Idols played instruments on the tour as far back as Season 3: Jon Peter Lewis played acoustic guitar on a group number and Jasmine Trias accompanied herself on piano for one of her numbers.

Also Season 4: Anwar Robinson played keyboards.

Just a side note to a statement regarding the Idols playing instruments.

During the AI Tour for Season 4 (Winner was Carrie Underwood, if you remember her, lol). Nadia came out with a guitar and pretended to know what she was doing. She didn’t really play, just made it look good.

BUT on a more serious note BO BICE played guitar and was awesome! He truly is a great musician and was great to see live. I hope to see him again on a solo tour. My goal is to meet him.

Wow! What a great recap. I really like how you contrasted the two performances and pointed out who was improving and how. Very thorough and enjoyable read.

They are still having serious mic problems.

Still? What’s the deal? Did they spend so much money on costumes and choreography that they only had enough money left in the budget to hire a barrel of monkeys to do the sound system? Every review I’ve seen has complained about problems with the microphones. Time to bring in an expert to sort out the problems. I know they are changing venues every night, but that is why the do sound checks.
