In honor of Adele’s Oscar win for Best Song, here is American Idol season 9 alum Katie Stevens covering the winning song, “Skyfall.”

Some of Katie’s phrasing is very Adele-like, isn’t it?

was just listening to it on you tube as you posted it here
katie has a great voice… however… every cover she does sounds ‘zactly like the original

brings nothing new to the song  ..even down to pronunciation ‘zactly like adele

for that reason  i  am not crazy about it
(would love to hear her interpret her own songs … she has no identity doin all these covers)

I wish that Katie would have auditioned a few seasons later…her age was a testament to her musical knowledge.

Nice version… I almost think Katie should have waited a year or two before trying out for Idol.

Katie reminds me of a musical chameleon, consistently provides excellent mimicry of others but am left unsure as to what her own voice may be?

at times she had a Kelly Clarkson-esque quality to her voice… though not as powerful or full sounding… don’t recall that when she was on the show… maybe it’s a sign of her voice maturing?

She’s playing the keyboard while singing? Impressed by that.

    I’m still a fan.

She’s talented and even advancing, but I’m afraid she’s still too much a pageant girl in her soul — i.e., too wrapped up in being what other people expect to come forth with an original voice. Would like to see her do that at some point, but I think that’s a hard problem to overcome, especially when you’re one of the big-pretty-voiced ones. The big-pretty-voice seems like enough when it isn’t.
