Bachelor Star, Gia Allemand Dead at 29 – Apparent Suicide

We’ve just began following the Bachelor/Bachelorette franchise here at the blog, and now there is some sad news to report. Gia Allemand, who appeared on Season 14 has died. She was only 29.

UPDATE: Gina died of an apparent suicide. Her boyfriend, Ryan Anderson, found her hanging and unconscious in her home on Monday and immediately called 911.  Her family took her off life support today.

A statement from her family:

“Due to a critical loss of brain and organ function, life support was withdrawn” on Wednesday, the family statement says. “Ms. Allemand passed away peacefully with her mother, boyfriend, and other lifelong friends by her side. As a practicing Christian, Gia did receive the sacrament of last rites.”

“Loved ones and fans will remember Gia Allemand as a caring woman who loved her family and was well-known for her compassion towards animals and mission to rescue homeless pets.”

Original report from TMZ:

“Bachelor” star Gia Allemand — who appeared on Season 14 of the show — is dead, a family member tells TMZ.

As we reported, the 29-year-old model had been hospitalized in New Orleans since Monday following what her family called a serious emergency medical event. The details surrounding the event are unclear, but it was announced that Allemand had been placed on life support.

Allemand’s mother and longtime boyfriend NBA player Ryan Anderson — of the New Orleans Pelicans — were at her side when she died.

Season 14 winner Vienna Girardi tells us, “Gia was a beautiful girl and an unbelievable friend. I’m shocked and can’t believe what happened to her. She seemed so happy, but never know the demons people are fighting inside. I will never forget her and will miss my friend forever.”
