American Idol season 11 winner Phillip Phillips tied the knot Saturday evening with longtime girlfriend, Hannah Blackwell, the singer’s rep confirmed to People.
“I’m so excited,” said Phillip, “What I love most about her is she’s my best friend and I can tell her anything. I just love her.”
Hannah added: “I feel like when I met Phillip, he was the answer to so many questions that I had. He just makes everything make sense for me.”
Phillip met Hannah at an event for his sister’s charity organization Mission Change nearly seven years ago. Phillip won the American Idol crown in 2012.
According to People, Hannah wore a Hayley Paige wedding gown. Phillip was “dapper” in a Billy Reid tux. The couple exchanged custom vows at the Resora Plantation in Albany, Georgia in front of 250 friends and family.
The newly married couple will continue celebrations Saturday night at a Southern-style reception before flying out on their honeymoon next week.
Phillip and Hannah were engaged over last Christmas holiday. “I’ve been dreaming of this for over 20 years, wrote Hannah on an Instagram after the engagement. “I’ve been dreaming of this guy for just that long. Overwhelmed with happiness.”
