I wonder why Mike has more songs than Casey even though Casey had a higher place than he did? Maybe Casey has one more song and we just don’t know it yet. I hope so!

Wow, I am so not excited for this tour.

Is Crystal only singing her original when she’s in her hometown?

My guess Molly is that Mike’s four songs include the duet with Casey, therefore they will each of three ind. songs and their duet. At least I hope this is the case.

It also looks like it’s been confirmed that Lee will only have 5 ind. songs and a duet. I’m thinking that if he does do Hallelujah, this may be the last one and the other idols may join him? We’ll see.

Also, it will be interesting to see how Didi does with opening the show since she’s so soft spoken. Chekizee (sp?) and Michael each did a fabulous job getting the crowd going the past two yrs.

I’m excited to find out more after tonight and quite hopeful.

I’m an admitted Casey fan but unless Casey’s guitar playing is a major part of the Group song it does sound unfair to me since both Aaron and Siobhan also get three songs. Plus his duet with Mike was a song chosen by Mike and not a Casey choice although Casey does great on it. Well, I hope we get lots of firsthand reports tonight. Good luck to them all.

I have a feeling that the songs Casey is doing might be longer (perhaps some guitar solos?) and thus take up more time than four shorter songs would. Either that or it’s a misunderstanding. I’m a Casey fan, and it doesn’t bother me either way; Casey himself said he didn’t like having to cut down songs on the show, so maybe this is his remedy for that.

5 songs for Lee is pretty much the norm for winners the last couple of years, and I think 3 for the runner-up sounds about right too.

“4 songs” comes from something Mike said in an interview. It could include the Casey duet.

The runner-up, Crystal, should have one less song than Lee. I believe she will have four songs plus the “Falling Slowly” duet. I’ll be surprised if she doesn’t include “Me and Bobby McGee” because it was a fan favorite. Also, she can really rock that song and she mentioned in a Detroit news article today that she wanted her set to be upbeat. I wonder if she’s required by AI to do “Up to the Mountain”?

BTW, someone mentioned on another board that Lee and Crystal’s “Falling Slowly” was featured on “As The World Turns” yesterday.

I hope Casey gets at least 3 songs of his own. If not, that’s really not fair or right.

Also, I’m surprised Lee is doing 5 songs PLUS a duet? That’s more than David Cook did in his Idol Tour! That seems surprising. (and David had to include Time of My Life)

I’m looking forward to hearing the reviews and recaps of the tour.

Not all songs are the same length. I could see Casey doing 3 longer songs (bring on the guitar solos!) and Mike doing more, but shorter songs.

Ughhh, I hope Lee doesn’t sing Hallelujah. They should go back to the season 6 tour format. I liked that better. Why wouldn’t Lee sing Beautiful Day? Isn’t that his single?

I remember that Danny got four songs last year so I’m assuming that Casey will have three solo songs plus a duet with Mike. It appears that the duet is shorting him a solo song

I would be surprised if Mike’s 4 songs didn’t include a duet, and most certainly a duet with Casey.

I’m thinking Casey and Mike both have the same number of songs – 4 including the duet with each other. Then 5 for Chrystal, including the duet, and 6 for Lee including the duet.

No way they’d give Mike more than Casey. I mean, Mike is not better or more popular, imo. And in S5, for instance, they never gave Daughtry more songs, even though he was def one of the big attractions and favs that year.

So not interested in this tour at all. I’m curious as to how it goes tonight, so will be following MJs always FABULOUS tour coverage for at least the first few days. But the songs and contestants are major snooze-fests. Though to be fair, last year looked like a lot of DNW too from the likes of Michael, Scott, Megan, Lil, Danny and Anoop, so who am I to judge, I guess.

So, I’ll probably follow the first few nights, and look at some vids and tweets just to see how it goes. Wish them the best. Also guessing Hallelujah from Lee will be a much more stripped down version, since he can hardly bring the freaking chorus and trumpet section on tour with him.

I thought so too. Was very surprised to hear Lee was getting 6 songs. Kris and Cook’s sets from the last two years seemed like more than enough time for the winners, and they are both leagues better than Lee, imo. So, um, yeah – as a non-Lee fan, this news gave me no extra enticement to actually see the tour this year.

But a friend pointed out that Lee may be by far the biggest draw this year (think previous years were more spread out among a number of contestants). The single sales would certainly suggest that, so that might be why they decided to do it, I guess.

So, is there any other group number? Right before intermission? I’m expecting yes, since it sounds like this year is very similar in format to last year.

Springboard - I’m sure she can – that’s actually not so much what I’m worried about. I had issues with her song interpretations on AI. She started off so promisingly on AI (I was a fan during the semi-final rounds and through PIB), but she lost me later on with draggy, listless interpretations of Across the Universe and other songs that just left me feeling no emotional connection with the material. That’s all I meant.

The AI tour is not governed by some immutable law, ya know. According to Wikipedia, Jordin sang 6 solos and 2 duets on the S6 tour. It’s different every year.

Yeah, me too. It’s too bad really. She had so much promise, and then seemed to just lose her way once the top 12 theme weeks started. I think she just wasn’t as comfortable with her musical style yet. But she is very unique. In the past, all the contestants are so much better, more relaxed, more natural, on tour. Matt improved by LEAGUES on tour last year. So, I think she will do well.

I’d say Paint it Black is pretty much a given. She said it was something that worked out well on the show. The only ones that got real good reviews from the judges were her first 3 performances (Wicked Game, Think, & HOTRS) She won’t do the first or last of those, because they just wouldnt be something “for the fans” and are too slow I think for the tour. What more can you do with Think? And it also can’t be anything past Top 12, cause not much you can do with Superstition full and same to Across the Universe – too slow. Can’t be any man of mine cause why would she sing what got her voted off? or that week at least. So it’s PIB

Ugh, Lee is probably doing Use Somebody. But why should I care? I’m not going to any date and I’ll skip the video if he does it.

On the other hand, can’t wait to hear which Muse song Siobhan is doing! I’m guessing it is Stockholm Syndrome or Unintended. This is the one song that I’m most excited to find out about.

And Tim Urban will absolutely murder Viva La Vida, if he is doing it. It’s a song that only Chris Martin can pull off.

Actually Taylor started the tour with 8 songs because Kat was out with vocal cord issues for several shows..then he reduced to 6 songs..

why buy a ticket then? I just rather not go if it know it’s going to be not my cuppa. I can’t imagine anyone who watched the show not knowing what they are getting into.

lol I mentioned Stockholm Syndrome here as a possible cover when I found out that she was going to cover Muse. That’s one of my favorites. Can’t wait to listen to her singing that song.
