The Idols are in Atlanta GA tonight, and according to Rodney Ho at Access Atlanta, the Idols did not meet the fans at the buses before the show–they were busy being interviewed by Larry King to be aired on his show this coming Friday…

Rodney’s got some very nice pictures from today’s CNN taping inside the arena…so check it out.

In the meantime, post your stuff here people! And thanks to everyone who sent me their re-caps. Wow, it’s been a bonanza these past few days! I like when the blog writes itself! Heh. Keep them coming! But, if you attend the show tonight and are shy, stop by the thread and tell us about your experience. Also: Photos! Videos! Discussion! Thanks!

As if my week couldnt have ended better. So I havent had much to blog after my last really random one, byt my week has bee interesting enough, that I would like to thank a couple of fans in particular and just vent about my week. As most of you have noticed I havent been going out to sign lately, Ive just had a lot of really messed up experiences with some fans and I think its time to be fair to those fans who have been waiting to see me . To you guys I appologize. Another reason its been hard for me to go out is just cause ever since we’ve hit the east coast my allergies have just gotten worse!

The Mavid dance tonight was something along the lines of Grease Lightning. That’s what the cellcaster said. I can’t wait to see this one. :laugh_tb:

  • HollandX

    Heh. Nononono.

The Mavid Dance was the “Dirty Bird” dance from the Atlanta Falcons (who are/were known as the Dirty Birdz). When they went to the Super Bowl in 1999, they were led by running back Jamal Anderson who made the Dirty Bird famous and danced it after they scored. My guess is Michael Johns remembered it back from when he lived here.

Begin with the right hand. it is pulled down from face level with the fist clinched and palm toward the face. this motion is repeated twice.

The second step involves the right fist still clinched, but the elbow is jutted out towards the side (with the forearm parallel to the ground).

Repeat steps one and two with the left hand.

Then, proceed to “flutter” the elbows like the wings of a chicken, and spin in a circle while doing so.

Mavid did everything but the flutter flapping!

    Hi all-
I was at the Atlanta show tonight. I have a headache from the blood piercing screams for the Davids… I am a David Cook fan but David Archuleta blew me away too. He did a lot of laughing when he talked. The audience was cracking up at him.. I have the MAVID dance but not sure how to upload it..
I will try in the morning. Also saw a lot of people holding what looked like monkey signs…but I think the were dreadlock heads for Jason!!!

  • movin2thabeet

I heard something about David Cook spouting a water fountain as he descended from the stage tonite. Any pics or tales to tell?

  • HollandX

Right before he disappeared under the stage for the very last time, he spit his water up Triple H (from WWE) style.

pics of Triple H doing it: http://tinyurl.com/5pzd2n

    MAVID

It starts around the 1:57 mark. LOL

  • JudyOhio

At the end when it’s just the two of them, I thought that was funny how DC faked DA out and wouldn’t get up. DA was pointing at DC, jumping up and down, and DC just stayed in the same position, lol. I could tell by DC’s face that he got a kick out of doing that to DA, lol.

Here is Rodney Ho from Access Atlanta’s review of the show:

    Idols in concert in Gwinnett

Here is a little snippet of the review:

After mocking or slagging various critics who were forced to watch this concert, they donà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t necessarily realize the purpose in this case is different from most concerts. Ità ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s merely a celebration of ourselves and the folks we picked to make the top 10. We validate ourselves with the success of these singers, some of whom wonà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t ever sing at Gwinnett Arena again and others who most certainly will.

From that standpoint, the concert was a rousing success, highlighting the depth and breadth of talent this year. Sure, the TV show itself is getting gray around the edges (like me), but there are a few solid reasons the show sold out: David Cook and David Archuleta (with a few Jason Castro fans thrown in for good measure.)

  • broophl79

Here are two Jason themed objects in this picture that we found very amusing. The foam hands were actually directly across from us in the arena and we spotted them swaying with Jason when he performed. I had a blast except for the people behind us who did not want us to stand. I also saw the water fountain at the end.

Idols except for Chikezie, M Johns and David Cook met with the fans outside the arena in Atlanta tonight. It was lots of fun with most of the Idols being very friendly and accommodating. A few drunks at the end of the line, but most of the crowd was well behaved.

Extra gracious were Jason Castro, Archie and Ramiele.

My daughters attended the M&G before the show and were disappointed with the Idols behavior. Some were rude and didn’t even make eye contact despite there only being about 12 fans in the room. Jason Castro was not their favorite going in, but he was definitely a favorite by nights end.

Concert was pretty good overall with no real standouts but no real stinkers either. ha. Fun day despite the earlier disappointment over the Larry King thing preventing them from meeting the fans earlier.

  • Grammie Kari

How nice to hear that your daughters were won over by Jason’s sweetness. Poor Ramiele, it must be difficult for her to handle the negative comments. Loved seeing the dreadhead themed objects. LOL!

My first Idol concert and my kids and I thoroughly enjoyed it. After watching them live, it does make it easier to understand why everyone placed where they did in the show. I throw Michael Johns and Syesha as the exceptions. Based on the ATL show, their finishing places could have been flip flopped. MJ was outstanding… an amazing voice that did not did not translate nearly as well over my TV. I hope MJ can make a go of it after this AI run. I’d love to see him again. Syesha’s Umbrella was good, but I was not crazy about the rest of her set.

Brooke’s set was super sweet. Jason as adorable as ever, actually stopped singing after the 2nd line of Daydream to point out that he is the daydreaming boy. Cookie did not disappoint. He rushed through Magic Rainbow as if letting us know he’ll be glad when he doesn’t have to sing it again. He seemed a little weary. Perhaps the rumors of him being ill are true. In fact, he even bent over with hands on knees during his last song and I wasn’t so sure he was going to stand back up.

It was an evening of great fun. I’m so glad I got to go.

When I saw the vid of PDSTM, that’s what I thought at first, which is labeled “Mavid” when I posted late last night, but if you look at it really closely, it looks like he was playing a little trick on Archie by not getting up because it looks as if he was laughing when he got up.

I dont think the leaning over part was because of feeling ill..but he did seem a little slow.
I didnt read all the reviews but I was pleasantly surprised by Ramiele…She was never a favorite of mine but sang well last night. Carly’s first song was awful but sang the Heart song beautiful. Michael Johns was great too…everyone else (imo) was just ok..except for the Davids. Siesha was quite the Diva..My 10 year old daughter made the comment that she better not lean over in that dress!!
I still have a headache from the screams for Archie and Cook. The audience screamed their entire sets. Cook made a comment about – ya know how when you wash clothes sometimes they shrink? He was refering to his tight pants..
I wish I could upload my photos but Im not that computer savvy..

“it looks like he was playing a little trick on Archie by not getting up because it looks as if he was laughing when he got up.”

I thin he’s taken to not getting up at the end of PDSTM lol We’ll see at the next stop. I think he likes razzing Archie. XD First we got an archie kick then in the newest one he started waving cookies arm around after he wouldnt get up. XD

I have to admit I giggled a little when I saw that part of Archie kicking him and I think it got to Cookie too because the grin on his face said it all. lol I think they are just seeing which one can outdo the other. I love it! :laugh_tb:

One thing I wanted to mention about Kristy Lee.. While I did see she had many fans here, she didnt get quite the reaction I expected in the south. I didnt really like the songs she sang and while many did stand for”Proud to be an American” I thought it would go over bigger. It could have just been where I was sitting. I cant really figure out why she got signed. He voice is average and nothing really about her stands out. I think Carly should have been signed. Her voice is unbelievable…

OK maybe I’m a moron…it’s possible…but the Mavid 9.0 link doesn’t go to the video. And that one and the Dirty Bird Mavid link go to FRENCH youtube for me! Maybe I hit a wrong button…I dunno! This is kinda entertaining really though. I will come back later. Thank you all as always for the great vids, photos, recaps. I love it all!

    Ellen,
I have a question about your Carly comments above. I’m a Carly fan, so I’m wondering why you didn’t like her first song but then you said her voice is unbelievable? Was the Evananescence song just not your thing? I saw them in Charlotte the other night and I thought she was amazing on that song. I’m not trying to start an argument, just wondering (please don’t take this question the wrong way).

    I don’t think
october is talking about PDSTM. There were additional reports I rwad that at the end of Billie Jean he kind of hunched down with his hands on his knees. He might not be fully recovered.

Archie sounds really good in Atlanta. Im waiting for an Angels vid, supposedly it was really really good. He sounds rested and in good voice. He extended the next to last stand again, which he had been making shorter in the past tour stops.

I hear his family is with him the whole week. Since they have family in florida still.

  • Layla

Ramiele’s blog made me feel a little bad for her…have fans (of others) been unkind to her. I guess the Mom and me makes me feel a little protective of her. And I can’t stand unkind crazed fans!

  • capami

I hope Rami finds her niche. The music industry is huge.

Good for Jason winning new fans. He’s a sweetheart.

  • kathrynTX

Syesha’s blog…her STAGE NAME? Oh lo help us. Let’s see, what stage names do the other contestants use? Oh wait, Chikezie only uses one name. So I guess he and Syesha are like Cher and Madonna, right? Let’s ask Archie and Cook to tell us their stage names. Oh wait, maybe we’d better not after that sign in the audience from Desi and friends! LOL!

  • http://www.myspace.com/gwendolyndiane GwendolynD

LOL! Man, Syesha is a drama queen!!! Why did Ramiele have to break her neck?

I’m sending her a quote for her next blog: “It ain’t life unless it’s drama!”

Trina- You have understood me correctly. I can’t remember which song, either BJ or the song before it, but Cookie was over on left stage all by himself and was bent over with hands on knees. Kind of like if you feel dizzy and don’t want to stand up straight for fear of passing out.

About Carly not sounding good on Evanescense: my teenagers commented that it sounded like she was trying to sing like a little girl. I thought she was great, but both my girls thought she sounded weird on that one. The Heart song was outstanding.

And as far as Archie on the Angels song, that was the best of his set. I’m not especially an Archie fan, but I have to say that I understood why so many adore him on that one. His voice was gorgeous and it absolutely filled the arena.

The screams were wild for Cookie and Archie. The screams for Archie were ear piercing. The screams for Cookie created more of a roar, I think they came from the entire audience rather than just little girls. I also noticed that people called out individual things to Jason during his set. I hadn’t noticed that for the other performers.

  • gabam

Syesha’s blog gave me new info. I never knew that they did two meet and greets before the show. They actually have to personally deal with fans five times a day on most days. YIKES!

It’s great that Archie’s and Syesha’s families and loved ones will be with them in Florida.

Just in case anyone is worried about the hurricane and the Idols, Jason’s mom posted earlier today on DDB that the Idols have made it to their hotel in Florida and are safe and sound after a 10 hour trip and lots of rain.

I just wanted to add my thoughts about October’s comment on Carly singing the Evanescence song. I’m not a teenager (my age is far from it), but I have the Evanescence cd that Bring Me to Life is on and that’s also how Amy Lee’s (leader singer) voice sounds. I guess Carly is just trying to sing in her upper range so it sounds like the original song. I thought Carly sang it just as well as Amy Lee. I know everyone has their own opinions, so please don’t take offense to this. I’m a big Carly fan and I like her voice in whatever range she sings.

Poor Rami, She steals phrases and breaks necks. If I were her, I would poopie my pants too.

I am writing an article for the Sun later, just got back from the 6 hour there and almost 8 hour drive back through the storms! After standing on my feet during the concert, then waiting for the Idols against the barriers, I am pretty exhausted!

    Quick observations:

The Idols sounded much better in Atlanta/Duluth than in Detroit; Chikezie, Ramiele and Michael Johns got much more love in Detroit – maybe the crowd was just louder in Detroit? Kristy Lee had more people standing for God Bless the USA in Detroit too. Same amount of screams for Jason, and same observation for the Davids – David A – higher pitched but LOUD; David C, yes, that was a ROAR! I had excellent floor seats only a few rows back on the right side and was on my feet almost the whole time!

I loved Jason’s “That’s Me!” on Daydreaming! I wondered if it was the first time! My camera died while KLC was performing :(

Kristy and Jason stayed out the longest during the autographs!

  • idolbeat

I’m not sure if this was said already, but while we waited for David C to come out, security said he was sick. He didn’t come out – I was one of the last ones waiting. I was first against the barriers – missed him in Detroit twice and now in Atlanta too! I might try one more time if my family will let me 111!!!

  • idolbeat

One more comment: I wrote about how beautiful they were during the press interviews but after seeing them in all in full stage makeup – my gosh, they are all GORGEOUS! Dam* my camera for dying on me! The girls – ahhhhh! Kristy has hair you would kill for and it looked the best I have ever seen it last night – flowing, curly tresses, Syesha may be a diva but the girl is drop dead gorgeous, Rami was tres chic with her style – Ugg boots and strapless dress ( said it wasn’t planned but was too cute) Jasonnn!!!

Amy…Dont worry Im not taking the question wrong.. I have the evanescence (sp) song on my ipod and love it.. I am also a Carly fan. She was my favorite of the females.. The song was very loud and she was a little off key at times.. It kind of sounded like she was shouting. Crazy on You was awesome and the Cindy Lauper song sounded great too. She has such an amazing voice. Im not sure what the deal was with the first song… Maybe the sound in the stadium was too loud for her first song..

  • amy123

Ellen, I’m glad you didn’t take my question the wrong way. Maybe the sound in that stadium just didn’t work with her powerful vocals, who knows. I saw the Washington DC and Charlotte, NC shows and she sounded great on Bring Me To Life at both of them. I guess it just depends on the venue’s sound system. Thanks again for clearing it up and I’m glad you agree with me on how amazing her voice is.

  • ellen

…Amy …yes it is probably the venue.. Ive heard the Gwinnett arena isnt that great. I saw American idol there last year but I dont think anyone’s voice is like hers. Im not sure why the shows are always there but it is close for me so Im happy. Other than that Ive taken my girls to see Hilary Duff and Cheetah girls at that arena so I never noticed what was lacking in the system!! LOL
