We’ll be live blogging the American Idol Live Tour as it heads to the Power Balance Pavilion in Sacramento CA. The show begins at 7 PDT/10 EDT.

Lauren Alaina sprained her ankle in Portland Saturday night, but she’s got her foot in a boot, and she’s ready to take the stage. Will she perform all her numbers tonight? Or will adjustments be made?

UPDATE: Like a trooper, Lauren performed all her numbers wearing her bedazzled boot and using a cane. Her fellow Idols helped her up and down the stairs, and at times she was limping, but she hung in there! Brave girl.

Check out the set list HERE.

Stick around to find out peeps!

    Awww…Lauren is such a trooper.

Would this stop be considered James’s home stop? I’m not familiar with Santa Cruz and where it’s at in relation to Sacramento.

  • LadyBeBop

No. :) I think one of the Bay Area stops (probably San Jose) would be James’s hometown concert.

However, I think this would be Jacob’s hometown concert. He grew up in Stockton…I think it’s about an hour away.

  • chearts77

Oh yeah. I just looked on the map and see San Jose is like right next door to James. How many CA stops are there for the tour?

  • LadyBeBop

Five….Sacramento, Oakland, San Jose, Ontario and LA.

  • Ratna12

    Aww Lauren.
I hope there are tweeters who will keep us with updated news on Lauren or the lack of her.

Hopefully Jammasta will memorize all the details of the show and write a recap tomorrow.

  • eyelinerandcigarettes

Woops. I never knew jammasta was a guy. O.o

Anyway, I hope he enjoys the concert! I’m liking his shirt. Hehe.

  • Pam

Jammasta’s there? I can’t wait for his recap! :D Love his outfit! Hee!

What a trooper Lauren is! She really wants to be up on that stage doesn’t she? If she thinks she is able to do this, then I hope she can with the proper adjustments. I hate that Lauren is going to have to wear that boot but I know it’s for her own good. I got to admit that it looks all cute decked out in diamond studs.

  • fuzzywuzzy

Santa Cruz is about 2 1/2 hours drive from Sacramento. San Jose is much closer, only about 45 min away.

  • Buffynut

Jacob Stockton? No, Jacob is from Compton. That would be LA. San Jose is the closest venue to James hometown.

  • chearts77

Oh man, I want that shirt jammasta is wearing!! Can’t wait to read his recap. :)

  • jammasta

MJ, will you still take recaps from the concerts? I’m typing one up for myself :D.

  • Lilzie

    Aww Lauren.
I hope there are tweeters who will keep us with updated news on Lauren or the lack of her.

Seems to be a very tight lid on any changes – Lauren’s momma tweeted about half an hour ago she wasn’t sure if there would be changes lol.

  • SajiNoKami

mj: That’s jammasta1289 and his swag!

XD YES! Like his idols of choice.

  • jammasta

Shirt was expensive but worth it!

  • Pam

Thanks for the updates jammasta! :D Looking at the latest tweet, the venue looks almost filled up.

  • jammasta

Lauren is performing, Naima and Pia helping her down the stairs!

  • chearts77

Pia’s moving? How far did she move?

  • cherelann

From the tweets, I don’t think the acoustics for this concert are going to be the best. If the sound isn’t good I think it really detracts from the enjoyment of a concert…

  • jammasta

Pia moved a whopping half the stage! That’s like 100000000 miles of improvement!

  • chearts77

Pia moved a whopping half the stage! That’s like 100000000 miles of improvement!

Hey, that’s a step in the right direction!! (or did she go left? – ha ha lame joke) I think she’ll get better moving around on stage through this tour.

ETA: Is that McCreeryLove at the concert?

  • songsungblue

Jammasta1289: Yelled “PIA’S TURN” after Stefano lifted his shirt. Someone looked at me disapprovingly. Girl please just watch the concert.

Heh. I love this kid. :)

  • Pam

    jammasta1289:
Did Pia forget the words to her first single? Love the chorus though.

    Whoops! LOL

  • jammasta

    Intermission!

Very entertained, a lot of fun. Bad sound system though, ESPECIALLY on Forget You. Jacob was singing his heart out in the beginning but his mic was off or something. Haley was very quiet.

California King Bed, On the Floor, Smooth, Grenade were the first half highlights for me. I have to say, Pia was probably the worst so far.

Naima and Jacob got NO applause at the beginning. However, Naima REALLY got the crowd going with On The Floor (got a lot of applause for the dancing and got most of the audience to stand) and Jacob got the second most applause when he entered on Animal (after James).

Pia’s single was not good. The end was good, and she hit a really good glory note, but following Naima, the crowd became unenthusiastic until her glory note. Don’t know if she really did forget the words like I said, it could’ve been the sound system. A lot of them have a few moments that sound like they’re mumbling. Haley and James have probably had the clearest voices so far.

  • Grammie Kari

I love to hear everyone’s opinion! Some are more artfully done than others, but it’s good to hear everyone’s reaction. I am still hoping to find a ticket some where, some how that doesn’t cost $200 a piece.

ETA: Oh there you are jammasta! What a shame the sound system is not working properly. Hopefully, they’ll figure out what’s wrong and correct the problem. Your opinion of Pia seems to be par for the course. Too bad she isn’t coming across better. Enjoy the second half – it should be fun!

  • Pam

Naima and Jacob got NO applause at the beginning. However, Naima REALLY got the crowd going with On The Floor (got a lot of applause for the dancing and got most of the audience to stand) and Jacob got the second most applause when he entered on Animal (after James).

That’s really surprising about Naima. If anybody can entertain, it’s certainly Naima. Everyone may not like her style but she can hold your attention and she does have insane talent.

  • Susan

I am still hoping to find a ticket some where, some how that doesn’t cost $200 a piece.

What would be your tour city? There are still tickets available in St. Louis, but upper deck. Blah.

  • jammasta

Honestly, I have a gut feeling some people thought Naima was J. Lo for a moment because J. Lo introduced her, but whatever helped Naima get a crowd going LOL.

Landing a flip into the splits and singing “Dance the night away” may have been one of the most epic moments of the concert.

    Go James. Can’t.Wait.Til.Friday!

  • Pam

    jammasta is too funny!

    jammasta1289:
James gave away his tail and ran to the audience. SECURITY!

    LOL!

James is probably driving security nuts. XD Awesome!

There don’t seem to be many cheap last-minute deals this year. I’ve been checking for the Ontario show. I have great seats, but I was hoping to upgrade to something closer or more cental. I’ve lucked out before, scoring second or third row for face value, sometimes less, if I wait long enough. But some of the floor seats for the Ontario show are over $1000 apiece this year. Uh. No. I paid face value for 6th row (albeit far left), so why would I pay more than a grand for 19th row? (Maybe I should look into selling mine.)

Lauren and James make a surprisingly good combo.

They do. I wish TPTB had let them sing the whole song as a duet. James got shafted on that.

Agreed. All the vids, they sound great. Lauren has a bit of rock in her.

  • jeffreythegleek

jammasta, you go ahead and scream for your man Scotty all you want! I didn’t get to go. :-( Car got smashed and I didn’t have a ride. The arena is a 2 hour bike ride from south Sacramento and it’s just too hot to try it. So while I sad you got to be happy and scream for your man. Doesn’t sound like you were alone either.

  • YeahRight

Any reason why my post was deleted?

  • Ringo

Two impressions I get reading the bloggers tonight. First, it is either a requirement that you be accompanied by a parent or these guys are all 12 years old. Second, I feel like a voyeur spying on two lovers because the the idol love they are emoting is almost too graphic. A wonderful and tawdry read — my heartfelt thanks.

  • Grammie Kari

Yeah Right, it says I am posting too fast. My post isn’t there either.

I would like to see the concert in Detroit, Michigan!! The scalpers are in full force!

Vorona, you have fantastic seats! Now, you understand what I am talking about. Your seats are going for about $500 or more over here. Enjoy the concert and forget about the riches you could make! ;o)

I thought Naima could go far in the competition, and I do see her becoming an International star. Jacob will find success in Christian music and/or Broadway. What a talented group!

That Lauren is a really gutsy gal. She performed so well despite her severe injury and I’ll bet that she was in pain throughout.

I agree. That’s a great song for both James and Lauren, and the full song would be a very enjoyable duet. They sound really good together. I think that Lauren has a lot of potential and versatility, much more than she showed on Idol.

I get that message sometimes, even when it’s been a while since I last posted. I just hit the back button on my browser and then hit “post comment” again and then the post always goes through right away.

Great videos!! Could tell at the last of Anyway You Want It that Lauren was having a hard time hanging in. She must have totally collapsed by the time she got off stage. Wish they could choreograph around those stairs a little more for her. Will say, she’s a tough little cookie! Bravo! This is a very entertaining bunch this year. I find myself liking the ALL!

  • Mike M

Wearing one of those walking boots is exhausting. I wore one for two months. It totally throws off your body’s normal coordination, making every step an effort and placing a lot of stress on your opposite leg.

  • Renee in CA

I hope they change up Laura’s role pronto – no way will she be able to keep that up with the exhausting schedule. Let the girl use a wheelchair if need be on those silly group numbers, and nix the stairs asap.

  • Ringo

Anyone find a good video of the girls doing Tightrope? I’ll gladly pay top dollar for one!! :)

  • Pam
  • EvaneSam

I find it unbelievable that they even let Lauren do all the coreography. The cherry on top was when Scotty started to sing Gone after his duet with Lauren and she went down the back steps to come back 5 seconds later. WTF!!!

  • EvaneSam

Anyone find a good video of the girls doing Tightrope? I’ll gladly pay top dollar for one!!

I’ll chip in :P … I’ve been waiting for a good video quality of that since the first concert. :(

Pretty please someone make a recording of that performance already.

A few comments about the Sacramento show…
*It was great fun having the idols be the backup singer…lots of face time for many of them, especially the girls.
*The last time I went the format was very prescribed–first voteoff sang first up to the winner who was last. A few group numbers along the way. This was very mixed up, with most of the idols appearing at pretty regular intervals in one role or another. Except for Scotty…we didn’t see him until the end. I really liked this format.
*Naima gets the most improved award. She was very polished in everything she did not the stage. Moved well. Looked great. “On the Floor” was definitely a highlight for me.
*I think Lauren also showed quite a bit of improvement. She took more risks in her arrangements. She seemed to be off–probably in pain–the first half but did very well in the second. I thought that James also showed a lot of improvment–or maybe its just that when they get to sing full length songs the they have more time to show off their vocals
*Pia got the no improvement at all award. She doesn’t move and everything she sings sounds the same to me. Boring. I don’t even like her look, and I know many do.
*I loved every moment Cassey was on stage. Santana’s song was a fabulous choice for him. He was clearly having a great time playing with the audience, the band and the other idols. I wonder if they still encourage him to dress like a 70-year-old at a retirement home, or if that is his choice. He can’t help being adorable, though.
*Haley’s “House of the Rising Son” was amazing. She definitely has the full package–gorgeous, lots of variation in her singing, moves very well, very expressive in movement and voice…loved her.
*Seemed to me that crowd favorites were Scotty, James, Cassey, Haley. I would guess that if the audience had one vote each, that would have been the idol order at the Sacramento performance.
*Scotty seems like a nice kid with a good voice but I don’t find his “sexy” moves convincing. However, the very charming teenage girls who sat beside me were moved to tears by his performance.
*I got pretty darn good tickets on Saturday mid morning from Ticketmaster for the show on Monday. $82 each after all the fees. They were on the side, and quite close to the stage. I would happily sit there again.

  • EvaneSam

LOL, during Lauren’s “When I die young” Stefano was totaly checking out Haley’s legs.

  • Ratna12

Wearing one of those walking boots is exhausting. I wore one for two months. It totally throws off your body’s normal coordination, making every step an effort and placing a lot of stress on your opposite leg.

I only saw Born This Way and Flat on The Floor and it was painful to see Lauren like that. Poor girl, not only she is stressing the other leg, but her hip, and back also.

Get her a wheelchair and let her sit there and the other girls can walk around, go up and down the stairs etc, etc. The audience will be lucky !! to be able to hear Lauren sing, who the heck cares about choreo.

  • Pam
  • Pam
  • allstar

Wow, why is Lauren still apart of “Born This Way” and “Gone”? That’s just cruel. And it’s distracting from the actual performances.

They should limit her workload ASAP. Maybe give Haley a non-Idol song to sing like everyone else.

    James’ set

Best video I’ve seen of James running through the crowd.
