    When Pia doesn’t have to be self-conciously tottering around in uber-high-heels and cocktail dresses, she shows tonnes more personality and can really move. I wish that Interscope realized that she’s so beautiful, she doesn’t need the glam trappings. She’s so much more fun as Betty than striving to be Veronica (and I always rooted for Betty).

    I think the same for all the girls, actually, it was an especially strong contrast in the Columbus finale, all the guys in Buckeyes jerseys and having a blast while the girls were in showgirl dresses…

    Some might see the guys as not dressing enough, but I think you can have so much more fun casual at least part of the time…then, again, I’m trying to remember other concerts I’ve been to…

    That was cute with Ray taking pictures. I’ve always thought he’s gotten a bad rap in recent past. He has to deal with a bunch of 20-somethings (sometimes teens) and corral them and a throng of fans trying to get at the Idols. He’s doing his job.

    And I heard Lauren wave a terrible towel tonight. First way to get into a Pittsburgh resident’s heart. lol

    I really enjoyed Pia in the vid too. You could see her beauty and personality all in a nice package while have fun doing it. Her interaction with Scotty there was just priceless. Pia doesn’t need the high heels and glitzy dresses to be beautiful since she is already that way to begin with.

    I totally agree that I’d like to see the girls going with a more casual look – or at least have that option. And I’d like them to wear something on their feet that they can actually walk in!

    I agree, regarding Pia. She is petite and cute and has a playful side. None of which you see in a performance. Am wondering if her handlers are forcing the tan, makeup, jacket tops, higher-than-high heels for some image they want to project. If so, couple that with Pia’s stiffness (and/or squat and swivel) when performing and it makes for quite an unatural state. Maybe she has been performing the same way for a long time and is apprehensive regarding changes along the way. I like the Pia in the football video, barefeet and all! Love her voice and wish, wish, wish she could just relax on stage more.

    I love seeing Pia’s playful side. Her glam side is pretty too. I feel bad that she has been so “picked on” regarding her 9th place finish, but yet she obviously has someone’s attention! Good for her. There’s a real girl there. I wish her the best!

    Remember the wrestling video from during the season? Pia was very playful in that video as well. I am not sure why one would say she ever lacked personality. She has more than enough personality…
    Stage presence is different. I can’t read her mind, but I always thought she was/is too nervous about being technically perfect to let loose on stage.

    You may have just hit the nail on the head there tomk. I agree, and that appears to be making her visibly self-conscience on stage too (the nerves and want of perfection).

    I, too, am perplexed at the image that Pia is portraying. I am trying to understand why, in this day and time, that she is being marketed on her hair and looks and her ability to wear super high heels and dress provocatively. Most of the girls doing well in top 40 have such a different image (especially on stage). Are they really trying to sell Pia as the beauty pageant Idol…and if so, why? This type of image hasn’t been popular for ages.

    I have no doubt that Pia has a wonderful personality. And, when she’s off the stage, she looks like someone I’d hang out with. She needs to learn to bring that personality to the stage and there’d be no stopping her, IMO.

    I’d love to see just one stop where the girls do their numbers in pants and sneakers or flat bottomed shoes. I loved seeing that pic of Lauren wearing pants and a penguins shirt for her duet with Scotty. That’s the way to go. Get casual…loosen up. I’m sure the audience isn’t wearing party gowns and tuxes. I doubt they’ll walk away thinking, “Gosh, those idols are a bunch of bums wearing jeans and sneakers.”
