As we all know, there are approximately 56,123 Billboard charts. This is a summary of just some of those charts and how the Idols/AGTers did on them this week. Please feel free to post rankings from your favourite BB chart or any other numbers you care to share. This is the daily numbers thread. The date in the header is the published chart date.

This week, Phil Phillips tops the Rock Album chart with “The World From the Side of the Moon” for the fifth week. America’s Got Talent Runner-up, Jackie Evancho returns to the top of the Classical Cross-over chart with “Songs from the Silver Screen.

From the Voice, Cassadee Pope tops the Heatseekers album chart. Basically, it’s a chart for somebody who hasn’t been in the BB200 top 100 or the top 10 of any of the genre album charts. So that no artist is left behind, this chart also has several sub-charts. Cassadee also topped the Top Heatseekers (South Central), Top Heatseekers (West North Central), Top Heatseekers (South Atlantic), Top Heatseekers (Pacific), Top Heatseekers (Northeast), Top Heatseekers (Mountain), Top Heatseekers (Middle Antlantic) and Top Heatseekres (East North Central). Normally, you would see more up-and-coming regional artists featured on those charts.

Pollstar released its Top 50 Worldwide Tours, ranked by cumulative gross. Carrie comes in at #47 with $29.2 million grossed from 60 shows in North America, the UK, and Australia (54 dates in North America, 1 in the UK, 5 in Australia).

2012 Blown Away Tour summary stats from Pollstar:

Number of dates: 60 (59 cities)
    Total gross: $29.2 million
    Average ticket price: $60.02
    Average attendance: 8,246
    Total tickets sold: 486,504
    Average gross: $494,915

Pollstar had the following summary statistics for the 2010 Play On Tour:
    Number of shows: 102
    Total gross: $38.3 million
    778,930 attendance
    Average gross: $375,490
    Average attendance: 7,637
    Average ticket price: $49.17

With 45+ dates set for the 2013 leg of the Blown Away tour, the total gross for Carrie’s current tour is poised to blow away the total gross for the Play On tour. The average attendance may also be higher but with a caveat: the 2nd leg in North America includes a bunch of smaller market shows where the grosses will be high because of higher ticket prices but the average attendance might be lower than the BA tour’s current average.

I’m not sure what you mean by radio “letting” a song hit #1, but “Home” is almost definitely not going to hit #1 on Pop radio. It’s at #10 on that chart this morning — nearly 7000 spins behind the #1 song. And with a bullet of +3, it looks like it has basically peaked in that format. I would expect Interscope to release “Gone Gone Gone” in early January, and once that happens, “Home” is probably going to start dropping relatively quickly on every format except AC (where songs can remain on the chart for months, sometimes years)

  • girlygirltoo

People on my twitter feed have been flailing about the Les Miz movie for months. And I saw that it almost doubled its projected 1 day box office take. So I’m not surprised the soundtrack is selling well.

  • girlygirltoo

The Mediabase Triple A chart this morning is interesting. Out of the Top 50 songs, only 6 have a positive bullet — and only one of the Top 10 songs does.

  • girlygirltoo

do you have the link for UK Mix where it shows the Soundscan #s? I thought I had the link, but that one seems to be outdated.

  • girlygirltoo

I’m not sure if this is the most recent Billboard Box Score, although it does lists concerts that took place in mid-December, so it may be (I apologize if this is an old chart and these numbers have already been posted on here)

    http://www.billboard.biz/bbbiz/charts/currentboxscore.jsp

Carrie is the highest ranking Idol/XF/Voice artist on here, coming in at #14, #17, #27, #31, #33 and #35

The WQDR “Country for Kids” show that Scotty was part of comes in at #75, while one of Clay’s Christmas shows comes in at #82.

I see one show for Allen Stone at #116, but it doesn’t mention Haley, so I don’t think she opened for him at that gig

“As we all know, there are approximately 56,123 Billboard charts.” Really? I, for one, had NO idea! Lol! Interesting fact to tuck away for future…

  • jpfan2

Billboard posted this a few days ago:

“Taylor Swift’s “I Knew You Were Trouble” is shaping up to be the biggest
beneficiary of gift card downloads, as it could sell somewhere in the range of
    525,000 to 575,000.”

It looks like Home is ending the week with about half of Swift’s sales so figure another 250-280K sold.  That much closer to 4xplat.

  • LongKissGoodnight

The World from the Side of the Moon is all the way up to #3 on my i-tunes live feed!
    Deluxe version is at #46.
It is very interesting to see how the positions of regular and Deluxe edition have switched from the first weeks when predominant majority of buyers were Idol fans to now, the beginning of the 7th week when it seems that proportions screw towards new recruits.
Generally 2 weeks after Christmas/new year are rather generous to rock and indy acts, since it’s the music of choice for a lot of young people redeeming i-tunes gift carts, and exchanging physical albums.

Phillip appears to be among the acts to benefit from this wave, as there are impressive 5 (five!) alt.rock albums in top 10 on i-tunes right now:

    1. Babel – Mumford & Sons,
    3. The World from the Side of the Moon – Phillip Phillips,
    6. My Head Is an Animal – Of Monsters and Men,
    7. The Lumineers – The Lumineers,
    8. Night Visions – Imagine Dragons.

Seems to me Phillip is positioned to have another very nice week ahead of him (comparatively speaking of course, because as we all know first week of new year is a time when sales tend to fall of a cliff).

  • jpfan2

Woo hoo. I see the album at #3 also. According to the BB streaming chart the album wasn’t predicted to be in the top 10 for the week ending yesterday. It would be fantastic if it could return to the top 10 this week. The sales will be down by a big % of course but the chart position would be amazing.

  • LongKissGoodnight

    Ahha!
Thanks to maymay on another thread the mastery of rocket-like assent of Phillip’s album have been solved.
Apparently I-tunes is offering a special prise for the number if hot albums, among them is  regular addition of ‘The World’ priced $6.99.
There are only two albums in top 10 on i-tunes right now that are selling at the regular price – the most resent release of the bunch Les Misérables’ Soundtrack, and of course the album of the holidays season – Red by Taylor Swift.
Apparently the deal ends January 3.

  • jpfan2

Thanks for solving the mystery!  Hopefully iTunes does the job and gets the album back into the top 10 of the BB200 this week.

  • girlygirltoo

All the Christmas albums are likely going to start dropping down (or off) the charts, which will help the non-Xmas albums move back up.

  • jpfan2

    Airplay updates:

    7. PHILLIP PHILLIPS – Home: 108.099 (+ 0.117)
Home looks to have peaked on CHR but is still gaining audience (thanks to AC) so it will stay in the top 10 of iTunes for the immediate future.
