Only three comments on the Idols live thread. Sigh #itsallaboutthejudgesnow

I agree roarpen I think its really sad that people are more interested in who will judge than the idols concert. For me its always about the Idols & I think this bunch is very talented & i like to see how they improve during the tour.

    Loved Michael Orlands enthusiastic tweets.

I’m afraid so. I won’t lie, I don’t care that much about the S11 crop. Unfortunately the way they were showcased didn’t allow me to connect, so I eventually tuned out.

“I don’t care that much about the S11 crop.”

Same here, Sue. Only two of them, Erika and Elise, sing music in a style I am liable to buy later – but that’s later…if they even get the opportunity to put out material of their own.

Eh – Same sort of thing happened last season – and I did buy CaseyA and Haley’s CD’s, but no one else in that season interested me either. Still, that was better than Seasons Eight and Nine – I didn’t buy anything, or follow anyone, for those two years. Well, almost CaseyJ, until he went too country on me. Heh.

I hope they all have a great tour; they are a talented group, it just doesn’t translate to Entertaining, for me, and those Very Young People have a long way to go, and a lot to learn. I can’t work up any enthusiasm for posting about it more than sporadically.

What is there to say now? We all know their songs and how they are singing them.

I also feel like a lot of people had something against Season 11 from the beginning. A lot weren’t willing to forgive the show after the poorly edited audition episodes that didn’t showcase the talent. Its too bad, because this season ended up so talented. But I think the first impressions of the season turned a lot of people off, unfortunately. I also think the buzz about the lower ratings made a lot of people assume that the show was doing something wrong.

I’ve been following the live tweets almost every night, or when I can, but again, what is there to say?  They perform the same songs night after night so unless something crazy happens there isn’t much to post about.  With a case like last night while you have Michael Orland tweeting, when I love him, you obviously know he’s only going to gush over his babies.  I certainly wasn’t expecting him to say anything other than how much he loves them all.

Also for all the doom and gloom, it seems like they have been drawing good crowds in California.

This is the first year I just haven’t been able to get interested in the tour.  It’s really bad to think even the S9 tour kept my attention more.

The tour is not going to define anyone’s career.  There really isn’t much to say when it basically is the same set every show.  And there is 40 something shows. The crowds in LA and Ontario sounded really enthusiastic. I am much more interested in Phillip’s video of Home and news about his CD.

Been following Jessica’s and Joshua’s performances everyday to see how well they do. Joshua’s It’s Man’s World got so much better than it already was! Especially his Nokia Theatre performance. And he’s developing this appeal when he sings it. Jessica has started to do different runs at the end of How Come You Don’t Call Me. There was also a funny moment when Jessica came out for I Knew You Were Waiting. She left her huge hair clip on accidentally. She was all so serious until Josh pointed it out. They were smiling and laughing all the way through the song!

I’m sure there were more moments with the other contestants but the J’s are the ones I’m following.

I think there are less comments on these threads because you can just read the live tweets to see what’s going on. In the majority of the past seasons, MJ didn’t have this “cover it live” tweet thing, so there was a lot more speculation in the threads about what was happening at the concert.

And honestly, after the first couple of shows, the novelty has worn off. Nothing really changes from show to show, so unless something unusual happens — someone gets ill, something goes wrong during the concert, etc., what is there really to talk about?

For example, during the S8 tour (the only one I have gone to see), there was the hubhub about Kris dropping NoBo from his set, the hoopla about whether Adam would or wouldn’t come out to the M&Gs, all the stuff about the various objects being thrown on stage at the Idols (mainly, but not exclusively, during Adam’s set), Kris’ grandmother dying, the whole “what pronoun will Adam use when he sings WLL” speculation, the discussion about what people thought of Danny’s little speech during his set, and then near the end of tour, pretty much everybody getting ill, resulting in Kris actually missing one show.

So far this year, there hasn’t really been that sort of stuff going on. As long as everyone stays healthy, what is there to talk about? Colton getting to play an original song is old news now, and since Phillip’s health thankfully seems to be holding up pretty well, there doesn’t seem to be anything going on to discuss.

    Reminder:

The thread is not the topic here.

Please keep the discussion focused on last night’s concert and the tour in general, not on who is or is not posting in the thread. Thanks.

Great to see some more videos-thanks MJ. Can’t get enough of seeing Colton’s new single Never Gone. Had to laugh at Michael Orland saying he wasn’t going to tell any more bird jokes to Colton-[obviously referring to his hair]

  • blackberryharvest

Glad to see how much Michael Orland supports ALL the contestants from idol.

I got a video of Colton (and the crowd) singing Happy Birthday to his dad in Ontario.  http://youtu.be/HQqtKmlNjY4  This was between Meant to Live and Never Gone.  The video is short and basically just the back of Colton’s head, but it’s still cute IMO.  I was in the front row stage left, and his family was stage right, but every once in a while I’d glance over at them.  It was fun watching them watch the show.
