return of Idol, so that they could issue a all-around complimentary press-release and send Gone 3x for immediate radioplay, probably to all formats that have been receptive to Home.
(If I am not mistaken Scotty’s second single was send for immediate airplay as well.)

Fingers cross, if it is indeed the plan, it will work. Personally I feel more comfortable with the date been set beforehand, but if Interscope has been in the talks with Phil-friendly PD’s and have massaged so to say a noticeable number of them into adding Gone 3x as soon as it is announced, they can create an event out of the whole thing, therefor making Gone 3x a song to consider in that crucial “new year – refreshed playlist” time.

I don’t think its a rush per say, but more of a strategy of building a fan base away from Idol and not losing momentum by waiting 3 yrs out.   One of the reasons why The World Of The Side Of The Moon worked is that it wasn’t over produced, over analyzed.

I’m sure they will build some big event around the presentation of the Gold album as well as Home going 3x.  As noted with some minor tweaking, Gone, Gone, Gone, could be the new boot song.
