Love that guy so much, has pretty much has it all..

He obviously is singing at lots of gigs as has been mentioned already and by looking at his album sales in just 3 weeks I’d say he is doing plenty.

Cook totally cracks me up and it’s clear he doesn’t take himself seriously. I’ve never seen such a down-to-earth and dorky person like him who also happens to have a “star” tag on him. He is at ease with himself, comfortable in his own skin and clearly does his own thing. He’s the kind of person who would never get a super ego and everyone can connect with and feel at ease with. He connects with his audience.

As far as tummy goes–well when I saw him during the A.I. tour (10 feet away), he looked very slim. The camera definitely adds weight. He is not fat by any means and he’s not bothered by it or obsessed by it like society today is.

I also suspect that he would be the kind of guy who could love someone who doesn’t have that “model” figure and accept that person no matter what.

Keel, I did suspect that of the Chariots of Fire reply. And after all the previous items on taquitos, burgers, hating vegetables and what not, I did wonder about the food comments too!

Oh well, as long as he keeps on trying. And nothing like an expensive trainer to force one to keep in shape.

I’m just glad I got this out Ãƒ ¢Ã¢â€š ¬’ it’s been on my mind for a while. :lol_wp:

Word to all of Seachange’s post, though I have to confess, Seachange, that I think David was being snarky in some of his responses in that Men’s Fitness article. But I do believe him that he has a personal trainer and is working on getting rid of the belly. Not sure about the salmon and asparagus part though, and, for sure, don’t believe the part about him working out to ‘Chariots of Fire.’ That sounded like classic Cook snarkitude.

CathyMK, I’m not hating the tummy, and I know firsthand it’s near impossible to get rid of Ãƒ ¢Ã¢â€š ¬’ it’s not only the Irish, LOL. Just saying I’m not adoring it, as it’s precisely the fat around the middle of the body that will impact on his health in the long run. He has already had an episode or two (at 25!), so he has to be more careful than most. The Men’s Health article was one of the most welcome reads I’ve had Ãƒ ¢Ã¢â€š ¬’ a big relief to know that he IS taking care of himself. If he’s already doing pushups, what’s wrong with alternating those with a few crunches? He probably already is Ãƒ ¢Ã¢â€š ¬’ good on him!

I agree with the earlier post that his tummy is part of his nerdy persona, and I want to believe that the adoration is for that, not the physical tummy itself (although . . ). I don’t expect that it will transform into six-pack abs (at least not soon), just that he doesn’t let it go.

Hahaha, I canNOT believe I am posting about tummies!

Oh, Keel, (and SeaChange), if only it were that easy! As another person of Irish descent and with a stocky build, I can tell you that for some of us, no matter how much weight we lose, or how much we work out, a little bit of padding is going to stay behind. My 15 year old son is very thin and muscular, but still has that same little bit of a tummy. Since it’s the only fat anywhere on his body, I don’t worry about it affecting his health! I haven’t seen David without a shirt, but thanks to T-shirts and Guitar Hero, we’ve all seen that his arms and legs are muscular and not flabby at this point. Judging from the fit of some of those shirts, I don’t think he exactly has a huge spare tire either. If that little tummy is the only part of him that’s not “in shape”, I’m not going to worry about it. We all have to work with the body we’re given, and some of us are luckier than others, including other members of our families. David looks great, and is obviously trying to take care of himself. His health status beyond that is really none of our business.

He’s not physically perfect, but thank goodness for that. Those who are attracted to him are attracted by something else besides a perfect body, I think. His intense eyes, for instance, and intelligence. Personally I think he’s very attractive, but there are many things that make him that way to me. It’s who he is, it’s the whole package. Our culture’s too hung up on perfect bodies, but often those people don’t have much to say really. I think DC has a lot to say … a lot to give. And he’s saying and giving it and yes, it works for me. :cool_wp:

Well if it makes you feel better he is taking care of himself. He has a trainer (he has mentioned it) and he is now eating healthy. (poor guy must be missing the cheez-its)
Actually, even has a performer who likes to run around the stage it’s good that he keeps in shape.

Having said this, that kinda of tummy is really not that big or something to worry about. It’s cutie. The Happy Trail is the best part.

Although I think David’s tummy is adorable and his lack of vanity in actually showing it to us is admirable, I think that he DEFINITELY should get rid of it. Not necessarily get a 6-pack mind you, but the tummy needs to go. Cute and ‘real’ though it may be, the reality is that he is only 25 years old, does not appear to have a genetic predisposition for obesity (based on his mom, dad and blood siblings’ weight) AND has a history of high blood pressure. A spare tire or gut, whatever you want to call it, together with a history of high blood pressure for such a young guy, is not good. A large midsection is a key predictor for heart disease and I want Cook to be around a long, long time. For the sake of his long term health (and I’m a huge fan), I don’t think we should get too hung up about how he should look like more of a ‘regular guy’ and more about what’s best for him.

That said, considering what he looked like during Hollywood week and his pre-Idol Tulsa pics, it looks like he is well on his way to getting rid of the belly. In the meantime, I really have to admire his ability to just say ‘whatever’ and show us his belly, knowing full well that he’s not meeting most people’s expectations of what a celeb would like– i.e., perfectly toned and chiseled gods and goddesses. He doesn’t have to go there — I just want him healthy.

I also love Talk Soup and Best Week Ever. David is a natural on these shows. It was the hi-light of my day to come home and find those videos. I even watched all of his favorite music videos. I’v never watched alot of music videos and found these most interesting.and funny. It was a o’fashioned fun and laugh fest. You have to admit he’s intertaining.

This was really funny. I agree with others who find DC’s tummy adorable. In fact, I find every thing about David Cook adorable. He is so natural on the stage, any stage. He honestly could be anything he sets out to be because he is just that likeable.

Oh I don’t! I love the tummy just as it is and hope he keeps it that way. Its refreshing to see that he doesn’t have a perfect body although I personally find his physique attractive. It just makes him look like more of a regular guy instead of the other toned to perfection male celebs.
