I’m busy with the So You Think You Can Dance finale tonight. I recorded the last hour of the show, and I’ll put up some video later. Tonight, Sharon, Piers and Hoff choose the Top 40.

In the meantime, if anyone watched the show tonight…discuss away!

I missed the first 1/2 hour of the show due to watching SYTYCD. Will someone please tell me if Eli made it thru?? I hate this show with a passion, but damn I want Eli to go thru.

    Help me out PLEASE!!!! :)

  • Frogpond

Yes he did make it through

  • Frogpond

The little 4yr old girl made it also .Of course some acts I am scratching my head over.

  • baxter

Frogpond- I owe you BIG!! Thank you very much.

  • Frogpond

    Your welcome

I think he sang an Elton John song while he played piano it was very brief .Compared to the others they showed.

I also heard David Cook Time of my life playing during a part of the show .
Thought all you Cook fans would like to know that .
They played Some Where over the Rainbow but it was not Jason’s I think it should have been .

I, too, was scratching my head over some of the acts they put through, and, those they cut. Both of the heavy set opera type singers went through, and, I can’t stand either of them. I just don’t care for that type of music. On the other hand, I thought Donald Craswell, the dad of 3, should’ve gone through. They put both female impersonators through. This show is starting to suck. It seems so obvious that Simon Cowell is behind every move made.

I would have loved to hear Eli singing the whole version of *Your Song*!

    Eli FTW!!!

  • gingerly

Your Song is and always has been my favorite Elton John song. I’d have love to have seen the whole thing too. I don’t know if I can watch the show, however. May have to rely on MJ’s generosity for the videos.

Anyone know what the next step in the competition is? Do they put the 40 into groups and then have them compete for “X” number of slots each week … and then whittle it down from there?

Or is there another “judge’s cut”?

Eli for the Win! I completely agree, however I was disappointed they didn’t put the oldish mother who sang the blues through to the 40. There are plenty of “decoys” in this group of 40 and she certainly could have taken one of those places.

Loved Baton Boy’s comment of what his friend told him: Just go ahead and get yourself on the show and you will still have made it farther than the losers that used to make fun of you.

    Yep.

Man, I hate this show. How about you find people with actual talent and put them through based on that talent instead of just because they have a sappy backstory? The 4 year old may be the cutest 4 year old in the history of 4 year olds, but is she talented? No. Maybe she will be a good singer in the future, but her voice hasn’t developed. Why? BECAUSE SHE’S FREAKING 4 YEARS OLD! Also, lip synching while cross dressing as Tina Turner is not a talent. Maybe if you sang like Tina Turner while looking like her, but that’s not what happened. I have other examples, but I will refrain. It’s just going to make me mad.

I was also mad that TOML was used as the feel good song when the Chippendales dancer was put through….not because it’s just the greatest song ever…I mean come on, magic rainbows…but just because this show is such a piece of crap.

Joanna, tell us how you really feel. :-)

But I totally agree with you. How the heck is a 4 year old going to have a freaking show in Las Vegas? Do they seriously think people will pay big money to watch her for 2.5 hours? And I’m sorry, the 9 year old boy is in the same boat (but not sure if he went through or not). Are their parents going to move into a casino?

I didn’t watch it last night – did any of the older crying ladies make it through “This is my last shot…”?

  • Lisa

At this point, I will watch it long enough every week just to see Eli & to vote for him. The rest I could care less about. I just want Eli to get a record deal so I can buy his music.

Last year was very entertaining. I was/am a huge Terry Fator fan, & I also loved Cas Haley. Butterscotch was ok.

  • Joanna

Haha…sorry…I did get a little carried away. I know you’re thinking if it’s so awful, why does she watch it? I really only watched during commercial breaks for SYTYCD, and it was still so painful that I sometimes turned back to Fox to watch commercials instead of the anti-talent.

ugh. this show triggers my gag reflex. I can spot the we’re-setting-you-up-to-make-it-look-like-you’re-leaving-then-pull-a-180-and-let-you-through speech from a mile away.

Are their parents going to move into a casino?

I think parents who are willing to put a 4 year old through a televised reality competition are just the kind of people who wouldn’t mind taking up residence in a Vegas casino.

The thing of it is, she’s just 4 years old, so she understands none of this. She has no concept of what’s going on, and she can’t make an informed decision to participate in these kinds of activities. So, this is all about the parents and their need for recognition – it has nothing to do with her.

Being only 4, there are going to parts of this process that are absolutely terrifying for her – only they won’t show those moments on TV. And, sometimes, she’s just going to want a nap – but no, she’ll have to go out there and be the performing monkey.

Rehearsing, waiting all day for your turn, all of the crowds, and the ultimate rejection she’ll face – these things are all just too much for a 4 year old. It’s really just deplorable. Good golly I effing hate stage parents.

The thing of it is, sheà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s just 4 years old, so she understands none of this. She has no concept of whatà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s going on, and she canà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t make an informed decision to participate in these kinds of activities.

On the contrary! Sharon Osbourne asked her if she wanted to move on in the competition and she said yes, so that tooootally makes it ok!
