Here’s the update for Stronger on Top 40 today:

    59 38 KELLY CLARKSON Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You) 957 248 709 5.616
    +188 Spins+145 Bullet+0.860 Audience

So it broke into the top 40 a week before the official adds date. It’s also moved up to #12 on iTunes. This song has the potential to really hit big.

  • Kirsten

It’s also moved up to #12 on iTunes. This song has the potential to really hit big.

It’s got a great hook and she’s going to have amazing promo in the next couple of months.  I think it will be a hit.

  • Trina

I said a long time ago MKIA is her “Breakaway”, but WDKY will be her SUBG level smash.  On top of all her upcoming amazing promo and good airplay, I noticed her Toyota commercial has been running quite a bit lately (NBC playing it right after her SNL performance of the song was brilliant). That little snippet sounds SO catchy in that ad.

ETA: I just tried to post the HDD chart again and I got a message saying my comment needed approval. Huh?

  • Anonymous

From my, admittedly relatively short chart watching experience, I noticed that songs that are destined to become multiformat smashes tend to skyrocket into top 5 on i-tunes once they enter top 20 on POP.
So the fact that Stronger is already pushing top 10 on i-tunes with only 38 position on POP and 31 on HotAC is very Oh my god, oh my god, this thing is gonna smash! encouraging. ;)

  • Valentin432

Being almost in the top 10 so early in its run has to be a very positive sign.

I’m pretty sure it’ll be a big hit with at least platinium level sales, the question is wheter it will go top 5 or higher on pop and if it’ll go multiplatinium.

  • Anonymous

WDKY is one of those songs , imo at least, that just sounds like a hit from the very first time you hear it.  You know, I wasn’t super crazy about MKIA.  But RCA played this whole roll-out perfectly.  It all makes sense now.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_S3ZGXZCUE2YYOS7QV6QSTKM4SA buffynut2001

Awwww, Pam. Hope the problem corrects itself. Anxiously waiting for your reports.

  • fuzzywuzzy

I thought so too, but I’m not a regular listener of Top 40 radio, so I don’t have a good perspective on how well it will do on that chart or in sales.  I hope that this song does very, very well.  :)

  • Anonymous

The other day I noticed how frequently I was seeing that commercial, and that each time “Stronger” would stick in my head for quite a while.  I was thinking that if it was having the same effect on others, Kelly would likely sell a ton of downloads.

I’m convinced that this is at least a platinum single, and I’m hoping it will help to give Kelly’s cd some legs.

  • fuzzywuzzy

Well, obviously you are a person under suspicion of being a troll.  ;)  j/k  Sorry that this has happened, Pam.  I look forward to your stats posts every day.  :)

Happy for Kelly, it was smart idea to have WDKY as the second single because MKIA would have done worse as a second single and would not have sold over a million downloads.

  • Tess

I don’t recall Kelly working nearly this hard promoting her last album…and maybe the under platinum sales were indicative of two things…Kelly not as enthusiastic about the material (I still remember her rantings about some of the songs) and her “baseline” involvement in the project.

This time around she is everywhere….even to the point of getting herself involved on gossip sites and in controversies that having nothing to do with the album.  Her TV ad is everywhere on TV, she has been everywhere promoting, there isn’t a music awards show that she hasn’t been on.

I really think her duet with Aldean kept her in the limelight during a time when many Artists go “darK as they record a new album…and her duet also helped her find a new set of fans in the country community.

Her current management and team is doing most everything right…no gig is beneath her…no interview too trite….and since this is the last contractual album (I believe) with RCA/Sony she is probably working to ensure that she will be picked up with a very lucrative extension or will get offers to move on with even more financial rewards on the table.  And, in the same vein of thought, RCA is probably working pretty damn hard to keep their star in the stable and is probably working out every deal imaginable with radio…that is how the industry plays the game.

  • Kirsten

    …no gig is beneath her…

Although I agree that Kelly is working her butt off this era, I don’t get this statement. What gigs is she taking that should be beneath her? It sounds like she’s been given primo gigs. SNL, Superbowl, Grammys? These are gigs that most other artists can only dream of getting. Z100 Jingle Ball spots are fought for. Appearing on talk shows and reality show results shows are par for the course and are things that you see Gaga and Beiber doing. Even the Voice is a good gig because it is wonderful for the judges/mentors.

I must have missed the opening of a feed store in Des Moines gigs.

I agree with the most rest of what you are saying, but I’m not getting that statement.

  • Tess

I have my opinion about some of the “things” she appears on…others may feel that they are all 5 star.  Besides, the comment was a generalization and not totally specific…sorry if I offended.

  • Kirsten

    sorry if I offended.

Not offended. I was honestly curious as to which events  were beneath her (and of course, I have to try to be funny so then I didn’t seem serious. Sorry).

  • fuzzywuzzy

I think that it’s mainly 2 things:  New management with Narvel Blackstock/Starstruck Entertainment and, probably more important, Barry Weiss replacing Clive Davis as Chairman of RCA label group.  What “rantings about some of the songs”?  I remember the controversy regarding the similarity in the arrangements of the backing tracks for “Halo” and “Already Gone”, but what other songs did Kelly “rant” about?

Yes, I’m curious about that claim also.  What, specifically, are the events that Kelly has been involved with that are “beneath her”?

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_SYFK77IYLRQIVATQ2MJKSW2J7Y Pam

Well, obviously you are a person under suspicion of being a troll.

Hee.  That doesn’t happen very often but it can get frustrating sometimes.  :)

  • fuzzywuzzy

What are those “things” that in your opinion are “beneath her”? You are entitled to your opinion, but clearly you think that certain events are in this category. Please name them.

  • fuzzywuzzy

It’s happened occasionally to me as well, but it’s only temporary.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_SYFK77IYLRQIVATQ2MJKSW2J7Y Pam

I’m not going to lie, I love that commercial.  It has given WDKY some awesome awesome TV exposure during the NFL season and now post season games for several weeks before she even had a chance to perform it live.  This song probably shoudl have been the lead off single to begin with.  I’m glad the single and album are selling the way they are for her.

  • Anonymous

Personally, I’d say the car commercial. Just horribly cheesy, and not in the “OMG, funny!” but eye rolling “lame” way.  But then, I almost always find celebrity endorsements to be that way, so it wouldn’t matter who it was.

  • Anonymous

It’s a strong song with a really strong hook, but one advantage of making it the second single is that it is helped by all of the promotional opportunities that Kelly is getting right now.  Like someone said yesterday, the song’s airplay over the last week and a half probably isn’t the cause for it’s recent surge on Itunes.  More than likely this current run is due to SNL, VH1 divas, the commercial, and the rest of the mass media exposure that Kelly has been getting.

  • Nele621

I thought Kelly went platinum on her last two albums

  • Anonymous

American Idol sure hit the jackpot with Kelly.  10 years have passed now and she’s still going strong, and their latest winner just went platinum.  Then there’s Carrie’s multi-platinums and sooo many (too many to mention, you know who they are) other successes from the show.  The new singing competition shows will never have the success rate of AI.  Why the newbies even try to take shots at AI is beyond me.  (If Justin had won the first year and Bo had won the 4th, wonder if that would have messed the whole AI machine up?  Nevemind, lol, just thinking outloud). :)

  • windmills

WDKY has been such the obvious smash so it’s really good to see it exploding already on Itunes and at radio. But even more than that I’m just so happy Kelly’s at a place where she, her management, and her label are on the same page because of how much better an environment it is for Kelly to operate in. When everybody’s committed to selling the music, good things happen and we’re really seeing that right now. I think RCA invested a little extra into getting MKIA some extra radio success and that paved the way for WDKY to really smash. I definitely see a multiplatinum digital seller there.

Tess: and since this is the last contractual album (I believe) with RCA/Sony

Kelly’s confirmed she owes RCA 1 more album after this. Her original deal with RCA was for 5 albums but when they renegotiated after Breakaway there was another album added to the deal.
I surfed the intertubes a little bit for set list spoilers for Scotty since Brad’s tour started last night and come up almost empty except for an IDF post saying these songs are confirmed (not in order of appearance): ILYTB, TTWG, Water Tower Town, You Make That Look Good, Better Than That, and Write My Number On Your Hand. I don’t know if that’s correct or full but it’ll give Kirsten some hope that Walk In The Country isn’t confirmed to be in there. I don’t think it makes sense to keep that out of the set list if it’s the next single. I guess it’s possible Mercury’s going to ride TTWG until the end of Brad’s tour. That would suck so I hope not.

Also, I keep meaning to say this but the whole thing about stickers never lying? They sometimes do. Like MCA (which is Mercury’s sister label) is currently testing 4 songs for David Nail’s next single and none of them was on the sticker for David’s album (my pick for David Nail’s single is anything but the boring and lame Lady A cowrite I Thought You Knew, so that means the next single will be the boring and lame Lady A cowrite I Thought You Knew). Lauren’s album has Eighteen Inches on the sticker but when they were testing for singles they didn’t test Eighteen Inches (they test a couple songs not on the sticker). So, maybe Universal Nashville’s stickers do lie. Figures since they actually listed a single I agreed with!

  • Tess

I don’t think it is always necessary to validate personal opinion with substance nor do I think it is necessary to pull out 10 years of on-line articles to substantiate personal recollections.  Where does it say that “I remember” isn’t valid in my own head, nor that I can’t have “personal” opinions about gigs or interviews, or that I can’t mention gossip rags without pulling out every one of them for the consumption of others.

With apologies to Kirsten and MJ….I’d just like to re-itterate that my rantings are my opinion of events…this isn’t a debate or an educational forum where every thought needs to be back-upped with quotes from professionals.  Someone else is free to prove that my thoughts are bogus.

My December was certified Platinum, but I don’t know if it sold a million copies.  I think it might be somewhere between 800,000-900,000.  Al last count, All I Ever Wanted is less than 100,000 copies away from selling a million copies, but I don’t think that it has been certified Platinum.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_AGWO435FL6UN2ICRVTFLWRJZSA Lexie

Windmills, what do you think of Scotty’s parents saying that they’d like “You Make That Look Good” as the next single?  I know they probably don’t know, but…

It’s a blog, not a thesis for your Masters. People give opinions all the time and there is no need to apologize for yours. If people don’t like what others say, they can state theirs and agree to disagree and then move on.

  • Anonymous

I remember when people were disappointed that Bo didn’t win & thought he would be the bigger star. There were also people booing Carrie won after the winning announcement.

Idol contestants that do well on the show doesn’t necessarily translate to sales or success as we have seen. Bo, Melinda, LaToya, Tamyra, Allison, etc. all did well on the show, but there are many factors involved to be a relevant & successful artist.

  • Anonymous

As of November 2011, Kelly’s last album had sold 930K in the US alone.

AIEW is gold or platinum in several countries outside of the US, including the UK, where it has sold close to 200K.

  • http://twitter.com/tinawinabina Tinawina

I am going to go to the left a bit. I have a question. Is the US still the biggest music market?

The way I remember it last time I looked it was the US, Japan, UK, Canada, Germany and France I think in that order. But with the decline in sales here, I was not sure if it is number one anymore. It probably is the number 1 English speaking county still. I guess anyway.

Also, I know that some markets don’t see a lot of records but they are big for touring (Australia was one of those, I think). So does anyone know what the more lucrative touring territories are?

With Kelly’s stuff starting and Adam’s coming, I’m just trying to get a handle on the international markets to help put things into context when the numbers start flying.

  • Kirsten

With apologies to Kirsten and MJ

No need to apologize. One is allowed to state opinions here and opinions don’t require facts. I hope you don’t feel like I pressured you and if you do feel pressured, I apologize. That was not my intent.

  • Anonymous

I think it’s very likely Scotty’s next single is “You Make That Look Good.” Scotty’s parents want the song as his next single & they don’t seem like the type of people to blurt out that unless it was already being considered by the management.

I think the other song they’re probably considering is “Write Your Number On My Hand.” But that might be more of a summer song. Who knows? Maybe management is thinking his summertime single should be “Out of Summertime.”

I don’t have a problem with any of those 3 choices. I could see all of those become hits.

  • Kirsten

I don’t know if that’s correct or full but it’ll give Kirsten
some hope that Walk In The Country isn’t confirmed to be in there.

Yay! Okay, it’s not a total cause for celebration. I quite imagine that they  may be mixing up the set list from show to show to see what gets the best audience reaction and to keep it from getting boring for Scotty and the band.

    I
don’t think it makes sense to keep that out of the set list if it’s the
next single. I guess it’s possible Mercury’s going to ride TTWG until
the end of Brad’s tour. That would suck so I hope not.

Ugh. Well. We’ll see. I guess if they think they can get it to a reasonable height on the charts they just might try. I think it’s a least 4-5 weeks before the song can hit top 20 (and probably more like 6). Almost everything above it is moving up at about the same rate (or better) so that means it has to wait for songs to tag out at first and then drop out of the top 10 (everybody is usually so orderly on Country, waiting their turn to top the chart for a week. Except for that Big Machine dude who pushes and shoves his acts to the front). Lady A and Blake are going to run over TTWG like it’s standing still, so that’s why it will be longer than 3 weeks.

I think they might want to try for top 20.

Kelly is doing amazing, i think her new song will sell the album and it will go platinum eventually. It’s all about choosing the right singles and keeping the momentum going.

Obviously I’m not Windmills, but….I was hoping that they had some inside information!!  Just as a side note: TTWG just announced as #10 video on CMT after not being on the countdown last week! Yeah!!

I am going to go to the left a bit. I have a question. Is the US still the biggest music market?

Probably yes, though Japan’s 2009-2010 decline was smaller than the U.S. decline, and the totals are already close enough that shifts in dollar/yen exchange rates could matter. There are rumblings that Japanese sales will pass U.S. sales in the next couple years. The #3 country, Germany, has total sales less than half of Japan’s.

Here’s a copy of IFPI’s chart of international sales from last spring, with an interesting little sales per capita calculation below it. Alas, I can’t find a free version of IFPI’s numbers for 2011 yet; it looks from Googling as if these are released in April each year.

  • Nele621

As one of Kelly’s album was certified platinum and the other was really close to platinum sales, then I think she is doing great. It seems with all idols (except Kelly), their first album sells a bunch, and the ones after seem to sell less and less. I’m wondering if Daughtry’s third album will even go platinum. It looks like Cook will have trouble going gold. I think Kris, tho, will break this trend.

  • windmills

Lexie: Windmills, what do you think of Scotty’s parents saying that they’d like “You Make That Look Good” as the next single?  I know they probably don’t know, but…

I honestly don’t know what their dynamic as parents speaking publicly about their son’s career is though I’ve got this idea they don’t speak out of turn.

But, sometimes it’s surprising to find an act just doesn’t know what the label’s looking at for the next single (and so, neither would his parents), leading to much gnashing of teeth among fans that the label isn’t planning enough ahead. So, it wouldn’t surprise me if those discussions with the label hadn’t occurred yet and the next single hadn’t been officially decided yet. I’d keep my eye out at Rate The Music: they recently did a survey for David Nail’s next single, they did one before they released Lauren’s 2nd single, and so maybe in the next couple months they’ll do one for Scotty’s next single.

  • http://twitter.com/tinawinabina Tinawina

I could kiss you Eilonwy! Thanks! So interesting.

Germany passed the UK in total sales, and Australia is higher than I remember. #ThingsILearnedToday :)

Reading those comments in that thread was interesting too. I had always wondered just how much English language music was sold in Japan, and they seemed to imply that it is a lot. They also confirmed that feeling that the US, UK and Japan are considered “the” markets in music. Do most international stars emerge out of one of those 3? I know Japan is highly influential in terms of musical trends and style, but have there been a lot of big worldwide (except America, of course) stars out of there?

  • Anonymous

Daughtry will likely not go platinum with this album unless he has a huge hit single or something else to drive the sales. Likewise, Cook is not going to go gold with this album unless something happens to really jump start sales.

I would love Kris to turn the trend around where every Idol except Kelly has seen a decline in sales from album #1 to album #2. Unfortunately, that’s probably wishful thinking. If he can sell similarly to what he did with album #1, he’d actually be doing well. He is going to need a hit single (probably 2 hit singles) and really good promo to give him a real shot at having strong album sales, though, because, as much as his fans love him, he’s not on a lot of people’s radars right now.

  • Anonymous

Kelly seems very happy right now, which probably has at least something to do with how she is getting along with her management and label. WDKY is a really good song and I hope it will be a huge hit for her — it’s off to a good start, and no one can complain about the promotion she’s getting, that’s for sure :)

I think you’re right. Sara Evans right ahead of Scotty could be gettable for him eventually, but other than that it’s a battle of attrition, waiting for songs to go recurrent. Still, I think it can make Top 20 in a few weeks. In addition to the songs you mentioned, he and Casey J are probably going to get boat raced by Miranda’s new one in the next couple of weeks (sooner for Casey since she has already blown by Lauren and is only two spots behind Casey now). In addition, look for “that Big Machine dude” (love it…lol) Scotty Borchetta to go all out with Rascal Flatts’ new one “Banjo” which just entered the charts. He was denied his number one with the last Flatts song, “Easy”, which reached number two then started falling like a rock.

David Nail’s time at the sunny top of the mountain was short lived (about a week). Eric Church is now number one (Medaibase), and Luke Bryan is right on his heels in third,, plus Chris Young is gaining in fourth. Lots of musical chairs at the top of the charts these days.

Of the 22 songs ahead of Scotty right now, only two (Jason Aldean -381 and Rascal Flatts -886) are showing negative spins today. I have no idea how Mediabase handles its recurrents coming out of the holiday weirdness, but Rascal Flatts will probably be the first of those 22 to go recurrent since their new single has now entered at number 50, so the label is done with the old one. It’s just a question of when.

I’ve wondered if the change in mgmt could be having an effect on CD’s roll-out. He is still with Stirling but since Stirling does not have the 19 backing, how much push would he be able to give with his new company.

“I don’t think it is always necessary to validate personal opinion with substance”

Thank you for admitting that, which has now become very obvious.  lol

“nor do I think it is necessary to pull out 10 years of on-line articles to substantiate personal recollections.”

But that’s not the time frame that you referenced in your post.  You specifically talked about what happened on Kelly’s last album (released in 2008) “rantings about some songs”, and this era about more than one controversy and gossip rags/tabloids which only encompasses a few months.  I don’t expect a list of links, but simply explaining which events you are referring to isn’t beyond the scope of this forum IMO.

“this isn’t a debate or an educational forum where every thought needs to be back-upped with quotes from professionals.”

lol  Of course it isn’t, but at the same time there are lots of people here who find the truth and accuracy more important than attempts to rewrite history under the guise of an “opinion” founded on flawed information.  The entire numbers thread is a testament to those individuals who wish to be as accurate as possible in providing statistics, and as far as I’m concerned, the attempt to be as truthful and accurate about events concerning Idols is no different.

I’m not going to lie, I love that commercial.  It has given WDKY some awesome awesome TV exposure during the NFL season and now post season games for several weeks before she even had a chance to perform it live.

With Kelly & Stronger being used on a commercial featuring the ESPN football crew, I wonder if she was booked to sing the NA at the Super Bowl some time ago.  Having her on a commercial w/ football dudes then singing at the Super Bowl just seems a little too tidy for coincidence.  Nice promo job all around.

It’s an open blog not an official site of a particular artist or political face, the people come here and express excitements, frustrations, thoughts, agreements and disagreements about idols/music-business, professional music-related information… and the tone in general is civilized. Sometimes posts are more loose, sometimes stiffer, I would not come here to read or post if I would not have something from everything, sometimes a little bit of less “official meaner” doesn’t hearts too if it’s the limit of civilized-acceptance for a more friendly open-less stiffness feeling. That’s remind me of a jock: at phone-”Q”- Hello , this is the “School of Dance and Good Manners”? “A”- Eh, f–k “school of dance” only Good Manners.

  • Anonymous

I honestly don’t think Daughtry ever has ever gotten the grade A promo though. No SNL appearance ever or Superbowl NA even when he had the biggest album of the year.

I’m not sure I’d call a national TV ad for Toyota beneath anyone though. ;)  Even if Kelly was doing a gig on a cable station no one has heard of, it would still be an opportunity to be seen.  Unless she was on Celebrity Rehab or something. ;)

  • LaurelG

I must be one of the few around here who’s not in love with WDKY.  I mean, I get that it’s a fist pumping, get you out of your seat kind of song and Kelly certainly sings the hell out of it, but it just seems kind of … I don’t know, I can’t put my finger on it.  Just not as original and unexpected as MKIA which I liked better.

I think the song will do well, in part because of the momentum from MKIA and in part because Kelly’s doing a great job promoting the album.  Love Kelly so I hope she has great success with it.  Just not my favorite Kelly song.

  • Tess

there are lots of people here who find the truth and accuracy more important than attempts to rewrite history under the guise of an “opinion” founded on flawed information.

I think the last place I would go to find “truth and accuracy” on the internet is a blog that has an open forum for everyone to contribute their 2 cents…no matter how flawed.  And if people choose to accept my opinion as historical dogma, I can’t change that.  If others feel it is necessary to “correct” my perceptions they are totally free to post their counterpoints and to point out to me and others that I have run amuck, again.  I could really care less if someone thinks I am OTT with my statements or feels that I have to defend every impression I have about a particular “snowflake”.  I am working hard at qualifying my statements with the “I” venacular and responding to others explaining that they are “my” opinions.  I should also try and remember that the scroll button is truly my friend.

  • Anonymous

If Kelly doing a Toyota ad is considered “beneath” her, what would Carrie doing Olay commercials be considered? You could make the argument that Carrie didn’t need to do those commercials. But it’s all about exposure. How many musicians need to do other things besides music to be more marketable or successful? All of the biggest stars in music are acting, have fragrances, selling products, etc.

  • fuzzywuzzy

“And if people choose to accept my opinion as historical dogma, I can’t
    change that.”

But when flawed “facts” are presented as such, that’s different from an opinion, that’s just misinformation and a person can most definitely change that kind of expression.

“If others feel it is necessary to “correct” my perceptions
they are totally free to post their counterpoints and to point out to
me and others that I have run amuck, again.”

As has been done many times, revealing a pattern.  When a pattern has been established of presenting misinformation, then that has an impact on the perception of a poster’s opinions that are based on that misinformation.

“I could really care less if someone thinks I am OTT with my statements or feels that I have to defend every
impression I have about a particular “snowflake”.”

But you see, that’s not the point.  I don’t care if your opinion of an Idol/artist that I like contradicts mine.  I honestly don’t.  I just don’t like to see statements of “facts” that aren’t, and then when asked to clarify those “facts”, no further information or explanation is forthcoming.

    “I am working hard at
qualifying my statements with the “I” venacular and responding to others
explaining that they are “my” opinions.”

Totally agree and again, I have no problem with a diversity of opinions.  But, on principle, I think that there’s nothing wrong with people questioning what people post as “facts” and that those individuals should be able to address those questions without taking offense or becoming defensive.

“I should also try and remember
that the scroll button is truly my friend.”

That’s one way of avoiding valid questions.  The bottom line is that I don’t think that there’s anything wrong with questioning statements of “facts”.  It happens all the time, with stats and other comments.  As I’ve often stated, I’m only a casual fan, so I readily admit that there are lots of things that I’ve missed about so much to do with any Idols, so questioning is a way of becoming informed about things that I may be unaware of, which then can impact my opinions.

I love both songs.  Maybe Stronger works, because as my sister said the first time that she heard it, it sounds like a lot of Kelly’s other songs.  It’s the type of song that we expect from Kelly, and considering the amount of success that she’s had, that’s not necessarily a bad thing.

  • Anonymous

Count me in as someone who does not not care much for WDKY.
From the first time I heard the leaked demo it sounded like a lesser version of Christina Aguilera’s “Fighter” to me.
And given that Kelly’s career is chuck full off “he done me wrong” type of songs I can not say, that I was particularly craving for another reiteration of old and tired pop/rock break-up anthem, dipped in the sauce of electro-pop influences.
(Plus the beet to the ground with repetition old sophism as a main scream-out line of the song feels so tacky to me…)
That sad, general population seems fully prepared to embrace it, so…
When one can not enjoy the music there is always a numbers game to get the kick out off, and this song is promising to bring a lot of goodies for the numbers nerds.

    Fuzzywuzzy….
Just for clarification because I think your criticism of me is to the point of badgering….

    My comment:
(I still remember her rantings about some of the songs) and the definition of “some” that I learned as a kid: an unspecified amount or number.  I never said there was more than one incident….I can’t recall if their was one or more than one so I used the catch-all “some”.

    My comment:
is doing most everything right…no gig is beneath her…no interview too trite.  Actually, I thought of my statement as a compliment to Kelly and her team…for me she isn’t thinking about the status of her gigs or her interviews….she is doing what it takes to get herself out there and for people to know who she is and what she is promoting.  I may not personally agree with some of her promotion but she is doing it all.

Now, I don’t understand how you can conjure up that I am deliberately undermining Kelly with my statements.

  • fuzzywuzzy

I think that you are misunderstanding me, and I don’t intend to “badger” you, but am just seeking clarification of some of what you posted.  Perhaps, my manner is too questioning and probing, but I am just a curious person, about almost anything and everything.

RCA could certify it Gold, because that’s how many copies retailers initially ordered, but given that it is not currently selling at a brisk pace, retailers aren’t going to put in another order for 500,000 more copies.

My vote went to Catch You While I Can for something with a little more tempo. Both big hits David’s had so far has been a ballad and I think he needs to not fall into a rut there. CYWIC has a great little melody, pretty lyrics, and David sounds really good on it. I wouldn’t mind Half Mile Hill being the next single either. IMO Sound Of A Million Dreams has to be released eventually but not next. I’d also like Songs For Sale for a single but they didn’t include that in the 5 choices they listed (CYWIC, HMH, SOAMD, That’s How I’ll Remember You, I Thought You Knew).
