Go to Rickey.org. Then click on Rickey.TV which is under the heading of Emergency Cellcaster needed for San Jose

Cell cast quality not great, but at least I can hear actual singing

I can hear singing best tonight but hate the clicking noise that I get.

If you follow all 6 twitterers posted above, and keep refreshing your home page, you get a really diverse and funny view of the concert tonight. lol.

I’m listening to the cellcast.whcih is decent today….Lil sounds pretty good….

pererau: Sitting at the piano, Scott comes up through a trap door. He sounds great! When he talks to the crowd he really connects.

For me, Scott has been the biggest surprise of this tour. Consistently good reviews and CONNECTING with the audience when he speaks?!?! I wasn’t impressed with his voice on the show, and he always drives me insane during interviews, so I find it really interesting that it all works on stage.

Really good response to GOMM:

My friend is at the concert and I’m on the phone with her. the sound is surprisingly good. Matt is singing Georgia and he is kicking ass.

Since when does anoop pelvic thrust? ha ha adam teaching them already.

As with every performance to date Matt’s GOMM is getting mostly positive reviews — but some not so good comments. I’m surprised because I love how he does this.

I completely understand lizardino, 4 of my exes were all built exactly like Adam (all 6’1″ to 6’3″) and 2 looked very similar to Adam.

I have friends at the Sacramento concert and I think they have answered the question of “people leaving during Kris’ performance”. Some number of passionate Adam fans left after Adam finished to get positioned to get Adam’s autographs. Nothing to do with Kris at all.

My friends estimated it might be 200 to 300 people — all women — maybe more.

Unfortunately, I’ve never been to an arena concert where there wasn’t a bandzilla. I came to the conclusion awhile ago that arenas are for diehard fans (i.e. those that already know all the words.)

Finally! I got my wish granted. Now I can really enjoy the L.A. concert and will just ignore that he is playing “Hey Jude” on a frakking acoustic guitar (that is just so wrong in Beatlemania land). L.A & Adam = one out of this world concert!!!

I’m on my phone on the way back from the concert. I have a video of Kris’s new song for all of you guys, and some videos of a couple other people. Unfortunately none of Adam because my video camera died righhht before he came on and I was too
mesmerized to remember that my normal camera had video capabilities. I have good pictures as well. When I get home I’ll send them to MJ and try to write a full recap. The highlight was definitely when Adam looked straight at my friend and I.

But overall Kris, Adam, Danny, and Anoop were my favorites.

I saw a dress rehearsal of Idol live. He has a nice enough voice. He runs out of breath and tends to use his throat rather than his diaphragm. My main problem with him is that he doesn’t seem to realize his shortcomings. Oh, and I hate his song choices. Sometimes, it’s all about song choice. I won’t see this live for months, so who knows?

The Caruso dude clearly said that Danny had a standing “O” before he got to the last song….he said it was the first standing “o” of the night. He went on about DAnny’s stage presense and in his mind even Danny’s talking was well received.

Anyone who doubts Kris’ energy level just needs to watch the Bright Lights video from Vancouver. After beating the cr*p out of a piano, he then runs across the stage, grabs an electric guitar, and flogs the cr*p out of it too.

He will hold up just fine in the Killer’s song, I am sure.

I think it is clear that Danny is getting a great reception from the crowd. It also can be true that people are standing up for Danny but also in anticipation of Adam at the same time.

pj – I understand you saw the dress rehearsal and you are certainly entitled to your opinion, and it’s fine with me that you do not like Danny. However, based on my observation in Vancouver his set was very done and well received. You could argue he might not be the best singer of the Top 4, but he is popular in concert and when a seemingly unbiased tweeter stated the fact “standing ovation for Danny. First of night”, there are people who simply refuse to accept this, that’s why I would suggest them to attend the concert in person. So far the first 4 concerts all indicate Danny’s one of the more popular idols.

You could argue he might not be the best singer of the Top 4, but he is popular in concert and when a seemingly unbiased tweeter stated the fact ‘standing ovation for Danny. First of night’ , there are people who simply refuse to accept this, that’s why I would suggest them to attend the concert in person. So far the first 4 concerts all indicate Danny’s one of the more popular idols.

Yeah, kokko, he did say “standing ovation for Danny. First of the night.” And then went on to say that the crowd favorites were Adam and Danny….so one really has to be stretching it (imo) to think that Danny’s standing ovation was for Adam. I wondered at first if the person was kidding, but then I figured since it was Danny, they probably weren’t. lol.

But Danny, according to a lot of reports that I’ve seen has been very well received by the crowd. Trust me, after reading on the Internet, I was totally prepared for the worst. But it seems that Danny does have a lot of fans out there, and he is pleasing those fans.

Yes, Danny is consistently getting a good response from the audience. And the reports from Sacramento say he was #2 in applause only exceeded by Adam. And that is excluding the standing O/Adam anticipation.

I just listened to Rickey’s cellcast for Anoop & Matt & “Beggin”. Rickey’s dancing during “My Prerogative” was hilarious. His pics & props are funny too. Matt posing with Tigger during “You Found Me”, LOL. I loved Matt’s “You Found Me”, BTW. It’s fun to hear the reaction of the crowd, makes me even more excited for my turn to see Anoop.

Anoop is really built for the big stage, his moves are so elegant and cool during “Beggin”, like James Bond. During “My Prerogative”, he’s so tall it makes it easy to see him gyrate even if you’re far away. I’ve seen the videos, it’s true! BTW, Anoop mentioned he worked with the same choreographer that did “Single Ladies”, so I think that’s where he picked up his new dance moves, which I love. :wub_tb:

I’m not a big fan of Danny’s, but I can’t argue that he’s not popular. He’s got a really strong response from the crowd at all of the tour dates so far. And he has a LOT of fans — otherwise there’s no way he would’ve finished 3rd on the show.

From what I can tell from the tweets, reviews and YouTube videos, the Top 4 are the most popular so far on tour (with Adam being the most popular)

By the way, the fake canned laughter on this American Top40 broadcast is really annoying…

Me too. There are a lot of reports that Danny and Megan has taking letters and small gifts for other idols. And, Michael is going way beyond all the others in signing, getting things to other idols and talking to fans after the show.

There is no way Matt said that to either the little girl or that guy. I read his tweets tonight and it is obvious he doesn’t like Matt. I’m assuming he was one of the Anoop fans that was angry because Matt was giving the save. There is nothing to support this. Matt has been nothing but sweet to everyone he has encountered. All reports are that Matt is a humble, funny, sweet guy. So sorry I don’t believe it.

Oh and I read on Idol Forums tonight that Allison was very rude to a fan because the fan had the audicity to ask her to sign on another Idol’s picture. So are we suppose to believe that too?

This is why I will never go and stand by the buses to get an autograph. They have just put on a performance for you and now you demand an autograph or call them stuck-up if they don’t or can’t. They are people, not robots.

I think it’s weird that fans think they are owed more than what the Idols give at the concert. There is no rule that says they have to meet, take pics or sign anything after the show. That’s totally their prerogative.

I also think it’s rude for a fan of one Idol to ask another Idol to give them gifts or messages or get them to come outside. These are people who have been thrust into a bright spotlight all of a sudden. It’s got to be unnerving and weird.

I have thought this for quite some time, there are times I can see the horns and tail… so bad me for besmirching Matt.

I don’t believe that twitterer about Matt. I really don’t. I read some of that guy’s other tweets, he seems to want a lot of attention and those tweets sure got him some. It may have happened, but not like I think he said.

I just want to think the best of these kids, all of them.

Regarding Matt’s comment about “Not being Adam’s messanger” I was there when the guy told Matt about the letter…at the time Matt was surrounded by people taking pictures and was signing autographs and was already well past the point of where he could pick up the note and then “deliver” it to Adam. Matt was exttremely gracious and just indicated that he was kinda in the middle of something!!! In my opinion it was extremely rude for the guy to ask Matt to pick up this envelope off the floor and deliver it to Adam like he was his assistant or something. Plenty of people would have been upset if Matt just shot up and left in the middle of greeting his fans. I was also there and I did NOT see any little girl drop a letter…..I did see a “hello Kitty” type of envelope…but no girl to show for it.

What I am upset about this evening is of course that Adam did not bother to come out and sign. We were all in shock, but to be fair there were a ridiculous amount of people out there tonight. I don’t think he could have gone though 1/10th of the crowd before they had to leave.

I could almost believe matt said that. But, so? him snubbing one fan is worse than Adam snubbing them all?

I like Matt, and I like Adam. But I could totally see Matt being jealous. I’ve seen his face occasionally, when he’s adam watching from the risers. You can see a tinge of jealousy. I think it’s perfectly understandable. Some viewers tend to think of it as the Adam Lambert Tour Featuring Some Other People, I Forget Their Names. It must get really tiring. And Matt is human. Capable of human emotions. Like you wouldn’t be jealous!! You go outside to greet fans, only to be pelted by a letter for someone else– someone who didn’t even bother to sign autographs (this is me thinking as a jealous idol). As big of person as you are, as gracious as you try to be, it’s got to wear you down eventually. Always being overshadowed by someone, being someone’s second or third fave- after adam, of course! Adam, handed down from God himself… Like it wouldn’t get old. And like someone said, technically, they don’t have an obligation to be nice or even sign. You paid for a show, they gave you the show, what else do you want? gosh.

I would be embarrassed if I came out, thinking, ahhhh all these people! Here to see me! Oh, what? no? you.. just.. want to see adam.. and.. use me… as a messenger… no.. it’s cool… want my autograph? no? what if I sign adam….

This. Totally this. But to paraphrase one of the Tweets to Adam, ‘we made you, so you owe it to meet us.’ Which no. He owes you a good show. Did he put a good one on? Well there you go.

I knew there was more to the story. No way would Matt ever be rude to the fans. He loves the fans and there has been no other reports of him being rude so why would this one be true? He is out with the fans every night both before and after the show and he is always twittering about how great the fans are. No way was he rude or mean to this guy. Fans have been raving about how sweet and gracious Matt is at the buses. Nope it didn’t happen! He has even tweeted people who expressed disappointment they were unable to meet him apologizing to them.

Well, actually, hopefully they didn’t all have “pounding headaches.” They’d all be deaf before the end of tour if they got such headaches after every concert.

Sometimes people get horrible headaches. That’s a pretty clear fact of life. Doesn’t make them jerks. And as for people being rude on twitter: if one of these performers tweeted that they were really sorry that they couldn’t sign autographs but they had just found out that their grandmother died and they had to rush off to be with family, there would be people tweeting at them, “It’s so selfish to put personal stuff above your fans who have made you what you are.” People can be crazy.

And yes, people on twitter will say anything. By all reports, all these guys have been very gracious with their fans.

I guess it does if you’re Adam Lambert, you’re not allowed to be feeling sick. Give your heart out on the stage for a performance, but skip one what…10 minute line because you’ve got a killer headache and I guess you’re the devil.

Headaches =/= deafness.

I didn’t say Adam was a jerk. Too me, it feels like the idols have to go ABOVE and BEYOND to even be just slightly below Adam in the eyes of fans. Not saying Adam gets leeway, but I almost feel like some of the other idols feel pressured to be nicer, more gracious, more accessible, to come even close to Adam.

Plus they keep reporting that there are ongoing sound mixing problems and those affect what comes through the ear monitors. Adam has complained that the band comes through too loudly. I know I would have a headache, too.

It’s 1 something a.m., and I just got back from the concert! It’s a long drive for me.

My wrists are sore from clapping, and I have no voice from screaming. I let out some pretty loud woops for Allison. She’s amazing. Loved Barracuda especially. But when Adam showed up, it was full tilt. I couldn’t believe myself. I was so excited and awestruck. I’m so sorry Adam has a headache. You couldn’t tell by that performance. I’m an Adam fan and was expecting to be amazed, but it was beyond amazing. Words truly escape me at the moment. I want to add that Kris is also very talented, but I had a hard time taking anything else in after Adam’s performance. I think I just wasn’t ready to let go of it if that makes sense. It’s late.

My daughter who does not watch AI, loved Adam, Kris and Allison. She also enjoyed some other performances. She has vids and photos. I hope she gets them to me by tomorrow a.m. so I can share, but it’s out of my control so can’t guarantee it. My camera failed.

My daughter said she may write a recap and I’ll attempt one in the a.m.

OK. Just got back from the concert because I was one of those crazy people standing around after the show. I’m so worn out. Got there 6 hours before the concert even started. Its been a long day.

I think that Adam did a smart thing retiring to the bus if he was feeling terrible. We all have to know our own limitations. I know that personally I can power through a certain level of not feeling well and still put on a happy face to take care of business, but there comes a point where it’s just better for all concerned if I make myself scarce, and he probably knows the same about himself. I hope he doesn’t make a habit of not greeting the fans because of course there are a lot of people who are dreaming of having even a brief moment with him, and people like to see their idols being kind to fans. I’m sure he understands that. I am convinced that he is a person who is very appreciative of what his fans have done for him, so I think he deserves the benefit of any doubt.

I could totally see Matt being jealous. I’ve seen his face occasionally, when he’s adam watching from the risers.

I agree. Just a personal observation, but I have seen that face in Matt ever since Adam was performing Satisfaction for the second time at the 2nd group results show, everyone was smiling and dancing along Adam’s song, except for Matt. I wasn’t even a big Adam fan then, but I remember perceiving that as something very rude from him.

So, who knows? I don’t really care, but, as well as with the booing stories, I still won’t believe something that only 1 person from twitter has confirmed.

I don’t really understand the temperament of the fans this season. Or maybe it’s always been this way but we didn’t know about it because Twitter wasn’t as popular and the Idols didn’t tweet. There were many, many instances last season when some of the Idols didn’t come out to sign or take pics; after a bad incident in Columbus, Cook never came out after the shows again. I have to think it’s fair-weather fans that will be hateful when/if that happens this season. I hope people will understand that Adam, Kris and Allison are working on their albums along with doing this tour and interviews. I’d rather they skip a bus signing than end up too ill to perform at a concert.

Just watched Kris’ All These Things…. it was okay. And this is coming from a diehard the Killers fan. So that’s like.. a “fantastic” if I was just a viewer.

Idk if he should have done that song. Seeing the Killers do that song in concert is an experience. The song becomes like, 7 minutes and it becomes so grandeur and amazing, and seriously, you almost weep when you hear the lead singer, brandon, softly say for the first time “I got soul but I’m not a soldier.” I don’t know. Huge The Killers fan and that is a huge the Killers song.

he did well though. hopefully he switches it up for the tour.. right now.. he is very.. guy playing it on the guitar, and signing it exactly how it is. And hopefully he gets all the lyrics right next time.

That is a very good point, isis. I concede that to be true. I suppose it goes both ways. Any Adam slight– he’s the worst guy in the world, but to some fans, Adam can do no wrong. People are crazy.

Yes, now I know and I Accept!!! (I thought he left because of time constraints and the size of the crowd). It was obvious he didn’t feel well tonight…His performace was great but not as enthusiastic as the Portland performance. That show he was just plain giddy.

I was at the show tonight and I have to say that Kris rocked Sacramento with the Killers song. The oxygen sucking black hole of NoBo was filled with people on their feet singing along and rocking out. Fabulous. My daughter, who was not much of an AI fan before the concert, came home and was checking to see if we could find closer seats at Saturday’s or Sunday’s concert.

I went to the show with the idea that I was going to give them all some love (well, a lot to Adam) regardless of how well they did. I have to say that I was surprised at how much I enjoyed all of the idols. Danny really did sound great and he really did get his very own standing O from nearly everyone there. His ‘preachy’ part was in between the 3rd and 4th song and it was pretty brief.

In fact, my biggest issue was that they rushed each new singer in before the exiting one could acknowledge their applause. We were still applauding one set when the next singer started. This may be what has led to some of the confusion. I know they are on a tight schedule but geez…

Actually, this came to mind as well. I read in one article that water, greens and fiber bread are the only type of food he consumes. Plus the sound system problem could also contribute the headache. Imagine how unbalance you will be if you hear sudden burst of noise. His killer schedule is another thing. I wouldn’t be shock if he gets sick and hospitalized because of all these. Anyway, let’s just extend a little bit of understanding on this matter. I fully understand that everybody is excited but there will be another chance to meet him.

FYI, they are not playing in SF. It is more or less central to Sac (the furthest), Oakland (closest) and San Jose. After their SJ show, they are flying to Utah. They had flown into SF airport from Vancouver, and must have taken limos into the city.

Anyway, I hope Adam is fully recovered by tomorrow night. I still think he needs better ear monitors since the audience gets crazy screaming. I hope I don’t do that because I want to thoroughly enjoy Adam.

His job is to sing LIVE no lip synching because he has colds, during the Live Concert and Sing well. He knows his physical limitations and if he is like coming down with the flu or any virus and just cant sign anymore requests, we should give the guy the benefit of the doubt.

He has been accommodating and quite a happy camper these past months. Plus you probably saw some of the photos where he did sign autographs before this show and also after this show but just inside a building . It must be cooler now and if he has a head cold. Not good for singing tomorrow.

Hopefully he did not pick up any virus somewhere.

And he did apologize . I think that is just good manners to let everyone know why he could not stay up outside in the open night air.

Thank you so much! I don’t know this song or The Killers (so sue me – I’m old), but this song kicks the crap out of that POS NoBo. I think it’s a great choice for Kris and the momentum holder he needed in his set. Bravo, sweet Pocket Idol, bravo!

I’m all for bringing it back to the actual *show* … Thank you Kris for performing a new song tonight!! I watched it, and since I have no point of reference for comparing it with The Killers, I have to say that I thought it sounded pretty good. IMO, for a non-rocking guy with not much of a rock voice, Kris has put a surprising amount of rock into his set on tour. I wonder if he feels the need to put in so much to bring high energy to his set, or if that’s really a style he likes and will showcase on a solo tour.

Aren’t we saying the same thing then? I’m saying that these guys don’t have any obligation to deal with fans–they just owe fans a good show for their money. It’s a good thing to sign when you feel able, but when you have a terrible headache or feel otherwise horrible or something (whether you’re Adam or any of the others), then you don’t have to. And getting annoyed at these guys because someone on twitter says they said/did something less than polite is silly–it’s twitter, people can/will say anything.

I thought you were saying that Adam was rude not to sign stuff even with a headache, which I disagreed with–I get terrible headaches sometimes, and they can be borderline incapacitating. And I have to say, I might not understand it, but Gokey seems genuinely popular and it seems that a lot of people are being touched by his stories and stuff. While I might hate his preaching and don’t feel anything when he talks about his wife, but a desire to roll my eyes, but that’s just me. I’m not going to deny that he does seem to be doing reallly well with the AI audience.

Agree with you on this. I don’t think Adam would deliberately skip the autograph signing portion just because he wants to. Of course, he forced himself to appear among the fans but can’t smile properly – imagine what fans will say about it. I think that would have been a bigger concern.

I met my favorite Kris. Granted, it was somewhat awkward (My nephew told me to tell Kris that he was delicious, I told Kris my nephew said that and he was like “Ah” with the eyebrows raised, you know like a little awkward laugh), but I got his autograph and I can die happy. His new song was very catchy. The soldier part.

Meeting them was so much fun. I got Megan to do her bird call without hesitation, it was the most awesome thing ever. First celebrity autograph of my life, too. I sang Single Ladies with Lil, that was fun until I forgot the words and she laughed lol. I took a picture with Allison and my mom introduced me as her future husband (I have a crush on Allison, I don’t personally know her but she seems like my type). I got down on one knee as a joke, she rolled her eyes lol. Matt, Michael, and Anoop were all fun. I admit, even though I really don’t like how Sarver said the “Godly” thing, he seems like a really nice guy. Funny story, someone told me people were looking for Adam to give autographs today in the afternoon in his Rolling Stones magazine, but Kris, Matt, and Michael were the only ones to come out and even though people flipped to the back page, they caught on and started signing it with “I heart Adam” or something.

The highlight of the night was meeting Kris, that was the most important thing I wanted to do.

I saw someone throw a shirt or something at Matt, but I didn’t notice any sort of hostility or anger.

Kris made me feel like a giant. I thought I was 2 inches taller, but it feels like I was more like 4 inches taller. OH YEAH, his wife was there, she’s a stunning woman. She and Kris had a hug and kiss in front of the bus.

Just listened to “All The Things I’ve Done” and wow — I don’t even really know the song and it’s already 1000 times better than NB. Kris also seems to have a great time singing this, and he’s playing his electric guitar, baby!

Regarding the fans — I remember this kind of duscussion from some theatre boards last year when an actor I like was in a play. Some of his fans were really put out that he didn’t always show up to sign autographs and always refused to take photos (when you’re an actor, you need to control your image if you’re smart). Somehow they expected that because they bought a ticket to the show that this gave them an all-access pass to the actor as well. From what I’ve heard, this is a very gracious actor that has had some issues with loony fans in the past (sound familiar?).

Anyway, it really reminded me of this current situation. For some reason, fans have begun to feel entitled to autographs, photos, attention and etc. I know that in the case of AI, this is more of an expectation than in some other cases. However, I only expected to get a great show for my money when I went to the concert (and I did). I thought about waiting around by the buses afterward, but there were 100′s of people there already and lots of them looked pushy. I think if some of the idols are able to come out for a few minutes with their fans, it’s all gravy. Or it should be.

I think the Idols are really grateful and gracious as a whole, but I think the producers need to perhaps find a better way to handle some of these interactions. For most of them it isn’t so much of an issue, but I know that David Cook had issues last year (and stopped doing autographs by the buses altogether), and I can see things heading in that direction with Adam and even Kris. I certainly don’t feel that anyone should feel entitled to anything extra from these guys (unless they go to a meet & greet or something). All this fan stuff can get really ugly. Sad, really. I would start to feel overwhelmed by all the people screaming at me every day.

Amen to what you stated. I too believe the headache angle. He should rest and EAT! Don’t think he is eating properly. Might be pushing himself too much. Guys, I don’t think we know if that diet article was true. A lot of people seem to think it was completely made up, and given that there was a picture of Adam (why do I know this?) eating ice cream the other day, I highly doubt he’s subsisting on greens like he’s a llama or something.

If he doesn’t take care of himself when he’s not feeling well, he won’t have much to give towards the great performances that everyone has come to expect from him. IMHO he’s wise to take care of his health and his voice, and to make that a priority rather than feel that he needs to sign autographs that some fans feel ‘entitled’ to get from him no matter how bad he may be feeling. Don’t they always say on airplanes that if the air bags come down, make sure you take care of yourself first and put one on yourself before you put it on your child’s?

And wouldn’t it be nice if Adam’s fans can appreciate the times he so graciously is willing to sign autographs without expectations that he SHOULD do it for the price of admission? I agree with those who wrote that what we pay for is the best performance they can give us.. that’s all and that’s enough.. it’s unconditional appreciation for a unique and special talent that needs to be supported and nurtured.

To add, Danny Gokey got really huge response at the tour. People were waving their hands a lot more than they were for Adam, that I noticed anyway. But Adam got the loudest cheers. Kris’s rendition of Heartless also got the crowd in a storm, as did Hey Jude.

Same here. I know that whatever the circumstance i am still a fan. I like the music primarily and the rest is just gravy. You are right on the mindset of the some fans and their expectations. Some expects the moon & stars from fav artists. Sadly that is now how things are.

I thought you said that you didn’t think it was wrong at all for Adam to forgo signing due to a headache? It’s not a matter of “manning up” or making excuses: I’m sure Allison and Kris were tired, they all are, but they didn’t seem to be feeling terrible–it seems to have been only Adam who really felt awful, for whatever reason. If Kris or Allison or any of the others felt as badly as he apparently felt, then they probably would have forgone signing as well, and no reasonable person would criticize them for it (meaning that crazies on twitter would, but that always happens).

Kris, Adam, and Allison are probably all especially exhausted because I think (I’m new to AI, but this is what I’ve heard) that they are indeed working tirelessly on their albums.

Headaches =/= deafness.

True, headache does not equal deafness. However, I can’t even talk when I have a raging headache, let alone sing. He has another performance (no mellow affair) tomorrow, oops, tonight, and another one on Sunday. When is he supposed to recover? I will be majorly p!ssed off if his headache gets worse and he either can’t perform or performs sub-par on MY day. Never understood why people wait in line for hours to get an autograph. What do you do with it. Wipe your arse?

I would like to echo many posters who said the idols do not owe us more than giving their best to each and every performance. My AT&T statement for May was 558 pages all with Adam’s text numbers. I don’t mind not having picutre of Adam and myself or his autograph. They will end up in a shoe box which will get moved from my study to some other remote corner and then eventually the garage and then I wouldn’t remember where I put it.

Reading the conversation on these tour threads is like re-reading the one last year. I remember the same fan madness for Archie like the one for Adam this year (the decibel level was insane!). The kid was really sweet and came out at every stop, come rain or shine. Cook missed a few stops (maybe 5 or 6, he certainly came out again after Columbus). There was a huge fuss each time he missed, but there were good reasons – he wouldn’t tolerate rude and pushy fans and there were times he’d tell peeps to calm down or back off if they were endangering others. Security was a big deal, but he tried to deal with it with some humour. I only remember 1 stop where he was genuinely upset – when someone displayed his family home phone number on a poster (freaky!). At one stop another Idol’s fan actually held up a pretty crazy poster amounting to something like a death threat (It was supposedly a joke – what a moron!), and he didn’t say anything. He had co-writing and recording sessions every free minute and would often fly back to LA right after a concert. He also had to fly out to random public appearances as the reigning American Idol, like the Oprah Winfrey show etc. He definitely had more interviews and radio stops than the other Idols. But he made lots of time for little kids at the fences, paying them longer attention, sometimes carrying them over the fence to help him do the signings, sometimes arranging for meet&greet passes even if they were fans of the other Idols.

So take it from a AI7 “grizzled vet”: all these kids are really really good with their fans. If they don’t come out / don’t sign / don’t want to take messages and stuff for the other idols, there’s usually a really good reason. They’re on a gruelling tour, doing interviews and photoshoots and some are recording. For the First Time in their lives. And many fans aren’t saints either – I’ve seen more bad behaviour from fans than from the Idols – pushy, rude, demanding, hyooooge sense of entitlement issues, and some are downright nuts LOL.

As for Twitter, I don’t pay much attention to commentary. Twit comments don’t give you much context. The updates or links to pics vids or other real content are the useful bits.

This is totally unsubstantiated rumor generated entirely by one website that has posted two articles with zero cites or attribution as to where they got the information. They have name dropped Adam all over their ad covered pages which points to their merely wanting website hits.

OMG KILLERS!!!!!! I am the all time rabid Killer fan, and that is my favourite song by them. Kris actually has a better voice than Brandon so I was excited to hear the clip. Did Matt even know a little girl had tried to give the letter to Adam? He could have thought it was from some creepy pervy dude, for all we know. Why should he pick it up when Adam couldn’t be bothered when A LITTLE GIRL had thrown it at him when he was passing by?

I know what you mean. I’ve never figured out why people must have “autographs”, except those looking for ebay money. (And many of those are fake anyway). After AI ended, and before the tour, rehearsals, contracts etc., Adam was signing and returning stuff that was sent to him-often with nice long notes. So if you MUST get an AI autograph, this is the time to do it I think.

This was already mentioned in other sites. Adam didn’t see the envelope. He didn’t ignore it. I think it fell when Adam already move ahead. When somebody noticed that it was on the ground, that person requested Matt to get it and forward it to Adam which Matt refused given that he can’t get out from signing autographs. I think Adam is sweet and will not do this to a child.

I wish Danny had been the one standing there, he probably would have picked it up and given the little girl a hug to boot. (Yes, I really think so). I have loved seeing reports of the fan reaction to Danny. I think it is what he deserves. It sounds like all of them are getting lots of love from the fans and that makes me happy.

I’m not into Danny, but I agree with this.

I doubt it! Not everyone thinks the sun and moon rises and sets with Adam. Nor is everyone walking around being jealous of Adam. I don’t for a minute believe this ever happened.

Ditto. I don’t know if I’d call myself a “diehard Killers fan,” but I love a lot of their songs, and this one is just meh. I’ve heard the album that it’s on many times, and I didn’t even remember it when I listened to it again last night. Strange choice. All I can figure is that much of it is sung in his lower register, and he may be trying to save his voice while still having an uptempo number.

I was angry to see all the hate directed at Matt when I logged on this morning, and I posted in anger. I apologize to you and other Adam fans.

Flickers post just shows us how one tweet can be taken and misinterpreted and re-phrased. Flicker, Adam had to leave the meet and greet that took place inside the venue halfway through the signing because he was feeling unwell and therefore did not make it outside to sign. People who were inside said he wasn’t himself, he must have been feeling pretty awful and had to leave. Therefore Adam couldn’t have see the note from the little girl, because he wasn’t even there.

If this one little incident doesn’t show us how the media, twitter, gossip, and peoples differing perspectives affect how information is perceived, and retold, then I don’t know what does. Twitter is the devil, its like a worldwide game of chinese whispers.

Another spin on the “Adam” incident-it could be that seeing the huge crowd the handlers didn’t allow him to meet and greet due to security concerns. I think the reality is that this IS the Adam Lambert show. Adam is the cash cow-I think interest and ticket sales would have been moderate at best without Adam.

While the idols are well paid, their days are grueling, and Adam and Kris especially are in demand for local press and extra duty. I think the tour would be fun if you were on the two-song first part of the slate. But every ounce of blood is extracted from Allison, Adam, Danny and Kris.

I don’t think Matt realised the letter was from a child either. It is mayhem by those barricades.
All the idols are doing their best. Adam has two more shows in a row to do. He can’t afford to take risks with his health and risk missing a performance, that would be even more of a let down to fans than foregoing 10 minutes of signing autographs.

I agree with this. The top four are the headliners and Adam, Kris and Allison are pretty much pre- promoting their albums. Adam and Kris are doing more outside the tour things and Adam even more than Kris – this is jmo based on press and interviews. I also feel Adam has more pressure on him to give a good performance because of all the AI hype he received.

Side note – based on Danny’s reception and performances, he may have a deal by the time the tour is over.

These guys are so swamped when they come out it is virtually impossible for them to read every note, shake every hand, have their picture taken with every fan. I went to seven concerts last year and only saw David Cook at all at three of them two before the concert and one after. I was only close enough to take a picture through the heads and arms the first time, got to get his autograph for a friend in Brazil the second time, and finally the third time, which was the last concert in Tulsa, I got to actually talk to him for a millisecond and give him a gift. It was not because he was dissing his fans. They are just pulled in a million directions including local press, organized autographed sessions, and pre and post production responsibilities. The fact that they come out before and after the shows at all is a testiment to how much they appreciate and connect with their fans.

“All These Things that I Have Done”: What a perfect choice. I’ve loved that song for years. He’s in my brain with song choices.

1. He should have done this for rock night instead of Come Together. Come Together was good but this would have completely surprised and delighted the judges.

2. I think this song goes a long way to tell people the kind of performer that he is and his vision for his future. I never would have thought that he’s pick a song like this. I’m really excited for Kris. Great.

He really does. I’m still curious to know if Kris approached the producers or if the producers approached Kris about dropping NB.

If Matt did say “he wasn’t a messinger” he’d be my new hero. Because I don’t understand the whole waiting after the show to get them to sign things and giving them letters or gifts. And if he had the balls to say no to the overinvested Idol fans that expect a personal connection because they watch TV, I’d really respect him. However, I’m guessing it’s just another exaggerated story spread via Twitter.

And twitter is ridiculous. Just because somebody twitters something at the moment doesn’t mean its true or there isn’t an agenda involved.

And I kind of hope Adam has a headache after every show and then it turns out that’s it all bs. The quicker overinvested fans realize that he’s just a normal person, the better. He’s not a God or even a Rock God yet. And every other idol current or past is not jellus of him. Nothing to be jellus of yet. Maybe in six months or maybe never.

Top 40 is crap but this is the arena where Adam, Kris and Allison have to succeed.

Honestly, neither Kris or Adam is setting the world on fire with their S8 sales especially compared with last year. Just bringing some reality into all this.

The entire audience remained on it’s feet for the new song, so that silences the loudest complaint about NoBo in concert. There is a low quality vid from further back in the audience, and it also showed everyone standing.

I seldom use the high quality setting at youtube, because I have a low bandwidth usage plan. But, this one really needs the HQ because of the low sound quality.

We were standing in line about 30 or 40 feet from the beginning of the crowd and about 2 people deep. Right behind me was a young mom with her daughter who was probably 7 or 8. The daughter was restless and wanted to leave, but had a letter that she had written for Adam that she wanted to give him. I know this because we had all talked amongst ourselves about who we were waiting for and had agreed to try to let each other get toward the front when “our” idols came by. Michael had already come by and signed autographs, and Anoop and Matt were starting to make their way down the line when Adam came out and walked toward the buses, waving at the crowd and blowing kisses. The girl, probably realizing that he wasn’t going to come, but really wanting to get it to him, threw the letter (I don’t think it was in an envelope, it was just written on some kiddie-looking stationary. Needless to say, it only went about three or four feet beyond the barrier, so I was about to ask one of the security guys if he could pick it up for her, but he started walking the other direction. A minute later, Matt came along. He was very friendly to everyone and even signed a shirt that my wife had brought to get some signatures on. There was a moment where nobody was calling his name, so I thought, maybe he would pick the letter up and slip it in his pocket and give it to Adam when he got in the bus, so I said, “Hey Matt, there is a letter right there that this little girl wrote (there is no way he could have seen the girl as she was several people back and only about 3 feet tall), and she wanted to give it to Adam. Could you take it to her. He looked up and said, “sorry, I’m not Adam’s messenger. I hope he gets it.” and moved on. Interjecting my personal opinion, I think that in that scenario, I would have bent over and just slipped it in my pocket, but then again, Matt was busy trying to please a whole throng of fans, and it really wasn’t his duty to play mailman to Adam. The tale is nothing more and nothing less than that. I don’t think it is fair to judge Matt’s personality based on one 5 second interaction in the middle of a crowd, and that was not the point of my tweet. I just really felt bad for that girl, who I could tell was just hoping for nothing more than a chance to say hi to Adam. So please, tell your readers to take it easy on Matt. I don’t think he deserves some of the flames I’m seeing thrown at him, and I’m sorry to be the instigator of that with my tweet.

Another spin on the ‘Adam’  incident-it could be that seeing the huge crowd the handlers didn’t allow him to meet and greet due to security concerns. I think the reality is that this IS the Adam Lambert show. Adam is the cash cow-I think interest and ticket sales would have been moderate at best without Adam.

We don’t know but I had the same thought. And there were a lot of people there waiting to get Adam’s autograph/see him/scream. The video from Vancouver showed the the signing was a bit crazy there.

I don’t knw if this is up to David Cook level, but it may be that TPTB decided that it was better not to have him come out last night. They had Adam out first and alone after one concert.

Okay, can’t resist chiming in on headache-gate. People are actually mad at Adam about this? I have a hard time wrapping my brain around that one. Yes, I’m an Adam fan, but I’d feel the same way if it was Danny or Allison or whoever who didn’t sign because of a headache. Sometimes people just don’t feel well. And I think there’s a big difference between signing autographs for a thousand screaming fans and sucking it up and doing your job when you don’t feel well. It takes a lot of energy to interact with fans that way, when everyone *wants* something from you. Yes, Adam owes something to his fans and that’s a great show every night. But he has to be able to set limits when he needs to, otherwise those same fans will take everything they can get. It’s not as if he never signs autographs or never interacts with fans. He had ONE night where he didn’t feel up to it. It’s not that big of a deal.

Oh–that’s too bad. Matt kind of screwed up with that.

indeed, either because it’s General Admission no seating or people were up from the first song

thrilled to hear that new song from the Killers, a crowd pleaser- now Brandon Flowers was doing a scruffy Colonel Sanders look on the Sam’s Town tour, he is back to rocking guyliner and feathers, why I love them, beside the quirky lyrics, they follow their own muse even if it confuses their own fans…

His handlers do not control Adam to that degree. If Adam had wanted to come out, he would have been out there, not that I blame him or fault him either way.

Thanks for your response. I think the guy who twittered about “matt” also apologize to Matt via twitter. At the end of the day, all AI contestants wants to do music and they deserve their chance. As fans we have to give them that opportunity. Sadly, not all fans are supportive.

No matter how you spin it it comes off bad. Even if he just picked it up it would have been cool. And for the record, no he was not obligated to do anything, but it would have been good press in the fandom world if he did.

As for Adam, I doubt he will miss another signing after this, even if he only signs for 2 people he will be out there. I remember Jaime Fox talking about this on Ellen and saying Adam will need to be prepared for this.

I also think that Kris changed it to save his voice, both he and Adam said many times that NB is very difficult to sing live…..

Just watched “All The Things Things That I’ve Done”. Kris looks like he’s having fun which is nice, and the crowd def likes it more than NoBo.

This always happens early in the tour season. After a few concerts and a few tweets/reports about each and every contestant, people realize that it’s much ado about nothing. Given enough time, every Idol says something that can be taken the wrong way, misses signing autographs, is grumpy, looks at a fan the wrong way, doesn’t hear something somebody shouts and is stuck-up/not gracious/unappreciative/jealous/etc. Most fans soon realize this and stop over-reacting to each and every report.

Idols are humans. People reporting things are humans. Some fans will always be crazy.

It would have been kind of scary if Danny had been the one who refused to give the letter to Adam. Since before the tour he was pretty much seen as the debil or mega douche by many. There would have been Armagedon among the Idol fanbase for sure.

Although I see on the tour he and Sarver are coming across as nice guys.

I still like NoBo, and it probably would have been fine, earlier in the show. It was just out of place, after the ‘rock’ got turned up by the final 4 (minus Danny).

The producers intended for Kris’ segment to be his own show, instead of a continuation of Adam’s show, but the critics and some in the audience either didn’t grasp, or didn’t appreciate that concept.

So now, ballads are pretty much off the table for Kris’ segment, it would seem, as any ballad would be labled a buzz kill.
