As we all know, there are approximately 81,538 Billboard charts. This is a summary of just some of those charts and how the Idols/AGTers did on them this week. Please feel free to post rankings from your favourite BB chart or any other numbers you care to share. This is the daily numbers thread.

Kelly Clarkson tops the AC chart. Carrie Underwood tops the Country Songs chart and continues to top the Country Album charts. Carly Rae Jepsen tops the Digital Songs chart.

I missed flagging our first number BB #1s from a Season 11 Idol last week. Congratulations to Jessica Sanchez! Her S11 compilation album was number 1 on the BB Heatseekers chart. I did some digging and Phil also managed a BB #1 on the Digital Rock chart (we don’t normally follow that one), so Congratulations to Phil too! Every season of Idol features at least one contestant to have a BB #1.

Pam: Thank you so much for this.

I think that if you go to the Live Pop Bars site and look around a little bit, you’ll find a link with numbers that should make what you do here a whole lot easier. I can’t even imagine how long and how much energy it takes for you to manually count the t400. It’s tedious enough with the numerical rankings posted!

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_SYFK77IYLRQIVATQ2MJKSW2J7Y Pam

Thanks.  Oh yeah, the kworb site, where I’m pulling the AI and bullet stats from does have a popularity bars link.  Yeah, I’m making it a little difficult on myself aren’t I?  lol

pat345: im just asking this question because i know you are on here, but do you think wtt is even going to crack the top 40 or 30, i dont mean to be negative but i feel this song is going nowhere

It’s still picking up a small but steady stream of adds each week so I think it’s going to keep climbing, even if slowly. I still think it’ll make t40 eventually, and then probably keep climbing slowly after that. WTT’s job now is to stay active on the charts to minimize the gap between the last single from Clear As Day and the lead single from Scotty’s new album. So, I think the label will try to keep it afloat for as long as it can into the summer months with a lead single from the new album probably targeted for October/November.

  • Anonymous

i hope so, its unfortunate a better single wasnt released because clear as day has done so well, especially when you consider the best songs on the cd have not been released imo.  I hope the video helps to increase the interest in the song, and hopefully scotty can get some increased sales from it.

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/R4T6HYAQFHLDVGD4OGHAF4MOXY j

I would be shocked if this is the last single from CAD. WTT is the best one he has put out so far but is still one of the weaker songs on the CD. I understand why he wanted to put it out but I do think he could have made a better choice(YMTLG, WITC). Do you really think his 2nd CD will be out that quickly?

  • http://twitter.com/Girltalkbf AlesheaDominique

I was wondering the same thing J. The CD seems to still be doing well. I have however, seen plenty of buzz on twitter about him in the beginning stages of his next album and a call to song writers for song. So maybe it will be.

  • Anonymous

Why people are always having negative thoughts on Scotty and his team’s choices. This is a big week-end in COUNTRY MUSIC. Our wonderful country singer (notice I said  ”OUR” meaning as a Canadian American’s have to share please) is performing on the major stage with his band. This is what we should be blogging about. He does not have to do everything in one day there is tomorrow. Give WTT a chance. PLEASE.

j: I would be shocked if this is the last single from CAD. WTT is the best one he has put out so far but is still one of the weaker songs on the CD. Yes I do. But, just being clear I said I believe the lead single from Scotty’s next album is probably being targeted for an October/November release. I don’t believe the album will be out before February/March 2013.

I think it’s clear radio and Scotty’s label don’t see any breakthrough type hits on his debut album and the consensus seems to be he’ll need stronger material to convince radio to really get on board with him to the level you might expect for a platinum selling act. Too, keeping the usual sales dropoff from Idol debuts to Idol sophomore albums in mind, Scotty’s going to need radio to get on board with him. So, the label’s goal will be to get new music out while he’s still riding the momentum of being such a popular Idol winner (I’m also thinking Scotty’ll be nominated for CMA New Artist Of The Year, and the show would give him a good window to launch his new single).

Also keep in mind Universal Nashville has a new head as of May. He’s not going to want to be saddled with promoting an album he had no part in making when it’s one that’s not viewed as having that breakthrough radio hit. I expect one of his priorities is going to be showing he can convert a platinum selling Idol winner into a legit country hitmaker with a strong future in the industry. He’ll be looking to take Scotty to the next level with new material.

i dont know what a radio tour entails but i keep hearing that he should do this. When i look at scottys calender of events private shows invitation only held by radio stations are cropping up all the time.  Maybe one of the priorities i think this summer is also to get him out to different radio stations, which i think is a good thing because as you said he will really need radio support for his next cd to be successful

It’s amazing that YOUNG HOMIE is losing huge number of spins and AI each day but keep moving up on itunes! Bring  on the “TROUBLE”! 5 stations premiered it last night after it won all the polls from the respective stations! Two OHIO stations premiered it this morning when he visited them.

So far everyone thinks “TROUBLE” is a hit! It stucks in your head when you hear it!

girlygirltoo: I saw a quote from someone at his label earlier this year that said that Scotty’s 2nd album won’t be out until fall 2013.
I tried to go back on line to find the article that quote was in, but I wasn’t able to find it.

Like I already told you the last time you said this, that’s because there is no article in which a label person said anything about Scotty’s 2nd album not being out until fall 2013. It was some fan’s guesswork that got inserted into another fan’s summary of a Mike Dungan (new head of Universal Nashville) interview. I listened to the interview in question and he said nothing about when Scotty’s sophomore album is due. I can tell you there is NO way the label plans to wait that long.

oh — I never saw your last response to me about that.

Thanks for clearing this up for me.

Very interesting thanks for your reply. Guess I’m just a little shocked at how ILYTB and TTWG did and they are two songs I rarely if ever listen to on his CD. Matter of taste I guess, just seems early to pull the plug on this album yet. Maybe they have made their money on it and are looking to ge the next one out quick like you said. Just hoping that he has had time to choose more carefully(I’m not seeing how he could) with this one. I’m confident he will have a long carreer, but thinking a so so 2nd album will make the climb difficult.

i agree it seems early, i hope though the second album comes out sooner then later, i just feel bad that the best songs were not released from cad, i feel the cd is alot better then some people may think, and the singles released were not reflective of how good the rest of the songs were

Over on the Pulse Board, in the CHR page there are some unofficial numbers for how Dark Side is doing in terms of Top 40 spins. The person is just going by the spins they can pull off the All-Access site — these are a ROUGH ESTIMATE, NOT an exact number.

Still, it gives us some clue on how the single is doing:

    ?? ?? KELLY CLARKSON Dark Side 194 13 181 1.053+39 Spins+29 Bullet+0.233 Audience

I was beginning to wonder if there ever was going to be a video for WTT. It was good to hear Scotty say its on its way. I’ve grown to like WTT.  IMO its an  uplifting fun song to listen to, and reflects the best of small town living in America and can’t help but bring a smile to one’s face. The thing about CAD, everyone seems to have their favorites, including me, and everyone’s favorites seem to vary!  I’d say thats a good thing, because the likeability of the album reaches a lot more people!
