She said Kris' closing number is Hey Jude and DSB is the show finale with the entire group. She said Kris and Adam seem to have a lot of interaction in the group number. It seems even the bottom six have a lot of stage time since they have a total of three group numbers. Lots of dancing.

It appears the bottom three sing two solos, next three sing three, and the bottom six have two group songs. One of the group songs is a Motown medley. Someone at rehearsal said the two group songs are pretty long, and they have lots of solos within the group numbers. She said everyone sounds really good, and, of course, she said Adam was the most amazing (even tho she was a Kris fan), with Kris next, then Allison.

Anastasia72071: I don't think I've ever actually gone to a concert where the average age was under 25, so I'm wondering how I'm going to survive all the squealing and shrieking from the tweens/teens over the whole three hours

Bring some cotton to stuff in your ears!

Actually, I strongly recommend that anyone who's going to the concert (or any loud concert) get a pair of musician's earplugs. They lower the sound to a tolerable/safer volume without making it sound too muffled. My wife posted here last year about this. Our family uses Etymotic ER-20 plugs, which are cheap (compared to professional-quality ones). Also, when our daughter was 12, we got Etymotic Baby Blues for her smaller ears. I hope it's okay to post this link to my source for buying both of these models:
musician's earplugs

You can control how much sound is blocked by pushing them far or not-so-far into your ears. I rarely have to push them in all the way, and the less you push them in, the clearer the sound is. I also suggest getting the neck strap you can order with them, so that you don't lose them if you fumble with them.

On the subject of screaming tweens/teens, trust me -- it's not just tweens/teens! :biggrin_wp: I've been to three David Cook concerts (because my wife is a huge fan), and sometimes the screaming from someone near me has been far more piercing than the music. At those concerts and some others by other artists, I've actually pushed my earplugs in as far as they'll go as soon as a song ends in order to block the screaming, then pulled them back out a ways when the next song starts!

I also always bring cotton balls as a backup in case I lose the earplugs.

Did you guys see this from someone inside the rehearsal yesterday? Made me LOL. She said there are long scarves tied around Adam's microphone stand "a la Steven Tyler. They brought it out even before Danny's set was done. They plopped it down dead center on the stage, Danny having to avoid hitting it while he finished. It was all like, 'Just in case you didn't know, HBIC is onstage next. So wrap it up, screamboy.'"

What time does the concert start Portland time? I'm sitting here in Florida, and so nervous for everyone especially Adam, waiting to hear how the show goes. I cant wait to hear feed back, and how everyone does. Oh and a video would be soooo nice.

undercooked: I think Kris will do fine with it, and my comment wasn't meant as a swipe against Kris's talent. I just always think of McCartney singing that song for Julian Lennon. As you probably know, McCartney wrote it for Julian, who going through a tough time as a kid after his parents divorce. I remember seeing McCartney in the late 1980s and I recall Julian Lennon had some success with his solo album just a few years earlier. John Lennon had been killed some years earlier. So for me, (and I don't know why it left such a strong impression) but that song is forever linked to those events. I just thought of Paul comforting Julian again when I heard him perform it. I was too young to remember the Beatles being together, but I was a big McCarntey fan and did have 'Wings The Speed of Sound' on 8-track when I was in junior high.

I agree with you and I do not mean it as an insult or slight to Kris either. And I'm am also sure that Kris will be great doig this song. And it is a great way to transition from Kris to the Top 10 group number.

I also saw Paul perform "Hey Jude" in concert once in the 1976 Wings Over America Tour (before John's death) and again in 1981 when he dedicated the performance to John and Julian. The 1981 performance was shortly after John's death and it was extraordinary -- and unforgettably emotional for me -- and the whole audience.

I just wanted to say, yes, I had the same experience.

I'm kind of disappointed that it appears Adam will start out with WLL

After Danny's set, I think starting with something upbeat is smart. Ballads into ballads = snoozy. :)

I posted a Twitter recap in the Twitter thread above. Oops! (This is called work procrastination!)

will: I think the high-decibel level of shrieking in the audience would completely overwhelm 'Mad World' if he were to open with that song. Better to start with something LOUD.

That makes sense.

Overall Kris, Adam and Alison parts sound great. I guess I'll have a lot of breaks --

Does anyone know if you can arrive late? Like just for the second half of the concert? I am going to two shows and only want to see the second half of one.

I signed up to say that I'll be attending the Sacramento concert on Saturday. I'm pretty excited. This is my third time going to an AI concert (I went last year for David Cook and also Taylor Hicks' year), and I'll definitely be taking pictures and a video or two. My little group will be in Row 5 in the center somewhere so they should turn out well. :biggrin_wp: They'll mainly be of the Top 4 because that's who I'm going for (especially Adam and Kris), but I'll try to get in some other people as well.

Teenagers drive me crazy. I'd better take some Advil before I leave home' ¦

Hey, we're not all shrieky. :razz_wp:

I have no idea where they would come out of the building, but I have the day off, so I could get there early. Wonder how you find this stuff out?

Find out where the buses are located. That's where you'll find them going into the venue and exiting after the show.

If anyone can do 'Hey Jude' justice, it's Kris Allen

I think Kris will do fine with it, and my comment wasn't meant as a swipe against Kris's talent. I was too young to remember the Beatles being together, but I was a big McCarntey fan and did have "Wings The Speed of Sound" on 8-track when I was in junior high.
