UPDATE: Protesters outside of the arena tonight–they may be anti-gay protesters targeting Adam and Allison, but reports are a little fuzzy at the moment.   @michaelsarver1 just tweeted: “For those outside protesting I say do not judge less ye be judged yourself. Guys don’t mind these people we are a strong family.” and “We are together in this this thing. You mess with one you mess with all ten. We are strong and we are 1.” ETA: As typical, the incident was blown out of proportion–there were 3-5 weirdos outside the arena protesting the show. Still not really clear what their problem was…

IDF is reporting via twitter that there are protesters at San Jose with signs against ‘big gay Adam’ .

Please let this be not true!

TWOP is reporting an Dadam sighting at San Jose!!!!! :)

  • twinkle

i saw that too. i REALLY hope that is not true.

  • adamland

Also have seen reports of a lot of religious protesters telling people to turn off the internet. Gahh!!!

  • ria

COULD YOU POST A LINK ON THAT.. TAHNKS!

  • Kirsten

IDF is reporting via twitter that there are protesters at San Jose with signs against ‘big gay Adam’ .

In San Jose? Seriously? You’d think they’d be busier with the target rich environment nearby.

An ONTD twitter is reporting “Jesus Protestors”, but they are anti-internet. Maybe they think the arena is Google headquarters. If the internet shut down, San Jose would be a ghost town. The ONTD twitterer doesn’t say who, other than the internet, is being protested. Maybe they don’t like Gokey. Or maybe they think twitter is the devil.

  • CindyM

Yeah, I saw something about a sign that preached againsst “idolatry”. It didn’t say anything specifically about Adam. But, that was just one sign, who knows.

  • Anne03
  • girlygirl

    Oh boy…

Well hopefully they are protesting something non-Idol related and just decided that the arena was a good place to make a public protest. Maybe they knew there was a concert there, so there’d be lots of people around.

Anyone got any links to tweeters who might let us know?

  • karenw

I wonder if all these protesters made their anti big gay Adam and anti internet signs in the good old AI tradition of bright colours, puff paints and lots of glitter

  • Kirsten

Yeah, I saw something about a sign that preached againsst ‘idolatry’ . It didn’t say anything specifically about Adam.

So they are anti-Idol and anti-internet. Do they have something against the letter “I”? Do they refuse ice in their drinks and would kick down any igloo they saw? Would they wear the colour indago? Do they ever get ill? Or do they just make others ill?

  • KenzTK

Well hopefully they are protesting something non-Idol related and just decided that the arena was a good place to make a public protest. Maybe they knew there was a concert there, so there’d be lots of people around.

Yeah right, and I’m the President.

Please don’t let this be true.

  • Anne03

According to IDF post, they are protesting Adam because he’s gay.

  • GeminiDolly

:( I hope thats not true. How sad.

  • http://twitter.com/cara_lee pj

Yeah, I’d like to see pictures of the signs. Most protesters have signs.

If true, I guess peeps can quit ragging on the South now…

According to IDF post, they are protesting Adam because he’s gay.

What is there to protest about someone being gay? Color me confused. Are they saying he shouldn’t be on tour?

  • Qcloud9

Has anyone heard if there will be uStream tonight? I wish someone would do it for Anoop’s set & Beggin….

  • adamland

Over on TWoP one poster said there is a sign against Adam and Allison. Would like to see twitpics of these signs.

  • Pam

If true, I guess peeps can quit ragging on the South now’ ¦

Very true. I would expect that kind of thing in this part of country but not there. I’m in NC btw.

I know the sound is kinda iffy at best but if anyone is interesting in hearing the cellcast for this show, you can listen at Rickey’s HERE. Megan is up at the moment.

  • http://twitter.com/cara_lee pj

Over on TWoP one poster said there is a sign against Adam and Allison.

Damn! Peeps need to get a life. Protesting a concert is pretty lame. Go protest the war or boycott the meat industry. Geez.

  • dhunken

According to IDF post, they are protesting Adam because he’s gay.

In San Jose Really!!! Oh the Irony. Well if it’s true he is in good company they (Religious fanatics) protested Madonna, Bowie, Rolling Stones, Queen, Jim Morrison…..the list goes on and on and on.

There just helping to create his future iconic status.

  • papercut

My friend is there and she spotted a sign that protests Allison, Adam and Kris. This is ridiculous. These religious people have absolutely no life. I hope the Kradison fangirls scare them away.

  • GeminiDolly

Seriously, what has Adam done to deserve this type of behavior?? He just wants to sing. UGH, Im so pissed right now if thats true. And Allison too? What the heck has she done?

  • Kirsten

Over on TWoP one poster said there is a sign against Adam and Allison.

What’s the theme there? They don’t like the letter “A”? They don’t like people who dye their hair? They don’t like rockers? They are anti-human race (okay, the last one is probably true. Those cranks are always illogical).

Well, now they’ve added Kris so I guess they just don’t like people who can sing.

  • CRB

I went to the San Jose show last year. Curiously, short of sedation, you couldn’t get me into the building for this cast. What a difference a year makes.

    Heart Jul 12th, 2009 at 10:06 pm

IDF is reporting via twitter that there are protesters at San Jose with signs against ‘big gay Adam’ .

Wouldn’t surprise me, bigotry is everywhere. And it only takes a couple of a-holes to make “a statement”.

  • FifthHouseSun

Twitter just may be the devil. Except that it’s so easy to manipulate.

If the 10,000 Adam fans with cell phones and cameras just standing in line had seen gay-bashing protestors wouldn’t Twitter have collapsed under the weight now? Not to mention the riots.

If you go to Twitter, search “Jesus protesters” you will see the same 3 people bouncing tweets back and forth. And they eventually realize that nothing happened. Except possibly some protesters about the Internet.

The way to find Twitterers at any event, like the concert is search the performers names at Twitter. Like “Sarver”. Or “Megan”. In the order of their performance, or after they’ve performed. (Searching Kris & Adam gets too many.) Or search “Idol”. Doing that reveals a couple people taking pictures of the stage from their seats.

Zero of those people mentioned any gay-bashing. (In San Jose?). One did mention there was free WiFi at the arena. Don’t know if that’s true either.

  • Cheetara86

omgcassiee some guy is at the entrance telling people they’ll go to hell if they watch the concert. they’re protesting against adam&ALLISON(wtf?!) 11 minutes ago from web

  • CindyM

One did mention there was free WiFi at the arena. Don’t know if that’s true either.

I’ve been to that arena, HP Pavillion, right? Went for a hockey game, there was free wi-fi. They gave away laptops during the intermissions.

  • iluvai

Someone above mentioned the word “idolatry”. Maybe people don’t understand the blog use of that word and think that AI fans “worship” their AI idols like the golden cow or something. Kinda silly. LOL.

  • Ellie2

From what I can gather on twitter, it sounds like it’s one guy doing the protesting. I’m surprised he hasn’t been pummelled by all the Glamberts.

  • GeminiDolly

Guess they hate talent. Their loss. KRADISON FTW!!!!

  • dhunken

My friend is there and she spotted a sign that protests Allison, Adam and Kris

It’s a Mad World filled with Barracuda’s that are Heartless.

  • CindyM

Someone above mentioned the word ‘idolatry’ . Maybe some non-American Idol fans don’t understand the AI blog use of that word and think that AI fans ‘worship’ their idols(i.e. the American Idol kind). LOL.

My first thought…how come they’re hating on Slezak??

  • girlygirl

Allison? Huh, what? Do they not think minors should be allowed on tour or something?

    And Kris, too? Why?

Because they are really tight with Adam? Or have gotten the most press? Because they’re the ones with record deals?

Huh…Man whoever this protester is, s/he seems to hate talent.

  • Anne03

    Quote from someone of IDF:

“Alright, I’m talking to a friend of mine who’s there right now. She just IM-ed me from her phone, and said that Dadam & Mombert are both there, and there are protesters who are protesting against Adam. She told me she screamed at them and told them to go to hell, but that didn’t do any good.”

  • twinkle

here’s one pic, but you cant really tell what they are protesting

    http://twitpic.com/a6nzt

  • Ellie2

Oh, just had a bad thought…I hope Fred Phelps doesn’t show up at the KC concert to protest Adam. I may have to kick his ass. He and I have gone a few rounds before. What a jackass.

  • Q3

    Froom Twitter:

SeattleSusieQt was usual Jesus saves folks. i see them at all concerts

Sound like much ado about nothing.

  • star

The person who tweeted that pic above said this:

They’re preaching against idolatry at American idol http://twitpic.com/a6nzt

It looks like, 2 or 3 people at most.

  • adamland

    Ellie2 Jul 12th, 2009 at 10:44 pm

Oh, just had a bad thought’ ¦I hope Fred Phelps doesn’t show up at the KC concert to protest Adam. I may have to kick his ass. He and I have gone a few rounds before. What a jackass.

RMAO! I can see the headlines the next day “Glambert Kicks Ass at American Idol Concert Last Night” Then as you read the post, it actually says KC Mom and Adam Lambert fan in jail for assaulting Fred Phelps at AI concert.

  • hollygo9

Protesters?! Could the stupidity end now, please? Thanks in advance.

  • readon

I hope this is not a big deal. No one needs to deal with this homophobic BS right now.

  • butte009

    was usual Jesus saves folks.

Hmmm… Must not have gotten the Danny memo…..

  • Q3

I think 3 people and 1 sign shouldn’t really be called picketers!

  • revcat

edit: it has. let’s keep this thread focused on the concert

Regarding the protestors, I’m appalled and mystified. Sounds like fringe elements of our society. Sometimes I want to go live in a cave!

  • Natasha

    Quote from someone of IDF:

‘Alright, I’m talking to a friend of mine who’s there right now. She just IM-ed me from her phone, and said that Dadam & Mombert are both there, and there are protesters who are protesting against Adam. She told me she screamed at them and told them to go to hell, but that didn’t do any good.’

Same IDFer posted her friend says 5 people with megaphones. I hope it’s not a big deal.

Neither Adam or Allison went out pre-show.

  • http://www.f3-properties.com Animated

These protesters are probably saying that all those who watch the concert are doomed. I cannot resist but say – yes that is true.

All those who go are doomed to fall under the clutches of one named Adam Lambert. It can be fatal. Bad for business ( many forget their jobs) , bad for family( many seems to have forgotten their husbands or kids to feed) and bad for health ( an addiction where the cure is yet to be formulated). Same can be said of Kris and Allison .

Too many bad things during this recession. Have to lighten up.

Glad to know Adam’s parents are there. Whatever happens, family is always best to have around, both great times and crazy times.

  • Jx223

This person on Twitter says that it’s anti gay protest. And they have mentioned on their Twitter some of the signs the protesters have made, and what the protesters have said to other people regarding Adam.

    http://twitter.com/_SimplyChelsea_

Also someone at IDF who has a friend at the concert says that their friend told them that there are about 5 protesters at the concert with megaphones.

  • karenw

Just looks like a couple of nutters to me with a sign and a megaphone .. someone should tell them that for a proper protest they need more than three peeps and they need to make their sign less cluttered so that people can actually read what it is they’re protesting about

  • GeminiDolly

They are calling Allison the “fruit enabler” WTF???

  • Cheetara86

@debbielosee And there are signs calling allison a “Fag Enabler” and they are telling people they are going to hell

  • honowoowoo

Relax folks, it’s just another guy giving Jesus a bad rap!

  • twinkle

here is a tweet from a girl that has been there a few nights now

renee_snyder: protesting was just a few people. related to AT&T not the idols

  • Ellie2

RMAO! I can see the headlines the next day ‘Glambert Kicks Ass at American Idol Concert Last Night’ Then as you read the post, it actually says KC Mom and Adam Lambert fan in jail for assaulting Fred Phelps at AI concert.

LMAO! Hey, maybe Adam would come visit me in jail!

  • http://myspace.com/girlgeek mj

^^^ That sounds like the Phelps. They do travel out of KC to protest.

  • http://twitter.com/cara_lee pj

Who is/are Phelps? I guess not the swimmer. LOL.

Anyhoo, sounds like some crazies. No doubt most concert-goers will dismiss them as such. No biggie.

  • GeminiDolly

Anyways, back to the concert. Is it intermission yet?

  • honowoowoo

    What or who is IDF?

  • Ellie2

I was just thinking that, MJ. I wonder if it is him and his wackadoodle family. Honestly, they are a seriously disgusting bunch of people.

  • Qcloud9

That was a smokin hot pic of Anoop that Rickey displayed during the cellcast of Anoop’s set tonight!

  • Pam

Anyways, back to the concert. Is it intermission yet?

Not yet. Matt is on right now. He’s on his last song, then the group number just before intermission.

  • abbysee

Eh, it’s prolly no big deal. Fella figured he’d check and see if Adam had a green card. Heard he was an alien and alls. No harm no foul. Park your space ship out back, we validate parking, lol.

  • http://myspace.com/girlgeek mj

    Who is/are Phelps?

That nutty family who calls themselves a “church”. They are pathologically homophobic, they travel all over the country to protest different events with signs that say lovely things like “God hates fags”. Just to prove how nutty they are–they protested at Fred Rogers funeral because they felt he encouraged little boys to be gay.

  • http://twitter.com/cara_lee pj

They are calling Allison the ‘fruit enabler’ WTF???

LOL. I just bought a juicer. Perhaps Allison can send me some recipes.

  • Q3

I guess that Alison is bad because she does a duet with a OMG gay man!!

Does anyone have any idea why Sarver is on their list of sinners?

  • Ellie2

Just to prove how nutty they are’“they protested at Fred Rogers funeral because they felt he encouraged little boys to be gay.

And they protest at the funerals of people who died from AIDS, sporting their giant, disgusting signs. I’m not a violent woman, but they make me want to hurt someone.

  • twinkle

    here is another picture.

    http://twitpic.com/a6ntz

i guess their “God” (in quotes because i think they must have a different God than me) doesn’t love them enough for them to muster more than a few people to right the world’s wrongs.

  • lola

Let them protest (if it’s true). We have freedom of speech. If turns out to be anti-Adam, anti-Allison, or anti-Kris, it will be their gain, publicity wise.

  • abbysee

they protested at Fred Rogers funeral because they felt he encouraged little boys to be gay.

Get the hell out? Seriously. These shits give Jesus a bad name. This is reprehensible. Adam won’t be bothered though. He’s fierce! Hell Allison can handle these creep all on her own.

  • CindyM

How much of this is real and how much of it is “twitter telephone”. The ones we know are there aren’t saying all this are they??

  • http://twitter.com/cara_lee pj

That nutty family who calls themselves a ‘church’ . They are pathologically homophobic, they travel all over the country to protest different events with signs that say lovely things like ‘God hates fags’ . Just to prove how nutty they are’“they protested at Fred Rogers funeral because they felt he encouraged little boys to be gay.

Crazy! Just read about them on wiki. They call Bill O’Reilly a “fag enabler.” LMAO. Total loons. Much ado about nothing.

  • karenw

    here is another picture.

    http://twitpic.com/a6ntz

lol .. are they really protesters? .. just look like a couple of tourists with a very bad taste in clothes to me .. wtf’s with those pants the one on the left’s wearing?

I think Adam needs to give them some fashion advice

  • Pam

^^^^Top top that off these are also the same loons who protest at the funerals of the fallen servicemen and women which is also mentioned in that Wiki page. You can read it HERE.

  • Cheetara86

there are so many conflicting reports so their could be people who are protesting with multiple reasons…

  • abbysee

lol .. are they really protesters? .. just look like a couple of tourists with a very bad taste in clothes to me .. wtf’s with thows pants the one on the left’s wearing?

I think Adam needs to give them some fashion advice

If the subject matter weren’t so effing warped this would be very funny. Those outfits are sinful, lol.

  • Q3

Let them protest (if it’s true). We have freedom of speech. If turns out to be anti-Adam, anti-Allison, or anti-Kris, it will be their gain, publicity wise.

No they don’t have Kris on this list of “sinners” — yet!

Crazy! Just read about them on wiki. They call Bill O’Reilly a ‘fag enabler.’ LMAO. Total loons. Much ado about nothing.

The loons unless they’re at your friend’s/family member’s funeral. Then they are disgusting and disruptive.

  • clearone

Freedom of speech is not always a good thing especially when something this ridiculous is allowed.

…and how can it not affect those they are targeting?

  • lola

I’d like to give these protesters some credit. At least we have something new to talk about other than the routinary comments such as how great everyone was in the show or comparing one idol to the other. Good or bad, it’s still publicity……(don’t mind me, i just want positive thoughts about the whole thing)

  • iluvai

    MJ:

Who is Fred Rogers? (Not Mr. Rogers I hope.) :cry_wp:

  • Ellie2

The loons unless they’re at your friend’s/family member’s funeral. Then they are disgusting and disruptive.

Exactly. About 15 years ago, they were protesting on the sidewalk outside a neighbor’s house whose son had just been buried that morning. He was gay and died of AIDS. Phelps and his family were carrying their giant, hideous signs and yelling hateful things. I was home from college and totally lost my shit, I admit. Getting into a screaming match with them accomplished nothing, of course. But it made me feel a little better.

  • Q3

Who is Fred Rogers? (Not Mr. Rogers I hope.) Yes, Mr. Rogers!!

ontd_ai and IDF have mobilized to get #NOH84KRADISON to trend on twitter.

  • iluvai

I can’t wait to hear some fun tweets from this show. Some weirdo’s shouldn’t dominate the fun! :smile2_tb:

  • brextra

I don’t see anything on the Phelps website schedule related to American Idol.

Although I admit, I have been scared that they would show at a concert to protest Adam.

  • Ellie2

Those people in the pictures so far don’t look like the Phelps family to me.

  • Susan M.

here’s one pic, but you cant really tell what they are protesting

    http://twitpic.com/a6nzt

Freak shows notwithstanding, it’s a gorgeous day in San Jose …

And I know there’s a rivalry between NoCal and SoCal, but attacking Adam and Allison for that?

ETA: Fred Phelps question. I forgot I was on page one. Thanks for the info: sickness.

  • lola

At this early stage, we (Adam fans) should be prepared on incidents such as this. Of course, we don’t want trouble for Adam. But we can’t avoid it. This is the reality about the current state of the country’s social conditions. I still think everything will be fine for our boy.

  • jericho

@michaelsarver1 For those outside protesting I say do not judge less ye be judged yourself. Guys don’t mind these people we are a strong family. 5 minutes ago from TwitterFon

  • Q3

The Phelps are dispicable. But they are usually focused an their anti-gay message. These people are also protesting the Internet, Google and AT&T.

And I know there’s a rivalry between NoCal and SoCal, but attacking Adam and Allison for that?

There are often protesters like this at concerts — protesting in the name of Jesus.

And I’ve never heard of anyone from Northern Cal. picketing someone from SoCal. Or vice versa.

  • Q3

@michaelsarver1 For those outside protesting I say do not judge less ye be judged yourself. Guys don’t mind these people we are a strong family.

Michael keeps going up in my book. Very classy!

  • FifthHouseSun

ontd_ai and IDF have mobilized to get #NOH84KRADISON to trend on twitter.

But couldn’t that just create more publicity for the haters?

Upthread I was skeptical about they’re being gay-bashers in San Jose. But it appears there may be a couple crazy people there. (And possibly some ATT & Internet protesters, as well.) So, I stand corrected, but not about Twitter.

The instant, amplifying Twitter reverb gives these nuts just what they want: Attention.

Still, the upside of Twitter is classy tweet from Sarver.

  • Q3

Too bad that they can’t add “One” to tonight’s concert!

  • Susan M.

Q3, I was totally kidding. I wrote that forgetting I was on page one and hadn’t read further to realize there were these actual Phelps-esque (or Phelps) people out there. Which makes my skin crawl.

  • iluvai

    Q3:

I can’t believe that anyone would take aim at Mr. Fred Rogers. I guess that’s how you know some folks are crazy. I loved him. Well, my sister loved him. I was kind of too old for his show( okay I admit it, I watched it with her because this was before kids had any choices on t.v. LOL.) But he was very comforting and sweet.

  • Q3

Susan M. I got it — I was trying to be scarcastic. Guess I need to try harder.

  • abbysee

If this is what they call a protest I am actually pleased. It shows how weak they really are. I wouldn’t give them any more thought. If Michael Sarver ain’t worried, then neither am I, lol. Awareness, winning them over, one by one.

  • Q3

    Opps, I meant sarcastic!

  • Q3

Alison is getting lots of cheers but the crowd is Adam-centric again judging by the cheers for his name when she mentioned it>

  • webster

I really hope that this isn’t true, about the protest. Even if it’s only a few, it would really bother me that these guys are exposed to it at all. It’s got to hurt. Even if you know it’s just a few random idiots whose opinions are worthless, it’d make you wonder if that’s going to happen every where you go.

  • http://twitter.com/cara_lee pj

At this early stage, we (Adam fans) should be prepared on incidents such as this. Of course, we don’t want trouble for our boy. But it will create awareness to the present social conditions of our country and I think everything will be fine.

Honestly, I’ve never seen a protest at a concert ever. I attend many each year. I really don’t think this will happen on a regular basis. Seems to me like a few loons that no one is taking seriously. I doubt it will be covered in the media, unless the San Jose press mentions it and it spreads from there.

I said this in the headline thread (not in so many words), but I think it’s silly to think that Adam will have problems in the south. LOL. No one wants to act the fool. Unless you’re crazy.

  • Q3

michaelsarver1We are together in this this thing. You mess with one you mess with all ten. We are strong and we are 1.

  • jericho

deleted cause Q3 beat me to it!

  • Susan M.

This insane situation reminds me of when i went to Mardi Gras in N.O. a few years ago. There was a group of scary, scary people (and that’s in the context of Mardi Gras!) with a giant crucifix and huge signs a bull horn ensuring everyone’s fiery damnation. They were the most bizarre sight there. The whole thing was a jaw-dropping spectacle and only served to rally any sane person around those they were protesting against.

  • Q3

Michael is getting all kind of support for his tweets on Twitter.

Maybe Danny will become more open-minded, too.

Even though there are only a few protesters, too bad it’s when both of Adam’s parents are there.

  • Susan M.

Q3, oops! Me too. Subtext is hard to convey in print ‘“ especially when we’re reading really fast.

  • CindyM

It’s funny, I went to a hockey game at that arena, NJ Devils vs Sharks, there were “Jesus Saves” signholders and “End is Near” people. Maybe 5. We thought it was amusing at a Devils game. Maybe they’re regulars.

  • dhunken

    So 100% agree with you.

Maybe Danny will become more open-minded, too.

Even though there are only a few protesters, too bad it’s when both of Adam’s parents are there.

Anyone else think Scott is the real prick/asshole of the group?

ETA: I’ve never liked his music or his attitude, and his tweets are so narcissistic.

  • twinkle

sarver’s tweets made me a little teary. not gonna lie.

  • weareallinnocent

Sadly, I’m only surprised that this is the first we’ve heard of protests. :-( Silently, I’ve feared this type of thing for awhile.

It’s unfortunate for Dadam and Mombert that they have to see this, if they did, but I can’t help but be comforted for Adam, as he knows they are there for him. That goes a long way, I suspect.

And, yeah, Sarver’s stock just went way up in my book. Sorry I ever thought poorly of the guy. Of course, he just made me cry. But, that’s ok too.

    http://www.tolerance.org/order_forms/index.html

When Kris and Adam sing together side by side in the closing group number, they remind us people who are different can not only get along, but also bridge differences and bring others together. Not divide people/pit people against others. One message of Kris, Adam, Allison and Idol is talent matters and tolerance is the way forward. Am unsure where to post discussion of responding to hateful speech outside the San Jose venue. This forum connects Idol fans across many communities….the link has lots of ideas for responding in a positive way to hateful speech in whichever of the 50 cities the Idol tour will visit…or in your city…school…fan forum….

Yay for Michael Sarver and his tweet. I do think this group is tight. Good for them.

Is there any music news in San Jose?

I just reread this…. and it sounds kinda flip. I didn’t mean it that way!!!! I hope we get some pics and vids soon.

  • Susan M.

I do have to say, my peripheral take has been that Sarver truly is a stand-up guy.

  • ria

I feel sad about the protestors..

  • lola

I’m glad that they are indeed one for all and all for one. Remember when some nasty things was said about Matt re: the little girl giving a letter to Adam and Matt “allegedly” refused it. The next day, Adam appeared on Matt’s bubble tweet to squash the rumor.

  • kradamour

The protesters make me so angry for the young kids who are gay and who really see Adam as a role model – my son is gay, you cannot imagine his thrill to see an openly gay idol receive so much love and admiration! and just a couple of craze-o’s have really put a cloud on his happiness. This will pass, of course, but for tonight he is sad both for Adam and for himself.

  • bridgeymah

protesting AI concert – wow people really do need to get a life…

  • pineapple

Michael’s tweet confirmed what I think most of us have thought for while- this really is a pretty closely knit group. Sarver has definitely risen even more in my estimation. What a great guy.

kradamour, I just like to remind myself that for every one of the haters, there are thousands, even millions who love and support Adam. I hope that can bring your son (and Adam) a little bit of comfort.

  • weareallinnocent

I’m so sorry kradamour. I don’t know what else to say, other than now I’m really crying for the senseless hurt felt by your son. Tell him we’re not all like that, and in fact, very few people are. (Sorry, that’s all I’ve got right now. How lame am I.)

  • bridgeymah

I seriously doubt a few rogue weirdo protestors will send Adam into any kind of tailspin. He is not fresh off the bus and I am sure having lived open and out for nearly a decade has seen much much worse.

There are asses everywhere – just ignore what they shovel anything else just increases their impact. And do back to the concert… is Adam on yet?

Anyone else think Scott is the real prick/asshole of the group?

I think Scott is the one Adam does not get along with. I’ve thought that for awhile now.

  • Susan M.

@kradamour, you had me at your name. It’s awesome. I got choked up when I read your post. These craze-os are indicative of how small, insignificant and pathetic the haters are. They are an embarrassment. I hope your son does see the huge contingent of people who adore and accept Adam as who he is and will no long accept this arbitrary hate. In a sick way, these freaks are actually spurring the tolerance movement further, by being such unrelateable examples for anyone with a modicum of empathy or integrity.

  • lola

“I just like to remind myself that for every one of the haters, there are thousands, even millions who love and support Adam.”

    - True….and I believe more and more will support him if protest like this will continue. It’s like “me against the world” and you know who wins in the end.

  • Q3

kradamour, if you look at the tweets, it’s 1,000′s in support of Adam.

Living in New Orleans, I’ve seen the protestors in the French Quarter (tourist trap areas) during Mardi Gras. These protestors are generally from other parts of the country. I’ll be attending the tour in Memphis and really have no concerns about this sort of thing being worse in the South.

Honestly, I’ve never seen a protest at a concert ever.

I had a Jehovah’s Witness try to get me to repent my evil ways at an Allman Brothers concert at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center back in the early 70s. She was very upset with me when I told her that, right at that very moment, I was more interested in Statesboro Blues than hearing about the baby jesus.

I don’t think it’s Scott because Scott actually cited Adam as one of his best friends in Idol. I still think it’s Sarver. I think right now he is trying to win over some fans by being nice on twitter. I have never hated him. But honestly, I think he’s loving this protest thing because he’s milking it for all its worth. (He’s already tweeted three times) But his tweets have been nice (hopefully he means it and not just to win fans over).

  • In the Stars

I haven’t read this thread yet. Just signed on and saw this bad news. I am only following Danny, Adam, Kris, and Anoop right now on twitter as those were the only addresses I knew. Would someone please post the addresses for the other Idols? I want to follow all of their views. I sure hope that this has nothing to do with Adam although is probably does. What is wrong with people??!! All that Adam wants is a singing career and he’s such a sweet boy. This upsets me very much. I have tears in my eyes.

Why is it every time Adam is mentioned the next name is Allison – this kid is only 17 years old everyone keeps referring to them as though they are a couple – is there something I am missing? Is something going on on the downlow. Who is the guardian with Allison on the tour bus – does anyone know? I am curious….something seems suspicious. Now the protestors targeting her too and I wonder why.

I know this is O/T but I remember protesters at the “Last Temptation of Christ” movie. There was one guy dressed as Jesus and dragging a nearly full size cross with him. He had a couple of friends with him dressed as disciples. Anyhoo, I remember after the movie seeing them in the underground parking structure. They couldn’t remember where they parked and they had to drag that cross around and were arguing about what floor they were on. I can’t take religious protesters seriously anymore.

One final post on the protest issue – I cannot say how touched I am by the concerns expressed for my son (and the many young men and women like him). HUGE kudos to Adam’s mom for making it easy for him to come out to her – she, too, is a role model and perhaps one day she will decide to become more public about the role of parenting a gay son.
As several have pointed out here, the result of Adam’s success seems to be the opening of a lot of minds – many more than are being closed. A small backlash is to be expected – and overlooked.

Allison’s mom is on tour with her.

And maybe it’s because Allison is very close to both Adam and Kris — she calls them her “big brothers”. Adam said in his RS interview that out of all the other AI8 people, he’s closest to Kris and Allison. He adores Allison and calls her his “little sister”

My thoughtss are I should believe some public Tweets, why again? Sorry. But yes, thank you Sarver for making public statements supporting Adam. After what you thought were private statements like ‘where I come from, gays are either dead or in the closet.’ Or “right” and “godley,” types of love between men. Where you didn’t think it would cause a problem and when you got an internet shitstorm, deleted it and didn’t get it.

Michael probably still believes Adam is a sinner– it’s how he was raised. (no excuse, i know) But. I mean, something I guess has to be said for him not propagating hate and you know, attempting to be a good guy. We can’t really expect him to change his beliefs, but if he’s treating Adam with respect, I suppose it’s the best we can hope for. In a perfect world, “accepting people” would be a given. But it’s not. Perhaps Michael is making strides…

OR he’s just milking this for all its worth and is still trying to make up for the “Where I’m from”… comment.

  • EveLambert

Sarver has won over some of Adam’s fans tonight by tweeting what you want to hear to cover up previous rumors and that statement about loving Gokey in a Godly way – I still don’t trust him – few kind words and your hearts melt and your minds forget conveniently – WOW!

I would like to know with the protestors, what is Adam supposed to do now, go hide in a closet somewhere – he is open and presumably honest with his gayness – Gheez – you damn if you do and damn if you don’t – but I am sure Adam can handle things he knows it comes with the territory.

edit: don’t question the motives of posters

If you were a friend/advisor to kradison, what would you advise them to do about all this?
My guess is they were not aware of it, or not until Sarver or other tweet followers told them.
They were probably focusing on the show. Would you advise them to
    (a) ignore it;
    (b) tweet about it;
    (c) do one tweet in the idol09 twitter address?

  • revcat

Was it ever established there were more than 2 people protesting?

I think Sarver is being sincere, I don’t think he had much exposure to “people who are different” in his home town. I doubt if his religious beliefs have changed at all, but IMO he is more sensitive now and wouldn’t want to hurt anyone – you know, do unto others… Even a good ‘ole boy can evolve.

  • http://www.f3-properties.com Animated

You know what, these protesters are not actually the lethal ones. At least we know, openly , what they stand for. Folks like this, at most will just create annoyance.

Those that create the most harm are those who appear to be tolerant and accepting but otherwise are not. I have had several established business people under the guise of friendly conversations, warn me of hiring gay people to key positions in the corporation.- that a gay person would be unstable and cannot be relied upon.

You know what, two of my most trusted staff just happen to be gay. I have relied on them 24/7 and their performance have been above par.

There are many facets to this issue.

I support Adam for his talent and for his courage. Have always and will always support those with great talent and with great courage to fight for that talent. And who are willing to work the hardest they can muster to realize their dreams. And his being gay, is part of what makes him who he is. The sum of his parts has come out superbly greater as a whole.

Kradamour you can tell your son about this.
That there are many people who look at a person’s qualities and qualifications and for them alone. He should, like Adam, not be afraid to work hard for the realization of his dreams. There may be those that will try to derail him but there will be those that will support him.

  • Susan M.

I agree those glass are aweful and should be smashed. But he always wears them. Also, I would like to burn the denim vest and Kris’ plaid shirt. They gave Kris a wardrobe budget but it doesn’t look like he spent any of the money. maybe he should go shopping with Adam!

I KNOW! If Adam can manage to look bad in those sunglasses, well, we’re all doomed. What is up with those?

Kris and his attachment to plaid shirts? Don’t get that either. He looks GREAT in anything ‘“ a t-shirt, a plain, solid v-neck, a button-down? God forbid a suit … Kris really could wear anything and still keep it very simple and stripped down. I loved some of his message t-shirts during the results shows. I don’t really get his attachment to the plaid other than they’re lightweight and comfortable.

I think you guys get sucked in quite easily – Sarver has won over some of Adam’s fans tonight by tweeting what you want to hear to cover up previous rumors and that statement about loving Gokey in a Godly way – I still don’t trust him – few kind words and your hearts melt and your minds forget conveniently – WOW!

But for the past 6 weeks Michael has spent more time with Adam than he did on the show. And you know how Adam’s pixie dust seems to win over people. It is quite possible that Michael has realized that Adam is a good guy and looks at Adam a little differently now. I’m not saying he is going to be out there marching in Pro-Gay events but maybe he has had a change of heart about one gay and that is something in itself. I’ve seen some video lately where Adam and Michael look at each other and crack up over something and there is no hesitation on Adam’s face or mannerisms to indicate he is forcing his reactions to Michael.

  • aek

Even though Adam took the high road and said he and Danny were fine with each other, I have always thought Danny was the one person Adam didn’t get along with. Adam’s brother blogged about it.

This is NOT true. Adam’s brother, when the whole “ungodly” video came out said that “at least Gokey seemed like he was joking.” That is what Neil Lambert said. Do not spread untruths about Danny, please. He specifically said that he felt that Danny was joking.

Neil was actually more irritated with Sarver. But he did also say that he didn’t think that Sarver hated all gays, but did call him a “dick.”

  • rockvixen

All the niceness now doesn’t take away from Michael’s previous comments. He still on the blacklist for me.

Michael now lives in Jasper, TX but he was born , raised and went to High School in Sulfur, Louisiana — that about 90 minutes from New Orleans.

Also, since the tour started fans have commented on how nice Michael is. I really think that maybe he’s a lot nicer and more open-minded than he seemed on Idol.

Yes, I agree. I do think we have to allow people to grow and evolve. I am sure this experience on the road is going to change them all to some degree, even Adam. I’m sure Adam has never spent time with a Texas oil rigger before. This is the one time I do wish there was a camera following them around to hear their discussions and see how they deal with things.

I’m originally from New Orleans and 90 minutes in either direction can seem like you have gone into an alternate universe and either into redneck country or Cajunville. I was in the French Quarter a lot growing up and I was around gays and transvestites from an early age, but outside of N.O. is very different. And Michael seemed at first like your average redneck, but since the finale he has seemed to have changed.

The Sarver question: I am willing to give him the benefit of the doubt, even if the rumors of what he said early in the season were 100 percent true. I DEEPLY believe that it only takes one emotional connection to change someone’s heart and mind.

You can hear all the tripe in the world programmed into your brain from whatever sources, but once you have formed a relationship whether that person is “different,” or from a different race, heritage, orientation, culture … it is irrelevant. We so quickly learn they are just people, with the same hopes, fears, dreams and insecurities as anyone.

And it only takes one opportunity for engagement before most people realize, “Hey, this is an incredible person … what bullshit was I hung up on before?”

I believe Sarver has the capacity to evolve; his twitters tonight may be a tad self-indulgent, but maybe he’s just coming to that place of realization (we can all hope!!).

    TOLERANCE – FTW!

    I believe this overstates it.

I completely appreciate the sentiment expressed publicly by Sarver, and it moved me, probably because at the time, I felt such sadness and empathy for Adam. Does this mean I’ve been “sucked in?” Hardly. Do I hope that Sarver’s tweets are genuine and real? You betcha. How could I not? Would I be any better than those protestors if I chose to dismiss Sarver’s words and advocate (continued) hate for him because of his past comments and my interpretation of those? I’m thinking no.

I’m as cynical as the next person, so I have my doubts. But I have to give the guy my respect and benefit of the doubt, if I have any hope of him doing the same for “my guy.”

Just thought I would mention that when the protest scare first hit, one of the fan sites (can’t recall which one now – I’ve been all over the place) called for fans to tweet Michael Sarver (guess they thought he would be available since he would have finished his opening set) to get any info on what was really happening. Seems like Michael responded well and put everyone’s mind at rest. Sorry if this has already been commented on.

I wasn’t talking about the ‘godly’ blog.

I’ve never seen anything from Neil about the videos. I went to his blog space negativeneil.com and didn’t see anything about this. And he is the one that said that Adam told him (yes this does make it hearsay) that where he was from gays were either dead or in the closet. Which I personally only heard about after the video of Sarver and Gokey.

So yeah, possibly Sarver changed his entire believe system after these last few weeks, though I would point out that the “godley” and “rightly” video came out two months ago, tops. So yes, in those two months from then, he’s modified his entire belief system. That or he’s seen the crap he and Gokey have gotten and has learned to…gasp! play the game. He does after all get that Adam fans ask him to sign his RS cover, and does so saying “I love Adam.” Realizing that otherwise, few people want his autograph.

Sorry, colour me a bit cynical in sudden public conversions via Twitter (of all things) by the likes of Gokey and Sarver.

Meanwhile, I hope these protesters didn’t negatively affect Adam most of all. Or Allison and Kris as well, in their performances tonight.

I do like Adam’s hair when upswept at certain times. Loved it in If I Can’t Have You performance, not so much at other times. I’ll wait until the videos to make sure.

But I do know he better not get it cut while in LA! I want long hair Emo Adam back, thank you very much.

There were tweets that Allison was considered a “Fag enabler”. Whatever. Who knows what is the truth. But, I do think there will be more protests as the tour moves across the country. Nothing big, but an Idol tour is an easy place to get attention.

I think Adam would be fine in the south and mid part of the country doing his own tour, but Idol draws from a very conservative group in this part of the country. So, there’s bound to be some discomfort with those people and Adam’s performances. I’m not stereotyping people there as a whole, just perhaps those more likely to go see an Idol tour. Therefore, I think events like tonight are just beginning.

That was over ten years ago and Michael didn’t even live in Texas then. There are a lot of murders in Washington DC, but that doesn’t make everyone in DC a murderer.

I am also willing to give Danny and Michael both a break for the “godly way” comment. It was a stupid and insensitive thing to say, but I really not think is was intended to be hurtful or hateful.

According to a number of reports, these same 5 protesters are at a lot of events at this same venue — concerts, ice hockey and even when the ice show was in town. It doesn’t mean that there won’t be issues anywhere else, but I don’t think this incident means anything.

One of the centers of conservative Christian evangelicals is Orange County, CA. There is just as likely a chance for protester in Ontario, CA on the 17th as there is in the south.

Folks, I just have to say this. I am a huge Adam fan. Love the boy!! I am also a Christian and a Southern Baptist. I know there is talk of “tolerance” tonight and one of the tweets said “Jesus, protestors”. I can tell you this without a doubt…….Jesus does not teach “tolerance”, he teaches “love” for one another. These protestors are not what Jesus would want and certainly not what I want. I said this in a previous posting, tears filled my eyes when I first saw these tweets about protesters. Adam is a wonderful person who has worked for many years to get where he is today. I will always love and support Adam and can’t wait to buy his music.

I don’t know what Michael Sarver said previously. I just never heard anything about it. I do feel that he was sincere in his statements tonight. It’s wonderful to know that all 10 of them will stand together.

I wish all of them much success and happy lives.

  • sagi

i wasn’t saying that i thought Sarver was a murderer. I guess i didn’t elaborate. I was just trying to point out that even if Sarver made a comment about “where I come from…” that it wasn’t necessarily his views but stating the mentality of some.

  • wand3rful

how sarver treats adam has nothing to do w. his own personal views on homosexuality, IMO. the two can be exclusive. meaning, you can treat someone w. respect & love, yet at the same time disagree (privately and internally) w. their “lifestyle” (ugh, i hate using that word but only doing it to prove a point)…. sarver probably still believes adam’s sexual orientation is wrong in the eyes of his god but doesnt agree w. people like these idiots that have to preach out loud or protest about it……obviously none of us know the true feelings or opinions of ANY AI contestant… im only pointing out (for agrument sake) that there is no real evidence sarver has changed his tune in the past 2 months.

Michael and Danny knew that the gay talk against Adam has affected the people’s view about them (especially Adam’s fans). Haven’t you noticed lately that Danny is becoming more accomodating and spend more time to non-fans to win them over and he’s doing a good job so far. Same with Sarver. He even signed an autograph with a note I love Adam Lambert. I don’t want to question Sarver’s motives but Idon’t know….you can’t change a person’s views/ beliefs overnight.

and i will say that its not just certain parts of our country that is affected by stupidity…its all of america. even here in Los Angeles…after a cpl of cocktails, i’ve been horrified at some of the things people have said or admitted. ive seen parents drag their children (young, maybe ten and under!!) to hold pro prop 8 signs with words like “burn in hell, evil, die, etc”…ummmm yeah, on street corners of “normal” neighborhoods ……so these weirdos up in san jose do not surprise me. saddens me, but not surprised.

ITA with those who’ve mentioned that Scott seems to be the “odd man out” and perhaps the one who’s the most narcissistic. I first started getting inklings of dissonance during Larry King. He dominated the interview at certain points, and Adam and Kris seemed to exchange a look, like “umm hmmm.” I just can’t get a read on his personality, but I would err on the side of egocentric. I’ve never heard him say anything complimentary toward the other singers, nor congratulate Kris or Adam on their awesome finale. He overestimates his talent and I feel like the others are just biting their tongues sometimes around him.

Jasper texas is where those guys dragged the black man behind a truck for 3 miles until he was decapitated! Can you imagine the views on gays?

At the time, Jasper had an elected sheriff who is black. I’m not saying the area is free from racism, just that that particular area is known more for the lack of “genetic diversity” than racism these days. Racism exists, but I doubt it’s any worse than in small town Ohio or Nebraska. The whole area was horrified. It’s not good to make assumptions.

Attitudes towards homosexuality aren’t better, but getting there. These days most out there know “somebody,” even if that somebody is “so-and-so’s cousin Todd who moved to Houston.” I have feeling his church has more to do with his beliefs than the area he’s from…unless that family tree has few less branches than we think of as normal…no telling then.

I believe Michael. As it was said upthread, all it takes is one personal connection…

Thanks Josie. Wow, yeah, you could see the muscles! Danny sounded great, but that last line of My Wish has me a little worried. His voice did sound really hoarse in that spot.

Someone on here, I think, once said that the scratchy, raspy voices tend to go out sooner than others, I hope they are wrong. I really want to hear Danny on tour, and I’m not sure he knows how to protect his voice.

    Anyway, thanks again.

  • Natasha

Michael and Danny knew that the gay talk against Adam has affected the people’s view about them (especially Adam’s fans).

That’s for sure. Danny seems remarkably dense but I’m sure the gokeyisadouche incident got his attention. I’m sure Sarver would like to avoid seeing his name trending on twitter under those circumstances as well.

These things happen all the time in certain areas of our country and I know about some firsthand from visiting the beautiful but deep-south. Most of the southerners are wonderful, gracious people but some of them still seem to live in the stone ages. Yes, they do!

So do SOME people in Vegas.

I was told to be careful who I spoke to because I wasn’t a ‘cousin’ and didn’t ‘speak the language!’ A friend told me to get rid of my APWU (union) jacket because they ‘shoot people wearing those things around here.’ Needless to say, I didn’t stay long, lol. But isn’t this truly scary and sad???

Whoever you were hanging with was probably yanking your chain, and that you bought into it is what is sad.

For the record – I am from the South and I love Adam. But even if I didn’t, my feelings about him would be based on what he does on a stage, not in his private life. And in case you didn’t gather it from the moniker, I am on the “back in my day…” side of life, so it is not like I am some enlightened soul in a sea of Neanderthals.

Yeah, I have to agree. I was shocked when I read those statements….ott stereotype of what the South is like. Honestly, the most I’ve heard with regard to northerners, is sometimes when someone with a northern accent is not particularly polite….someone will say something like, “well it figures, what do you expect from a yankee?”

That’s not nice, but it’s a long way from violence, and I guess is no worse than the sterotypes that northerners have of the south.

this person has AMAZING videos from oakland. they each have less than 10 views so im guessing they havent been posted yet.

HAHA…I was going to say I’m sure that number will rise quickly after you posted. After clicking on it I see that I was right. Over 200 now.

As for the elvis hair, I love that he is changing things up. No getting boring and predictable for this boy.

And I have a question from a AI concert newbie to any veterans out there. I know that with some concerts there are times when some of the performers are unable to go on for whatever reason. When this happens do they do any filler numbers or do they just omit their set and shorten the concert? I mean they all have a stand out part in the group numbers so I was also curious how they handle that.

Hey guys. Morning to you all.
Just woke up and ran over here for concert news only to be struck by news of protests. :shock_tb:.

I don’t think this particular incident is a big deal – 6 people. I do however, expect to see more protests as we move through the states. Hopefully, the management took note of tonight and is taking future precautions.

It’s a sad state of affairs, but as the french would say, C’est la vie. Adam I’m sure will brush it off his shoulder and move on like the fierce glittery alien that he is.

I need some cheering up now, some vids please San Jose peeps.

LOL!!! That is True. I live in the south, and when I was a kid my cousin from Connecticut would come visit in the summer. My best friend and I would tell her ridiculous things (like the hamburger she just ate was possum meat) and we would speak in these exaggerated accents and say stuff like ” more scared than a long tailed cat in a roomful of rockin’ chairs” She bought every bit of it. We thought it was hilarious at the time. Strangely enough, I haven’t seen her in a really long time. hmmmmmmm.

  • AC

Hey, I just got home from the San Jose concert and I just wanted to comment on those protestors a little.. I was actually completely shocked they were there! I was rushing in because I got there at 6:50 so I didn’t want to pay attention to them because I did not want them ruining my mood. The only sign that I read was one about not sinning and after that I ignored the rest. Basically, as they were trying to give me fliers I gave them a really bitchy look (and I can get super bitchy if I wanted to) and just told them I love to sin. I do not know if they were signaling any one person out because they all were kinda saying different things. People either got a little mad, laughed it off, or ignored it. I thought that this would ruin my mood but it did not because once I got inside, I seriously forgot all about it until I saw this. Anyways, they looked crazy so no one really cares about them.

Allison had to go to the hospital? I assume it’s not serious since she performed tonight? I hope she feels completely better soon. :(

eta: Good, it sounds like a bit of vocal rest (they only have on show in the next three days, right?) will fix that.

also: Does anyone here know if you should call the day before a concert or the day of the concert (or some other time) if you want to try to snag floor seats? I’m sure this has been discussed, but I can’t find it.

And thank you for posting those videos, MJ and others who did so. That quality is amazing.

I got back from the San Jose concert and logged in to write my impression of the concert and saw a lot of comments regarding the protesters. No worries. It really was insignificant. Some gab about hell. I guess we will all go to hell. Whatever. I am just going to follow wherever Adam goes and we can have a all hell break loose burning hot partay.

Like AC I didn’t pay much attention and just moved on. Most people were doing the same. I didn’t even realize there were more than 2 people. I saw some warnining sign, heard someone going blah blah blah about sin in the general direction of the concert goers. I might have been averting my eyes from these “protesters” whatever it was they were protesting because it hurts my eyes to look at frumpy clothes. They need to dress better to protest effectively.

Wow, I missed the drama. Good thing as it sounds like it wasn’t worth paying any attention to at all.

I just watched Adam’s “Starlight” from tonight. Two things:

    (1) Hate the hair. It makes him look silly. (sorry Adam!)

    (2) He SPED up that song. He sounds like he’s singing twice as fast as before. Was he in a hurry? Hmm … I blame the new (hopefully soon to be old) hair.

I went to San Jose and the concert was awesome. I was going to give a nice, funny recap but my spirits are low because I left the show EARLY, yes, BAD MEEE because I took my 13 year old niece to see the concert and she had no clue about any of the singers. As usual, she LOVED ADAM, she wanted to get his autograph so she asked me to go outside when Kris was performing to wait for the autographs, I did not want to go because I am a Kradison fan but she was excited, her first concert, it was her birthday present, etc, etc. We left after “aint no sunshine”. We got a great spot to wait for our autograph (while I was waiting I was thinking, I did not like that I left because I wanted to see Kris’s entire set and the song at the end). Anyway, we were enjoying talking to other fans who apparently left way before we did, it was NOT a lot of people, maybe 20. All of the sudden, her mom calls me and YELLS at me saying why we are not home, etc, etc. We left on the spot, took her home, came back by myself to see if I could catch Adam and it was too late because he had signed already and was gone. I am very sad and trying not to let it ruin my first AI experience. I was going to give a recap but I am sad not seeing Adam and he was the only reason, I went. YEs, yes, I will hear the crap, he put an awesome show and I LOVE IT but to get his signature and look at him, opportunity missed, sigh, sad, sad, sad.

I did not get to enjoy watching Kris and the song at the end, to add insult to injure, I did not get to meet ADAM in person. THIS SUCKS and very sad, help to put this into perspective.

ETA on Allison. I was there earlier, got there at noon, most idols came out around 2 pm (Michael, Kris, Matt, Anoop, Megan, Danny and Scott) and I got their signatures and pictures. Everyone gracious, Michael is a SWEETHEART and genuine, I did NOT like him before I MET him and HE is very pleasent, humble and honest. He has won me and he is not FAKING IT IMO. (sorry got side tracked), back to Allison, she left after all idols were in the arena in a blue mercedez and we knew she would come back so waited for her. One of the security guards told us, she went in the doctors car when she left, she looked upset when she was in the car (my impression). She came back in a yellow cab and she did NOT look good and she was crouching. She did look pale, SICK. She gave an awesome performance but NOt in the same intensity as I have seen in the youtube videos for the other places. I knew then she was sick, she did awesome anyway, she is an incredible singer.

  • HospRN

WOW! BlazingVoiceOne Thaaaanks for the videos! Best So Far. Adam was off the charts! I know his performances are great but his voice alone is jawdropping unreal everytime I hear it. Love Danny, his music is really touching and he knows how to connect. As for the controversy, from what I’ve seen, it looks like they all are close and I believe they mean what they say. Adam has quoted that he is honest to a fault so I think when he said he and danny were friends and there was and never had been drama between them that he mean’t it.

Also, anyone knows the meaning when Adam sings SR, he gets a bennie hat??? I have noticed again today and puts it on the floor looks like he steps on it to clean the floor and then kicks it before they cross each other with Allison. Does this have any meaning???

well sarver replied to several people following him after tonight with things like

    but then said

“Hey everyone spread the word to everyone to follow me. The more the better. I’m loving this. Lol”

i would like to think that being exposed to adam has opened his mind (if, in fact, it was closed to begin with) but who knows… maybe he is just riding his coattails to get more followers. from all the fan reports he and danny have both been very warm and nice…. maybe being nice and respectful to others means there is a door open in their heart to learn to understand and love differences they might not have even tried to understand before.

Below comments are strictly from the point of view of an average, middle-aged (senior by some people’s definition – still bitter about this classification btw) straight female who is not a long time AI follower but was interested this year only because of one very good looking and stylish fierce alien, who shows penchant for glitter and very high notes. I don’t consider this a proper recap and am just going to post here for your amusement. So, please take with a grain of salt.

Michael (may or may not be a nice guy): Meh.

Megan (has long legs and is blond): Meh and then caw, caw. She should have sung “Material Girl” to suit the dress better. My friend (who only went for moral support) said “she is easy on the eye, but hard on the ear”.

Lil (has wonka-wonka curves and a big voice): No One was ok. Single Ladies was fun. I don’t think I want any of her CDs yet. My friend liked her. I liked how she moved around the stage.

Scott (sucks at jokes and singing but then he is not alone): Still just meh. Forget what he sang despite the fact I saw other people’s reports several times prior to tonite’s concert.

Anoop (have nothing to say): fun but didn’t do anything for me. Crowd seemed to like him.

Matt (the guy with a hat who used to have a growth on his forehead): Pleasant surprise for me. I was screaming (very loudly), and loved all of his solos. Never liked him on the show. He got a wild crowd response. I didn’t see no growth on his forehead. Loved his jazzy outfit and loved him at the piano. I’d go see him if he puts out songs I like.

Group number: Sorry, I had to pee and missed it.

Allison (the cute rocker chick with husky voice): She rocked it. Lots of loud screams and love. Not too many dancers however. Floor people might have gotten up but I didn’t see too much movement from where I was. I wanted to stand up but both my friend and I are tall and we would have blocked the views of 2 rows behind us. :-( My friend really loved “So What” and ” Baracuda”. I liked “Cry Baby” and “Baracuda”. I don’t like her guitar. It makes her look a little like a doll. She should arrange some real lessons with Kris. JMO.

Danny (the awkward dancer who gets A for effort): Wore a cool jacket. That was my friend’s only comment. I think everything else just bypassed my friend’s attention. Lots of scream and waving from the crowd from everywhere, even from my section which was, thankfully, hefty Adam sector with [Adam] signs by teens and all. Surprized but I guess I really shouldn’t be. He did place 3rd. I heard lots oflove from the crowd for all of his pieces including the shpeech (not typo). My friend and I rolled eyes but did not boo. Adam loving teens were quiet during the [short] speech. I liked Maria Maria and would have danced but no one was standing as commented above. My section sucked (in that regard) but frankly, I saw *no* section (at least in lower- and upper levels) where people got up and danced. What’s wrong with San Jose? Nothing wrong with *me* because I was just being considerate of the short people behind me. None whatsoever. Danny’s mike thing didn’t look that bad. We had seats with poor view. I thought he was trying to cross over the mike but was doing it inefficiently rather than humping it. That’s my interpretation and I am sticking to it. He has nice biceps and his dance towards the end of Maria Maria was cute.

Adam (the alien mentioned above wearing a really awesome jacket):
I am probably in the minority here. I actually prefer his emo hair. He still looked hot though from what I could see from my sucky (whine, whine) vantage point. I tried my binocs but they were useless. Anyways, Whole Lotta Love was just WOW WOW WOW. That boy can sing and be heard through thunderstorm and fireworks (well, he actually did in this set). Adam straddled the mike stand and I got wet. Sorry TMI. I loved Starlight but thought the band was a tad too loud for me. Mad World. I always think I am going to tire of it soon, and I found it wasn’t to be tonight. Then Slow Ride. I have to admit I do not like the song. I only enjoyed it because I love watching Adam and Allison interact. But I am not sure if I actually want them together on Adam’s tour. I mean Allison is only 17. Having her on Adam’s tour will bring the freak level down to PG13? I want it VERY ADULT. Then Bowie medley. Again, I thought the band was too loud. But I love the way he changed up the songs. Floved Fame and Let’s Dance. As I complained before no one was getting up within my sight. Trust me I was scanning as best as my “senior” eyes could to see if I could just move over to an area and pretend to belong to that section where people were dancing. Alas, there was none. Maybe I need new contact lenses. So, my seat got a lot of lap dancing. But I was screaming just as hard as the teens around me and their moms and pops and miscellaneous old (well, older) ladies. Unfortunately, I couldn’t really see the famous body rolls that well. My friend was totally impressed with Adam’s WLL. Didn’t like the rest and complained about the band being too loud.

Kris (the cute guy in plaid who plays a few instruments): I had high expectations for his Heartless. I liked his TV performance much better. It was acoustic and there was something really innocent and fresh about it. Tonight the bandzilla seemed to take over, and lost that freshness, at least for me. I frigging loved his All These Things I’ve Done. Not sure if it is because I love the Killers, but I don’t think so. I think Kris can totally sing songs like this in hiw own tour. ANS, I didn’t like it but it was more due to the fact that I don’t care for the song. I x2 frigging loved Bright Lights. He was awesome at the electric guitar, my untraiend ears said. Did I already say I think Kris can totally do this on his own tour? Oh that was for ATTID but make that two. Hey Jude, well, I hate all songs that have “na na na”, but crowd seemed to love it. They gave him a lot of love.

Then the group number. I wish Adam and Kris got bigger parts. One thing that bugged me was: Adam turned around at some point during the group number and there was this shiny thing. Oh, it was his back. I wondered if he flatted a disco ball and stitched it onto his back.

*Note: Everyone got some love from the audience. It pretty much paralleled their placement in the competition except for Adam, I think. I say I think because a) I might be biased b) my ears were actually riniging from so much shrill sound generated from my sector and I am not sure how accurately I could gauge scream decibel levels once Adam was introduced. I briefly considered using my trusty earplugs but chose to grin and bear it because I was one of those people screaming and it would have been utterly hypocritical to inflict my noise onto others and be unwilling to suffer theirs. See? I am sort of fair.

*Note2: Lots of screams whenver Adam’s face showed on the screens. I partook heartily.

*Note3: I think we should let gay haters secede or kick them out. It is embarassing to have them around in my neck of woods.

That’s all I have to say. Good night!

LOL. I’m not taking what Sarver is tweeting very seriously, myself.

Well thank God someone said it, making my way through this thread this morning thinking I don’t believe this crap for one second – you think he had a change of heart over night?? He’s telling you what you want to hear’ ¦he has figured out how to play the game – jumping on Adam’s coat tails’ ¦.

I agree – he knows Adam love will get him love.

Also Adam’s San Jose Starlight is the best so far.

    but then said

I loooove this version. I think it’s his best yet. I’ve always thought Adam’s Starlight needed work, it seems he finally got it right. Yay! runs to download mp3.

Sunn, I’m curious, what has changed to make it work for you now? ITA this is his best version yet (he and Allison and Kris seem to get better with each concert), but I personally loved it from the beginning, so what clicked this time that didn’t before for you?

Several things really. but first I should preface this by saying that I’m a HUGE Muse fan, so MMMV.

So, the first thing that struck me about Adam’s earlier Starlights is that he over dramatized a song that was high in the drama quotient to begin with.

Second, he slowed it down to turn it into a ballad which ended up sucking the life out of glorious song for me.

Finally, his transitions into the high falsetto notes sounded awkward and choppy, even a little off pitch at certain points of the ascent.

I think these things bothered me because I’m not used to Adam performing a song at somewhat beneath his usual stellar level. I even tweeted him after Vancouver and told him that for Starlight to be truly good, it needs a bit of work.

I’m glad he tweaked it tonight. Now I can put dam’s version of the song on my Ipod, and rate it as 5 stars.

    Thanks for recap GlamGirlLee!

  • agathe.hb

MJ, I agree with you about Scott, I thought it was Danny or Sarver, but then after LKL interview, Adam and Kris’ body language was very telling whenever Scott was speaking…..

GlamGirlLee my darling pensioner :wink_ee: Your recap was all WIN!!!

So funny. It was so funny, I laughed outloud like a demented hyaena. Oh, and thank you for the shock of my morning; I never thought I’d ever read a TMI statement like the one you posted on mj’s, I’m happy I was wrong. LOL!!

I love you GlamGirlLee, you’re a woman after my own heart. More power to you.

  • aa618892

Sunn- I agree with you about Starlight. I did love it before because it was just so beautiful but I think he gave it more of a rock feel this time and toned down the drama.
Also I am loving the hair off his face like that. Adam has truly beautiful features. His facial structure is lovely especially that jaw line. AAARGH!
The new videos from Oakland are superb so thank you mj for posting.
Wow! Adam has a really nice ass!

Gerien, thanks for the youtube links. My wishes for more Kris vids have been fulfilled. :-)

Wow! Kris really rocked All These Things That I’ve Done last night. It isn’t that it wasn’t good before, it is just that it was ON FIRE last last. It sure didn’t take long to get that one up to speed. No one would ever know that it wasn’t rehearsed for a month, with the rest of the show.

  • http://www.twilightslo.com Mateja

Videos of Adam’s set are just killing me. Every day!

And I must say, it’s no surprise that Adam and Allison got record deals.

The others sometimes sound very good and sometimes they suck.

  • lizardino

Those last video links posted by StarryNites01 on youtube are really good quality and have great sound as well (except for the usual fangirl screaming). Thanks for posting those!

You know, I haven’t liked the Elvis hair on Adam very much when he’s worn it before, but it really works on stage with this outfit. He really does look like an otherworldly alien in some of the pictures. Yum!

About Sarver – I can’t really tell if he’s nice or not. He seems to be. I don’t know him.

I’m certain that he wants more twitter followers; all these guys went on the show to become famous so that makes sense. I’m also sure some of his twitters are PR.

That said, I can’t judge the guy since I’ve never met him. I won’t base my opinions of him on what I think are two comments he made. The infamous “Godly way”, and the reported comment about being gay in his hometown. He IS from a town with a history of gay bashing, and in fact gay killing, so how do we know that his comment about “being straight of dead” or whatever it was (I don’t recall) wasn’t referring to the history of his town, not to his opinion? As far as the “Godly way” comment, it certainly was a bad choice of words but it’s just two words, not enough to base my opinion of the guys overall character on.

Adam doesn’t seem to have a problem with him. So why should I?

  • http://myidol.americanidol.com/kiss-and-tell Joy

Well, I for one am really pissed off at Sarver. He was clearly just saying those things to get some more fans and it actually worked! I mean come on!! The stuff he said was soooooo cheesy! He was milking this for ALL it’s worth. Saying all these things about how he’s got Adam’s back and nobody will mess with him, and Adam’s fine he won’t let this get to him when the protests weren’t even about ADAM!! They were about the show!!

One banner said something like “American Idol IS EVIL Kris Allen Not Welcome In California”. Yes poor Adam indeed. Good thing Sarver’s “got his back”. haha And the way he talked about this made it seem like there was a full on anti-gay protest going around. Instead there were 5 people dressed in freaky clothes (that woman’s dress is the real SIN imo!) telling people not to go to the AI concert because the show is the devil and they will go to hell!!

Pffffffffffff I can’t believe I almost cried when I read the “update” in the top of the post. I catually thought people were hating on homosexuals. I didn’t realize it was THESE people.

The Phelps family is not only anti-gay, but anti-sematic, anti-catholic (the guy actually said “deal with it, the pope is in hell!”), anti-SWEDISH, anti-IRISH, … They are anti-everything. They just made up their own cult and followed it!!

Kradamour PLEASE don’t let these people affect you or your son. They have no idea what they are saying and such crazy fanatics ARE a minority in the US. Every society has them. They are here to entertain us. If I see these people on the street, I only want to laugh at them and so do most people. If anyone is going to hell it would be them because God does not want anyone to spread hate in the world. If “accepting” gays is a sin (I don’t think there’s anything to accept. We are all human beings. We are all equal) then I’m a sinner and I don’t even care.
I’m sorry this comment came late but there is a huge time difference between us :P

That’s it for my “little” rant! I almost forgot this was my first post here. Should I have made it nicer? :P Probably but I just hate fanatics!

  • Vada

Ok, I am now totally confused. Was this failed protest rally aimed at Adam for being gay, or at Kris for daring to win a reality tv show?

Either way, it seems to have been blown completely out of proportion to the tiny number of disturbed individuals doing the protesting.

  • https://twitter.com/draddee Sunn

Speaking of Twitter follower numbers, I can’t believe Adam has been stuck at 99677 followers since yesterday. We need to get that boy up to a 100000.

Silly I know, but it’s something to think about till you state side guys wake up. mj’s is so quiet at the moment.

  • Kirsten

Instead there were 5 people dressed in freaky clothes (that woman’s dress is the real SIN imo!) telling people not to go to the AI concert because the show is the devil and they will go to hell!!

I can’t fault Sarver for thinking they were anti-Adam protesters. If you read this thread from the start, you will see that lots of people thought they were anti-Adam protesters. People here and elsewhere were actually quite upset at what Adam and his parents were having to face. For the longest time, Kris wasn’t even mentioned as the target for the protest.

Just how would Sarver know the details? It was like two protesters so that means they weren’t covering all the entrances. I imagine that the performers never saw them. Sarver performs first so he even has the least opportunity to check out the protesters than any other Idol. So how did he find out? The same way we all did. I imagine that people were twitting him with questions/comments or maybe he surfed over to one of the AI dedicated sites. I think Sarver was the victim of misinformation just as we all were. The twitter telephone game strikes again.

So, just as I will not condemn anybody here for heartfelt responses to what appeared from initial reports to be an anti-Adam protest, I am even less likely to condemn Sarver. In fact, I think that he is to be lauded.

I think most people are generally not malicious. He may have had his head-turned by all the love he got last night, but I’m sure his initial intent was just to show support. These guys actually know each other. To him, Adam isn’t some glittering alien rock god on a stage or grainy youtube videos, he’s an actual person who he has lived with. A person who is now part of his tribe/family.

I don’t think everything is riding of coat-tails. I don’t think everything is calculated. Sometimes, I think people just react as humans.

Read through some of these after seeing Michael’s tweets…he really can’t do anything good to some, can he? Haha. I think he sounded genuine, I’m sure the part about “loving this” had to do with the fact that he enjoys being able to directly talk to his fans. He’s never acted like he’s riding on Adam’s coattails…maybe he is just a nice, simple guy.

Great review, Glamgirllee (wow! It is just too hard catching up with everything here, but I am doing my best :-) )

I like the new Adam look, but then on the show I always loved both the Elvis look and the emo look, so it’s all good (MW hair was probably my least fav).

That sucks about the protesters – they better not come near my show, because I feel that would just ruin the mood, though simply ignoring them and walking through sounds like the thing to do.

I hope Allison is feeling better :-( I would be seriously bummed if I missed her on tour for any reason. Her, Adam, and Kris represent roughly 95% of my interest in this concert in the first place – and it sounds like the three of them really deliver.

Michael could have said it was nothing, just a few imbecils with nothing else to do, instead trying to be protector of Idol land. But whatever he got a bunch more followers he didn’t have before and if he continues to tweet about the performance like that he just may get some more.
But it’s going to suck if all these people drop him after the tour is over.

  • mahrikka

I was so sad and heartbroken last night reading about the protesters and Kradamour and her son’s reaction that I couldn’t even post and had to take a break. I’m so happy to learn it truly was just a few. Ignoring them is the best.

GlamGirlLee, your recap made my morning! That and some of the videos I’ve seen this a.m. Wow! I love both Emo and Elvis hair. I have to leave the beautiful glittery world and go back to work today but will definitely be thinking about that recap. LOL!

ETA to add…San Jose = Adam’s best Starlight. It’s getting better and better. I love it! All of his songs are getting better and better. Amazing!

Just read about Ali. I noticed the strain during the Pink song in Sacramento. It’s a good thing she gets a little break to rest those magnificent vocal chords.

  • Mary102

It would be interesting to find out after the tour when (and if ) they speak more freely, who actually gets along with whom, aside from the obvious Kradison and Matt/Danny and Matt/Anoop bonds.

I have a feeling Adam will spill all once the tour is over – you know the press would be asking him questions like that, and his “unfiltered” style will probably spill the deets at the drop of a hat :-) Then we can finally end the speculation.

I for one have no idea re Scott and Michael. In general, all the AI folks have tended to be pretty close, and this year doesn’t seem too different. However, I can definitely see the potential for more difficult relationships this year because of some very strong personalities in the group. But, without proof, I’m not willing to make any guesses.

I agree Kirsten. Plus, I read that some people started asking Michael about it because he is one of the idols most likely to actually answer people’s twitter questions. He probably just assumed that what people were saying was true and was basically saying that he had Adam’s back. No need to assume the worst about people.

I don’t think anything bad about the wanting to gain more followers comment. If he was really being underhanded, would he mention it? To me, it actually makes him seem more genuine.

I’m just gonna make one comment and depart from this conversation (maybe burnt out–too many posts?). But I was on Twitter during Sarver’s two tweets while the Twitter world was freaking out (well, the 20 people I was tweeting with were). He seemed very sincere, and I appreciate him tweeting at all. Maybe he didn’t know why they were there. Maybe he did, but I cannot believe (perhaps I am ignorant and mis-informed) that he tweeted solely to ride Adam’s coat tails. I have been waaaayy too judgmental of the Idols, none of whom I know or will ever know. I just want to enjoy them sing. That was the point of the Tour in the first place, right?

Good on Adam for his popularity (good on him and no surprise ;-)), I hate Elvis hair (bring back Emo!hair), and hope Allison feels better today. The Tour is going to take its toll on all the Idols. Maybe they will be able to pace themselves as it continues.

    Later.

  • BeckyMD

@twinkle, thanks for the video. awesome.

I like the sped-up starlight. The ballad version has too many twists and theatrical flavor.

I love the Elvis look to. Adam has beautiful feature. The Elvis hair lets you see his face and expression even in video taken far away. Here is a close up look after the show.

I don’t it’s because I watched too many times or Adam is getting better and better, his choreography looks more natural to me in San Jose’s show.

  • jpfan

edit: stick to expressing your opinion on the subject rather than judging fellow posters.

  • hwc

Starlight didn’t sound like a faster tempo to me. I’m pretty sure that that band is using a click track to set the tempo for each song during the show.

  • https://twitter.com/draddee Sunn

On the Elvis hair; I’m not a fan. I prefer his hair longer in general My favourite is the hair h had at the very start of AI. When I caught a sight of hi that first time I went “Whow! That is one hot gay guy!!” Lol!

As for Sarver, I really don’t have an opinion, I don’t like to speculate as to the motives of people I know nothing about. I can only say that I’m really not very fond of him, but that’s no surprise, I’m not fond of any of the idols apart from the top 2 and Allison.

it did sound slightly faster paced to me. The falsettos are not so drawn out. But I could be wrong, it could just be the way he’s singing it.

  • Truthiness

Well I’m not going to get angry at Sarver, I’m just not going to believe that two weeks with Adam on the road changed his belief system and possibly/probably his religious views. Which being religious can be fine well and good re; homosexuality, clearly Kris shows us that one can be religious and tolerant. But than Kris has always seemed to be that way during the course of the show. So his Tweeting his support, would be believable to me. But than Kris doesn’t need to Tweet that, because he’s always walked the walk, and talked the talk with Adam.

So yeah, Michael is Tweeting the talk, but Tweet is cheap.

Not that it really matters. The tour will end and Adam probably won’t have to see or deal with Sarver again. So if he was one of the people that made Adam uncomfortable, or if it was Gokey or Scott, eh, it’ll be over. As to whether Adam says something about it after the tour, that’s his choice and I won’t hold it against him or think that he’s unleashing his fanbase if he does. Because for me it’s not just about Adam individually, it’s that if one or more of those people made him feel uncomfortable due to his being gay, I want to know. Because I don’t find that kind of behaviour acceptable and it’s a personal thing, but I don’t want to support those types of people finanically. Though granted, it’s not probable I’d ever buy anything from Scott, Gokey or Sarver, but still.

On to more important things, did like Adam’s version of Starlight. But than I love his other versions as well. Don’t like the upswept look of his hair for the performances, doesn’t go with his jacket and makes him look older and his face rounder. That being said, it does still look good in some up close pictures, so there is that. So yeah, still want Emo!Hair Adam back and I insist he continues to grow it out. I am actually worried that while in LA he’ll cut it. I hope he’ll just stick to having more blue/some green put back in. He doesn’t have enough in it right now. And it’s not that I’m obsessed with his hair, it’s just that I can be very shallow and selfish. So I want more pictures of him in the hair I like.

Just to give you folks a heads-up, I will be protesting outside some of the AI concert venues this year. I’m not sure which ones, haven’t worked out all the logistics yet. You will recognize me because my signs will read “Twitter is the devil.” Please wave to me.

This may not be the place for this question, but it’s being discussed so I’ll put it here. MJ, feel free to delete or move as you see fit :-) .

People all seem to be assuming that the person that Adam doesn’t get along with/like is either Danny, Sarver or Scott. I guess it’s because it seems that their belief systems are far removed from Adam’s. What will happen if it’s none of them? What if it’s Matt? He didn’t want to be Adam’s messenger if I recall. Sometimes big personalities clash. What if it’s Anoop? He seems like a pretty laid back guy, maybe he doesn’t like the showmanship? I’m not saying either of these situations is fact, I’m just wondering if there would be the same backlash against them as their would be for the other three.

  • Renina

Whew!! I am so glad that I was too busy to be online last night! Sounds like you guys took it easy and had a lot of fun (sarcasm). I won’t comment on the whole protest thing because I don’t think it was really that big a deal, Sarver is still Sarver to me (I am one who just finds it too hard to find real sincerity in his tweets) Allison is a sweetheart and anyone who can protest that girl seriously needs real help, Kris’ new song to replace that travesty of a song NOBO is sounding really awesome (I love this move for kris, it adds a little something and helps to make his set less boring for me), Adam is Adam and hope he doesn’t come out after the tour stating who he had problems with because just seeing what happened to Matt over something so stupid really makes me fear for who ever Adam states as being the person he couldn’t get along with (too much power for one person if you ask me) Anything else…Oh yeah, LOVE the Matt/Anoop, Matt/Danny, Matt/Allison, and Kris/Adam/Allison friendships, those are the ones that I really think will stick after tour ends. Now on to important things….

“Matt (the guy with a hat who used to have a growth on his forehead): Pleasant surprise for me. I was screaming (very loudly), and loved all of his solos. Never liked him on the show. He got a wild crowd response. I didn’t see no growth on his forehead. Loved his jazzy outfit and loved him at the piano. I’d go see him if he puts out songs I like.”

Woot Woot!! More good reviews for Matty G!! :clap_tb: He is getting better and better with every show…

  • Truthiness

LaurelG I agree, Twitter is the devil. And yet I’ll join you in being contradictory, there are Tweets from Sarver and Allison saying she’s okay now. But yeah, nothing beyond that.

How did they handle voice problems in previous tours? I know that some people had them and heard some vague things about cortisone shots? I don’t know because I didn’t pay a lot of attention to previous tours.

    Regarding Allison’s heallth;

    Allison herself tweeted:

Thank you San Jose for being so awesome and supportive .. I’m feeling bettaaaaaaaaaa ;)
about 7 hours ago from TwitterFon

    So I guess she’s fine.

  • kijico3

    @Beckymd:

Thank you for the link to the vid…Yes Adam is looking waaay hot in the rehearsal footage. I just flove him!!! I love to hear him speak, he is so articulate, and just a beautiful man :wub_tb: I can hardly contain myself cos I get to see him on Thursday WOOOOTTTT!!!!

  • Ellie2

There’s a video in which Adam discusses the American Idol Tour where he’s looking way hot in rehearsal:

    Dayum…..

  • BeckyMD

@kijico3, xuziqueue post the vid here. I posted the same one on the headlines thread too.

  • Mary102

I love the Elvis look to. Adam has beautiful feature. The Elvis hair lets you see his face and expression even in video taken far away. Here is a close up look after the show.

I swear this guy puts on make-up better than me ;-) Not that that’s saying much in my case!

And I will join the “anti-twitter protesters”, even though I joined just to be able to follow some of these guys. But I guess you get the good with the bad when EVERYTHING is suddenly out there in short bursts of spontaneous thought.

Haven’t heard the new Starlight yet, but I loved his original version of it on the tour. I could see a sped up version working well too, though.

  • Mary102

Great vid of Adam from rehearsals! I can’t even listen to the sound from work, but just watching him for 3:30 is enough to keep my attention!

He looks incredibly skinny in those shots too – he definitely has to ignore any of the people who say otherwise out there about the tour vids.

  • Niall

Sarver was mostly reacting to the overreaction on Twitter. He might well have thought the protest was larger or more specific to Adam and Allison at the time he posted. Regardless, he seemed sincere and it is unfortunate if people decide to filter everything he says and does through the “he’s sucking up to Adam/Adam’s fans” lens, the same way poor Matt’s response over the letter got filtered through the “he’s JELLIS!!!1111″ lense. Adam isn’t the center of the universe for most of these other AIers so I tend to think they are just given an honest, in the moment reaction.

The knock on Sarver was the “godly” comment (an obvious foot in mouth moment) and Neil Lambert relating the “from where I’m from…” comment. I always took what Sarver said about Jasper to just be a factual relating of what his town is like towards homosexuals, not a threat or hostile statement. Neil’s a bit too high strung and too much of a drama queen for me to hold Sarver’s comment against him without knowing the context. I personally don’t care if Sarver deep down thinks homosexuality is a sin. It is his right to feel that way. As long as his outward behavior is polite and respectful, and he’s not using his free time to protest the right of gay people to exist, that’s tolerant enough for me.

Twitter isn’t the devil. The problem is people believing every random, overblown, breathless tweet is the gods honest truth. People tend to exaggerate or get overly dramatic in 140 characters or less, especially in this day and age of “everybody gets their 15 minutes of fame.”

  • butte009

I’m in the minority but I agree with the following…

Yap, although Michael seems to be a nice guy, I won’t fall easily into his tweets. I don’t know. There’s something in him that I don’t feel right. We’ll see’ ¦I hope though that I am wrong.

…making my way through this thread this morning thinking I don’t believe this crap for one second – you think he had a change of heart over night?? He’s telling you what you want to hear’ ¦he has figured out how to play the game – jumping on Adam’s coat tails’ ¦.

    and

My son thinks he looks like Jimmy Neutron when he has his hair like that.

I hate the Elvis hair myself…

Jersey, Adam put Matt as his friend along with Allison and Kris and Lil and during one interview he said that he loved Anoop
but as somebody has written here, Scott is the only person Adam does not follow on Twitter, that says something… IMO

  • webster

Starlight didn’t sound like a faster tempo to me. I’m pretty sure that that band is using a click track to set the tempo for each song during the show

Right, same tempo. I tested, just because it’s fun: I’ve got an app that lets me tap and it tells me what the tempo is, and it’s the same for both SJ and Oakland (not checking them all).

But… I assume if they (Adam and bandleader) decided in advance that they wanted to change the tempo a bit, they can just reset the click track, right? (all this stuff about how they put it together is interesting)

  • webster

I KNOW! If Adam can manage to look bad in those sunglasses, well, we’re all doomed. What is up with those?

Not that this matters in any known universe, but I have to just add one small voice giving props to the sunglasses. They’re different, but cool.

Adam hit 100,000 at 5:41:45 pm est 7/12/09.
    I took a picture!!

    Very cool, GO ADAM!

The drawing is awesome. He must have loved receiving that.

ETA: Do we know which Idol alumni has the most followers? I don’t follower very many of them, but I do know David A has a lot.

Jordin Sparks is leading the pack…

    Jordin Sparks ‘” 193,785
    David Archuleta ‘” 134,385
    Adam Lambert ‘” 101,243
    Danny Gokey ‘” 81,423

I made a more comprehensive list and posted it on the headlines thread.

  • Mom in the Suburbs

I hope your daughter gets a chance for a pic with Adam too. Adam is her fave, but she also loves Anooooop, Allison and get this, Megan, lol. She wants to paint her nails black for the concert–well, I suppose just for one day it couldn’t hurt. And I’ll have to take my black nail polish off before school starts, too, I guess….

  • http://myidol.americanidol.com/kiss-and-tell Joy

Hmm ok maybe I was quick to jump to conclusions about Sarver. He might have changed. I mean Adam is so cute he could change anyone I guess…

The protest just confused everyone, I think. The tweets were exagerating and each statement was contradicting the other.

    So changing the subject now!!

I LOVED Adam’s new version of Starlight!! It’s the best to date. I agree with earlier posts that it wasn’t perfect before… the pitch was wrong and it was a little too theatrical.

  • cookcricket

mj, THANK YOU for posting the HQ vids! So far I’ve watched Kris’s set from beginning to end, so amazing! Since it’s looking more and more like we’re not going to make it to the concert, it was great to watch these!

Silly little thing I noticed, lol, the DSB number works out perfectly with the limited # of girls since Matt and Scott appear together and Kris and Adam do too. This leaves the rest evenly numbered to appear guy/girl.

I wouldn’t read any specifics into the protesters that were there last night. They are there at EVERY concert that I have ever been at in SJ. I even saw them there at a Disney on Ice show.

  • xuziqueue

Genevieve – Yowser! Adam is buff and in fine tour form! Thanks for sharing that!

  • BestAI

This is my take on Adam’s WLL. The production is probably letting Adam be Adam, however, to be a little more family friendly, that number seems to be darker than most. Also, since everybody stands for his entire set, depending where you sit, most people can’t even see him from waist down. Danny straddles his mic stand, and I don’t hear anyone complaining. Of course, Adam is just plain sexy, just keeping still.

  • Q3

San Jose is my favorite Starlight so far. Adam changed the vocals but I think they also changed the percussion. Could just be the sound mix is making it sound brighter and more prominent.

I’m hoping someone posts a really great video of this, it’s my favorite song of the whole concert.

  • aa618892

    but then said

    I snort!Heh!

    Haha.

I guess Sarver has figured out that things will go a lot better for him if he is respectful to Adam at least in public. I hope this filters into his behind the scenes behavior as well. I’m not necessarily buying that he’s gone through some kind of huge change in beliefs in a few weeks.

  • girlygirl

I don’t know how much it matters how many followers anyone has on witter, but since someone asked for the numbers of the AI people, I went on there to look i up. Please note that I may have missed somebody (or several somebodies) as I’m not sure whoall actually is on twitter. I know that David Cook does NOT have a twitter account, nor does Carrie Underwood or Kelly Clarkson or Clay Aiken or Fantasia (although there are fake twitter accounts out there)

    Ok:

    Jordin Sparks 193,867
    David Archuletta 134,414
    Adam Lambert 101,281
    Danny Gokey 81,444
Jennifer Hudson 57,189 (not sure if this is a real or fake account)
    Kris Allen 55,042
    Chris Daughtry 52,280
    Matt Giraud 38,545
    Anoop Desai 37,297
    Allison Iraheta 24,565
    Brooke White 16,917
    Scott MacIntyre 16,040
    Blake Lewis 15,892
    Jason Castro 14,098
    Michael Sarver 11,843
    Michael Johns 6,310
Taylor Hicks 3,228 (not sure if this is real or fake)
Ruben Studdard 1,571 (not sure if this is real or fake)

None of these people are even close to the most popular people on twitter. Ashton Kucher, for example, has more than 2 million followers, while Shaquille O’Neal has over 1 million…

I think that it is reasonable to believe that Michael believes that only God has the right to judge people. And also believe homosexuality is a sin. But the church he belongs to preaches acceptance:

“You will find love, acceptance, and forgiveness at Harvest Church. Our message to all is one of healing, restoration, and hope.”

There’s not a lot of information about Michael Sarver out there. But it is clear that he did not regularly attend church until he got married in 2004. Prior to that, he seems to have moved around a lot and there are a lot of references to his being rebelous.

But Sarver wasn’t always a church-going man, the pastor said. It was time and personal life experiences that shaped the Louisiana native into a church leader.

Born in March 1981, Sarver had a rough life growing up in Louisiana, Marshall said. As soon as he could support himself, young Sarver struck out to live the life of a gypsy, pursuing various jobs in the Fort Necessity and Extension areas of Louisiana, as well as Sulphur and Sikes.

He eventually made his way over to Texas, where he married Southeast Texas native Tiffany Smith in Jasper on June 16, 2004.

She introduced him to a religious family that embraced the young couple with open arms and encouraged church attendance, Marshall said.

Church life was a switch for Sarver.

“We first saw him on the stage at the Jasper High School football field, a 20-year-old, singing the national anthem in 2001 in an all-black leather suit. He went through what most young people go through, a normal rebellion. But we saw then that he had a gift. He has soul, and he found a way to express that in the church,” Marshall said.

Sarver abandoned his “bad boy” past and eventually became the lead vocalist for the church in 2003 after working briefly at Abundant Life Christian Center in LaMarque and Victory Christian Center in Houston.

there were 2 set of protesters…
the crazies about 3 people with a bullhorn…we lined up on the other side because they are annoying…they were there for the nkotb concert last year with a sign saying something like “you’re worshipping false idols”. i wanted to take a picture with them and their insane sign…

and the much larger protest was across the street…at &t workers fighting for a fair contract basically…

  • Tara

    “Genevieve

That is so insensitive of Adam. He knows we can’t get our work done, can’t merge back into society.

  • BestAI

I’m not going to critique anyone except for Adam, because IMO, he easily stands out from the rest in every aspect. Now I see why he gets the reviews that he does, even from people who don’t like his style.

First of all, Adam got the biggest reception from the moment has face was on the screens. When Danny was finished, you could feel the electricity in the arena, anticipating Adam. When he appeared, the place went wild. I was surprised how many teens and twenties who were there were screaming and crying. In any case, when he started singing/performing WLL, my first thought was, dayam, how sexy can one man be. Gorgeous and sexy. He looked tall, slim, and very much like Elvis.

Now I see why the judges were OTT with praises for Adam. His vocals were amazing, from his lower register to his falsetto. His transitions from low to high are seamless and effortless. As if his vocals weren’t enough, his stage presence was electrifying. Even when he sang Starlight and Mad World (people were singing along), he was captivating. In his Bowie medley, he went from beautiful lower register, to a very sexy dance moves (he also has very natural dance moves), to a very catchy ending number. I believe Adam said some of his songs on his CD were going to be like “Let’s Dance”.

Adam looked like he was born to perform. He takes you somewhere you’ve never been. I’m still reeling from him. Everything about him translated to superstar. Seeing him up close, you felt like you were experiencing someone very special. Wow! Did I say he was gorgeous and sexy?

  • Tess

Sarver abandoned his ‘bad boy’ past

I always wonder what this means when said or written by a “church” pastor. Is he referring to normal teenage high jinks where religion wasn’t part of the mix or was Michael an out and out criminal who didn’t know the difference between right and wrong. Going to church and embracing it isn’t a sign of a “good” boy…IMHO. Who Michael chooses to be outside of his performance life is his business and his business alone. I just don’t want to be told to “like him” based on his current lifestyle….I think I probably would have liked “bad boy” Sarver a bit better. I’m such a blasted rebel. Me bad!

Thank you so much for posting the HQ videos, I loved Kris’s set, the vids made feel like in the concert right there so close, and that’s the closest its gets for this south american fan, until Kris’s World Tour of course…

  • BestAI

I’ll do my best to critique everyone else w/o offending other fans. First of all, the top four got the best reception, starting with Allison. From where I was sitting, she seemed to get the second loudest with Kris next, then Danny.

Sarver: Better than I expected, but nothing special. Polite response when done.

Megan: Beautiful girl, wonderful figure. Vocals? Straining, and didn’t sound all that good. Polite response.

Scott: Strong vocals, not necessarily that great, but better than I expected. Good on piano. Skip the monologue, not funny. Polite response.

Lil: Strong vocals, better than TV. She has potential, with some coaching. Polite response.

Anoop: Actually surprised how good his vocals are, sounding very smooth. Needs better stage presence. What’s with those stupid glasses. People were yelling Noooooop. Some thought he was getting booed. Response getting better.

Matt: Good stage presence, good on piano. His voice didn’t sound that good to me. Sounded like he was straining. His falsetto better, tho. People were getting more energized.

Allison: That’s when the place started to get really energized. I was so impressed with her vocals and stage presence. It looks like she’s been doing this for ten years. I can see why Adam is in awe of her. Huge crowd response.

Danny: Good, strong vocals. Some bad notes, but not as much as TV. Good salsa dancer. Some people were touched by his speech (I heard he made some people cry), many not. Sounded like he was in church, seriously. Gets really sweaty. Lots of people screaming, but not as loud after Allison.

    Adam: see above.

Kris: Good audience reaction to Kris. He sounded pretty good but as many people have said, Adam is a hard act to follow. I’m not just talking about Adam’s performance, but particularly vocals. I love Kris as a person, but his vocals aren’t that outstanding to me. He is cute as a bug, looked teeny on the stage.

Kris has really good interaction with Adam at the end. They seemed to have mutual respect for each other. I actually saw some interaction with Adam and Danny too.

  • kijico3

@BestAI…OMG, now I am salivating in anticipation of Thursday in LA, I literally cannot get anything done, cannot tear myself away from my computer screen and wiping up the drool on the keyboard from the amazing vids……DAY-UM did I say I was seeing ADAM ON THURSDAY???!!!!!!!

Danny straddles his mic stand, and I don’t hear anyone complaining. Of course, Adam is just plain sexy, just keeping still.

Ga, get that image out of my head… :eek_wp:

I know! I’ll just go back again and stare at the buff and beautiful Adam pic someone recently posted.

    There. All better now.

  • AC

BestAI- Hi! Where were you sitting? I’m thinking where we sat probably does make a difference in what we see/hear? =) To me (and trying to take all biases out), Adam got the most reception followed by Kris, Danny, and then Allison. The San Jose crowd was definitely better than Oakland because everyone seemed to get a lot more love in San Jose.

  • Tess

So…I wonder if the idols are flying to Salt Lake, today and spending several nights in the land of Zion, or are they getting to spend an extra day in San Francisco? Bet they spend Wed, Thurs, Fri, Sat, and Sunday in LA and just commute to the Southern Calif. venues.

Having lived in Salt Lake and vacationed in San Fran I’d opt to stay in San Fran for an extra night….

Anoop: Actually surprised how good his vocals are, sounding very smooth. Needs better stage presence. What’s with those stupid glasses. People were yelling Noooooop. Some thought he was getting booed. Response getting better.

LOL! That seems to be the unfortunate consequence of Anoop’s trademark nickname: people keep thinking he’s getting boo’ed – yikes!

Reading your summary by performer, BestAI, it seems that not only the strength of the performances/vocals, but the audience reception pretty much matches how the voting went down (with the exception of the top 4, where I’d switch the ranking to be 1. Adam, 2. Kris, 3. Allison 4. Danny – but of course jmo ;-) )

Otherwise, this follows how bland and predictable the eliminations tended to be this year, with very few surprise elims. What that means is that the audience actually got it pretty right!

Does anyone else find it amusing that much of last night’s and this afternoon’s discussion has been a dissection of the feelings and actions of someone we may never hear from again once the Idol tour is over?

We know very little of Sarver, since he was barely on the show, and didn’t make that much impact when he was. Sure, there are some throwaway comments that came across negatively, but everyone puts their foot in their mouths sometimes. And sometimes we all say things without realizing what it sounds like to other people. I know that I certainly wouldn’t want to be judged based on just a couple of things that I may have said when goofing around with my friends or which may sound bad if taken out of context.

Sarver may be an ass, but none of us knows enough about him to determine that for ourselves. The other Idols don’t seem to have issue with him, so he can’t be that bad, can he? Not a fan, but I feel bad for the guy.

According to Matt’s twitter, they left around 1pm Pacific time. Wonder where they are stopping tonight? I’m sure one of the twitter guys will let us know!

    http://twitter.com/mgiraudofficial

Where would be a good place to hang out tonight if you were driving to Utah? Or would you drive the whole time straight to Utah and hang out an extra day in Utah? Would Adam be able to stand it there in Utah????? No vodka?

Plus I thought it was weird for them to be in the Bay Area, then drive to Utah, then be back in LA on Thursday.

Maybe Adam & Kris are flying to LA for studio work, then flying to Utah. I would definitely try to negotiate that deal. Kradam together!

I just hope they at least get to stay downtown and not out by the E Center. Don’t want the Idols to get a bad vibe about Salt Lake.

There are some nice hotels in downtown Salt Lake and some great restaurants. And aside from popular belief Adam can get his “vodka” if he wants it. Utah liquor laws: If a restaurant has a liquor license (and most good places have one) you can order a drink at your table or at the bar as long as you order food. If you just want to drink (no food) you can go to a private club and buy a temporary membership for about 5 bucks.

Here is my recap from yesterdays concert waiting outside for the idols to arrive to get a pic and an autograph. I was there from 12-5pm when this happened. I went there with my 13 year old niece for her birthday present but the present was for me LOL. I was SUPER excited because I am an ADAM fan. My niece, had no clue of ANY of the singers, had not heard any of them sing and ocasionally watched AI. She was a trooper and was in to be with her CRAZY aunt, who is 38 and acts like a 15 year old in respect to Adam. We got there around noon, took food, plenty of water, place to sit, fruit, my RS magazine and my binoculars!

    12:00 pm

We got to the HP Pavillion and there was a small crowd outside the back entrance of the buses. We waited and around 1:15 PM buses started to arrive, there were 3 buses. The first one looked empty, the second one, we saw Matt inside the bus and the third one we saw Megan talking to someone in the front seat as they were pulling inside the gate. We were all screaming and the gates were closed when the buses went in. I went to the gate to get a glimpse of them and I felt like at the Mervyn’s commercial where my face was plastered against the rails and I was OPEN, OPEN, OPEN. Previously, I thought I could run in when the buses were going in because there was only one security guy and if I did, all the fans would follow but I remembered, I am with my niece and I have to act somewhat responsible and adult like.

They started to walk to the entrance of the Pavillion and they were far away from us and, Michael, Matt, Anoop, Megan, Kris, Danny, Allison, Scott, Adam and I never saw Lil. Anyway, so excited to see them close, they all turned around and WAVED. Megan was funny, Allison too and Adam was HOT and loved his hair. I was super excited and my niece wanted to go to the car because she wore all black and she was hot and wanted to put make up on her face for Adam’s support. The INSANE fan of me, was NO (let’s stay here forever) because what if they come out to sign and take pictures and we miss them but I realized they just got there so it would be a while for them to come out to see their fans.

We got back, the parking lot was not far away from the back entrance around 2:00 pm. I asked immediately if anyone came out, was relief no one did. I was so HAPPY to meet Kradison fans who were obsessed, crazy as me or I felt I was the attention getter because I knew so much about Adam. I told everyone to check out MJ’s blog who some of them had heard of but I HIGHLY recomended it because it has helped me with my Adamatis. I did inform them to be fair that there is information about all idols at the blog.

Anyway, all of the sudden heard screams, gates open and here comes Michael wearing a boot on his right leg, I believe. He was nice, charming, cute and very humble. He talked to everybody, signed my RS magazine and he wrote “I LOVE ADAM”. I took a picture with him and my niece. I was surprised that I do like him now because I did not like him before due to the “godly” comments. He seems genuine and friendly. I am stilll on the fence if he is being sincere or learning that people (Adam’s fans) don’t like him due to those comments and he is doing damage control.

Michael was still signing autographs, there were 20 fans or less so it was not a big group. All of the sudden, more screams, Kris, Matt, Anoop and Megan walked towards us and gates open. I took pictures with Kris and Megan. Anoop was too busy and Matt the same. I got signatures from both but not a hardcore fan to get my picture with them because if I was persistant and asked they would have taken one with me and my niece. Kris is SOOOOO CUTE and fragile. He is so TINY, like a little kid, I put my arms around him and I felt he was going to break. He is so HUMBLE, hot and I told him. “I love Adam but you are HOT”. He laughed and said he would tell him that. Megan is gorgeous and so nice, love to see her tattoos in person and the ones on her feet too. They had to go (Megan, Anoop, Matt, Kris) and Michael was still talking to people and taking pictures. Michael is soaking in this experience and enjoying it to the fullest, good for him.

Next, screammms again. Is Danny and Scott, ohhhhhh. I am not a fan of either of them but specially Danny. I feel Danny is FULL of himself and did not come across well on TV with his personality. I was talking with other fans who were there and were either Adison or Kradison but not Danny fans and we were like what do we do, when he comes over to our side? We did not want to be rude and say we don’t like you, so I decided to get his autograph. Danny comes over and I am “could I take a picture with you?” (say WHAT, WTF??? I thought I did not like him) He was gracious and took a picture but there was something off about him. Then I remembered, my face was plastered with “I LOVE ADAM” big letters. He was still nice and I am glad I took a pic with him. He is skinny, tiny and good looking (WOW, did I say that?)

Scott was with his brother, Todd??? His brother is cute and I took a pic with Scott and he seems very nice but overwhelmed by the situation is my impression. I guess, being blind having people scream and his brother guides him where to sign and where to be to pose for pics. They were all very gracious and kind to the fans. I was still hopeful that Adam, Allison and Lil would come out but someone said that the meet and greet starts at 4 pm and they do make up at 4:30 pm. I met this 2 kids who were funny and we got along real well. Also, we saw the band members arrive in a cab and I recognize them from watching all the youtube videos but MAINLY, Aaroon Spears, we gave them a shout out and they were happy.

This nice purple mercedez pulls in to get in the gate and the driver talked to the security guard and the powers that be and he went in. People started screaming and saying that Allison is coming out in a car, Allison was in the mercedez and she did no look happy. The fans, us, were happy screaming because we saw Allison close up. There were only like 10 of us still there and we were wondering, what is going on with Allison because they were doing the meet and greet inside and she just left. We thought, she forgot something but it had to be serious for her to leave. This one kid LOVE Allison and was so EXCITED he saw her and kept asking, she is coming back right? We asked the security guard, told us, she left in the doctor’s car. Allison came back but in a yellow cab, the driver of the cab looked amused because we were screaming, we love u Allison and she was trying to hide in the cab but we thought she looked sick or something. We did not know what but were happy to SEEE HER so close.

I was excited to meet 7 of the idols in person and was looking forward after the show to get ADAM’s signature or just to see him close. I will continue my other Re-cap for during show on another one because this is the end of my meeting the idols PRE-SHOW!

Locracia, you should send the recap to MJ to post so that people won’t miss it.

There’s a video in which Adam discusses the American Idol Tour where he’s looking way hot in rehearsal: http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&videoid=60255845

OMG – I’m loving his butterfly bootie, those jeans fit very well.

  • clearone

I’m sure Adam can live without vodka for a day or two.

I finally got to watch his performances from last night and WOW was he spot on or what! Totally awesome! …..and I LOVED the Elvis hair!!

  • locracia

MY show re-cap. This is my opinion and I am reporting as a fan, no a professional critic and an ADAM fan. The crowd was mixed but the attitude seemed we are waiting for Adam because saw lots of people with Adam’s T-shirts. The crowd and the energy was low because the energy seemed like we are here to see who you really are IDOLS and we won’t stand up just because you tell us to, we will do it for talent, IMO.

I am chiming in, AI needs to find other videos to play from Carrie and Daughtry, ASAP.

Michael starts singing and he was alright, good voice but did not move me, he started the show positive.

Megan, I love the girl but her second song was a disaster and she is beautiful. She picked wrong songs to sing, IMO. I feel like Slezak and Alexis should have been there instead of her.

Scott, was awesome and his joke was funny. He surprised me, I enjoyed his second song better. He sounds a little karoeke as well.

Lil, sounds to me karoeke, she has the potential but something is missing and I am not sure what it is. All her songs, were blend for me even “Single Ladies” and got distracted by the lyrics on the background and that made it, more karoeke. She gave it her all in the energy and performance but she has work to do to translate it for the masses, IMO.

Anoop, WOW, he surprised me because he has the charisma the vocals and his moves are better, he has them now. He got the crowd to stand up, some of the crowd anyway. He still sounded a bit Karoeke, and his first song put my niece to sleep, LOL. She was tired and did not get into him at all.

Matt, WOWWW, he was another surprised. He has great vocals, needs to work more and he is an awesome pianist. He had some of the crowd standing.

Intermission, went to bathroom and bought energy drink because fading away, tired from being in the sun for many hours. Everything EXPENSIVE, did not buy anything because my TREAT was the concert.

ALLISONNNN, people were excited and they were standing up, not everybody but she brought the energy up. She is incredible and a natural performer. I sense her energy and voice not as solid as the other concerts but she did awesome.

Danny, breath, he has a nice voice and some people were standing and dancing. I sat down because I just don’t like his voice, and he sings but is not my cup of TEA. Before his last song, he started preaching and I was OH NOOOOOOO, here we go. I know he is being honest, truthful but it comes across WRONG for me. The band starts playing because otherwise he won’t shut up.

ADAMMMM, OMG. The energy, the crowd, standing up, screaming loudly. WLL was intense, I was screaming like a 15 year old girl. “Startlight” was awesome, love his energy, vocals. the man is hot. MW, got chills on my skin and his voice is UNREAL. SR with Allison was dynamic but I noticed the change on lyrics on Allison and Adam was helping her because of her voice. The energy was awesome and I enjoyed it. Last song the Bowie Medley, OMG, OMG

squirrely, how to I contact Mj???

  • locracia

sorry, Mj, I posted my recaps here, I was trying to figure out how to contact you and did not so decided to write them and I see you edited them. thanks for having this site.

  • Squirrely

locaracia – on the side bar under stuff there is a ‘Contact Me’ button for MJ, also I know she posted her email address in one of these concert threads too, I’ll check to see if I can find it.

  • locracia

    Thanks Squirrely, I found it!

  • ShariG

Wow. Love the videos from Oakland. Great sound. Thanks for posting. Also very happy to hear the great crowd reaction to Kris’s performances. It sounds like the audience is very supportive.

Thank you so much for posting those HQ videos! That was as close to being there as any of the videos have achieved so far. I just can’t wait for the Dallas show! I’m going to write a review. I’m a diehard Adam fan, but I love Allison and several of the others have certainly entertained me well enough over the season, so I am excited for the whole show.

I hope there are others out there headed to the Dallas show as well!

  • ShariG

Just listened to Adam’s Bowie medley and honestly I can’t stand it. The first part is like an off off Broadway show. Vocals are not good and it is way too theatrical. Maybe he still has that headache. Fame is a bit better. Sounds better but I really can’t stand the gyrations. He doesn’t look buff to me at all. He looks a little soft and paunchy. Let’s Dance, awful. Bowie was tight when he sang. He was controlled. Adam is just all over the place. I just really don’t get all of the raves. Maybe it is because he is so different. I’ll give him that. Just really don’t like his style at all. Mad World to me is really a long bore. Again too theatrical. I did enjoy Slow Ride again though. Although I also would enjoy Renegade if Danny and Kris had sung it as a duet on the tour. Both duets were fun and well done on the show.

  • ShariG

On Twitter most all of them tweet about getting on the airplane for Utah. I’m sure they flew.

Adam was enjoying a bit of post show catch up with friends…

    From SF gate

“At the Clift’s Redwood Room Thursday, “American Idol” runner-up Adam Lambert was so mobbed that security was needed. Lambert, a cast member in the L.A. production of “Wicked,” was visiting friends in the San Francisco production.”

They actually let him go out without security??? Sounds like he went there on his own. Good grief.

For my Recap. Kris was missing because MJ edited but here it is again straight forward and hopefully it will pass the editing floor this time. It is a tough act to follow Adam but I felt it was perfect for Kris because he brings everyone to focus on him to the center of the stage, his music and talent. He is a good singer and I enjoyed his set. He seems very comfortable on the stage and love who he is. Overall, it was worth to go to the AI concert, first time goer, voter and all 10 kids performed their hearts out for the audience.

  • didilynn

Thank you to BlazingOne for the Oakland videos – they are fabulous quality. I was there, but halfway up on the other side (think I saw myself in the video) – these give me a much better close up view. I was surprised to see people were sitting on the video – everyone in my section was on their feet for Adam & Kris.

This was my first AI concert – and my first year watching the show. I got hooked because I heard about Adam. The concert was so much fun though. It felt like the energy just built and built with each singer. Of course, my group were all pretty big Adam fans – so it was a fever pitch of excitement when he came out. I was alternating between my binoculars and my iphone – got video but nothing like these. It felt like his set was over way too quickly :(.

I loved Starlight and the Bowie Medly (maybe because they were new to me and I’ve watched the others over and over so many times – of course Whole Lotta Love has been brought to a whole new level now). Maybe it’s a West Coast/California thing but Adam did seem to get the most clapping and screaming of anyone.

I loved Allison & Kris, but sometimes had a hard time hearing their words over the band (it was easier to hear them in these videos actually). Adam seems to be able to make the words heard over the music.

Adam looked hot (definitely not fat) and boy, can he move those hips (move over Elvis). I was mesmerized and couldn’t take my eyes off of him.

There were fans of others there too. In the ladies restroom at intermission (about 10 full stalls) – one lady in a stall yelled out “Anoop”, then another “Danny” so I chimed in “Adam” and about 6 more people came back with “Adam, Adam, Adam, Adam, etc.” – it was a fun moment!

While in line to get in the arena, my sister-in-law pointed out a woman in front of us and said “Isn’t that a friend of yours?” – I looked at the woman, an attractive woman my age and recognized her, then blurted out “No, that’s Adam’s mom!!!” (guess my sister-in-law recognized her from TV but didn’t figure it out). Mombert looked over at us and all I could get out was a big smile and a “Hi” – she graciously said hi back and even waved when my sister took a picture of her (I felt like a silly teenager at that point). We were surprised she had to wait in line with everyone else to get in.

I had a great, great time and if I could guarantee a seat up closer, I would fly just about anywhere in the country just to see Adam perform again!

  • will

Thanks for sharing that, didilynn. Especially enjoyed the toilet-stall shout-outs, that’s one of the more colorful stories we’ve heard!

Someone else mentioned that Adam”s mom was also waiting in line to get into an after-party along with regular folks. Can I just say that I think it’s scandalous that she’s not getting VIP treatment on this tour? I mean, without Mombert, 19E wouldn’t have its little cash cow right now, so they should be laying out the red carpet for her. I hope Kris’ folks get better treatment in AK.

  • Squirrely

Thank you locracia and didilynn, I love reading the fan recaps and these were great.

seems to me that all these “holier than thou” religous freaks only make themselves look like pathetic lost souls. they are supposed to be religous yet they judge when in the bible it clearly states that people should not judge. they twist the words of the bible around to meet whatever sick agenda they propose. and they think that if someone doesnt live the way they feel they should they attack them. they need to get a life and worry about themselves then try and push their twisted beliefs on others. i mean they seriously dont have anything better to do then to protest outside a concert? stupid question, because they clearly dont. and that to me is just sad and pathetic. but someone should protest against them for claiming to be religious, because they in some ways use the idealogy of the suicide bombers and terrorists in the way that they clearly twist the words of their religion to try to impose harm on others. im not saying they are terrorists, but im just pointing to the fact that they twist the religion around to spread their propaganda and im just plain sick of people like them. they are scum and get off on judging others when they really need to look in the mirror themselves, to see that they are just sad pathetic people. i went off on a little rant here, but people like them truly piss me off and im sick of people who are so quick to pass judgement on people they dont know!!

please tell me i have the majority people who agree with me?

  • jirish35

please can someone concur, so i can go to bed knowing that i am not the only one who is disturbed by these people who claim to be religous of all things!!
