American Idols Live Tour – Sunrise, FL – July 29, 2009

It looks like the woman who did the partial livestream cellcast from last night’s show will be at tonight’s show as well. She wrote the she will try to do a song from most of the idol’s sets and most/all of Adam’s. The link is below, and when it goes live the stream comes on automatically. If anyone is going to the Duluth (ATL) concert this Fri., where is the meet-and-greet by the buses? I’ve never done this kind of thing before, LOL. I’m on the floor in section F6. Anyone know if those are good seats?

I realize Adam may be unavailable, but I’d still love to “greet” any of the idols who choose to come out. They’ve all been pretty impressive, imo. My 9 y.o. daughter is beyond excited and has painted her toes black. We printed up some 8×10 group pics, so poor Sarver isn’t forced to sign Adam-stuff, lol. Wal-mart saved $$–no paying the inflated prices for Idol pics and programs! I have my R.S., though, and haven’t given up hope that Adam is still coming out (no pun intended!). Tampa and I bet tonight’s show prove that FL has no problem with a flamboyant singer. Next up, ATL is going to loooove the Fierce One!

To answer your question: Last year, the stalking was on the side of the arena. If you are facing the arena, just to the right of it. Don’t know if it will be in the same place or not. I’ll be wearing a shirt with TALC on the front in blue and Adam’s eye on the back with FIERCE written under it. Look for me! AND, I’ve got first row seats.

The livestream person has good seats tonight. The sound buffers a lot, but she is doing Lil right now.

Howard Cohen writes for the Miami newspaper. He’s a personal friend of one of my online Jason Castro buddies. We battled with him over Jason last year. She tried everything she could think of to win him over to Jason, but I don’t think he ever said anything nice about him. LOL

Mine is too now – I’m slow figuring things out.

I would like everyone to just do their best and NOT talk about potential tours, albums, etc. It makes me sad in the Lil and Adam videos when she talks about when she is signed, when she will have an album. Adam’s face inscrutable when she says things like that, but I can’t help comparing and feeling bad for Lil. Just don’t talk about it – do everything you can to make it happen, girl, but don’t make us feel bad for you.

But hey. Something should be said for his boldness. Anoop is very ambitious and a bit spoiled. I think Anoop is used to getting what he wants. Some people that were at the concert last night in Tampa said that he got Roses thrown at him last night.

I really don’t find anything wrong with Anoop saying that he hopes to be on tour in the next couple of years. Anoop is a very confident guy, and IMO, there’s nothing wrong with that. You need to have self confidence in order to be successful. A lot of people mistake self confidence for arrogance, and Anoop is clearly not arrogant. And it’s not like he’s saying he is going to be on tour, he’s saying “he hopes”. JMO

Agree with the point that he has been spoiled. I had an Indian roommate in law school, it is a culture that truly spoils their children in some very endearing and nice ways. I think of Anjana when I see Anoop.

Agree with the point that he has been spoiled. I had an Indian roommate in law school, it is a culture that truly spoils their children in some very endearing and nice ways. I think of Anjana when I see Anoop.

It’s sweet how he was spoiled by his parents. You can tell he is the light of their life. But uh, this aintcho mamma’s house, Noopy. This is the real world.

Matt’s getting great reviews from the twitterers again tonight. He’s very consistently pleasing the crowd – I’m happy for him. I like that he’s being very realistic about the future .. seems like he’s hoping for a recording contract, like they all are, but he’s making plans to go forward with or without (ie: his on-line hosting gig, and a Grand Rapids concert to “say thanks” to the people who voted for him). That’s probably what Anoop and all the others should do, also.

Yeah, me too. Once in awhile is fun, but I hope it doesn’t get to the point where people keep trying to outdo the last show. His set is entertaining enough as it was designed, sans accoutrements (and I recall seeing him wear handcuffs hanging from his belt on the show, too, in addition to the flogger, and wondered why it seemed to go completely unnoticed during a time when people were minutely examining everything he did).

I kind of, selfishly, wish that Matt wouldn’t start off his set with Hard to Handle. Makes whatever the heck Anoop just did before him look uber lame. Hard to Handle is amazing. The first time I heard it on the cellcast, I was blown away. I kept rambling how great it was. But the contrast is stark. I wish he would start with You Found Me. That song sucks. I hate the fray.

however, I’ve heard that Matt plans to vacation after tour some. Which is so stupid. I don’t know if he has a contract lined up, but if he does, a vacation is NOT what he needs. He needs to strike while the iron is hot.

Really amateur interview but I didn’t know Michael was of cajun origin. Hate to generalize, but that could explain some of his “papa bear” tweets and general helpfulness. Again, don’t want to generalize, but that is a culture that has endured a LOT of adversity – beginning with the trek from francophone Canada, see “Evangeline”, after expulsion by the British – half of them died on the trek in the heat and marshes of the south – and it is a culture where people really stick together and look out for one another. Again, this is a generalization, but in my experience has been more often true than not.

I think Michael is getting annoyed that people ignore him even when he signs for them and ask about Adam. Can’t blame. People can be rude. Probably misses his family, too. He’s been pretty much discounted as an artist for the most part it seems.

I am not too surprised that there would be boos for Kris in South Florida, if anywhere on the tour. The WASP population probably doubled when the AI tour bus rolled into town.

@kradmour I am originally from New Orleans tho not a cajun but you are so correct about the cajun culture and they are very clannish to say the least they don’t like outsiders/newcomers, etc. Besides becoming a born-again Christian this really explains a lot about Michael.

In response to poster’s comment about other idols having a backup plan, sorry but I have no idea how to re-post someone’s comment and then reply.

But anyway, Anoop has said that if a music career doesn’t work out, he will probably go to law school. It’s just that singing is what makes him happiest Everyone wants to be happy in what they do, so I don’t fault him in pursuing a music career at all. (and really, with a voice like his, he should be singing) I’m not worried about Anoop’s future at all. He is a very well rounded individual, and I don’t think he’s too ambitious. Although if a music career doesn’t work out for him, I would like to see him on TV or in politics someday.

Danny’s voice is still horse. 2 move concert to come before a break? Hope he can take care of his voice.

I think that it’s a strong possibility that he was well received again in general by the audience, like he has been in every city on tour so far. Sounds like a tough crowd tonight-But S.Florida can be a very rude place. It wouldn’t surprise me if none of the idols did a meet and greet. I have a feeling the crowds in N.C. (Anoop), Atlanta (sorry-Duluth!)etc. and much nicer and more receptive. If these tweets are any example of the crowd, I feel sorry for all of the Idols.

Adam screwed up a whole line of WLL in Tacoma! And Kris’ versions of Heartless on the fast section are amusing to me. I can’t say that I keep track of anyone except Kris, Adam and Allison. And Allison gets the lyrics right when I can understand them.

The south really, really loves Adam. I guess that’s why Adam said at one of the concerts, “I love the south.” He was probably surprised too.

The last few times I checked Adam’s file on theBestArts.com, many of his videos have been removed, especially the ones that are available on iTunes. I was bummed because I enjoy reliving the judges’ comments. Are others having the same experience?

Kris sings the Killers’ lyric that was referenced as ‘when everything’s lost, the battle is won’. As far as I know, he has done it that way every time. It is not the first time he has changed a lyric to better suit him. I hope it isn’t illegal, or he is going up river for a long, long stay.

Exactly how I feel :) You can go to any concert and the live performance of a tunemay take on different sound or different wording. If it all comes out good in the end and the performance was enjoyable, it is no skin off the cat!

It’s pretty obvious if you listen to the lyrics. “I got soul but I’m not a soldier” just refers to the fact that Brandon has faith, ie soul and spirituality, but he is not a solider of god. He isn’t a perfect mormon “I need direction to perfection no no no help me out”, his faith wavers “and my affection, well it comes and goes” but he doesn’t want god to forget about him “don’t you put me on the back burner” because of “all these things that he’s done” which is shown in his “time, truth and heart.” It’s a plead with God, kind of like a compromise. He’s not perfect, but he tries.

I am steeling myself for Howard Cohen’s review in the Miami paper. He was not much of a fan of Kris’ during the season and was more than a little upset when Adam didn’t win. But he did tweet that no one was a train wreck tonight, so hopefully he won’t rip on any of the Idols too badly (although he did seem to rip on Danny a lot in his tweets, so we’ll see). He liked Adam, Allison and Matt tonight, so they should get praise in his actual review

I tend to agree with you, I doubt that Kris didn’t “take the time to learn the lyrics”…as seriously as he takes music, I don’t see that being the case. If you are not a fan of Kris and ARE a Killers fan, it’s probably easy to pick his version apart. I know people who think Kris’s version of “Heartless” is sacrilege, LOL.
Then again, I’ve heard people (LZ fans) criticize Adam’s WLL as well. Nitpicking these guys will hopefully cease when they are allowed to sing their own songs.

Lol. Now that’s funny. I don’t hate NoBo, but I don’t love it either. If it were a more ballad friendly era, I think it would have done well. I think that ballads were so overdone for a while, that people are just tired of them.

Both Adam and Kris screw up the lyrics on ocassion, but they are both very good at covering the mistake and moving on.

This is just what Kris does. He makes the song his own, and it has served him well so far.

Well, Brandon has struggled with his Mormon faith. I think soldier is being taken to literally. But Mormon’s are pretty strict. Don’t smoke, don’t drink, be a good family man.. the first two he used to do, and the third thing he’s trying to do. It’s about him trying to balance being a rockstar and a good mormon. He’s being pulled so many ways, but at the end of the day, he’s being the best mormon he can be.

And THAT i think is very relatable to Kris. Kris is a man of faith, but his bible says some things that maybe he doesn’t agree with or doesn’t practice. Kris is a good guy, to the core.. and that’s what matters.

If the rumor about last night is true I wouldn’t be surprised if he no longer does any open m&g again. I haven’t read into all the posts about last night but I was wondering if those that were anti-adam last night were out there during the m&g. It of course depends on whether those showing dislike towards Adam was about hating him like some hate Danny which is harmless or hating him because of him being gay which could be dangerous. I’m not going to say what I was thinking with regards to the latter because when I do it makes my stomach turn. You see how close they come to the fans and there is no way of knowing what one might do when they are face to face with him.

I’m hoping that whatever this ‘thing’ is gets taken care of and he feels safe to come out and meet his fans. I know that there are alot of loving fans who are respectful to him and just want the opportunity to be in his presence. He has also mentioned he loves meeting his fans. It would be a shame for everyone to lose that because of some stupid crazies.

Now with regards to the concert I haven’t been here for either one. I see that I have missed alot. I’m hoping there will be lots and lots of videos so I can catch up. There isn’t one yet. And I agree it was stunning and I have been searching for it. I really don’t think we both can be wrong – it really was special. I just want to see the walk across the stage and that reach into the crowd again.

I don’t think that they will let him do it again – I think they are keeping him from getting to close to the audience now.

I just came back from the concert & let me tell you, Adam was the true STAR!! And he definitely got more applause than Kris & his tour merchandise was sold out by the end of the night. I’ll post a review tomorrow.

Q3, I lived in South Florida for years. It has a huge gay population and an huge Jewish population, so it is natural Adam territory. It also has a huge Hispanic population. That is all I meant.

I know the area very well, and I knew Howard Cohen would not be kind to Kris. He was on the war wagon when Adam lost the crown.

That’s an interesting point of view, it’s my first year following AI and I found that a lot of the ‘gay’ columnists liked Kris very much. Still, one never knows…

I’m really bummed that the idols are scared or too tired to come out to sign autographs. My daughters want me to hang out after the concert on 8/8, but I
feel like it will be futile. They begged me last year for the Davids and I said “no way”. I would actually do it this year, because we are going to get a hotel room, but I don’t want them to get bummed out if we don’t see them. Because of this blog and others, I’ve had my idol fill. I’m okay with it. But my kids aren’t. Oh well.

However, I can totally understand why the idols might be burned out by all the fan love and the crazy schedule.

If I were to guess, I would say this isn’t “Danny hate or Gay Hate” at all. I tend to think it’s more a psycho obsession type thing…like the lady that broke into Letterman’s house, or some fan that felt some imaginary slight from Adam. Kind of like what sets these kooks off that try to do things to celebrities. ( like that kid who shot Rebecca Schaeffer several years ago)

Looking at the comments on the fansites, AO.com, IDK and ONTD_AI, it really looks like fans are really disappointed but not angry at Adam; that are mad at whoever caused this and want him to be safe.

Seems Matt, Danny,Michael and for short periods kris comes out at the informal meet and greets . In memphis at the barricades michael was very generous to the fans and is very nice. The fans started chanting Adam while he was out and i think his feeling were hurt according to some tweets he sent. it would have been nice for them to make an announcement that Adam would not be coming out

Sherena, I don’t think Adam is fond of the meet and greets. I think perhaps his presence guarantees bedlam and chaos, and it may simply be due to security issues (crowd control)that he no longer does the bus stroll thing. After AI ended, but before the tour kicked up, I know that many sent pics for him to sign and return, and he did. (Lots of testimonials on his web site). If you must have the autograph of an idol, this is the time to do it.
Probably ALL the idols have fans that are a bit “off” and “scary” in the Stephen King Misery sense. LOL. I had a feeling tonight that perhaps none of the idols would be available-security people monitor twitter for weirdos, and just judging by the twitters online tonight on this blog I think the venue was a bit dicey.

That will NEVER happen! Can you imagine? Who would show up at the concert? I recall the Dixie Chicks received a serious death threat in 2003 at their concert in Dallas. They took all kinds of precautions, but in NO WAY did they alert the audience that there was a potential problem.

Honestly, informing the crowd outside that there is a potential threat would only create chaos and none of the other idols would be able to visit with fans, etc. It would be a nightmare.

As much as we hate it, we’re not going to get an *update* on any type of dangerous situation. If they say anything, it will simply be “Adam is no longer coming out after the show.”

It’s not really a big deal, the good thing about the net is that the rumor mill can work both ways. Look what happened yesterday, one stalker tweet and Adam is #1 trending topic, and thousands across the globe, myself included, are hyperventilating about his safety.

Well comparing with other shows this year I would say very unusual. Aside from a couple of shows where one or two were absent all 10 have been out after the show even if its just a quick run by. And while I am sure fans were happy that those 3 came out they will most likely focus their energy on who didn’t come out. I remember in Sacramento Adam was the only one who didn’t hang out with the crowd. While I would have loved to have met Adam I had a blast meeting the others. There were of course a few people who focused on the fact that Adam was absent. I guess thats just how some people are. Its a fact of life.

It all just makes me sad.

It makes me sad as well. Adam had to know it would be difficult and that there is a price for celebrity but I would bet good money he never expected it to be like this.

I know they probably don’t want to alarm the fans or send them into a frenzy, but hopefully somebody tells them that no information is worse than the truth and all kinds of awful things go through some of our minds.

That’s how I feel, Clearone. Does anyone really believe Adam would just say, “Oh, screw the fans! I need my down time?” I mean, seriously? He’s worked too hard for this. I don’t believe Adam’s fan interaction or lack thereof at the concerts has been his decision at all. And if you pay attention to the videos where he is out there signing autographs after the concert, he is very, very restricted. There is no interaction whatsoever. He’s rushed along by his handler with no opportunity for candid photos or conversation. Quite a change from past seasons. Something is up.

It’s not really a big deal, the good thing about the net is that the rumor mill can work both ways. Look what happened yesterday, one stalker tweet and Adam is #1 trending topic, and thousands across the globe, myself included, are hyperventilating about his safety.

It’s fine I think, for now at least. The other idols not coming out tonight also helps.

A lot of Adam fans already knew that he wasn’t going to come out tonight. But what they didn’t expect was that they would run out of Adam merchandise during intermission. Anyone who know South Florida know that the #2 tourist attraction in Florida is no Universal Studios, Miami Beach or Bush Gardens — it is the mall in Sunrise Florida. I can’t imagine having all those South Florida shoppers and nothing to sell them. All I can say is “oy vey iz mir” a Yiddish expression that roughly means “Oh, woe is me”

Since I can’t say I know for a fact since I’m not part of the idol tour LOL I can say that in Sacramento when they were boarding the buses the band got on a different bus than the idols so my guess would be they have their own bus.

1 – you get some free time on your own and get to relax rather than be mobbed by over-zealous fans during the meet and greet

2 – you get more love from your fans who will be over-protective of you and may want to support you even more

3 – and most importantly, you’re already a “superstar” if you have your own stalker

I am so happy with this review. The first time I remember hearing Matt was when he was singing and playing Georgia On My Mind during Hollywood rounds and the first thing I thought was who in the hell is this guy and where did he come from. The next thing that popped in my mind was my god he is the new pianoman. He reminded me so much of Billy. Both his soulful vocals and the way he moved on the piano. I never once saw any JT comparisons except for the curly hair. This review is amazing for Matt. To be compared to a legend like Billy is the ultimate compliment not to mention Billy is extremely talented. Good for Matt!

As for the stalker everyone knows I am not a fan of Adam but I hope he stays safe as well as the other idols because who knows what an unbalanced person will do.

Maybe the rest of the idols stayed in to give Adam some emotional support. Maybe they decided among themselves that Kris, Danny and Matt would go out. All three of them are popular with the ladies and it seems like the best way to handle a bad situation. From what we can see from the tweets, Allison was having fun so I don’t think it was a bad vibe after the concert.

Perhaps the crazed fan was the one booing Kris. I’m surprised Allison bothered to respond to the person who booed or even was able to hear it. I think it’s all very odd. CindyM I simply mean that this goes along with Idol. It happens every year and you have to take the bad with the good. DC had the same problem and everybody from Perez Hilton to EW razed him for asking his fans to respect his privacy (meaning staying away from his tour bus-and this was after AI). After all this was DC and his band’s home away from home but to hear the media tell it, he had it coming as this is what goes if you are a celebrity. No one deserves to have a “stalker” if that is the case, but if you are going to be in the lime-light, it is to be expected. There are a lot of crazy “fans” out there. Go back and look at some of the blogs during DC’s stalker time and see what was said about him. This is just the start for AL. I don’t think Adam is fond of the meet and greets.

Honestly, I don’t think that he is either. Once he said that he didnt want to come out in the afternoon because it was hot and he was tired, I pretty much knew it wasn’t his thing. I don’t think everyone is comfortable in that scene. I don’t think Anoop or any of the girls come out regularly in the afternoon. And honestly, the afternoon signing is MUCH calmer and more controlled than the after concert one.

Adam has stated over and over how much he loves to meet the fans. He is protecting his voice by not coming out in the hot sun right before a concert, many professional singers do not even speak the entire day of a concert. This is something that Danny needs to start doing to protect his voice.

I agree with you Sunn. I just don’t understand the mentality of some fans. I went to the concert in Glendale, traveled 6 1/2 hours to get there mainly to see Adam. Left there completely over the moon because he gave me a GREAT SHOW! Didn’t get an autograph, picture, etc. I got a great performance and great music and a fun night of entertainment. That’s what the concerts are supposed to be about. Personally, I’d rather Adam not do the bus thing if there’s any danger to him. Just watching some of the videos at the busses, it doesn’t seem very controlled and the amount of screaming in their faces is ridiculous.

Really? I was inside around 12:30 (it was being called a “meet and greet” by security) and their buses hadn’t yet arrived. I waited (and waited) and the three aforementioned guys finally came out around 2:30-3, and then we were told they had to finish eating lunch and then rehearse, so we all left (there were about 40 of us inside). There was no mention of another meet and greet taking place after that, so I just assumed that was it. What time was this “official” one? Did you need an actual pass?

I went onto the Channel 7 website but couldn’t find the story. The info came from a tweet. The details are a bit sketchy. If the woman is part of an anti-adam cult then she isn’t a fan. Or is she the stalker and she was there as well as the anti-adam group? I would wait until we get a mainstream news source to be confident that we have the correct details.

I attended the concert tonight and while all in all it was fun I was a bit disappointed that only 3 of the idols came out for the meet and greet…first Scott came out and ran by the crowds, (naturally he can’t sign autographs so he was quick to leave…) then Kris came out and then Matt and Danny. That was it. I’m not sure what’s going on but something must be up I dont think its the idols intentions to let down the fans (my little sister was really disappointed she couldn’t get Adam’s autograph)…idk maybe they were scared…from what I could tell things were a bit more chaotic here tonight than what I’ve read from other concert reviews…there were some isolated boos when Allison mentioned Kris but not very many, though I guess she heard them and said something like “c’mon guys no booing tonight”…also during Adam’s set people started leaving their seats and walking towards the front (I had to go chase after my little sister because she couldn’t see from her seat and there was a fastidious security guard behind us who wouldn’t let her stand on her chair) so yeah maybe Adam saw that people were walking around and got scared or something…. even though it was no big deal
His singing was spectacular (Whole Lotta Love OMFG…oh and he said “baby” tonight) needless to say and his dancing was great too…one thing I noticed though was all of them except Kris and Matt sounded like they could use some vocal rest…their voices sounded a bit tired and raspy..even Anoop and especially Allison…the slow ride with Adam was great though and I enjoyed her set because I’m a fan but she sounded like she was struggling in “cry baby” and at one point her voice soort of went away trying to hit some of the higher notes…its really crazy how they do concerts back to back…
the crowd was very Adam-centric though there were also a lot of Danny and Kris fans…I must say I was surrprised with Kris’s rendition of heartless, its not the one he did on the show with just the guitar, they added some percussion and I must say I prefer the version he did on the show with just the guitar and his voice…
everyone seemed excited and the crowd cheered a lot…also I beg to differ from those that have been saying that Danny gives a preachy speech…all the idols say something whether its thanking the fans or making a joke like scott and all he did was encourage ppl to follow their dreams and not let themselves be defined by their faults or mistakes and then he dedicated the last song to the audience…I personally enjoyed his set and thought even his dancing was good…and his voice sounded good as well…he also took his time signing autographs and even giving ppl hugs…
it was over too quickly really…I was just disappointed because I waited outside for a while and since there was such a large clump of ppl it was very hot…I also dont think that when Adam does his own tour he’s gonna do meet and greets like they do now on AI, its too many ppl but who knows maybe he will..I just hope this stalker ordeal is not anything too serious…I dont think it is…I saw Allison by the buses as I was leaving and she was chasing some guy and throwing water at him…maybe they were just tired…oh well it was still a good concert LOL

Yeah, it’s not just AI fans and also it doesn’t mean someone is famous as someone said above. Didn’t Diana DiGarmo have big issues with a stalker? And for some reason I’m thinking that Jessica Sierra had one too, or maybe I’m just confusing this with all of her drug issues. Having a stalker just means that some exceptionally weird person began obessing on you….and it happens to lots of non famous folks, too. But yeah, if it’s true, it’s scary.

Ok, tonight I went to the American Idol concert, it was a blast! Afterwards I went to the place where the Idols come out and sign autographs. First Scott came out but didnt sign autographs. Then Kris came out. Then Matt came out. And Danny then came out. I got all 3 autographs. So then I was waiting and waiting for Adam. His bodyguard came out and told everyone that no one else was going to come out. I asked why Adam wasn’t coming out. He told me a little but one of the other staff for the place were they were performing told me the rest. Well, there was a stalker as you know and she was in the front row. Then she came backstage and she was saying mean things to Adam and fighting with him and he was fighting with her. Then Adam called security and escorted her out when they were practically carrying her they found a wepon on her. (He did not mention what kind) How she got the wepon inside the concert, I do not know. But, now every night right after the finale he goes straight to the car and drives him to the hotel or the tour bus if they are driving somewhere. The next stop is in Atlanta which is really really close to Tampa where this happened so I think that he is not going to sign autographs.

Why wasn’t she arrested? If she threatened him and was carrying a weapon she should have been arrested. There would then have been a police report and then a news story. I can’t find the news story on-line. This arrest report would have been available this morning. Also, I know there were probably fans who called the city desk asking about the stalker story. I would imagine that story would be assigned to a reporter to check into.

NOT saying that didn’t happen but in the internet world of today.The arrest reports would of been out.Until i read a something official i wont belief it.

If that story is true, why wasn’t the woman arrested for carrying a concealed weapon? I can’t imagine that Adam’s bodyguard would tell a fan anything in that much detail.

I don’t think this is one situation that we can make a Kradam moment. I would be shocked, shocked if it was the same person. It sounds to me that security was tight. If she was backstage last night, AI security would know what she looks like and would have her removed. The person booing was probably just some heckler..

Perhaps the crazed fan was the one booing Kris. I’m surprised Allison bothered to respond to the person who booed or even was able to hear it. I think it’s all very odd. Of course, this is based on twitter/tweeted messages. Although something seems to be up’ ¦ OTT Adam Love could lead to OTT Kris Hate ‘” a very scary thing. Just sayin’ in general.

Well, there was a stalker as you know and she was in the front row.

This is just my guess, but it’s possible that this person could have been the one booing since Allison would not be able to hear or really see anything from far away. (ETA: Wait, I take my theory back if the report was from last night)

But.. I’m also kinda weary about this report also because why would they let a known stalker go backstage?

Oh, and I’m also noticing that most of the idols are tweeting that they look forward to going to Atlanta, but no one (other than Scott) thanks Florida.. Wonder why that could be..haha

The Adam stalker story is from Tampa. The few booing guys during Allison’s set were booing Kris in Sunrise. Two different concerts.

His nails are certainly messed up though, and he is said to mess with them when he is anxious or stressed.

Why wasn’t she arrested? If she threatened him and was carrying a weapon she should have been arrested.

Private security can’t arrent anyone – they can only detain people under certain conditions and call the police.

This whole thing is very scary — but I’m not putting too much stock in the twitter account of this person supposedly confronting Adam backstage. I’m waiting for some more credible proof.

Hopefully the police have found and arrested this person so she won’t be able to follow the tour now that it has left the state of Florida.

Clearly something happened in Tampa. And now Adam is stuck doing pre-concert press and M&G which he doesn’t want to do. And then he has to sing all those high notes without proper vocal rest.

And, CindyM, I don’t think you are projecting – Adam doesn’t look relaxed in that Sunrise M&G photo.

If that story is true and she went backstage then it would have been during the afterparty meet & greet right? I haven’t been to one but I have heard from those who have been there that the way it works is you get in line to go backstage. There would have been a crowd. It seems strange that not one person from that meet & greet or only one person I guess is commenting on it. I think people would have flocked to twitter or Adam’s site or Kris’ site or somewhere seeing that there are numerous AI sites out there. Just seems fishy to me although I suppose it could be true.

And see I said that the story would morph. I will check tomorrow to see what the new story is.

I’m hoping if true that this will be an isolated incident and Adam as well as the others will feel comfortable coming out to meet the fans at future shows. And also I wonder if next year they will bypass Florida during the concert tour.

Why is there always something going on at each of these concerts that force me to stay up. I want answers damn it!!!!

Yes, that is correct, but why wouldn’t they call police? Also, the police should be nearby. As with all large events like this you would have police assigned to the area. I worked as a newspaper reporter for years and I had the police beat. Something happened here, but we still don’t know for sure what. People get arrested at concerts all of the time. Why not this one?

The guard held it while I went through the detector and then just handed it to me. Opened the flap and looked and I had a pretty deep purse. Didn’t seem like they really cared. I mean, really, security was a joke.

Oh…and added to say, I had a camera bag and a binocular bag and as I handed the bags to the guard I said…that’s a camera and binoculars. She said okay and then just handed them to me along with my purse after I’d gone through the detector. Didn’t open the camera case OR binocular case. Of course, my camera did me no good. One should always have fresh camera batteries on hand. Mine died after a picture of Megan for my cousin. Lesson for future AL solo tour.

I know this long period of uncertainty will further fuel rumors. 19E is the one calling the shots on this matter and Adam will be under their guidance. I think 19E has enough experience to handle this matter properly,whatever this is.
The only clear thing is that whatever is going on, it has not affected the concert performance of Adam and the others. They displayed their best and continued to be received with wild applause.

This is true professionalism and we should all be glad that the neophytes , as they still are, all stayed true to form.

I earnestly wish they all remain safe, and I hope we all can just by sheer force of will , eradicate all these anti-Adam kind of sentiment, even if just rumor.

Something has been up since Memphis. dsp a poster on this blog was at the hotel when the Idols were leaving for Graceland and all the Idols were milling about except for Adam who was escorted on the bus by security. Another report had Matt(?) getting Adam hustled back onto the bus at Graceland after being “mobbed.”

Several stories were circulated in Tampa that he was driven away right after the concert, he was still inside, he was already on the bus. These seem like diversion tactics by security to confuse a person/people. This is something that security would do. Now tonight only 3 Idols come out and the tweeting is now mostly generic after being so specific up until yesterday.

So, yeah something is up IMO and gut feelings.

Remember that guy from a few shows ago who happened to wander into the dressing room? I think he said he even ate some food. It seems like security isn’t always watching every corner.

The Staples Center was a different story. We had our bags checked and went through metal detectors. (the walk through ones like the airport) But this is Los Angeles so it is to be expected.

Although the stalker is targeting Adam, I have to wonder how much this affecting the others as well. They’ve got to be at least a little freaked out about all this — not to mention worried for their friend Adam. The whole thing is very sad — Adam and the rest should be having the time of their lives right now, not having to deal with possibly dangerous “fans”

They do have metal detectors. The concert I attended the guy had the handheld one. He waved it in front of me and then didn’t even check my husband. Also, I guess that they didn’t want any more whip action during the concert because they stopped people from throwing things on the stage. And people brought things to throw on stage tonight.

The above story if true is really strange…how could this woman had been following him all morning? does that mean on the road? at his hotel? at the arena? if she was armed and dangerous, why was she not stopped and searched by law enforcement? Cops in Florida would not have ignored her, more than likely she would have been arrested on the spot and identified.

I read in another comment that she was backstage having a verbal argument with Adam, a struggle? and taken away by security? then why is there no official report in the news or on the web? wouldn’t her name and mug shot be public by now?

and if she does exist and was arrested, wouldn’t she still be in prison? say she was released…everyone would know who she is and perhaps being watched…is one crazy stalker woman going to ruin the rest of this tour? or the rest of Adams life?

At the Tampa show the buses were parked in a closed off area…walls and a small guarded entrance…it would have been impossible to be ” lurking around the buses ” . The entrance with the guard was at least 100 feet from the buses, and he was not letting anyone pass.

None of this makes any sense yet….where are the facts?

If I recall correctly, the last after party that Adam attended was in Memphis. The lady who took the pic of Adam with the shirtless guys was asked how that pic came about and the only response that I read was, ‘Adam said, ‘I’m a lover not a fighter.”  I thought that was a strange quote at the time.

Perhaps, this argument with the stalker lady took place that night. If the reports of the folks in the front row with anti-Adam shirts were correct last night, then this stalker person could have followed him to Florida or at least it could have been the same hate group that she was affiliated with.

The reports state that a weapon was found as they were carrying her out’ ¦it could have been a letter opener or a knife’ ¦not necessarily a gun. I would doubt that the police could arrest her for that since she didn’t use it to threaten.

We, here, don’t know the play-by-play. All we know what the music director tweeted after the Tampa show, He said that Adam is going through a lot — that indicates something happened. Also security is watching Adam very closely and not allowing him to do signing. That would indicate something is going on. If Adam was just being a diva or sick, he wouldn’t be heavily guarded.

Well I’m off to bed. If it turns out to be true and there is some valid information on this I’m sure mj will post the info so I will check back tomorrow. The only thing I worry about now is I’ll come back to this thread and there will be 10 pages added. Hopefully there will be some videos. I’m thinking this will be the concert with the least amount of video though.

It depends what the weapon laws are in that state. They could have arrested her for being a public nuisance, disturbing the peace, assault, etc. Was she drunk? The weapon isn’t even that crucial to an arrest. It doesn’t mean, however, she would be charged with anything. Also, at this point, Adam could get a restraining order against her. There would be a court filing on that. I”m not sure what court as he is traveling state to state. Perhaps one of our attorney posters would know? I would suspect if the stalker is a resident of Florida it would be there? And if so, who wants to hustle it down to the courthouse to find out.

I don’t think it had anything to do with those guys, because I think they were friends of Kris’s brother. There were pictures on ONTD of the same guys at lunch with Daniel Allen the afternoon of the show. I don’t think anyone did after Memphis bus signings because they caught a flight right after. It’s just weird that we heard all about what the other idols did with their free day in Tampa except Adam. The last they spoke of him was the late night swim on the night they arrived. We heard the others went jet-skiing the next day and there were pictures of Kris at the beach. Nothing about Adam at all. So maybe something happened at the hotel that morning…who knows.

Wow Q3, you’re a pretty good detective! hehe.. So my guess *might* be correct, I think they’re just trying to get a rise out of the idols because if it is the same guys, I wouldn’t think that it’s a coincidence that they start kissing during Gokey’s set.

There were no protesters in Memphis. The crowd except for one drunk/drugged guy who made the rude South comment was great to Adam. Adam left Memphis with all the other Idols and went to the Memphis Airport on the bus.

Things changed in Tampa. There was a small group of protestors. That’s were the reports of some people with Hate T-shirts in the front row and security searching for the blond stalker started. And Tampa is the first time Adam didn’t go the the AP and was escorted out of the arena right after the concert.

Tonight Adam also did not attend the AP.

And a lot of other things changes. Michael is hardly tweeting. Only Kris, Danny and Matt came out for the signing.

No his tweet was this ” na, he’s cool… he’s got to deal with SO much stuff-maybe he just wanted to chill. no idea tho…” and ” I spoke with him after the show and he seemed cool…no idea?”

That is how the rumor mill gets started.

There was no public signing scheduled for Memphis and the AP was very smal and short because they had to get to the Airport and fly to Florida.

fyi, those shirtless guys are Kris’ brother’s friends. They are cheerleaders with his brother. I’m not sure if that was Memphis or Little Rock. It was posted in the Memphis thread, tho.

It’s pretty clear that there is the LA girl electronic stalker/hacker plus something else that seems to have started in Tampa.

Based on the security changes, the Tampa-Sunrise story appears to be more than just a lone person.

All the other stuff is rumors – Anti-Adam group, hate T-shirts, blond woman with a weapon, and all.

Has anyone tweeted the other idols to request Adam to do a bubble tweet ASAP since his fans are getting worried (some disappointed). Tomorrow will be the best time for him to do it since it’s their rest day. These theories about him not coming out for 2 shows in a row are stressing me now.

I’m sending Adam happy thoughts and that’s all that matters. :D

i don’t think there was an “anti-adam” group at tampa but there were some people holding signs about God and handing out things. my guess is they don’t approve of adam though. as a christian i’m not sure that holding up these kinds of signs is the best way to spread the gospel. it makes people who are even christians just feel uncomfortable. don’t they realize there are already a lot of people who believe in God going to these concerts? They should just let us go to the concert.

I can’t sleep tonight so I am catching up on this thread and now it has me really worried for Adam. I feel so sorry for him. Even if it’s just those protestors that are causing the problems, that’s bad enough. How can anyone treat Adam this way? He’s such a wonderful person. My heart is breaking for him and tears are in my eyes.

as a Christian I feel this way too. This stuff really bothers me. As I’ve said before, that is no way for Christians to behave if it is against Adam. I also said before that I didn’t think there would be any problems in the south. If all this is true it’s very disappointing.

I can’t sleep tonight so I am catching up on this thread and now it has me really worried for Adam.

I watched the videos from tonight, Adam looks and sounds fantastic, better than ever in fact, and somehow that made me feel better.

I don’t think we should worry too much about this, what good does it do us after all, we can’t do anything about it. And it will most likely turn out to be much ado about nothing.
I have to trust in that the people around the idols know what they’re doing. I believe in destiny, and that in life, what will be will be. The best I can do, is think positively.

Well I never believed anything about Adam getting physically assaulted. Or that there was some woman with a weapon, she would have been escorted out and arrested.

But who knows if there was some stalker stuff besides that? It does happen and it seems that Adam’s accounts were hacked by a stalker. There might just have been some escalated stuff in FL, so they were more cautious with him. Which makes sense and was the right thing to do. Shame about it, and scary of course.

It will be interesting to see if things go back to normal in Atlanta with the after party stuff and signings. I don’t think Adam or any of the idols for that matter, has to do the signings at all, of course, but he seems okay with it typically. Before FL he had only missed one time before, though Dallas (I think) got cut short. So if this was just some local thing in FL, heighted security/precautions, my guess is he’ll go back to after show signings.

I thought this happened in Tampa. The booing was tonite. You can easily get into these places concealing a weapon. All they do is look through women’s bags. She could have hidden a weapon in her underwear. I’m sure they don’t have metal detectors.

I didn’t see anything in Tampa, but there are several entrances, and I could have missed something.

I was handed a piece of blue construction paper with a presumably religious message, which I threw in the trash. There were no signs and the person who was handing out the paper, didn’t even say anything. I took the paper, thinking it might be some directions or instructions I might need, but threw it out, when I saw it was’t.

To answer your question: Last year, the stalking was on the side of the arena. If you are facing the arena, just to the right of it. Don’t know if it will be in the same place or not. I’ll be wearing a shirt with TALC on the front in blue and Adam’s eye on the back with FIERCE written under it. Look for me! AND, I’ve got first row seats.

He has told me that security is so tight at these venues there was no way possible for someone to get backstage that didn’t have the right credentials. He also told me that police are ALWAYS onsite and that they do not hesitate to call them. They can DETAIN someone, but cannot arrest them. They have specific procedures for dealing with unruly people and if the police become involved, there is ALWAYS a police report. This makes me think that this is just a twitter rumor trying to get something started. Or is it just a plublicity stunt? Who knows, but if this “stalker” got anywhere near these kids, they need a new security company.

Just a little FYI — many true Southerners do not consider FL “the south”.
We were at Tampa, and saw some folks out front with signs about turning to God, and they were handing out leaflets, but nothing anti-anybody.

It’s just weird that we heard all about what the other idols did with their free day in Tampa except Adam.

Well I’ll take these with a grain of salt. None of the Idols are saying anything to downplay the rumours yet they have to know how concerned the fans are about Adam and this situation…..or even Adam himself has ways of getting the word out there …… but it’s left to a backup singer? Nope, not buying it. It’s nice of them to try and ease minds but I don’t buy this one any more than I do the story with the gun.

i don’t think there was an ‘anti-adam’  group at tampa but there were some people holding signs about God and handing out things.

Were they outside? Because those people are ALWAYS there. For every event. Even Disney on Ice. They just go wherever they can find the largest group of people to spread their “message”. And, about once a month, you can easily find about 20,000 people at the forum.

So, if it’s the group I think it is, handing out their little religious cards, that has nothing to do with Adam. That’s just what they do.

People in the upper rows are probably worrying about whether he’s going to back up into that hole, when they should just be enjoying the performance. It steals focus. The staging was originally for NB, where he stood still and it wasn’t a problem. Not that I’m advocating a return to NB!

Since he never rehearsed the Killers song before the tour, he did need time to get comfortable with it in his set, and he seems like he’s rocking it more now. I love that song and how he performs it, btw.

The gun story is complete bullshit. If someone were caught backstage with a gun, there would be a police report. And, there isn’t one. At every event, the place is crawling with cops. It would take security all of 2 seconds to get a police officer to come if there were any trouble.

Also, if Adam “recognized” this stalker, then odds are, she’s not from here and has been at several spots on the tour, following him. So, she would have carried a gun across state lines. Trust me, that would be news, and we would have heard about it.

I’m not saying he doesn’t have a stalker. Lots of people get them, so it’s not out of the realm of possibility. But, she didn’t get close to him with any kind of weapon, or trust me, we’d know about it.

As far as the hate t-shirt rumor? I’m skeptical. I had a friend who was at the Tampa show in the 2nd row. I asked her if she saw anyone like this in the front row, and she was pretty much like “what the hell are you talking about?”

I am not sure of anything, but I am completely confident of one thing — this is not a publicity stunt. If they wanted an Adam or just an Idol publicity stunt they would have gotten a bunch of screaming girls out at Graceland and had them cutely storm the buses. They would not spawn a bunch of stalker and hate group rumors.

If it was a stunt wouldn’t the stunt be directed toward Kris, the winner of the show and headliner. Adam has enough controversy sprouting up around him without manufacturing some.

It is one long, tiring bus ride from Ft. Lauderdale to Atlanta. I can’t believe they couldn’t spare the money to fly the guys up there. Maybe they need to save that money to pay Simon that $45 million per year.

Again quite possibly the most compelling reason why Kris picked the Killer song for his tour set. I don’t think the choice was random at all. This kid has substance, which I admit colors my view of him tremendously. To paraphrase Scott, “the more I know of him, the more I want to know.”

I dunno about this. If he had security issues going on I doubt he’d be doing this and if he had taken out 10 fans, they would have been blabbing it all over the place. I must say that twitter is going to be my complete undoing. I read them and wonder how people can type the outlandish stuff they do with a straight face. To me, its all about seeing how much response they can get and if they can rile up the masses. I am sure they have a great time checking all the message boards when they get home to see if their “tweet” has made the rounds and how much controversy they have stirred up…ego trips gone amuck, IMHO.

I sincerely hope that eventually ALL OF THE IDOLS will get the clue that these bus signings are not the way to influence potential fans. The over-invested that hang out at these things are not always “true” fans that will buy music in the long run. To me they just seem to be those that need some individual stroking to keep their fandom alive. Personally, a waste of valuable time for everyone concerned.

If I was a singer whose livelihood depended on my voice and I was having to sing basically every night for 50 some odd shows I would be resting my voice as much as possible. And, some of the Idols are really expanding a tremendous amount of energy on that stage (others not so much) and its tough to recover from that quickly. Also, the hot humid weather on the east coast is pretty hard to take for people not used to it. It’s debilitating and turns you into a sleepy zombie in no time.

I’m glad I can enjoy these concerts vicariously…all of the side show stuff can take its toll though.

YAY! Its great to wake up to videos. I couldn’t help but giggle at that guy in the front row during the Bowie Medley. When Adam sings ‘The freakiest show’ and does his oh so yummy moves that guy starts jumping up and down. Its cute watching grown men and women reduced to silly teenagers whenever Adam performs.

Adam is improving those dance moves with every show. I love how he is changing it up. They are becoming even sexier which I didn’t think was possible. Can’t wait to see future shows.

I think we went through much of this last night. The Channel 7 story doesn’t seem to exist as far as we know. Maybe it will show up in other news outlets today, but so far, nothing. Also, many people went onto the Channel 7 website after that tweet and it wasn’t on there.

At times they turn their head towards each other at which time you can tell they are guys. Its dark but not too dark to notice. You can even tell from the back of their heads that they are guys. It does seem that most if not the entire front row were guys. And it looks like Adam blew kisses at one or more of them at the end of DSB.

I’m not ready to buy into the “stalker” reports. However, I do think Adam poses an unusual security issue Idol hasn’t had to deal with to date. I’ve watched the vids of fans interacting with the Idols at the barricades for 3 seasons, now, and I’ve never seen anything like the way the crowd goes nuts for Adam. So far, TPTB way of dealing with it has been to rush him through the line, allowing no pictures, no physical contact. At one venue, he was taken inside early because the crowd was getting rowdy. 19′s security has a responsibility to keep the Idols safe. But, they also have a responsibility to keep the fans safe. Besides obviously not wanting a fan to get injured, just imagine the law suit 19, Fremantle, American Idol, and the venue and possible the Idol would have thrown at them. So, I think they’re being extra cautious with Adam.

I was at the Tampa show waiting at the entrance to the back parking lot where the buses were parked…there is only one way in,cement walls and a thin entrance with a couple of security guards…they would not let anyone enter…the buses were at least 100 feet back from this only entrance….perhaps your photo was taken with telephoto lens and it only appears that the person who took the photo was standing near the buses. I can supply a photo I took if you don’t believe me,,,you can see the guards, people waiting at the barricade and the buses way way in the background. Only concert personnel and some of the Idols could be seen by the buses. I could see Megan so I yelled at the top of my lungs ” Megan Joy ” a few times and she actually walked over! and signed some stuff and took some photos.

I agree, Juan, cuz I was there too. I waited in the back after the show with about 30 people and the buses were about 75 yards away and they were guarded.

I’d like to hear peoples thoughts on an additional spin on the whole “Adam not coming out to meet and greet at the buses’ thing…

Has anyone, in any thread, suggested that 19Entertainment may be allowing a scare by a stalker to justify the decision to not have Adam sign outside so people stop leaving the concert during the winners set (or anytime before the show is over)?

There could be a schmiggin of truth to support this when groups of people (hundreds) leave the concert during the ‘Winners set’ it just embarrassing to Kris.

And whether Adam is in danger or not (God let’s hope NOT) they may be stretching this out to start a new pattern of audience behavior.

Thoughts anyone?

I love Adam and Kradam and think Adam would do anything the management asked to avoid any slight against his new best friend.

What a bonus. Thanks. I’ve already watched about six times – don’t ask me why.

I do think Adam poses an unusual security issue Idol hasn’t had to deal with to date. I’ve watched the vids of fans interacting with the Idols at the barricades for 3 seasons, now, and I’ve never seen anything like the way the crowd goes nuts for Adam. So far, TPTB way of dealing with it has been to rush him through the line, allowing no pictures, no physical contact. At one venue, he was taken inside early because the crowd was getting rowdy. 19′s security has a responsibility to keep the Idols safe. But, they also have a responsibility to keep the fans safe. Besides obviously not wanting a fan to get injured, just imagine the law suit 19, Fremantle, American Idol, and the venue and possible the Idol would have thrown at them. So, I think they’re being extra cautious with Adam.

So, the possibility could be the crowds are getting crazier with Adam. All I know is something is happening that they are being extra cautious and keeping Adam away from signing.

I’ve already watched about six times – don’t ask me why.

I know why. No explanations necessary.

Oh – I see where during DSB Danny pointed to those guys in the front row and then he made the heart sign to them – then Adam at the end pointed to them as well and pointed to his heart – sentiments of love from both Danny and Adam to those guys – that was a nice acknowledgement, they seem to be having a blast in the front row jamming away, they sure enjoyed it and had their money’s worth – it was fun watching them too.

I would absolutely love to see Adam on GQ’s cover! and I think it would be good to see him “all dressed up” as he was in the Cavalli suit at the finale.

Re the rest of it: y’know, we are kind of at loose ends tonight, no concert, no news…and some of our thoughts are getting a little bit circular and going a little bit far into totally unsupported speculation (me, too!). Personally, I love conspiracy theories, but maybe it is time to let this one go until someone actually has something that resembles a fact.

I, too, would love a bubble tweet but the idols have only a day of very well-deserved rest after a really long drive.

As only an idle/idol observer, I have already found this tour to be very long…how much harder it must be for the idols!

I noticed on the Sunrise Cry Baby video that Allison put back the original ending that she used from Portland to LA. This ending is a much better finish to the song, and I’m happy that Allison has added it back in, providing she can do it without injuring her voice.

Also, for those obsessed with the word “barracuda”, Allison is now singing the magic word several times in the song, including at the end.

AnninSD, this is an interesting thought. It’s very possible! At the same time, a simple solution for that problem would have been to send Adam out pre-concert, and have him announce publicly that he doesn’t come out after the concerts because he needs “down time” or whatever.

It sure was. It must be awfully tricky to get under that stage onto the lift!

That is his excuse for not coming out pre-show, and no one called him a diva. My point was that if 19 is trying to make sure people don’t leave during Kris’ set to get to the barricades to meet Adam, this would be the way to deal with that issue. After all, if that were the real issue here, rather than a security risk, they wouldn’t care if he went out pre-show. But, he’s not going out pre-show, either. And that’s suspicious. So, I don’t think it has anything to do with Kris or his set.

Frankly, I think they should just eliminate the signings altogether. I think they’re stupid and dangerous. I could care less about the fans who will be “hurt” by this. Life is tough. Get over it. When I go to a Bruce Springsteen concert, I hardly expect to have him run past me afterward, quickly signing a program or leaning in for a picture. I expect a good concert – period. Anything else is a bonus.

Actually his “excuse” is that it is hot, he is tired (a lot of interviews, writing songs, recording an album), he tries to preserve his voice before a concert cause a lot of notes are really high (which many professionals do to the point of not speaking that whole day). Not one person on that stage sings the kind of notes that Adam sings and combined with heat and not a lot of rest that takes a toll on your voice. I’m a singer, I know. And most of all Adam wants to put on the best set as he possibly can which includes him being is vocal best.

People leave before the end of a concert (or ball game) before it is over all the time to get the kids home and in bed, to beat traffic, etc. I think 19 knows that.

And I agree that the bus signings should be eliminated before something bad happens now or in the future. These guys have to go through so much on a daily basis and the have to deal with people grabbing you, yelling at you, etc. is stupid.

Coming out pre-show I don’t believe Adam ever did and not for ‘diva’ like reasons but more his hectic schedule and resting his voice etc pre-show.
You have to admit besides the vocal acrobatics he has to most tiring dance routine of the whole show.

I won’t go as far as there is ANY ‘real’ threat on anyone until it is announced in an official statement. I do believe as you (Zsus) intimated that they should eliminate all but the ‘text contest’ M&G as with other concerts.

The problem is this show is SOOO rapped up in pleasing the TV show audience (ratings ratings) and most of those that actually show up to the bus line M&G are usually the same ones that ‘believe’ touching an idol or getting a signature is ‘owed’ to them in some way for their original vote and the TV producers behind 19E will never let go of those viewers (ratings), completely.
At least with this (bus M&G) still available to Kris and Allison fans, not to mention new Matt fans, it still ‘seems’ like they are catering to the crowd.

All the while Adam is ‘safe’ if needed and more people will stay inside for the whole show.

Still maybe only 10% of the reason but I still think keeping people in the seats in a small part of the reason…

Uhhhhh….I don’t think so. I can’t see anyone “allowing a stalker scare” just to avoid hurting someone’s feelings….that’s WAAAAYYY out on a limb. Kris is a big boy. All they’d have to do to stop that, is announce that anyone in line before the show ended would get escorted to the back. This has been going on for awhile, I don’t think they care. There may or may not be a stalker, but it isn’t fabricated or encouraged by 19.

I would bet my house, my belongings, my car, pretty much everything I own that this is absolutely not the case.

By all accounts, there aren’t more fans leaving before the show ends than there usually are at a typical concert.

And starting a stalker scare? When it isn’t true? I don’t think so.

Personally, unless a band/singer has held back a tune I REALLY want to hear, I rarely stay for encores – the traffic is too nuts. That said, I wouldn’t leave before an entire set of the final performer in this kind of arrangement – regardless of who it was.

I’ve never even considered staying after a concert with the hope of seeing a performer/performers – I wasn’t even aware that people did this for any concert. I get a good show for my $$, I am happy to discuss it with my companions. I get a crappy show, I bitch about it with my companions. ;)

I completely agree with MJ on everything (although she’s probably more polite than I am).

Following the conversation on the after-concert signing experience has been interesting. I never even knew such a thing was possible until I started reading this blog and other fan sites. My daughter was determined to have her “I must meet Adam” moment after the Dallas show. We both agreed that screaming stupid things at him seemed pointless and if we really had a moment with we would attempt to speak intelligently. I’m happy to say I was able to pull that off. I also noted that in interviews, most of the Idols said that they enjoy meeting their fans. Now I don’t know if that’s because their publicist is telling them that this is a good idea, to go out and give autographs and meet their adoring public, or if it is something they really like to do.

I will say that when Adam and Kris came out is Dallas, the mood of the crowd shifted a little. People became slightly more agitated in a jockeying-for-position-kind-of-way and some of the tween/drunk people screaming was a little much. I can imagine that this alone could become more than a even a publicist might want to inflict on an up and coming star.

I don’t think I’ll seek out another barricades at an Idol concert experience, but I don’t regret that I did it once. I’m glad I have Adam and Allison’s autograph. There may never be another chance.

As far as a mass exodus in Kris’s set, I don’t buy it. Last year, even before David Cook’s set began, people seemed to be leaving. Several David Cook fans a few rows down were a little bummed when people in the nosebleed seats didn’t stand with them and dance. My son laughed when one almost lost her balance. (He really is a nice boy, seriously.) I do not dance in small spaces way up high. (My husband bought the tickets grudgingly — never again!) I overheard the DC fans talking and pointing to the floor and off they went. I noticed a lot of people down below were making a mad rush to the stage. I think the security just let people go toward the end of the concert. A lot of people around me tried for better seats. So what appeared to be people leaving the concert was quite deceiving, quite the opposite. Secretly, I would have loved to have tried for the floor, but I knew my husband and son wouldn’t budge. ::shrugs:: I didn’t invite them this year.

Although, I haven’t been to concerts in years – we went to dozens in the 1970′s.

We always left our seats at the end of the concerts and went down to the front. And, never missed “rushing the stage” for the encore.

In fact, I recall being literally pinned to the front of a stage once at a David Bowie concert in 1974…with my arms squashed to my sides. As, there were so many people in the audience doing the same thing.
I could barely breathe – we were squished so tightly together.

Does this kind of thing go on today? I would tend to think this is a logical answer to what is going on. Sure, some fans leave early – for whatever reason, but rushing the stage has always been a tradition for frequent concert goers.

Thus – the empty seats??

Kanga – ah, the 70′ and 80′, good times to see live shows, when , indeed we could rush the stage and not get turned away by freaked out security guards because the fire marshal is in the house. And that’s the deal. In almost any indoor venue these days that is not general admission, there is no stage rushing. they will throw you out if you do not go back to your seat. Sad, but apparently it all has to do with our safety should a fire spontaneously start. I love show with General Admission. Much more fun to be able to wander the space in search for the place that you, the concert goer, the happiest.

As for empty seats at the Idol shows, I think some of it has to do with the barricades ritual, some to do with people who don’t want to deal with after concert traffic.

It doesn’t where I’m concerned. It does say he was with a bunch of friends, some of which could have been security. I’ll believe there’s nothing wrong when Adam breaks his silence.
