Simon Cowell was just interviewed by Piers Morgan concerning her death. Simon called her a troubled woman and said we would be hearing some unpleasant things in the coming weeks if not months. He and Piers also strongly hinted that drugs were somehow involved. They of course mourned her death as an artist and as a friend.

  • Kylee

I’m sure Jordin Sparks is devestated-they just worked together for the movie. I’m sure that movie is going to be a big one now.

  • Judy Purcell

Such sad news, another voice silenced way to soon. Her spirit will live through her music forever.Rest In Peace Whitney

“Simon called her a troubled woman and said we would be hearing some

    Simon, kindly STF UP!

He used her for Buzz, and to deflect from his less than stellar show, by having an anonymous “source” leak that there was a judges chair on offer – and that opened the door to every sort of nastiness on the internet, only a small example of it was ever seen here. Not that he would care. Some people actually believe whatever rumors he starts. It’s probably to his advantage now to pretend the rumor was real.

If “Sparkle” is in the can – the internet buzz for Whitney ought to have been about that – not Simon and his blessed show. If he wants to come across as someone ‘in the know’ about events leading to her death, and still make it ‘all about Simon’ – tonight is certainly not the time to do it. No one else is behaving that badly that I have seen – What an insensitive piece of work. IMO. Of Course.

My sympathies are for the Whitney we lost so long ago, and for the loss of whatever redemption she may have achieved, and her family and friends.

  • Kariann Hart

You know my feelings about Simon, (ugh – dislike) but actually Simon gave an interesting interview.

“Sparkle” is to be released in August.  I think it should be released for Mother’s Day.  She plays Jordin’s mother.  I bet Jordin is really upset.  This would be Whitney’s last performance.

On Twitter:  Amber Riley is supposed to sing,  “I Will Always Love You” on Tuesday’s episode as well.  This is just so sad.  My daughters loved her music, as well as I did.  Wondering if she had a heart attack?

  • Anonymous

    Melanie’s was quite touching.
And No shock that Randy still name drops even at times like these.

  • Axxxel

Strange coincidence that Glee’s Valentine episode will feature a Whitney Houston cover version of the Dolly Parton song… am sure Amber’s performance of this song will be stellar.

  • Leandro

@DurbinRock Rest in Peace Whitney Houston!!! You will Forever Rock on our stereos & in our hearts!!!

  • Anonymous

Thanks for adding James’ tweet, Leandro – I had read his and looked to see before posting it myself.

  • Miz

Simon and Piers don’t know any more than we do what the cause of death was. The coroner hasn’t examined her body yet. It will be a while before toxicology reports are complete and released.

It’s a well known fact that she had a drug problem and supposedly was cleaning up her act.

  • Kariann Hart

I spent much to much time watching CNN and later FOX news talking about Whitney.  What an amazing voice and talent.  I hope “Sparkle” turns out to be a box office smash!  I knew Jordin was in it, but so is Cee Green.

The irony of Melanie meeting Whitney at the throat doctor this week is so unbelievable.  I wonder if Brandy and Monica will still sing their dedication song for Whitney.  She worked with them earlier in the week.

Ratings for the Grammy Show are going to be through the roof.

  • fuzzywuzzy

When Simon stooped to mentioning Whitney in the context of being a mentor on the X-Factor, he sunk to a new low.  Incredibly bad taste.

  • Anonymous

#shelivesinmyvoice Melanie? Really? What a disgusting way to make it all about her. I didn’t realize she was such an egomaniac.

  • OffLeash

    RIP Whitney.

Ugh at Simon’s and Melanie’s comments. I always knew Simon was classless, and he certainly didn’t disappoint, but I didn’t expect the same from Melanie. Birds of a feather…

  • Anonymous

Lol…I guess Melanie’s tweet could be read as “Whitney passed the torch to me, and I accept”

  • Tess

Wow, Melanie has like 8 “I”s or “me”s in a tribute tweet about Whitney.  Get a clue girl!

  • Emmy

Melanie should direct her tweets right to @thegrammys:twitter  because they obvs don’t realize the torch was passed directly to her.  They’re about to put the wrong person on stage!

  • Leandro

    “#SHELIVESINMYVOICE” – no Melanie, she doesn’t

  • Anonymous

Elliott’s tweets on one of his earliest favorite performers:
    Jeez-lew-ease!….i keep
wishin this whitney mess is all a hoax, and expecting her 2 appear w/a
performance 2mrrw nite at the grammys : (

    RIP Whitney!…wow,so sad!

What the EFF?!?!..did whitney houston really die 2day???

  • Leandro

I’m surprised to find out that Melanie has a personality. And it’s a cocky one.

  • Anonymous

UGHH! Melanie Amaro. And people wonder why many dislike her. There’s just something off-putting about her and no wonder she’s not connecting.
Now shut the eff up. You couldn’t even sell a song with a huge promo like pepsi commercial which aired during superbowl attached to it. Seriously?

  • Anonymous

LOL! Your comment cracked me up Emmy :)

Is it bad that I read her tweet in an emotional Island accent? Melanie is a very confident young lady For sure :)

  • Anonymous

Melanie shot herself in the foot.  The new self-annointed Whitney is obviously deluded by all of the hype-talk from Simon.

  • OffLeash

“#SHELIVESINMYVOICE”… Seriously? The body was still warm I bet. I’m truly shocked.  No Mel, you’re nothing like Whitney. She had more talent in her little finger than you’ll ever have. But your ego is so much bigger than hers, so there’s that.

  • Anonymous

I didn’t watch X-factor, so all I know of Melanie are her shenanigans posted by MJ here.  But seriously, that girl’s an asshole.

  • Kitwana

It’s fascinating to see how many young artists say they were influenced by Whitney growing yet how few of them sing Whitney type songs or sing in Whitney’s style. I would love to ask Miley Cyrus, for example, how Whitney influenced her to sing bubble gum pop out of tune and dance on a stripper pole. Don’t recall Whitney ever doing these things, even at the height of her addiction.

Reality is that all those great ballads Whitney sang at the height of her career would be relegated to AC radio today, if she’s lucky. If there is any positive that can come out of her death, maybe it will be a return to music where good singing matters.

I think  I speak for so many people when I say Whitney Houston, #iwillalwaysloveyou. I’m sending out prayers to the Houston family. God bless

  • Jeanne Hopkins

    Jovany Barreto

    R.I.P Whitney Houston ….

  • BonnieDee!/Lauren_Alaina  Lauren Alaina tweeted something about this as well.

  • Trina

Melanie is annoying me way more than Clive continuing with his party. Delusional twit. that hashtag is REALLY pissing me off.

  • Anonymous

I’m no fan of Melanie’s, but I’m sure she meant it as a “your voice inspired me” sentiment not “I’m just like you!”  That’s the problem with Twitter.  People press send before they’ve really thought through things – heat of emotion and all that.

  • LaurelG

    #noteverythingisaboutyou Melanie. Totally clueless.

  • BonnieDee

Have to agree with others that Melanie Amaro’s hashtag is pretty selfish, not to mention wrong.  Delusions of grandeur much, Melanie?

  • Anonymous

    Kris just tweeted as well.

#I was just talking with someone the other day about how amazing Whitney Houston was and watching YouTube vids. RIP Whitney.

  • Anonymous

No Kelly Clarkson comments yet?  I didn’t realize Whitney produced (co) Princess Diaries.  Kelly’s career is tied in a weird way – and then with all the comparisons of her SSB last week ,.the guy on cnn couldn’t remember Kelly’s name but he posted it on his facebook page and said alot people said Whitney’s was better.

  • fuzzywuzzy

    Nigel Lythgoe
What is even more shocking to me regarding the death of #Whitney is that only this Wednesday she responded positively to mentoring on #Idol
    12:45 PM – 12 Feb 12

I do not take Melanie’s “she lives in my voice” as anything more then she is now one of the inspirations  when Melanie sings. However the whole tone of the tweet is somewhat over the top.
Not a fan or a hater of Melanie just think she is overly dramatic most of the time and that can be funny or annoying, funny when she comes out about her accent, not so funny when she acts like her best friend just died.

  • itsalleternal

Compared to Simon Cowell’s comments, Melanie was pretty tame.

  • fuzzywuzzy

I was just talking with someone the other day about how amazing Whitney Houston was and watching YouTube vids. RIP Whitney.

Oops! I see girlygirl saw it too.

    Syesha also tweeted yesterday.

    Syesha Mercado @Syesha
My idol Whitney Houston completed her legendary Journey today on this same day my older sister gave birth to her baby girl to start hers.

R.I.P. To my Idol Whitney Houston. My heart hurts. You are my inspiration. We love you!

  • shell29

I’m going to cut Melanie some slack here.   She’s still young, and judging from the tweet she was obviously emotional upon hearing the news of Whitney’s death.  When you’re emotional what you say (or in this instance, “tweet”) may not always come out in the best way.  I don’t think she intended to make it “all about her” or to be selfish.  It just reads like a rambling, emotional tweet to me.

  • Anonymous

    Melanie’s words were especially heartbreaking…
