So…what exactly was so shocking about these eliminations? It went exactly as I predicted.

Top 5

  • Nuttin But Stringz
  • Queen Emily
  • Neal E. Boyd
  • Donald Braswell
  • Eli Mattson

Next Wednesday is the finals. Not a minute too soon…

Recap and Videos after the JUMP…

Jerry Springer says Millions of people voted and promises “major shocks” OMG!

Nuttin But Stringz and the Wright Kids step forward. Bye kiddies! Nuttin But Stringz advances to the Top 5. I’m glad the kids aren’t crying. Oh Yay. The eliminated acts get goodbye videos.

Joseph Hall and Queen Emily step forward. Crappy Elvis must die! Whew. Queen Emily advances to the Top 5. Now, for a video recap of the best craptacular moments of crappy Elvis.

More shocking results coming up first! But first, a performance from Natasha Bedingfield performing her single, “Angel”. I don’t love her songs, but you would never mistake her for anyone else if you heard her on the radio. She’s got a very distinctive sound.

Back to the eliminations

Kaitlyn Maher and Neal E. Boyd take center stage. Time for the little one to go home. Neal E. Boyd advances to the Top 5. Kaitlyn may or may not understand what’s going on, as her goodbye video plays. Well, she’s not crying, but she’s not smiling either.

Paul Salos and Donald Braswell take center stage… Donald Braswell advances to the Top 5. Now for the “best” moments of Fake Frank.

Jessica Price and Eli Mattson take center stage. This better not be a shock. It’s not. Eli Mattson advances to the Top 5. YAY! Check out Jessica’s sister booing Eli. Classy!

Crud — I was hoping the “big shock” was that Neal Boyd was going home. Now I’m stuck with Queen and Neal Boyd. Jeesh. The things I’ll do for Eli.

  • Lisa

    WooHoo Eli!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • baxter

Where the hell were the “Shocking Results”?????

And you could really tell from the look on Jessica’s face that when she was left with Eli that she had no chance. And what is up with sticking Eli with the blond singers…bwahahahahah!!!

ETA…Uhhhhh MJ, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, although the top 5 perform next week, I think we have to wait until the following week for the finale and the announcement of the winner. SAWRY!!!

Lisa- LOL!! Poor guy. Thought he was going to puke or passout. Jerry has gone to the Ryan Seacrest School of Delayed Pauses.

  • Lisa

They are trying to hook him up I think Bax, lol.

That was my top 5 picks, no surprises there.

  • soccerboi

No surprises at all. As I predicted. I wonder who is getting the most votes though. They waited to the end to put Eli up there and I would hope that he is the top vote getter. I just can’t see anyone else winning this thing. If they do it is a real shame and a sham. Is there just a finale? Is it over next week? They didn’t do it like this last year…

    Eli for the win!

  • smartcookie

Thanks for recapping so quickly, mj. This way I can find out the results without actually having to watch the show. I like Eli and Nuttin’, but they’re not worth having to sit through Pierce the Pissy, Sharon the Annoying and Hoff the Off His Rocker. Or, for that matter, sad old Sinatra guy, way-too-little kid, Awful Elvis, Neal E. Bad and Messica.

I do like Eli a lot, though. I think he looks kind of like David Cassidy during the Patridge years, without the 70′s shag haircut. I think Nuttin’ might be a better Vegas headline act (complete with flames and Cirque ladies) while Eli is better suited for a recording contract.

  • baxter

Here’s my take on the whole “Vegas Gig”

They are going to take the top 5 and make a show out of them for the one night in Vegas. The Vegas Headliner show is only for one show, not a contract for mulitple shows.

The title “Headliner” comes in with the winner closing out the show and getting their name prominently lighted on the sign outside the concert hall. SO while I agree with many of you that think Eli would make a better touring and recording artist, I still think winning the million ( paid out over 40 years as an annuity…LOL) and the headline spot are still pretty damn cool. I don’t see Eli “doing” Vegas as a full time gig. Play one show, get signed, record and tour your butt off.

    ELI FTMFW!!!

    ETA…J.S.G. LMFAO!!! Perfection!!

  • J.S.G.

Well Jessica’s gone. I hope everyone is happy. She probably would have been voted into the top five if you guys hadn’t of said all those mean things about her.
Now it is back to a fatherless family, helping her mother raise all those children. Back to the mundane factory job where she has to wear that sac on her head. A fate that is so cruel.
And did you see the ending. Eli didn’t even acknowledge her with a hug or handshake. Just celebrated his own victory, and walked off the stage. How ungrateful is that?
Yet Jessica was so gracious, thanking America for the opportunity and then with her lower lip quivering, turning to walk off the stage.
Now I’ll never hear that nasally voice again. My heart is broken.

  • Frogpond

Well Jessica may have been gracious ,her sister was not .

Glad Eli made it through yeah Eli FTW

  • Lisa

Well you could look at it this way. The lady that was *too old* for AI is washing BOK windows…… Jessica will at least still have the factory job…

  • J

I’ve never seen the show so I do appreciate u, MJ, posting these clips. I think that Kaitlyn (she is sooooo cute) has shown up some other contestants (not just this show) in the grown up gracious manner in which she handled her defeat. I know she is only 4 but I believe she knew what was going on. (I thought she was holding back tears)

Now, on the other hand (speaking as a Mom now) I believe that she is way too young to be put in such a pressure situation. A child should be a child. ***climbs off soapbox***

  • wjmtv

I think Jessica’s been reading the ‘net. She knew. Hope doesn’t make that face.

I’ll tell you what the shocker was for me: Natasha Bedingfield, who I’ve never seen before.

She isn’t gorgeous! Yet she has a viable recording career!! WTF???????????

ETA: It wouldn’t surprise me if Kaitlyn got a modeling contract or endorsement deal or twelve out of all this.

  • emwcee

No shockers here. Those were my top five picks. I hope Eli wins.

  • hcpoirot

From the 5 left acts, my prediction is: Eli or Nuttin but The String will win.

Why? Simple. Three other competitors left are big belter so their votes will probably split to three . Eli and NBTS are just different.

Anyway, I want Eli to win. But if Donald or NBTS win, its okay too. I am not crazy about Queen Emily or Neal win because of the sob stories and all the sympathy votes.

If Donald do win, it would be the big surprise of all time considering the judges pass on him for the teacher that talk back to the judges and the man/woman who sing in two voices. Donald at least was better then them by miles.

Its like a slap in the face for the judges. Huahahahaha (Sometimes they do need that)

  • bjames

i think i’m alone here, but i’d rather listen to the 4 year old sing over eli. something about his voice is so unsettling to me (and my friends who i’ve watched it with).

i’m sad to see jessica go. i know she’s not the greatest talent out there, but i really liked her.

  • JJ123

Thanks for the videos mj! I always forget about this show haha! I LOOOOVE Eli!! He seems too good for this show though. I’m glad Kaitlyn is off for obvious reasons but I am so very impressed by her. I’m the mother of a 4 year old and he won’t even sing his ABCs upon request if he’s not in the mood. I’m the coach of his soccer team with 4 and 5 year olds and every single game there are at least 2 kids that don’t even make it off their mother’s laps so just the fact that she got up on stage is AMAZING….everything else is mindblowing, she really is a special little girl.

  • dancingqueen

NBS or Eli – though, IMO NBS is better for Vegas.

  • http://forums.delphiforums.com/fallings/start JudinNH

I just watched my replay of last night’s show. After Eli was announced to move on the camera panned immediately to the audience. When it came back I could see only Jessica and Gerry on stage. The camera did not show Eli acknowledging Jessica – that does not mean it did not happen.

I’m so happy for Eli! He is such a hard working musician and has really paid his dues. Even at this stage of the competition he shows humility and awe. He is not caught up with himself. I like this part of him.

    Go Eli!

  • Ladybug

I was gonna post yesterday, but it never made it through the internets to the mjsbigblog destination.

Ah well. The ones I wanted in the finale are there and I get to hear Donald sing again. I actually voted for him hoping I would not have to hear Fake Elvis and Little Miss Off-Key (but Remembers ALL the Words) again. Whew!

I am actually hoping for an end soon to this less-than-spectacular year. I do like Eli, but he is so wrong for the vibe of this program, IMO. It is almost embarrassing every time he performs, bracketed by the goofy sideshow talent this show promotes.

On to Dancing with the Stars, Amazing Race and Survivor!! Reality show ho in da house!

  • Patchchat

    My hearing is going…

After Nuttin but Strings won, Jerry goes over to the children to commend them. I thought he said “Let me say to the white kids…”

    I was like “wha?”

Then I thought about it for a sec and thought “oh….the Wright kids.”

It’s particulary comical given the kids were standing next to Nuttin but Strings.

I just went all racial and stuff… :)
