American Idols Live! 2008 – Tulsa, OK

Thanks for all the great videos over the course of the tour, mj. I wasn’t able to get to one of the concerts in person this year, so I appreciated how you covered the sets of the different idols.

I don’t much like the til next year part….I never want it to end this year. It’s been amazing, the first time I’ve ever invested in American Idol. I thank you immensely MJ for helping to feed my obsession :clap_tb:

Supposedly DC offered a rose to MJ(ohns) during It’s All Wrong But It’s All Right.There may also have been silly string involved, heh!

Chiming in on the thank-you’s to MJ. This board was my refuge when I was banned from TWOP (the first time) and it will remain my source of media and other news in the coming season. (Though I know there will never be another Idol like this year’s…)

Okay I just read on Lisa’s M&G report about Chikeze and Carly crying after their sets. Are my eyes dry now…? No they’re not! Awwww! What an awesome tour season. I am so glad I discovered mj’s to be able to keep up with all that has happened! I’m looking forward to finding out what’s yet to come for each of these top ten!

Thank you to MJ and to everyone who has posted their recaps and video clips. It was awesome to experience, especially for those of us who didn’t make it to any of the shows.

Hats off to AI7′s Top 10, sounds like they had a fantastic tour and made some lasting friendships.

Awww, it’s time for our Idol chicks to leave the nest. I’ll miss knowing what they’re all up to each day. It’s such a nice distraction from real life! For me this group is really special. I’d never even made it through an entire episode of AI before this year’s Top 24 week, but something about Cook & co. hooked me and kept me watching throughout the season and beyond.

Thanks so much MJ for providing one-stop-shopping for all things AI and CI. You make it so easy to keep up with the news about all of the Idols and you do a great job moderating the comments so that the discussion stays on-topic and doesn’t deteriorate into flames.

Here’s hoping that next year’s group is just as special (or maybe not- I need my life back!).

*happy sigh* This season’s idols surpassed season 5 for me. I didn’t think that could happen. It has been hilarious and emotional at the same time. I want to especially thank the two David’s for that GREAT GREAT finale where they both just laid their heart on the table. There is just something magical about those two together that I can’t see being duplicated. The show and tour has been such a joy to follow and I’m Glad I Didn’t Miss a Thing!!!!!

This season surpassed everything for me, There wasn’t one person who made it happen. Though I’m a huge Cook fan, I have to give props to each and every one of them They all blew me away..that.is.all.period.paragraph.

I didn’t think AI could ever top S5, but this year was at least equal. They made it through this busy tour, without one idol missing a show due to illness or vocal rest. Kudos to this group!

I totally agree with IGetCranked. I thought Season 5 was the best until this year.

The top 5 guys of AI5 are still tops in my book. I loved all the impromtu concerts with Taylor, Limbo and the guys. AI5 is the only season I really felt compelled to go to the tour since I liked and enjoyed 90% of them.

This year I’d have only gone to the tour to see Cook, Archuletta and Castro. I’ll say though that this year’s top two were absolutely amazing to me and I can’t wait to see what lies ahead for them. I’ll be wanting to see what’s up with cute little Jason too.

That’s when someone (Cook?) whipped the pair of hot pink panties at Archie. XDDDDDDDDD My GOD you’d have thought that he had thrown a hot potato at him, holy freak!! 9. Syesha started bawling at the end of “Listen.” It made me cry, you guys, and I don’t even like her.

10. Christ on a crutch Archie was amazing. HE WAS DANCING YOU GUYS. He also said that he enjoyed “opening up” for Cook, and I totally lost my shit laughing.

11. And Cookie. OMG, Cookie.

You guys, my mom’s here, in the front row, and then there’s these things. This was the best season of Idol. I don’t if I will watch next year either because I have also found my idol this year. and following the tour was a completely unexpected gift, I didn’t expect all the videos on you tube and here and everywhere. Ok that was one looooooooooong day!

I just wanted to say quickly, DC reveled in the Tulsa crowd. He owned the crowd P-E-R-I-O-D. We were all like putty in his hands.

Shocking moment: DC smashing his reddish/brown guitar with AC on it to smitherines.

It was very loud and the crowd loved each and every Idol and the Idol’s loved them back.

Streamer’s and confetti were dropped down onto us peeps with the floor seats at the very end (was pretty cool).

DC was hyped. My God can that man get any better???? No. All the Idol’s were great, but the moment DC was announced there was an electric charge that ran through the crowd and it built and swayed and ran on and on.

I cried when the lights were turned out during DC’s *filming of the crowd* and I turned completely around in my seat and the auditorium was lit up like a christmas tree with those glow sticks and standing. It was truly beautiful. I’m a sap, so sue me.

DC cried, and he cried and he strutted that stage. Then he walked through the crowd.

Michael Johns was freaking AMAZING tonight. Just AMAZING.

I am going to write the whole day up tomorrow because I am tiret with a T. My day started around 6am and it’s past midnight.

Bye Season 7. I still love S5 more but the two Davids made this season interesting (for me). I think S5>>>S7 in the personality department not necessarily talent. Or maybe I mean in the charisma department which is so important in making the career.

The last show went out on a bang not a whimper which is cool. Less silly costumes and lots of silly string. Hopefully, Michael Johns will not incorporate any of the moves tonight in his future career. I’m always very interested to see how they do post Idol. I always like to be surprised and am hoping this group has some surprises in them.

I don’t know how anyone could not miss this group. As much as I loved season 5, I think this one edged them out just a tiny little bit. So many of them have market potential, I’m sure we’ll see many of these guys again. But more importantly, this was a really nice, grounded bunch. Great people one and all. Fantastic!

Aww…the end of the tour is always bittersweet. The American Idol phase is over, and the “real world” phase begins. Thanks to MJ and all the posters who’ve shared their recaps, pics and videos this summer. I still consider season five to be the best season, but for me the season seven tour blew season five’s tour out of the water. I am really going to miss seeing this group of 10 performing together (sniffle). I wish them all the best of luck as they move forward with their careers.

I lovedlovedloved season 5, and I still like this one better. The thing that’s different is that I really like all of this year’s bunch as people. As different as they are from each other, they all seem to genuinely like and appreciate each other. I think the boys in season 5 all liked each other, but I’m not at all sure about the girls, plus there were a couple of the top ten I, personally, didn’t like all that much.

The other thing with season 5 was that I was a big Elliott fan, and we were all waiting impatiently for the tour to be done so we could find out what he was doing (in terms of a contract). My fave this year is Cook, and he’s already done a single, and he’s recording, so I know he’s set. I like everybody who doesn’t have a contract this year, but I’m not too worried about them, plus I learned from my Elliott anxiety that patience is a virtue.

So all of that is to say that I’m sadder about the end of this year’s tour. I’ve enjoyed watching all the video and looking at all of the pictures so much, and enjoyed the interaction between these crazy kids. I feel so… Fond of them. Not the usual rockstar/celeb OMG! I LOVE THEM! but a real fondness.

Thanks, mj, for all you do and for keeping us all sane. I don’t know if I can do another season of AI (I kind of feel like it would be cheating on Cook) but I have a feeling I will be back here, reading all the posts, anyway.

In general, I’ve avoided the whole “Michael Johns comes across as an asshole because of his interviews” discussion. I really don’t care.

However, I thought this was highly inappropriate. Sure, goof around during the group numbers. But to go behind her back and basically mock her (even if it was meant in fun) during her last set on tour pretty much makes him an asshole.

If MJ makes a really great album, I’ll still buy it. It’ll have to be really good, though. I’m not impressed.

Of course, this is several threads down and no one commented on it earlier, so he’s safe.

I have mixed feelings about the Michael Johns thing. On one hand, the last show is always full of crazy stuff and Idols joining others on stage. Here’s Pickler joining the guys halfway through their song on the last show of the S5 tour. I’m sure this has happened on every tour.

On the other hand, she’s not dancing around like a lunatic drawing all the attention away from them and on her. I just don’t find the MJ cameo in Brook’s performance very amusing but maybe she and the audience did.

jpfan, the difference is that it was they guy’s group song. I understand that crazy stuff goes on, but I think it should be confined to the group performances, as I mentioned above. Pickler didn’t rush the stage or do anything during any of their individual performances, when it’s truly their moment to shine.

Plus, all Kellie did is sing with Bucky. Big diff.

MNSue, I’m glad I’m not the only one. I hate to be a party pooper, too, but I think it was way too much. I’m sure Brooke took it in good humor, but it’s still reflects poorly on MJ. I’m sure he probably meant it to be in good fun, but he obviously didn’t think about much more than himself in doing it.

Ha, I saw Mj behind Brooke and thought to myself, of lord no, you didnt. Here comes a HUGE ass chewing Michael Johns my dear. I love him to death I do and if he had done that on any other show except for this last one where they were all goofing around and having fun, I too would have gotten on that band wagon. But not here and now, I am tooooo sad that I wont be seeing them all together again like this. I LOVED this season the most I think because it was my first one shared here on MJ’s, that brought me my Jason Castro. Thanks MJ, I will miss this all so much.

I love Brooke too and I am sure he did it in fun with her not to make fun of her and even though I sure dont know it, I am sure she probably laughed about it after she found out. In all the interviews Brooke was one of the first ones who would point out or say Michael Johns was the funniest and look at him with admiration, so yeah, Not the smartest Move and one that a lot of people will be jumping on him about but I still love him, the big dork, but a move that IS going to cause a bit of pooping on the party, darn it all

Ha, I saw Mj behind Brooke and thought to myself, of lord no, you didnt. Here comes a HUGE ass chewing Michael Johns my dear. I love him to death I do and if he had done that on any other show except for this last one where they were all goofing around and having fun, I too would have gotten on that band wagon. But not here and now, I am tooooo sad that I wont be seeing them all together again like this. I LOVED this season the most I think because it was my first one shared here on MJà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s, that brought me my Jason Castro. Thanks MJ, I will miss this all so much.

Being the last show and knowing this group of idols we were all expecting for the show to be a great joke fest… As an Archie I was preparing myself for some big moment during his set… I ´ll guess they decided to leave the kid alone since everybody was expecting him to cry (once again kudos to poster girl I ´m sure Archie would have cry it if wasn ´t for that funny moment)

So maybe MJÂ ´s joke was made with a good intention but got out of hand, I guess they get some yelling from the stage director after taht since no other Idol was made an object of jokes… Brooke is a sweetheart IÂ ´m sure she took it as a joke nothing…

I hope he got some flack. Seriously, I know Blake went off script last year on the last show by doing an original, but the difference is that he didn’t inject his ego into someone else’s set.

If I were a big Brooke fan and if Tulsa was my only opportunity to see her, I’d be pretty annoyed. It’s kind of like the faux Idol mosh pit. You don’t want something extra like that invading the song…

I think a lot of his actions over the course of the tour were for attention and ego feeding and thought this was no different. My first thought was why Brooke? I thought it did come off as making fun of her (whether intentionally or not) and it was distracting. I thought if anything he would have pulled a stunt during DC’s set byt then I wondered if someone got a hold of him after the Brooke incident and gave him a warning. And if he did pull something like that during DC’s set I’d be furious.

What I was trying to say about mixed feelings is that clowning around during the last show is an idol tradition. However Micheal Johns wasn’t interacting with Brooke in any cute way, he was just acting really crazy behind her and distracting the audience. But that’s my opinion and I wasn’t there. The fans and Brooke may have loved it and he may have done it with total good intentions.

I’d love to hear what Brooke said about the whole thing.

I thought Michael Johns was hilarious when he danced behind Brooke. It wasn’t her entire performance, just 30 seconds. After 50 shows, I’d say cut him a little slack. IMO, all the idols seemed to enjoy MJ’s humor and he probably gave them a lot of laughs over the summer.
It’s also quite possible that he planned this with Brooke. On the other hand, I don’t think DC told MJ that he would be shooting silly string all over him during his final performance. MJ still had one more song to perform covered in the silly string. But that’s ok, cause Michael Johns has a good sense of humor. :biggrin_wp:

I don’t know if I’ll follow next season or not — this has been just too special, plus I don’t know if I can get so invested again. It’s crazy what I’ve done behind this show.

So tell me…now what happens? Does this board go down? Do we keep chattin’ until David’s single comes out? Is MJ gonna cover America’s Got Talent until Eli wins?

What on earth will I do with my time, now? Maybe I’ll read something for a change. Hee Hee.

Sooo, just as I was having fun last night, my computer blew! I have so much to catch up on thanks to you great people! So far, I scared the neighbors after watching Archie and the sign! …. Um he does look really great in that vest gingerly! Now off to Cook videos! WHOOHOO!

Just finished watching livehead16′s vid of Don’t Stop The Music ( posted above). It’s amazing. She was able to capture the group hug of all the 10 idols!

At the end of the video, instead of David Cook descending into the floor, all the idols went up, came back to David Cook and had a group hug. They then all proceeded to descend to the frontmost part of the stage to wave to the audience. AMAZING!

How fitting for DC to end his time in the spotlight in Tulsa. A fabulous performance from a terrific talent. He is a very worthy winner of the title and I am going to miss the hell out of him. (Well, there is the new website, for as long as it is kept updated).
A fine performance from Archie and congratulations to him; he is well on his way to stardom.
I hope good things are in store for the rest of the group. There may be some indie surprises a la Elliott among them.

Hmm I am a HUGE Brooke fan and have no liking for Michael at all whatsoever and have found him arrogant and annoying at most times but strangely enough, I am not so annoyed by what he did in Brooke’s set. But I can see why other people would find it annoying.
