Kris has developed a nice Twitter voice–but Adam still has room for improvement. I’m not sure if Twitter is the best medium for Adam. He is such a wonderful intuitive/inferential speaker and thinker (just consider the four part LA Times ultimate interview), but none of that comes across on Twitter.

You have to be kind of snarky/teasing/”pull the cover off half way but not all the way” to make Twitter work.

Welcome! You mean like a professionally produced version of the entire tour? From my limited knowledge (first-time follower), no. Of course, with all the YouTubes, some very tech-savvy people could likely point you in the right direction to doing your own compilation. I’ve burned a few favorite videos to DVD ‘“  it works in my computer, but not in my DVD player.

If anyone knows differently about a compilation DVD, let us know.

I can’t remember where I read it, but there was a recent article (?) saying that they were planning on releasing the tour songs on iTunes after the tour is over. Sounds like a good way to cash in on these guys some more, so I’m sure it’ll happen.

Most of the real-life Adam fans I know liked Danny second. I’m only talking a sample size of about 45 people though. LOL..bowling league discussions. Danny’s got a good voice, doesn’t know what to do with it, but it’s pleasant sounding. If you’re just a watcher of the show and not on the internet, the vibe for him seems to be really positive especially because of his history.

IA aek. I think that most of the Tweeters bashing Danny are people that spend a lot of time on the Internet, including websites, where the majority of people constantly hate on Danny. These are the people that are posting every night how much they hate Danny and his set. I think that it’s a very small number compared to the people that care about him.

You can’t go by youtube videos to tell the difference in cheers. Just about everyone at the shows who reported (including writers) said Adam did, in fact, get the loudest cheers. Kris and Danny were sometimes tied for second or second and third, interchangeable. Occasionally Allison third. Those are just the show crowds. Obviously, Kris has a bigger fanbase because he won.

Seriously. How many different ways can people Tweet that he’s copying Adam, or saying things like “What Hurts The Most” is Danny Gokey singing,over and over again. The Danny hating Tweeters are constantly saying that. I think that like another poster said, it might be best just not really much pay attention to those type of Tweets. He does not read music, and has an almost “photographic” memory when it comes to music. He can hear a piece of music and almost immediately play it

LOL Matt is a musical prodigy. Always knew how talented Matt is but this impressed me even more.

Danny also makes an appearance and there is links to megan and Lil interviews as well. There will be one for Danny and Adam as well.

Funny Adam was the first the get the faux hawk. His is grown out, but couple of the others, including Matt, have it now (did someone say Danny has it now?).

I like Adam’s look when he performed U2′s One – simply handsome. But Elvis or emo will also work. He can do anything with his hair and still look gorgeous.

I love it, too. I didn’t at first, but it’s grown on me. I think he looks like a cross between sophisticated and innocent with his hair that way, if that’s possible! I saw the show in Oakland and in Tulsa and Danny’s live performance is really good. I really do hope he gets a contract but I think that the better and better Matt does in reviews is putting Danny further and further away from a contract. I hope I am wrong.

I don’t see too much correlation between the two, I think it’s very probable that Danny will get some kind of deal when his contract with 19 expires. He has a big established fanbase and that’s pretty valuable for any label.

I like Adam’s look when he performed U2′s One – simply handsome. But Elvis or emo will also work. He can do anything with his hair and still look gorgeous.

I thought he looked so adorable that night — and so much more innocent-looking. I loved his smile. Even tho I didn’t care for the song (Adam didn’t either), that was one of my fave nites for his eyes, smile.

Ok, that was in fact, Heartless. Oh no, there are soldiers underwater somewhere. Maybe Navy Seals?

Adam and Kris can usually be heard pretty well through even really bad cell casts. But not so much tonight! Everyone has souded like some sort of huge underwater creature

I remember in the interview with his hairdresser she said she would fly out to him a few times during the concerts to color his hair and give him a haircut. I think she needs to do it NOW. I like him to occasionally throw the Elvis hair in but this past week has been Elvis Hair Overload IMO.

Check out this link. It came from Q3 or Sunn? can’t remember which – a few days ago. It rocks! It converts video to mp3 and dumps directly into iTunes (or whatever default music program is on your computer). I now have several concert playlists on my iPod. It is heaven.

Danny fans, pay no attention to those silly tweeters. Danny gets lots of love. I think his fans are just a little quieter than Adam’s fans. Wish those Adam fans on the internet wouldn’t hate on Danny, though. It gives us Adam lovers a bad name.

I liked Danny on show most of the time. He was fairly consistent till rock week. I love Allison, though. My dream finale was between Allison and Adam, with Allison winning. Adam didn’t need to win to go far. This concert series and the reviews have set the tone. Now we’re just waiting fro the CD…..

Funny Adam was the first the get the faux hawk. His is grown out, but couple of the others, including Matt, have it now (did someone say Danny has it now?).

My sample size is actually large because I am a teacher. I teach 6-12 graders, and converse with many teachers, also. Danny and Adam were the only two that any of the people I talked with liked…until after Danny left, anyway.

When I went to the three concerts in GA and NC, almost all Adam fans I spoke to either liked Danny second, or said that they thought he was the 2nd best singer. The Adam fans I met were overwhelmingly positive toward Danny…I was surprised, but only because of reading stuff online.

I am both a fan of Danny and Adam, myself. So it seems perfectly natural to me. I thoght they were the best singers this year and I still do.

The Elvis hair is incredibly dated looking. Wrong decade, waay too much product, and it doesn’t flatter his face (which, while gorgeous, is wide). I like the “emo” hair without a lot of product. That’s when he gives off the biggest rock star vibe. I can’t watch the YouTube videos when he does Elvis hair. It makes me cringe.

I liked the messy Elvis hair from the 2nd Newark show. Not a lot of product in it. It moved when he moved.

The Elvis hair for the 2nd Newark show was a mess. He was constantly moving it out of his face. It was really distracting to watch live.

I found the Newark audience to be surprisingly prudish. California wasn’t remotely phased by WLL and Bowie. Adam has definitely upped his dancing a bit during Bowie, but x-rated? lol. Adam would only get a PG-13 rating at the movies with those moves!

I’m kind of glad that Adam is letting it loose during these concerts. I think he’s turning off a lot of people who were casual fans, but he’s honing his audience. He’ll sell fewer CDs/concert tickets, but it will allow him to take a lot more risks in the future.

I saw Adam from about two feet with his Elvis hair, and his face didn’t look wide at all. He was even more gorgeous than I imagined him to be up close. I felt like I was in the presence of someone really, really special. His face is also much more delicate looking up close too.

I must admit I prefer Adam’s emo hair … but perhaps it’s grown a bit too long for that at the minute and he hasn’t had the time for a proper trim so he’s just slicking it back. Also it may take longer to flat iron it all and spike it into the emo style than it does to blow dry it back and smother it in product so it’s just more convenient ..

it’s probably a hell of a lot cooler for him if he’s getting all hot on stage .. and he needs it out of his eyes so that he can see and dodge all the underwear and fetish gear being thrown at him ….lol

Both nights roared for Adam. The second night the audience had one continuous applause from the time he came out through WLL. I doubt very much that the NY area is prudish.

Q3, that vid just shows that unless you are sitting close to the stage that you really have no idea how suggestive Adam is being during WLL with his hand gestures and mic move. Of course the vids we wait for are the ones that are close up and then the debate rages how un-PG-13 Adam is.

Children can attend and enjoy if they are seated further back and are completely unaware of any sexy/suggestive moves that Adam makes.

I have converted my boss to Adam though. Had him listen to some songs, he kinda liked him. Showed him the tour program, he said he looked like Marilyn Manson and was a little too scary looking. HOWEVER, he caught him on GMA on Friday and said he didn’t know who he was, asked his wife if it was a Jonas Brother’ ¦lol. She told him no, he’s an idol. He connected the dots, said that’s Cindy’s obsession!! and sat down and listened and loved Starlight. Came in this morning and he said, he looked really clean cut and he’s a really good looking guy, I understand it now. I told him and he sings too!! Then he said he loved the song. LOL’ ¦doing my little part to encourage Adam world domination..

Woohoo!!!!!!!! Messy hair’ ¦for some reason, I love it when he has to run his fingers through it to keep it back..it makes me LOL, cuz usually he’s so in control of everything’ ¦.but drat hair!!

I have to say that the Newark Bowie medley video hair is great, even though I usually like emo hair.

Ouch for a lot of the Idols. Interesting mix of what they enjoyed and what they didn’t. What I like is that I at least got the feeling that they actually attended.

Thanks Adamland and adam_lambert_rocks, really two different experiences.

Unfortunately, the same couldn’t be said for Matt Giraud, who somehow seemed like he was twice his age, doing “Hard to Handle”

I think that is because Matt style on this so is classic 1950′s Rock & Roll piano — very Jerry Lee Lewis – with no real updating. Fun but really not original or contemporary. I think Matt just needs to figure out who he is as an artist, and he’ll be great.

As promised I did want to share some highlights of the Idols concert I attended tonight and Im gonna be honest.

Let me start with Danny. Do you guys remember when Danny tweeted about how his voice was going horse? Well he wasnt lying. He sqeaked and squawked and in my opinion needs to learn to breathe correctly when he sings. Hes got to drink more water to keep his vocal chords moist too.

Adam: this is what Newsday said about the man I ADORE so dont get me wrong I have mad LOVE for him. I did get up at 3:30am to see him in central park and I wouldnt necessarily do that for most performers

“Lambert, on the other hand, is ready for stardom right now. He injected artistry and even some sexiness into a traditionally straightforward show. His vocal heroics and hip thrusts made Led Zeppelin’s “Whole Lotta Love” a blast, while the Prince-ly take on David Bowie’s “Let’s Dance” were pretty thrilling.”

The writer as you can see didnt mention “Starlight” by Muse nor did he mention Adams vocals on the song. Well Im gonna He hit some clunkers when he sang this. I told myself that hes been extremely busy while here in NY and its showing in his voice. Everything else is spot on and was perfect.

He sang baby, left out I want to be your back door man, and cut the song short. Other here have reported hearing longer versions.

He had Elvis hair that looked quite neat to me hes DROP DEAD GORGEOUS and has moves that would peek even Michael Jackson’s interest (may he rest in peace)

No bras, whips, chains or any other assorted soft s&m products were thrown at him Just a tee shirt like I posted earlier.
Nothing was thrown at Kris either. I thought this audience was pretty tame in comparison to other reviews Ive read on this blog.

Allison was perfect her vocals were spot on she was having fun up there and interacted well with the audience Megan should take lessons from her.

Scott was adorable his jokes were too. We got the inspirational speech from Dan but he got some mad love from the audience dispite the speech.
Michael mentioned that his wife was there. I did wonder if Katey or Neil were too.
You wanna talk about mad love. Let me tell you what happened when Kris took the stage. The place exploded! OMG it felt like thunder in there it was soooo loud.

and I wanna know where stevee oh found the buses cause I had to walk around the whole Coliseum to find my car and I didnt see them LOL

The review did talk alot about Adam’s performance, but It also talked about Danny and Allison’s performances being strong. Lil being stronger than on the show and possible an undiscovered gem like Jennifer Hudson. Talked about Matt’s performances being “too old” for him. Megan hitting “odd” notes. Talked about Anoop’s gorgeous take on “Always on my Mind”, Kris’s warm voice and being disappointed in his version of Heartless. I liked that song in concert, but I’ll agree that his version on the show, just him and the guitar was more powerful. The only two not mentioned about their singing were Michael and Scott and they weren’t mentioned at all.

I don’t agree with the way heworded his review because the competition is over, but just because a reviewer thought that Adam did well, doesn’t mean it’s some fanwank review.

The Newsday review was one guy’s opinion, but after that bizarre link between JHud and Lil you really gotta wonder. I also thought he was faulting Kris for being a different kind of entertainer than Adam, which is absurd. He’s never wanted to or tried to beat Adam at his own game, which is probably one reason he won. There’s only one Adam!

Let’s face it, there are critics who go into this thing as fans of Idol, and there are those who hate the whole trip. You’re gonna have two very different perspectives there.

Of course, us Idol nutjobs would always prefer a Idololgist like Michael Slezak as reviewer. Especially when he’s Kris fan too, in my case! I loved this from the Newark concert:

Anyone who thought Kris’ Idol success with that song owed more to the novelty of hearing Kanye West stripped to his acoustic bones than to the eventual Idol champ’s actual vocal should take note that the number remains as fresh and delicious as a home-grown tomato. And perhaps just as impressive: Kris was more than up to the task of tackling The Killers’ ‘All These Things That I’ve Done,’  which hopefully means the good folks at Jive won’t try to shackle him in the bland A.C. dungeon (which, sadly, he did to himself during a forgettable cover of Matchbox 20′s ‘Bright Lights’ ). Kris’ other two songs ‘” a reprise of ‘Ain’t No Sunshine’  and a new cover of ‘Hey Jude’  ‘” proved he’s got a knack for reinvigorating old-school jams in a way that speaks to everyone from screaming tweens to middle-aged dads (many of whom were on their feet and singing along during the latter track). After a very annoying evening elsewhere, crashing on the couch and reading this thread LOLed me back into a good humor. I swear, these have to be better than going to the actual concert (making lemonade out of lemons, as it were). So my considered opinion on the great hair debates of 2009:

- moveable hair is best, as someone said upthread. Elvis a la Newark.

- main problem other than motility, is that Elvis doesn’t go with the jacket. If he could Elviate it when the jacket comes off, that would be great, but that’s probably impossible with whatever that alien substance is that his hair is apparently made of

- since I don’t like Elvis the singer, I tend to think of Elvis the hair as pre-emo Adam (preemo Adam?). As it grows and approximates the hair in, say, that Prayer video of scrubbed up Adam, it looks good. But still doesn’t go with the jacket.

- but even the Emo is best when it’s somewhat scruffed and moveable. Emo a la Satisfaction or any of the latter woodpecker versions on tour.

Aww, glad to hear that Kris got alotta love tonight. I always liked him, but after hearing him live I’m totally hooked. He did sound rich and warm, though I didn’t think “tomato” lol, but I did think “sexy”.

I liked Slezak’s review too, it was very complimentary. He is a huge fanboy of AI though, so I expected nothing less. I like to read those reviews that are done by regular concert reviewers, positive or negative to my favorite and the others. As long as the reviewer actually professes some iota of believablity that they actually attended, I’m interested in their opinions.

ITA. Slezak is a good writer, so I always find him fun to read, but otherwise, I don’t have much use for the reviews that are written by people with a lot of Idol investment. Or rather, I don’t read them as regular reviews. Part of the point of this tour is to just thank the fans with a live, idolesque performance. But part of it is to show themselves as embryonic real performers. So the most interesting reviews to me are the ones that come in unbiased about the individuals, but with no rose-colored Idol glasses about the show – people who try to use real world standards to judge. I may not agree, but I like to get that opinion. And for some music critics, that may be the only way they can do that. As long as they’re giving an honest evaluation of what they heard, it’s good information.

My favorite Adam hairstyle was audition week. I pretty much like all of his hairstyle’s except for when he was on the red carpet, right after AI was over for some awards show. Sorry I can’t name it. Anyway, he usually does no wrong by me. lol.

Well not surprised to hear that Kris got a great reception. Again, whenever you can hear it through the crap of a cellcast, you know it’s going to be good. Glad to hear.

Sure the title is “The Competition Never Ends,” but I didn’t get that this person was doing only a Kris vs. Adam thing. They were saying that people still have to prove themselves in putting on a show, now that the show is over. And according to this reviewer, Kris didn’t put on a good show/live up to what he needed to do. Adam did for this guy, but also this reviewer felt that Allison, Danny, Lil and Anoop in parts, also did well in putting on a good show, or parts of a show. Matt and Megan, less so. Now anyone that says that Lil is good and Matt sucks, automatically gets my ‘hmmm, really?’ Nevermind that I like Kris and assume he put on a good show tonight, because it seems to me, he usually does. But I wasn’t there and this guy clearly has his own tastes. Just like every reviewer professional or otherwise. But I didn’t see this as one of those lame Adam vs. Kris reviews to me.

Plus he got cool points for not referring to Adam’s being gay as part of reviewing him and didn’t use words like “flamboyant.”

I vote 4 emo! Actually any style is great but my absolute fave is emo.Ohhhhhhhhhh and ny has 8 million people that’s why they get four concerts :doh_tb: TOTALLY off topic but I gagged a little when I saw ilovemiley is the #1 trending topic on twitter. This is one of the first times I will be watching concert videos. I didn’t want 2 watch too many b4 my concert.

Let the reviewers say what they have to say. That’s their job. It will pass and it will not affect any of the idol’s future. The top 4 or 5 have a strong and huge fanbase.

One of the tweeters, Stephhhx3 seems to be so bitter tonite. She called all the idols jerks except Megan. Maybe not all the idols, though they came out, were able to get through the whole line. I thought she was referring to Adam as a complete a*** since he didn’t come out. It turned out to be Danny. Poor Danny. He’s been the most accomodating and then he gets this kind of impression. This maybe one of the reasons why Adam doesn’t like the barricade thing. There’s less interaction and fans will misinterpret your actions.

I don’t know. They said that the idols positively rushed through the signings. I dislike Danny… a lot.. but I doubt he purposely slighted a young girl.

The only complaint I would have with the Newsday review is that he couched it in the idea that Adam and Kris are still competing head to head. Which they aren’t — or at least shouldn’t be. The rest — that he felt Kris didn’t live up to whatever he was expecting from him, while Adam, Allison and Danny did, is fine. His opinion. I just wish he hadn’t gone with the competition angle.

Sounds fishy to me…why would he do that? I wonder if we are hearing the whole story…Danny is always very cordial to the fans. I wonder if there was something about this particular poster…or something else that she’s not telling us…that made him do that? If they were ALL jerks to her, I’d say it was a “her” problem.

Regarding stephhx3′s trauma…I’ve never liked Danny much but this girl is so OTT I have to believe he is in the right. Just supposition but if she was trying to get Danny to sign her Kradam sign and he walked away, there could have been something offensive about the sign itself. When fans have asked Danny to sign different things in the past, he’s been very careful to read them first and make sure it’s a sentiment or group he doesn’t disagree with. If she’s one of the tinhat Kradam fans, it could have been an extremely offensive sign.

If this keeps up (about Danny) I am guessing there might be a little “Take the Heat off of Adam in Twitterville” campaign going on. I have not read or heard one word about Danny being anything other than warm and gracious with fans, so a sudden epidemic of reports otherwise would seem quite strange and suspect to me.

ETA: I just want to be clear that I’m not talking about anyone here, I’m talking about kids on twitter.

The tinhatters from ontd_ai are some of the sanest Adam and Kris fans on the internet and their signs aren’t offensive at all. They’re usually just “Kradam is Love” or a similar slogan, some glitter and pictures of Kris and Adam hugging. Steph is not a tinhatter.

Just finished reading through the concert thread and tweets, seems like it was a relatively calm night in Long Island.

I’m ignoring the Danny drama tweets.

I’ve always said Starlight sounded bad. It sounds very nasally/whiney. Like he’s singing through his nose. But he knows better than that. Miley Cyrus sings through her nose..

Okay, I’m not believing that person against Danny. Sounds like a nutjob and here is where Twitter becomes the devil again. One person having a Twitter meltdown, doesn’t reality make.

His opinion. I just wish he hadn’t gone with the competition angle.

Well yeah, but I don’t think it was just Adam vs. Kris as the competition, so that’s why I didn’t have a problem with it. Because I hear ya, that along with pointless references to Adam’s sexuality, are among my least favourite things in reviews. But while this guy used the word competition and yes, that does conjure up that dreaded and stupid Kris vs. Adam thing, I felt this guy was putting in a different, broader context by going through saying whether each performer (well with missing two names) rose to the challenge of the show. And yeah, still not getting the Lil love, but okay. I’ve seen that twice now, so there ya go.

Good twitter news is that I can only find 3 negative tweets tonight regarding Adam not going out to the Barricardes, including Stephhhx3, who appears to have some issues. There could be more but mostly support tweets or thanks for the great concert performance.

Here is the thing, their were Alot of people at their tonight..the idols are not going to get to every single fan..plus, they have to leave by like midnight…

It sounds like the idols were in a rush, and probably ended up skipping people, and maybe weren’t as friendly as usual.

About the Rolling Stone mag, I’ve seen photogrpahic evidence that Danny signed one before, but who knows?

Maybe in a rush, he tried to prioritize and sign for his actual fans? I don’t know. I’ve watched him sign and pose for pics three separate times, and he was friendly and accomodating to everyone. He’s even hugged people who told him they hated him. I don’t know….weird stuff.

Yikes. This is actually the first time I’ve heard bum notes from Adam. Others times when I’ve listed to Starlight and it might have been too high or whatever, but in terms of hitting the actual notes he was fine at. But yeah, he had a few bum notes on this one. Oh BB Adam, it happens to us all. I’m sure he realized it himself and was probably disappointed in it. He certainly has been cognizant and critical of his vocal missteps before.

And Allison has trouble sleeping on the tour bus. Poor girl must be so exhausted.

Well a person here said there were some clunker notes, and yeah, having heard that YouTube, I would say I have to agree the person here. And this will be the first bad Starlight I’ve heard as I’m a fan. But hey, it happens to everyone. I do not hold Adam to some impossibly high standard where he and he alone has to be ZOMG AMAZING!!1!1! and perfect every night. That reminds me of that person’s Twitter the night before, who said basically ‘of course she judged Adam to a higher standard. Yes it was unfair, but oh well.’ pffft. Adam is human and has made vocal mistakes before, he would be the first to admit to them and cring at them. And will in the future. It happens. Eh.

He’s definitely hitting more notes in the lower register tonight. I saw an interview where he said he was consciously not hitting as many sky high notes, trying to fit those notes in where they have the most impact, so he can stay fresh for every performance. Those vids weren’t great quality, but I can tell where he’s sounding a little strained. Hope he and the others rest up while they have the chance.

The Starlight that I heard live in Memphis is the single best live pop/rocal vocal performance I have ever heard live. Not technically in the league of the great classical tenors, Pavorotti and Domingo, but truly breathtaking. Based on the videos from some of the other concerts, the quality of Starlight ranges from good to great (most of the time) to amazing (3 concerts).

In the clip of tonight’s performance, Adam seems to have missed 3 high notes. I’ll wait for a better video, but that seems like vocal fatigue not poor technique. And yes Adam does have great vocal technique and breath conrol, and never sings thru his nose.

I’m not sure if this was mentioned but there are 5 good video interviews with Adam, Allison, Danny, Scott and Michael along the side of that interview. They were conducted by somone other than the guy who wrote the article. You can tell when they get a good interviewer because all the Idols end up giving better answers.

But ummm, who sent out the memo that they were all supposed to wear brown? Too funny.

Yeah, I know allison said that she is trying to save her voice, especially when they do three or four shows in a row…so Its good that adam is trying to save it

I read that Newsday article and from some of the comments, i was expecting something really bad but it didn’t really say anything too mean. I just disagreed with most of it, mainly the part about Lil being the next J Hud. Umm. no.

There must be something wrong with my ears, which is very possible, because I didn’t hear any bum notes in that clip. I heard a less than stellar recording, an audience member yelping at one point, but no bum notes.

I’ve been watching Adam pre idol music . I come back and see starlight wasn’t good? Gasp. At the concert I went to in D. C it was AMAZIND I LOVED and absoltely ADORED starlight. Ill be brave and watch the video. :!

I would think all 3(aka) are all recording in N.Y.Just because no tweets or news of it doesn’t mean kris and adam were off today.I thought that 1st vid of WLL had some clunkers in it.I just don’t like to go there most times.I know how hard it is when ALLISON doesn’t sound her best to me.Bad news is still lots of tour dates left.

This is the way I also understood the review. I don’t think he said anything bad about Kris, he meant he still has some work to do about performing. But he did mention something about his song choice which I don;t agree with. Kris, Adam and Allison’s set on the tour really showcase the direction they are going to take on their albums. And I hate the his headline. No one is in competition anymore and that headline puts him in Kris’ description of those who compare him and Adam. I will not say the word.
Again this is English language, and one needs to read with care.

This! There is a difference between using a falsetto and headvoice and being nasally. And he hasn’t been nasally in any Starlight I’ve heard, not even in that performance where I agree, he hit some bad notes. And it happens. Eh. I’ve heard everyone miss notes, Kris, Allison, Danny, everyone. That or be flat or sharp, or whatever. It happens because we haven’t set up those animatronic Idols we need! If we need to have perfection, than this is what we need to do. Let’s thaw Walt’s head and get him started on this right now!

Interesting that as they are at the halfway concert mark, some of the tiredness is starting to show – Anoop is ready for the tour to be over, Adam and Kris are having problems with the screaming and touching fans, Allison is tired of the songs and can’t sleep, Michael has periodic emo twitter moments, Danny and Matt are no doubt just holding on till they get signed, Megan must be sick of the audience not responding to her nightly attempts to get them to show some energy for her, not sure about Scott and Lil, but I cant say I blame any of them….

The Starlight clip could just be a bad recording, but the first 3 high notes are off. I ran it thru a sound mix/editting program just to see if it was audio distortion but it doesn’t seem to be. I’m certain that a better video will turn up. And it could be like the Newark Mad World — it was odd in some of the audio tracks because there was a horrible echo in that place. Some of the recordings made it sound like a Adam with Adam duet.

But they aren’t on the second full WLL video. Just a guess but I think there may be sound engineering issues with tonights concert and/or odd acoustics. I have never been to this arena so maybe someone who was at the concert can explain.

I almost didn’t listen to this, and sort of held my breath waiting for clunkers everyone talked about … but all I heard was Adam replacing maybe two or three of some of the more rangey notes with a lowered note. Different, not as impressive as some previous versions, but to my ear not musically bad notes.

Although YMMV since it’s not like I’m a musical professional or anything, and I could just be blinded by how much I love his voice no matter what he sings … yeah, I play Want on purpose on my iPod, I’m not ashamed, LOL.

I love Starlight. I listen to it daily. There. I’ve confessed it. Love to you all, fellow and sister Idol fanatics! And I mean that in a good way.

Greetings fellow starlight addict. It’s the reason I stay up every concert night, so that I can hear what he’s done new and different with it. Where has he decided to not execute the high note? Where has he changed inflection and added more emotion? And through it all, the gorgeous, beautiful voice rings out, caressing me and carrying me away. I’m praying for a really good version of it at my tour stop. I’m not expecting great, not expecting him to hit the high notes because they have another show the next night. But dang, it’s be nice if he did.

Anyway, as I think folks must have reported already, yes, it was Drake who threw something white (could have been a t-shirt, or possibly boxers – sorry, couldn’t make it out) at Adam towards the end of the Bowie Medley, right into his smiling face!! It was funny to watch because you could see that during Slow Ride Drake had this “white thing” in his hand, and Allison saw it and even came towards him, like she thought he was going to throw it, and he didn’t. It wasn’t until later, when Adam was standing near him, during “Let’s Dance,” that he threw it up, and Adam caught it in his hand, up near his face! Priceless moment!

Good thing he caught it and didnt hit him on the face.

Just curious… how do we know Allison’s level of insomia? Heh. I ask because I’m still up and I would never think to apply my sleep habits to anyone else.

Yes, me too. In fact I have a collection of my favorite 4 Starlight versions so I can listen to it more often. It’s my favorite Adam performance.

And regading Adam can do no wrong — I was at the Memphis concert and it was wonderful, but Adam blew the end of “Let’s Dance” that night. At the concert no one cared, and I didn’t even notice it until I watched the video — 24 hours later.

RE: Starlight clip – I will have to hear better audio to tell – that’s not a good clip.

While I wait for a watchable/listenable copy of DSB and hopefully “Hey Jude”, I wonder if someone can shed some light on something.

This clip of Kris doing “Bright Lights” is for the itunes package. It seems “sanitized” – like it was recorded before or after the concert began/ended – we know his opening isn’t before this song. I know there was an AI crew at one of the stops (I forget which one). Am I crazy or do they have them perform specifically for a recorded performance?

I’ve read a few of the most popular Idol related forums, and something I’ve noticed is that the ontd_ai girls are the only ones with a sense of humor about themselves.

I love ontd_ai. The poster are funny and good natured. Hostility towards the idols, apart from Gokey, is not tolerated, which makes for a relaxing an lulz worthy read.

When I’m bored, ontd_ai is my resort of choice. I just love side-splittingly hysterical gang.

I was kidding about Adam doing no wrong and yeah I’m sure he knows a lot of mistakes he’s making that we don’t notice.

Both nights roared for Adam. The second night the audience had one continuous applause from the time he came out through WLL. I doubt very much that the NY area is prudish.

Not where I was sitting, unfortunately. (I did in fact go to the concerts.) People went pretty silent for Bowie, it was weird. In LA and San Diego people screamed their heads off through the entire medley. I tried the other night, but felt pretty out of place. Maybe I just noticed it because there was a huge difference.

It’s interesting that Starlight is the most polarizing song of Adam’s set–it’s the RoF of his set, basically (this isn’t about the specific performance tonight–there seems to be some disagreement about whether he was a bit off or the sound was off, either’s possible–but about the song in general as part of his set).

It’s weird, people seem to either think it’s unpleasantly discordant or whiny or musical theaterish, or they think it’s a completely, unbelievably gorgeous song, incredibly haunting, one of their favorites of his set.

I dunno–I love Muse, I love that song, I love Adam’s version of that song, even more than Bellamy’s (whom I adore), I think–I do find it hauntingly beautiful and eerie, both in terms of the music itself and way Adam sings it.

But it’s a pretty odd, melodically unusual song, and Adam’s vocals definitely play that up, and I can easily see why it wouldn’t be everyone’s cup of tea.

And yes, ontd_ai in general is awesome. They have a lot of love, but non-crazy love for most of these guys, especially Adam and Kris.

Adam said in a recent video interview – I can’t remember which one – Adam said they had recorded some of the live concert numbers for iTunes release, but that’s all he said.

I’ve finally decided that I love all three versions of Starlight — Matt Bellamy’s, and both of Adams versions. But right now, the GMA Starlight is the one I love the most. I really would like to have a studio recording of both Adam versions, too. (At least it looks like they plan to release iTunes live version of at least some of the concert.)

I also have a sexy stripped down version of Ring of Fire on my Adam wish list, but I don’t think I’m going to get that!

I checked the videos and Adam needs to rest his voice. All of them do. I think only Sarver, Megan and Matt are doing ok. But the rest need to drink a lot of water and be on vocal rest ASAP.
On a side note ONTD tinhatters are crazy! I don’t go there no more. The Kradam fangirl is delusional imo.

Pj, I’m not giving much thought to your challenge of my comment. I mean, Why! Scratch everything I said. Allsion stated that she could not sleep on the bus. With her demanding schedule, inability to sleep on the bus probably interferes with her functioning at her highest level. At times, she may even become exhausted and exasperated.

It looked like Adam’s reflexes kept him from getting smacked in the face with the tee shirt. That was a bad call to throw it during that song and at that time.

Sorry guys, but this is exactly how Adam has been singing this song recently. (Like Sunn, I’m a Starlight fantard as well.) In Newark, he sung the song the exact same way. This was a static-y and bad recording, but he didn’t hit any notes I don’t think he intended to hit. To save his voice, Adam is not belting this song out anymore. It’s pretty different than earlier tour versions. He’s hitting a slightly higher key and using more nuance in his vocals. All those key changes, falsettos, etc. are intentional. I guess it is either your cup of tea or not.

ETA: It’s okay. Slezak didn’t like it either and I was there and he didn’t hit any bum notes.

Regarding the hair. I got a few responses! Oops. You know I love Adam (and I think he’s gorgeous), but … I stick by my first statement. Those who say they love his hair pushed back so they can see his beautiful face sound like my grandmother. It’s not a rock look at all and Adam wants to be a rock star. It also, as webster wisely pointed out, doesn’t go with the jacket. It did go better with his GMA outfit, but oh the massive amounts of hair gel (brylcreem?)… (I still get horrible flashbacks to the painful Young Hoillywood Awards look.)
