    “Wait, Taylor Swift is Country? I’m confused.”

    I am too and amazed how well works this country confusion, I think TS likes to play and confuse people/young audience. No matter what she’s really doing with her love-style that inspires many of her songs, the silly, fun and innocence factors are in her music and videos and work well for her success. Even the AMA performance has started with innocent Taylor in the white dress then going to a dark Taylor; I was distracted more of her big feet in those boots than all her transitions/metamorphosis in her performance.

    Not being a rap fan, or pop fan, I watched a good part of the AMA’s anyway. One thing I’ve concluded like many others, is that Taylor Swift is in no way country and really should not be winning awards in that category! What I enjoyed was Luke Bryan’s excitement over winning an award. He was beside himself!

    Swift is a country artist who does country crossover music-heavy on the crossover! lol She still “self-identifies” as a country artist, so the country establishment is going to go with that. Besides Adele, Taylor sells more albums than any other artist. The country music world is going to claim her as long as she will claim them. They have a superstar selling machine who is representing the genre of country music around the world, they are going to embrace that.

    Rewatching some of last night’s performances, I cannot help but wonder if the latest crop of industry producers, directors and editors all go to the “ADHD School of Visual Arts.”

    The constant 1/2 second camera cuts and back-lighting so bright it washes out the image creates such a visual overload that we really don’t get to SEE the performance at all, IMHO.  In some cases, it’s so bad, you might as well just listen to radio!

    At least at a live concert, even if it’s ear-damaging loud, you get to see the artist and what they’re doing. . .
