*Watch this space for updates*

The American Idol 9 Top 10 are speaking with the press out in Los Angeles today. There will be tons of interviews and photos coming, so watch out.

The kids performed an acoustic version of their group number for the press. This year, they’re singing “My Life Would Suck Without You” by Kelly Clarkson.   I like that…keeping it in the family!

4th Update: Adding Zap2it.com video, Lee DeWyze and Andrew Garcia interview (read more).  Short Katie clip (read more)

3rd Update: From Zap2it.com – Embedded longer video after the jump. The Idols did two takes of MLWSWY.

There was some confusion over where everyone would stand for the impromptu performance. Everyone wanted to stand next to Siobhan Magnus, but in the end, Lee DeWyze got the honor. (We guess there are some benefits to being the “American Idol” winner, though everyone swears he gets treated the same as the rest of them.)

2nd UPDATE: I have two versions of  “My Life Would Suck Without You” after the jump.  Check out Lyndsey Parker’s take HERE.  Plus, a little snip of the Idols goofing around on “Blister in the Sun”

The kids certainly need more rehearsal, but I remember last year’s “Don’t Stop Believing”, sung with only piano accompaniment, also being a little rough around the edges.

UPDATE: Added interview with Good Day LA

I think they need to close Mike’s mic because he is the one ruining the harmony. I don’t know why he is extending the words so much if he is struggling to hit the note! The other guys are keeping it low key which is better because the song is too high for them. The girls are doing a great job with the harmony and I expected them to do so since it’s a song designed for a girl.

I totally agree with this, whatever. His voice is definitely the one that stands out as the “off” voice. Unfortunately, he doesn’t strike me as the type who can/will tone it down.

MLWSWY was awful >”<. They should sing "Keepin' the dream alive" like in Top 7 night. It's a not well-known but great song like "Don't stop believing". It has some BIG notes for Crystal and Siobhan, too.
Oh and I feel sorry for Siobhan's bf.

Well those numbers certainly put the suck back in My Life Would Suck Without You.

Oy to the vey. That was baaaaaaaaaaad.

The interview was kind of cute though.

Maybe they won’t suck as much singing with more practice.

    Maybe.

If I haven’t said it before-thanks MJ for all the work you do every season to get this stuff up on your blog. :)

The “zap2it” video of all of them singing MLWSWY was definitely better, then the “yahoo” video. Their voices blended much better the 2nd time. They have a couple of more weeks to work it out, I am sure by then it will sound even better. I suspect that they will have the band accompanying them, and they will have some choreography (or at least they will move a little on the stage, but we do not need jumping around, not wanting or expecting that). They are only doing 2 group numbers, which was a good decision. Most of us are going to hear them sing as individuals-and hopefully really see what type of artists they are trying to become!! Cheers:):)

Wow, that was pretty boring. I guess it is only practice.

This is a rehearsal … it was warned to be rough … and I thought it was great that we could be a part of the process! Keep ‘em coming, Mr. Rushfield … and MJ … love it! Further, I am enjoying this GROUP so much more than last year. They look like one big happy family … no one is break out big (like Adam last year) … and they all just seem to truly like each other. Love the banter about the ‘baby band.’ Looking forward to the tour this year!

Aaron Kelly looks like the banjo playing kid in Deliverance.

I’m not a fan of any song with Suck in the title but that sounded pretty good. Remind me again why they have to lip sync the group numbers on the show?
