In case anyone missed it, from HDD:

In one of the closest races we’ve seen for #1, Bruce Springsteen gets a slight edge over Adele in the battle for the top of next week’s chart. Complicating the projections this week are the 25-cent albums being featured this week at Google Play, which are being price-matched at Amazon MP3. While we know about Now 41, Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter IV and Lady Antebellum’s Own the Night being offered at such a ridiculously low price, there are still several days left in the week to see what other
titles get discounted. Because of this, please expect a greater than
usual margin of error and expect to see at least a few more titles come
in with much larger sales. Here’s how things look at midweek:

    *Bruce Springsteen (Columbia) 210-220k
    Adele 21 (XL/Columbia) 210-220k
    Now 41 (Capitol/EMI) 90-100k
Whitney Houston Greatest Hits (RCA) 80-85k
    Lady Antebellum (Capitol Nashville/EMI) 65-70k
    Lil Wayne (YM/Cash Money/Universal Republic) 60-65k
    Adele 19 (XL/Columbia) 25-28k
*Luke Bryan EP (Capitol Nashville/EMI) 24-27k
    Tyga (YM/Cash Money/Universal Republic) 21-24k
    The Bodyguard soundtrack (RCA) 21-24k
    Drake (YM/Cash Money/Universal Republic) 21-24k
    Rihanna (Def Jam/IDJ) 18-21k
    fun. (Fueled By Ramen) 17-20k
    Gotye (Fairfax/Universal Republic) 17-20k
    Kelly Clarkson (19/RCA) 15-18k
    Luke Bryan (Capitol Nashville/EMI) 15-18k
    LMFAO (Interscope) 15-18k
*Andrew Bird (Mom + Pop) 15-18k

    *Debuts (3/8p)

Thats quite a bump for Wildflower and GP  much more then I would have expected.  Scotty got a decent bump on CAD  and nice showing for the boot song.  Way to go.

  • larc

Just one day doesn’t tell us if TTWG is starting to go into full retreat, but the numbers look suspicious.  PDs must know Scotty will be getting a new single soon.  I have mixed feelings about YMTLG.  While it would be great if it makes a fast dash up the country chart and stays there for a long time, it could interfere with a summer release of WMNOYH.  That’s the one I’m really waiting for, but it’s definitely a summer song.

  • Mike M

Scotty’s “Please Remember Me” is at 99 right now on iTunes, and “The Trouble With Girls” has jumped back into the top 100 at 94. Lauren’s “Georgia Peaches” is now up to 111, so they both got a nice bump from last night’s Idol.

  • Anonymous

When Scotty performs, I expect to see a bigger jump.  Quite a benefit from the snippet of the boot song, and good itune reception for it.

I’m not sure if this is correct or not, but IDF is saying that Scotty’s “Please Remember Me” has already sold 21,000 copies.

If that’s true, for only a snippet of the song on Idol, those are amazing sale numbers.

  • Anonymous

Someone doesn’t know what they are talking about on IDF. Scotty’s cover song is in the 90s on itunes. Songs in the 90s on itunes are not selling 20,000 copies every 12 hours, not even close!

I’ve only been in the Idol bubble, so to speak, so I’m stunned by the bumps for Lauren and Scotty.  Wow.  Can’t wait for Scotty to appear on Idol–for more reasons than one;)

WSTW is the station that had TVOL in their nightly contest last week. I commented then that it had the same playlist as most HAC stations. It has been that way for a few months now, because I remember seeing it as one of the few Pop stations that was playing CBTY. It looks like this station was in the process of switching over.

So, we lose a Pop station that leans heavily towards HAC and get two new stations to cross over from Rhythmic to Pop? Yay, that’s all we need! lol

IDF is very reliable and the post simply said that this:

So selling 20,000 in a 24 hours period is possible! ;-)

    It’s not true.

The #1 song We Are Young sold 302k last week. That’s around 43k per day. Scotty’s Please Remember Me is sitting at #88 right now. If it had sold 21k in the past 24 hours, that would be at a rate of approximately 50% of the #1 song. If you look at kworb’s pop bars site, Gotye’s Someone I Used To Know is selling at a little over 50% of the rate at the #1 song, and that song’s at #3 Itunes now (ignore the most recent update, there’s a glitch).

I haven’t had the chance to comment on Scotty’s cover of Please Remember Me, but I really like it. Production’s a little too heavy in the chorus as usual, but it goes to show what Scotty can do with strong melodies.

larc: Just one day doesn’t tell us if TTWG is starting to go into full retreat, but the numbers look suspicious.

TTWG has been losing spins and AIs in the daily updates for 3 days straight. Not huge losses but when you look at the chart conditions Mike M mentioned, there’s just no point to Mercury keeping its support for the single. By the time there are enough recurrents to move it to new Billboard and Mediabase peaks, it will have been passed by too many songs and it’s not the kind of song that gives the feeling of momentum to will itself into the t10. Definitely time to move on, and I expect a new single in a few weeks.

I think You Make That Look Good (if it’s the single) will move up faster than TTWG did, but I don’t think it’s likely to be a speedy mover either. I agree with Mike M that it’s likely to take up at least 20 weeks on the chart which would basically be the whole summer if it’s out in late March. I totally agree Write My Number On Your Hand is the perfect summer single and I believe it would be a bigger hit than YMLTG. It’s Scotty’s best vocal on the album, it’s really catchy, he shows his personality on it, and it’s the song on his album that’s the best fit for his style. I’m not really feeling YMTLG as a #1 but it’s possible. T10 is a good possibility. WMNOYH feels like it’d be bigger.

I have a question for the gurus.  What percentage of radio stations are monitored?

Would late summer be too late for WMNOYH?  Just wondering…

There is no “If” to it. A song in the 90s on itunes is not selling anywhere close to 30K a day in downloads.

Well….it might be if today was Dec 25th. Today is not Dec 25th.

Mayer was supposed to perform at Jazz Fest, here in New Orleans this year.  They have replaced him with Cee Lo Green.

There’s no denying, Scotty’s voice is beautiful . Been listening to PRM on utube and if the song doesn’t grab you right away, at least for me, give it time, it will. I think, at first, I was trying to evaluate it too much as an elimination song. When, I was through with that, and just listened, I found, like others songs of Scottys’ there’s something soothing to the soul, in listening to Scotty sing this song.

I thought the Idol push would have ended by now but I suppose Youtube vids help keep it going. This is my favorite vocal performance by Scotty, by the way. I hate to say that since it’s not on his album, but it’s such a terrific song and the melody hits him right in his sweet spot.

I’m very new to all of this so I have a question for the experts. Is it possible that Scotty’s version of Please Remember Me will be released to radio?

I think the impact of primetime TV performances typically peaks around 24 hours after the performance because of the Itunes rolling window (which is probably around 24-36 hours lately).

ITA about your Scotty Please Remember Me comment. I was thinking that it was definitely my favorite ballad studio vocal from him, though I also really dig his vocal on more midtempo Write My Number On Your Hand. Goes to show what having some time to record (and some growth as a singer) will do for you.

It’ll be made available for airplay and I expect it’ll get some spins here and there, especially by Scotty’s hometown station. But, Mercury Nashville’s highly unlikely to promote it as a single because they want album sales and PRM is not on Scotty’s album.

I lovvee Scotty’s “Please remember me”. Been listenning to it over and over in the last 2 days. Can’t wait for the 2nd album from him. Based on how much he has grown, and with more time to record, I know it’s gonna fantastic!
