I am a fan of Adam’s music, but I may never get used to his perfomances. All in, balls out; I guess that’s Adam’s style, but it made me cringe.

In that post-show interview, he is clearly happy and relaxed. So, he’s satisfied with the performance, nothing to worry about.

If he’s “satisfied with the performance” he’d better get a grip.

To me FYE is the worst song from Adam’s album – so was not the best to showcase what he can do!!

I hope this is all a learning curve for Adam . He had been the media darling but cracks are starting to appear . Maybe he should leave the ‘risque” performances to his own shows & not when he’s being televised!!

Before Adam started to perform, they showed the audience and a lot of seats were empty. I saw one couple trying to sneak out … I wonder how empty the theatre was and what stars stayed for it. Adam looked pissed and the close-up at the end looked like he was near tears. It just felt all sorts of wrong to me.

I wasn’t shocked by any of it, the kiss, the face in the crotch, (the edit did shock me, I admit), but I’m tired of the whole … (actually I don’t even know what to call it). This whole dark sexual subculture, albeit gay or straight or bi, is getting on my nerves.

In theatre, envelopes can be pushed and they are everyday, but prime time television, not so much. I don’t know what he’s thinking. Adam doesn’t have any “successes” under his belt to save him. No hit singles, no hit albums to bouy him up if wrong career decisions are made. I really don’t know ….

Well, today is my birthday, and I was planning to go to Target and buy Adam’s CD. After the AMA performance, I cannot do it in good conscience. I have never really liked the album cover or the song FYE, and after last night, I don’t care if I ever hear it again. I would really like to pretend the whole thing never happened.

That said, I really like some of the other songs on the album, so I will buy the individual songs that I do like on itunes.

I was not totally shocked by the performance…I had seen the reports from rehearsal. It’s like the performace was a big EFF U to the AI machine…maybe even the AI fans. It was kind of a betrayal, I felt. It was waaay too much too soon. He is not Madonna several years into her career. And this was not a tour concert that would not be televised. I am sure in Adam’s world, folks are very liberal when it comes to sexual expression. But the truth is that a large part of America is conservative when it comes to that. For him or his managment to ignore that is short-sighted. And possibly damaging to his career.

Hasn’t Adam said time and again that it’s all about the music? It was most certainly not at the AMAs.

That is the other thing I forgot to mention. His face at the end told the whole story. He was not happy with his performance, I don’t care what he tweets now or says now. I remember thinking he had a similar, but to a much lesser degree, unhappy face after singing “Feelin Good” on AI, the week that put him in the bottom 2. (His studio verison of FG was excellent and showed how he needs to lose the cabaret-ness). Just go with excellent vocals please! The applause last night, was polite, but delayed by the audience b/c the performance was vulgar, clumbsy and he sounded bad. The only people who will rewatch that are his diehard fans, so the first impression will last. I did rewatch it and it did not change my mind. I don’t feel that any artist starting out should be so arrogant to say “bye” to any potential fans. He can sing his face off, and he performs well on stage..usually. He didn’t do either one of those things last night. And, to be vulgar on network t.v.? Why? To make a statement?

I’m a pretty liberal person but I feel the same way about say, a show like The L Word. I like the L Word when it’s about relationships, and yes, the sex is a part of relationships, but when EVERY. SINGLE. EPISODE. SOMEONE. TAKES. THEIR. CLOTHES. OFF. I mean, really? If you don’t want to be stereotyped as the “Lesbian show where chicks make out 24/7″ – DON’T MAKE-OUT 24/7. I feel the same way about Adam. If he doesn’t want people to talk about his sexuality or if he doesn’t want sex to be the main focus of his career, then ease up on the posing provocatively on magazines, crotch-grabbing onstage and talking about going down on a girl in your interviews.

Re: vocals – I agree that they should have been way better.

What I don’t get is that after the OUT controversy, Adam is all, “I’m not a spokesman for the gay community”, and then he makes out with a guy on stage.
