Syesha Mercado blogs:

So, tonight was amazing there was a lot less kids, but it was still great. All the Idols were wondering why a lot of people did not stand up that were seated on the floor seats. Well, it wasnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t until after the show I found out that the venue didnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t allow them to. Funny thing is I told everyone to stand up during my song..lol. I didnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t even know.

My mom and I took some videos but I won’t have time to upload until tomorrow.

Very quickly though? I thought it was a GREAT show. Very much worth our money! The only person who had an unimpressive set was Ramiele. (She’s just way out of her league in comparison to everyone else.) Even people that I was just so-so about on the show (KLC, Chikezie, Syesha, Archie) were GREAT and the people I already loooooved (Castro, Brooke, Carly, MJ and Cook). And of course, Cookie was his brilliant totally rockstar self. I’m serious, this guy is made to play to crowds like that.

It was REALLY a fun night. The tour doesn’t pass through Vegas every year but I am SO glad it did this year. :)

And yes, MJ & David did do the robot dance like in the video above! It was hilarious! Really, MJ dancing for the entire closing number was great.

And Cookie said he was singing for his supper tonight because he lost money in the casino last night. ;)

Michael and Cookie robotic danceà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦LOL

That is just too awesome!!! The two boys doing their thing! DC is a liar…he CAN dance!!!!!

Joe Brown ranked Archie #1 for the night and DC for #2

Uh…not much of a review! Where are the details?

Guess it depends on your preference in musical styles.

Joe Brown ranked Archie #1 for the night and DC for #2

Someone should really tell him the competition has been over for quite some time.
But considering that his “review” has no actual content, and is more of a teaser, I can understand why he’d want a controversial headline.
ETA: Thank you for providing some context, sherryw. Somehow, I’m not surprised. Guess it was mighty big of him to give DC #2, LOL.

Re: MJ & DC doing the robot – Why is it that those two don’t have a duet? I would have loved to see their antics onstage for more than 5 seconds together.
Here’s a snippet from TWOP regarding MJ/DC at a fan meet yesterday:

Then Cookie came out (again, squee!) wearing his trilby and a red v’neck t-shirt. As he was making his way down the line, he crossed paths with MJ (going the other direction) and they did a chest bump. Major squeeage from the crowd.

Uhà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦not much of a review! Where are the details?

Guess it depends on your preference in musical styles.

Reviews are always subjective and have a great deal to do with pre-conceived notions from any given writer. This particular writer accused Jason Castro of purposely sabotaging himself during the season and accused David Cook of “flipping off” the viewing audience by singing Baba O’Reilly as it “references teenage wasteland and the viewers are mostly teenagers.” After DC’s win, he called the season “anticlimactic.” Frankly, I am surprised that JC and DC didn’t rank as #9 and #10 on his list.

Very cute! But can someone explain to me what the wash rag is hanging out of Cookie’s back pocket? That thing is HUGE!

  • jpfan

Reviews are opinions, no more no less. What a test of sanity if Cook fans don’t bother to leave nasty comments on there. I’ll be impressed. :)

I think he says the more detailed review is coming.
Is this guy a columnist or someone well known?

Syesha’s blog on Show 4 (Las Vegas)

    Sunday, July 06, 2008

    Show 4
    Current mood: determined

My eyes feel so heavy…tomorrow is another day off, but I have a lot to take care of.

So, tonight was amazing there was a lot less kids, but it was still great. All the Idols were wondering why a lot of people did not stand up that were seated on the floor seats. Well, it wasn’t until after the show I found out that the venue didn’t allow them to. Funny thing is I told everyone to stand up during my song..lol. I didn’t even know.

Wow my eyes are burning just craving for sleep.

The crowd after the show today was a lot more tamed. It doesn’t matter tamed or not I love every crowd. They make me feel so good!

I just wanted to say I love the people who yelled out after my set “We Love You Syesha” I looked and smiled that way in the darkness and said, “Thank You” I’m so sorry I didn’t say “I love you too” I feel horrible. I said it in my head and my smile said it, but the words didn’t come out. I love ya’ll!

To anyone that writes messages to me……..by the end of the night it’s either stay up and read all my messages or rest my voice. I usually rest my voice and sometimes read a few, but believe me when I get more time I will check and answer them like I use to. I’m trying to answer everyone. Just know I know you are there and I appreciate the support!

    Syesha’s Thoughts:
    Advice to the Idol Newcomers;

If you are a hard worker Idol is the right place for you!

Audition because it is on your heart not someone else’s. You are the only one who can live your dream, so if it isn’t your dream do what is. When your heart is fully into something you will excel. You must do what makes you happy!

The nerves are always going to be there, but you can control them and tame them if you try. Everyone is different. But, there is a way to calm down the mind and body right before your shinning moment: Pray, Meditate on Positive things and outcomes, talk to someone who is positive and will make you feel good (get yah spirit uplifted).

Practice so you will feel less nervous. The more prepared I am the less nervous I am. Take away that stress and doubt….. Prepare! My acting teacher once told me that……
Luck is Preparation meets opportunity! This is true!

Show those judges that you belong there by commanding there attention. Show them who you are from the start. Show them “YOU”. Smile and just SING! Everything will fall into place. And if it doesn’t happen now that only means it’s not the time to happen yet.

Muah! I love ya’ll…see yah on the road. Oh by the way when you focus on what you want it happens for you!….My dress the first one that didn’t work out is being fixed so I can wear for the L.A. show…Yay!

Thanks for the link to the compiled videos, arca. I finally got to watch a Syesha performance…I thought she sounded great on Listen. :)

  • JudyOhio

I’m getting more and more impressed with DA. This is his best showing so far to me. Quite good.

  • J.S.G.

Finally, eight days into the tour we get to see a video of Syesha singing ‘Listen.’ Thanx so much.
And I can just hear Randy saying that song is too big, and Simon sayng Syesha strained her voice, but in the end, the crowd’s reaction speaks volumes.
And the Afro’s back..let’s hope it stays

  • littlepark

Poor Syesha – what kind of piss-poor concert venue don’t let the audience stand up? :|

  • jan

Here is a very good video of Hello & TOML

Here is a very good video of Hello & TOML

That is very good indeed! I love the way he keeps changing up the banter from show to show, and costumizing it to the local crowd. In Fresno we got the baseball jersey, in San Diego we got an imitation of Carly’s accent, and in Vegas we hear how the casino took all his money. LOL
Also – Great to see that whoever filmed this realized that if you’re not super close to the stage, sometimes filming the screens is the best option. This really was a wonderful video.

Purplesmile, thanks for posting Syesha’s blogs. I am her friend now, lol. I love her little quotations and affirmations at the end. They’re sweet. Listen was really good.

David A’s set was his best so far. His voice is stellar and he knows how to use it effectively. His stage presence has grown exponentially since earlier this year.

All of these guys and gals are incredible, well you know what I mean.

Arca, your videos are great, thanks for sharing (scubajoe, as well).

  • cookcricket

Once again everyone thank you so much for the links!

Hoppy, thanks for your brief overview of the concert too!

  • aly

Go Michael and DC. Michael is the dance machine the group says (lol).
I’m glad those two are having fun. Michael looked to be dancing and
joking during the whole song. He has a great personality to go along
with his amazing voice and stage presence.

  • sciencefan

    Thanks for posting Syesha’s message.
I subscribed to her blog yesterday, but I haven’t received a notification that she posted.
    That’s irritating.

  • geekygirl

Cookie is waaayyy to smooth! He looks like he has been doing it all his life! He is fricking amazing! I suspect he is really an eastern european rockstar plant, he snuck into this country, learned the accent and auditioned for AI under an assumed name and a family he paid to say he was their son. The proof is the rag he used to wash windscreens at the traffic lights is still in his back pocket!

Love the clips, wish I could see the concert. Thank you all for the recaps and the video links.

  • spritely

geekygirl, lol! That must be it. I think somehow it explains the v-neck t-shirts, too.

Reviews are always subjective and have a great deal to do with pre-conceived notions from any given writer. This particular writer accused Jason Castro of purposely sabotaging himself during the season and accused David Cook of à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“flipping offà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ the viewing audience by singing Baba Oà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢Reilly as it à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“references teenage wasteland and the viewers are mostly teenagers.à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ After DCà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s win, he called the season à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“anticlimactic.à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ Frankly, I am surprised that JC and DC didnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t rank as #9 and #10 on his list.

I agree–reviews are always subjective. But the fact that he listed Cook as second and Castro as, I think 4th, shows that he wasn’t basing his rankings off of how he judged the season, if indeed he was anti-Cook or Castro at some points. I think the reviewer responded to a comment that he was being biased, and he handled it well. He listed Cook as second–not as if he listed him as fifth or sixth or tenth (poor Rami). Indeed, he said Cook did “tremendous” in his comment response. Sometimes people can feel that Archie did better without having an agenda. If Michael Slezak from EW.com went to a concert and said Archie did 2nd best I would be really happy with that as fan. And he was much more anti-Archie during the season than Joe Brown was anti-Cook.

Archie has been doing amazingly. He may not be the showman between his numbers like Cook, but he’s got that voice, and I think people are finally appreciating how great it really is away from the restrictiveness of Idol. Plus, his stage presence is getting very good. I’ve read several reviews from Las Vegas that say the crowd ate him up–he had to restart one or more of the songs because the crowd wouldn’t stop screaming. He had a really great night, apparently. Judging from the youtube vids (which are amazing quality) he sang each one of his songs differently than he sang them before–changing them up just enough to make them better than the last time he sang them. He’s learning with every show.

I imagine there will be nights in a 53 city tour when even Ramielle may be the best of the night – well maybe not, but you know what I mean!! The competition is over and it sounds like everyone is doing amazingly well overall. I’m surprised actually that any reviewer is ‘ranking’ them at all. Does that usually happen on tour?

  • http://myspace.com/arcadata arca

Hi, I’m pretty happy with the Las Vegas page with almost all the idols’ sets fully represented (am missing Chikezie and Ramielle though) as of now. So if anyone knows of any C & R vids, please let me know…

  • Hoppy

Arca, some of those vids are mine (lisadawn24 is my YouTube profile). I’m in the process of trying to re-upload Chikeze doing “So High” since YouTube seemed to be a bitch about it. And I’m also uploading Jason doing “Daydream”, but that is all I have left to upload. (No Ramiele, because well, I didn’t care for her set at all.) So check my profile in the morning and hopefully those will be working.
