American Idol season 7 alum Jason Castro opens up publicly for the first time about a secret that nearly destroyed his marriage in a new White Chair series film released today on iamsecond.com.

This is Jason’s second film with the Christian testimonial website I Am Second, having shot a clip in 2008, the year he placed 4th on the show.  From the YouTube page:

Jason Castro has had a secret. And it’s one that nearly cost him his marriage.

After starring on season seven of “American Idol,” Castro went on tour. That’s when a secret addiction exploded. That addiction? P***.

“This has been a big secret, an awkward secret,” he admits.

While the show kept him busy, a sense of loneliness set in after. He ran towards p***, which eventually led to him cheating on his girlfriend and future wife, Mandy.

“It was the next step.”

He was overcome with shame, which would start a cycle of watching more p***. He eventually told his girlfriend about the incident and the p***, and she called off the relationship. Four months later, they reconciled. And by 2010 they were married. While Mandy threatened to leave Jason if he ever looked at p*** again, he still couldn’t stop chasing it.

But a random invitation to attend a meeting at church finally set him down the road to freedom. Now it was up to Mandy to decide what she was going to do.

So, that’s pretty intense, huh? Jason still has dreads in the clip–he must have filmed it a few years ago, but waited until now to release it? When speaking about choosing to form a group with his family, the singer said it got lonely out on the road on his own…

Jason is clearly embarrassed to share his story, but he does anyway, with details, including how he hooked up on the Idol tour and the shame he felt afterward. Watch the interview below:
