  • lakerchristinee

    Mmm, I loooove Anoop :)

  • nad

Anoop is definitley the most articulate contestant AI has ever had. He is persistent and knows what he wants and I can’t wait until someone picks him up and his album comes out. His voice had the most mainstream quailty to it. Good luck Anoop!!!

  • Dr. Tracey

Anoop says ità ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s time to start to work on his album.

    Good news.
    I was hoping he’d do one. :)

  • flyaway

Yea! Anoop verified he’s ready to record and mentioned he’d love to work with Ne-Yo. Hope that happens.

He looks great and, yes, articulate, focused, understands the AI system so up and downs (he mentioned getting them out of the way early) may have been less personal for him knowing they were using him for drama. Admire that he stayed true to his goal (using AI as a platform). Very cool.

  • Lana

OH ANOOOOOP!!!! I feel so stupid now for not voting for you, I assumed you were safe and I slipped up! DAMN DAMN DAMN well your future is bright, I know it, and I promise to be the FIRST person to run out and buy your debut Album.

  • kiwifan

Thanks so much for posting the video MJ.

Sorry, but I have to say Lil, can you just STFU and let Anoop get a word in? In that 1st interview I didn’t think she was going to draw breath! *rant over*

Anoop, love you dogg!!!! As was said above, such an articulate & classy gentleman. Also seems smart enough to make the most he can out of this opportunity.

Well done Anoop, you deserve it, and I’m sure you’ll go far no matter what you do in life.

  • xdahlia

I wished they wouldn’t combine both Lil and Anoop for all the inteviews. I just want to hear Anoop. He’s so articulate.

  • lakerchristinee

I’ve said this before, but I could definitely see Anoop in the acting biz. Well-spoken and has a youthful look–I just hope he stays around for a while!

  • flyaway

Need clarification. Dialidol shows Anoop and Lil as 6-7. Since Lil was first to go, does that mean she had the least votes? That would give her the 7th spot and Anoop 6th.

And, does that make any difference in their tour salary? Someone mentioned this earlier and last year’s tour gave the same amount of time to all contestants except the top two so would seem logical that pay was same for the rest.

  • kiwifan

Yeah, MJ, do you know if there is a difference in pay between 5th & 6th (as I think 5th is where Anoop rightfully would have been in a non save world).

Don’t the top 5 sing at least 3 songs instead of 2?

  • bean99

I think Lil must be 7th and Anoop 6th. They did the same thing in season 6 when Phil was released before Chris. I have no idea about tour money but thought the people in the first half of the show got less per show. Kind of annoying if that’s true and Anoop could have been top 5 without the save.

Anoop is so well spoken and it’s even more noticeable after listening to Lil. It just figures that he has to share his interviews/appearances. It fits with the way he’s been shortchanged all season. I hope he gets some great opportunities thrown his way now.

  • nad

I’m pretty sure Lil was the lowest vote getter because Ryan called Anoop and Allison to round out the bottom 3. So that would put Anoop 6th. Thats still quite an acclompishment from 100,000 ppl.

  • cheese

Last year, everyone except for Archie and Cook had three songs on tour, IIRC. One thing Anoop will probably miss out on is a duet with a celebrity guest on the Idol finale (I think the Top 5, except for Jason, got to do that last year)

As a 6th place finisher, maybe he’ll have to sing “The Letter” with Michael Johns.

  • dusty

What did Anoop mean “we’re moving out of the mansion, anyway”?

Are all of them (including the 5 remaining) moving out of the mansion?

  • kiwifan

Lil made me laugh, voted off the show and she is STILL arguing in two of the interviews that the judges were wrong. Get over yourself Lil.

  • ahorseofcourse

Who will VFTW pick up on now that Lil is gone?

  • kiwifan

MJ, think there may be only 1 song sung by each of the top 5 this week.

Was over at EW, reading their Q&A of Anoop and when asked what Rat Pack song he would have sung he said probably “That’s Life”, by Frank Sinatra.

  • dulce

Wow. To be honest, I was a bit saddened by Anoop’s departure last night. He should have outlasted AT LEAST the Gokester (who I think is boring as anything I’ve ever seen on this show) and Matt (who’s off key caterwauling is just getting old). That being said, I think Anoop went as far as he could reasonably go and that’s a good thing. It’s far worse being the “Jasmine Trias” of the season, outlasting people that are obviously far more prepared than you for this jump into superstardom. But as it stands, he leaves on a classy note, and he can be very very proud of that.

Based on what Anoop’s interviews have been like, a few things are obvious.
He’s an articulate, very intelligent, composed, good-looking kid who, as he proved last night, is talented. And I think that was his problem. He needed to come off as the singer who happened to be all of these great things and instead, he was what he was: an all arounder with a great work ethic who JUST HAPPENED to be able to sing well. It works in smaller settings, when people don’t expect it of you. But sometimes, if the “shift” doesn’t happen in your mind, making it to the next level becomes more difficult. And this is where Anoop stumbled the most: finding himself and portraying that on stage in spite of whatever smart workings were going on in his head. He never quite let go and it showed. That being said, I think he’s the type of person who will pretty much succeed at anything they do in life. He’s the guy that will decide oh…in his mid forties that he wants to go to medical school after finishing a professor gig at Duke…and then going through with it and winning out in the end.

Will he make an album? Well…I always got the feeling from Anoop that this, in parts, was just a sojourn into something that he never thought possible for him, that he has a path and has never really left it. He wants to make a record, and I’m sure that he will make one, but I don’t see that being his only option nor his best option. But these are all things that will sort themselves out in time. My guess? He has a blast on tour, invests the money wisely, finishes grad school with eight million degrees at the end of it, and ends out cashing out those investments in the end and living quite largely. He should be proud of himself for what he accomplished. It’s no small feat.

  • kiwifan

Interesting, here’s Anoop’s comments about his Beat It critique from The LA Times:

What’s the biggest lesson you are taking from this experience?

I’ve learned how to bounce back and that’s the thing that’s going to serve me well in the future. The first harsh criticism I got, after “Beat It,” I was distraught. I really was. But I had to bounce back in order to do well the next week. And I learned how to do that, and I did. That’s a life lesson. So I’m glad I had that opportunity.

I would’ve been distraught also. That had to be tough to take in fornt of 2o odd million.

  • pj

I don’t know if Noopie will be successful in music (not because he’s not talented, but it’s extremely difficult). He will be successful in life. Very classy guy.

  • chicksineggz

I hate that Anoop has to be voted off with Lil. Lil is so annoying. Oh, Anoop. I love you.

In season 6, I actually liked when Phil and Chris were booted off together.

  • Grammie Kari

Isn’t there any way to separate the two of them? Anoop is so much more interesting. Maybe he can make an appearance on the Ellen Show or Letterman. I want to hear more from him!

AI really screwed up bring in the insane “save” procedure. We are missing the opportunity to hear him sing, “That’s Life”! What song will he be singing as they make the rounds on the talk shows?

(There is a commercial for a Frank Sinatra’s unreleased CD, “Live at the Meadowlands” appearing on TV right at this moment.)

Yea! Anoop verified heà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s ready to record and mentioned heà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢d love to work with Ne-Yo. Hope that happens.

That would be wonderful news to hear if it does happen. May life bring the best to him; he certainly deserves it.

  • Meg23

    As a 6th place finisher, maybe heà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ll have to sing à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“The Letterà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ with Michael Johns.

    HAHAHAHAHA!!!

in his mid forties that he wants to go to medical school after finishing a professor gig at Duke

LOL, somehow I doubt that diehard Tar Heel will end up at Duke!

Oh Anoop, you are one talented and classy guy. Do what makes you happy…but I’m totally selfish so I hope singing is what always makes you happy. I need to hear that beautiful voice often.

ETA: Oh, and thanks for taking care of us with the videos MJ! You’re really helping us through the mourning process.

  • madmike2276

I know that I am going against the majority here, but I don’t understand the attacks on Lil. Fine, if of the two that were eliminated you prefer Anoop, fantastic…praise him, but there is no need to try to life Anoop while pushing down Lil.

Yes, they are sharing interviews. But that is life, I prefer Lil because she has spark. The judges built her up, and set the bar so high for her in terms of expectation, I knew she would not do well. I think that she can sing, but she is still green. While many think she is rude, or argumentative, I think she is/was just frustrated. She, in my opinion, tried to hard to do what the judges told her and it went against her instincts. So when her performances were lackluster, she must have been torn. I believe, that she believes that she was doing what she was told, and week after week, it was off. I do believe that she is better than what she showed us on the Idol stage, and with time, and the right material could do ok for herself. However, I don’t think record labels will be knocking down her door.

Anoop, he had his moments where he sang very well, and was pleasant to listen to. However, something about him didn’t do it for me. I agree with the assessment that he is well spoken, but he is just “eh” to me. I think what he lacks is the passion for music. I wish him well.

  • movin2thabeet

My sense is that Lil doesn’t have a clue what the judges were saying about artistry. Seems to me she thinks she has a good strong voice, likes R&B and does a good job with that style, so what’s the problem. I just don’t think it clicks with her that she needs to have her own unique voice. Sigh.

I think Anoop has to find a way to surrender to the music when he’s performing and get totally out of his head. I think that’s his challenge. It’s as if the slower songs work better because he has plenty of room for both his head and his voice/emotions there. But on the faster songs, his voice is busy playing catchup. I sense that he’s kind of aware of this issue and enjoys the challenge it presents. Maybe the Clef Hangers drowned out the messages from his head. (Just a theory).

  • savgal

Love Anoop! Definitely raised the SAT score of the average AI contestant.
Cool that he thinks of AI now as a life lesson. Bet that he has always succeeded in life, and has had few defeats or disappointments, so he has not needed to learn how to bounce back, as he put it. With this very subjective show, it has probably been a challenge for him to not come out on top when he is doing what he perceives as “his best”. Looking forward to seeing him on tour.

  • bean99

I think they’ll both be on Ellen but it would be nice to have Anoop alone. She really liked Anoop early on so you never know what may happen in the future.

I finally got to listen to the first 2 interviews. Loved hearing Anoop. I really think he did learn a lot from being on the show. As someone who bought all his recordings, he really does have a sound that would play well now so hope he gets a chance. I actually think his voice was just as good on the fast songs other than Beat It. The recordings of Caught Up and the latest ones are really good and I have his live version of My Prerogative. I think the problem became that he was overthinking after Beat It with very bad comments and then Caught Up not going over with the judges either although the vocals were good. I don’t think he always wanted to do ballads but that was the only time they seemed to like him. His last song was actually a great choice even if Simon didn’t like it. I think the tour will do wonders in his confidence performing and will help him a lot.

Wow! Totally agreed on eveything you said about Anoop. SPot On! :thumbup_tb:

I am waiting in eager anticipation just to see what Anoop will come up with after the tour, be it putting out an album or acting, or BOY-BAND (Anoop go for it!) or White House. HAHAhahahh! :lol_wp:

Oh yeah and Anoop, one more thing…. YOU GOTTA LOOSEN UP! Stop thinking so much….too much thinking destroys the brain. :wallbash_tb:

  • nonsequitur

I guess I ‘m in a minority here but I kind of like that two of them get to do the bootee media blitz together — misery loving company and all.

As for Anoop, I recall a very early interview in which he mentioned becoming increasingly comfortable every time he took the stage, and that he could actually envision pursuing music as a career. Apparently, he hadn’t fully embraced the notion prior to coming to Hollywood. To me, this added to the perception that he was doing the whole Idol thing as a lark/dare/unfulfilled promise. He never displayed anywhere near the desperation of some other contestants who had not a clue what else to do with themselves if their dream of being a singer was squashed. I personally found this quality very appealing, and that’s when I started paying attention. Once he got into the spirit of the competition though, his intense work ethic kicked in and I do think he gave it his all. But I also get what a couple of earlier posters said about his not fully surrendering to the music.

It’s curious that he said he probably wouldn’t be returning to school. I always had the feeling that his grad school stint was sort of a way station on his life journey while he figured out what he wanted to do with himself. Masters programs across the land are populated with bright young people deferring their entry to the real world by hanging out a couple more years in the relative comfort and ease of the student lifestyle. For many, grad school is kind of an elite and socially acceptable form of slacking (I know whereof I speak). Hopefully, this whole experience will allow Anoop to narrow his goals, and I agree with the legions of others who think he’ll do just fine no matter what.

  • rockvixen

Lil’s favorite moment is falling down on her ass while playing basketball? Geez.
It’s all about herself as usual.

Anoop is a very cool guy and his intelligence is very sexy. Nice guy and I’ll buy his cd.

  • haininh

Hi MJ, thanks for putting up those videos.

Anoop, I’m glad that you’re out on a good note. Your performance on the result night was amazing. I will buy your CDs and support you all the way :-) . Happy going home Trooper :-) .

  • bean99

Anyone else get a message about a live chat with Anoop today 5 to 5:30 eastern? I text voted for him and Allison so wonder if that’s why I got it. I’m still at work then so can’t do it but hope they put a transcript somewhere.

  • Jillianjiggs

bean99, there are TONS of Anoop videos and a transcript of the text chat on noop-dogg.com.

I am still sad that Anoop is not there, but as everyone is saying, he is a classy, intelligent, articulate, amazing, SEXY singer, who will go far in life at whatever he does. He’s very inspirational in my opinion. He’s hard working and gracious even when he gets criticized. One of the best contestants on American Idol.

I am so looking forward to Anoop’s album. I’m not sure if I’ll be in Ontario for their Canadian tour stop, but I will definitely be keeping an eye on his career.

And yes, it is annoying to have all of their interviews together, but I’m sure Anoop doesn’t mind sharing, he’s just that great. I do wonder if he gets as annoyed as I do listening to Lil (mis)speak!
