Actually, I strongly recommend that anyone who’s going to the concert (or any loud concert) get a pair of musician’s earplugs. They lower the sound to a tolerable/safer volume without making it sound too muffled. My wife posted here last year about this. Our family uses Etymotic ER-20 plugs, which are cheap (compared to professional-quality ones). Also, when our daughter was 12, we got Etymotic Baby Blues for her smaller ears. You can control how much sound is blocked by pushing them far or not-so-far into your ears. I rarely have to push them in all the way, and the less you push them in, the clearer the sound is. I also suggest getting the neck strap you can order with them, so that you don’t lose them if you fumble with them.

On the subject of screaming tweens/teens, trust me — it’s not just tweens/teens! :biggrin_wp: I’ve been to three David Cook concerts (because my wife is a huge fan), and sometimes the screaming from someone near me has been far more piercing than the music. At those concerts and some others by other artists, I’ve actually pushed my earplugs in as far as they’ll go as soon as a song ends in order to block the screaming, then pulled them back out a ways when the next song starts!

I also always bring cotton balls as a backup in case I lose the earplugs.

My tickets for Portland say Orchestra 1, Row 1 and I can’t find it on the seating chart posted earlier! Are they fake?? I bought them through Tickets Now. Help!

undercooked: I think Kris will do fine with it, and my comment wasn’t meant as a swipe against Kris’s talent. I just always think of McCartney singing that song for Julian Lennon. As you probably know, McCartney wrote it for Julian, who going through a tough time as a kid after his parents divorce. I remember seeing McCartney in the late 1980s and I recall Julian Lennon had some success with his solo album just a few years earlier. John Lennon had been killed some years earlier. So for me, (and I don’t know why it left such a strong impression) but that song is forever linked to those events. I just thought of Paul comforting Julian again when I heard him perform it. I was too young to remember the Beatles being together, but I was a big McCarntey fan and did have ‘Wings The Speed of Sound’  on 8-track when I was in junior high.

I agree with you and I do not mean it as an insult or slight to Kris either. And I’m am also sure that Kris will be great doig this song. And it is a great way to transition from Kris to the Top 10 group number.

I also saw Paul perform “Hey Jude” in concert once in the 1976 Wings Over America Tour (before John’s death) and again in 1981 when he dedicated the performance to John and Julian. The 1981 performance was shortly after John’s death and it was extraordinary — and unforgettably emotional for me — and the whole audience.

I just wanted to say, yes, I had the same experience.

I have no idea where they would come out of the building, but I have the day off, so I could get there early. Wonder how you find this stuff out?

Find out where the buses are located. That’s where you’ll find them going into the venue and exiting after the show.
