The Idols arrived in Portland, OR yesterday to get ready for their first concert on the American Idols Live! summer tour, Sunday July 5.

The Idols told E! Online a little bit about each of their sets, (read more HERE)

Michael Sarver reveals that the performance order will go in the order of elimination–he’ll be opening the show.   Megan Joy will wear a skin-tight pink dress, “I’m going to be the skanky one” she says. Scott MacIntyre describes his set, “along the lines of singer-songwriter, pop-rock, British pop and very acoustic rock.”   Matt Giruad is singing “Georgia” for his fans, Anoop Desai says his performance of Bobby Brown’s “My Prerogative” will be a lot cooler than it was on the show, Lil Rounds calls her set, “the party set,” Allison Iraheta is doing the rock thang, Danny Gokey looks forward to singing a longer version of   Michael Jackson’s “PYT”, Adam Lambert is psyched about his custom-made “blue, metallic silver bomber jacket with tails and spikes and studs” and Kris Allen says he since he doesn’t go on til later, he’ll be watching everyone from the wings.

List of tour spoilers so far:

  • Kris Allen: “Heartless”, “No Boundaries”, “Hey Jude”, “Ain’t No Sunshine”,   possibly Matchbox 20′s “Bright Lights”
  • Adam Lambert: “Mad World”, “Whole Lotta Love”, Muse’s “Starlight”, Bowie Medley: “Life on Mars”, “Fame” and “Let’s Dance”, “Slow Ride” (with Allison)
  • Danny Gokey: “P.Y.T”, “My Wish”
  • Allison Iraheta: “Cry Baby”, Heart’s “Barracuda”, “Slow Ride” (with Adam), a Pink song
  • Matt Giraud: “Georgia”
  • Anoop Desai: “My Prerogative”
  • Megan Joy: Amy Winehouse’s “Tears Dry on Their Own”
  • Group numbers: Madcon’s “Begging” and “Don’t Stop Believing” with Matt and Scott on piano

If I missed any let me know, or I’m sure Matt Giraud will alert the twitterverse. Heh.

  • jack5791

    LOL @ Megan.

I’m actually excited for Lil’s set. It seems like she may have some good things coming our way.

  • snuffles

I think Allison said she’s also singing a PINK song. Don’t know which one though.

  • Cheetara86

yeah, allison is doing a pink song…don’t know which one..probably Heartbreaker

  • BootStar

I just posted this in the headlines thread, mj, but can’t delete it now:

There’s a new ‘Behind the Scenes During Tour Rehearsals’ video on Kris Allen’s iTunes pass now available. He’s rehearsing ‘Ain’t No Sunshine’ and says he’ll be playing the piano and his guitar on tour, but NO VIOLA! Bummer! ;-) !

I just went back and watched the new Kris video more closely. In addition to sheet music for ‘Ain’t No Sunshine,’ he had a song called ‘Bright Lights’ on the piano. I don’t know if that was a clue or not, LOL, but it appears with about 16 seconds left on the clip.

ETA: I’m pretty sure it’s the Matchbox Twenty song!

It’s hard keeping track of all these threads and knowing where to post everything! : )

  • weareallinnocent

Danny Gokey looks forward to singing a longer version of Michael Jackson’s ‘PYT’

OMG, please tell me this is a misprint!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

More beer and bathroom time for me, I suppose.

  • Miss Chaos

Scott is in such a dream world. :grin2_ee:

  • AC

The cutest part is where Allison talks about how Kris gave her a hug but she was drenched in sweat so he said “eww” haha.. so adorable!

Omg, so I think we know Kris’s complete set! hehe. I’m super super excited now. well, except for No Boundaries, but I’ll just use that part to take hella pics.

By the way, what did MJ post that Matt was trying to call out? hehe

  • jersey

LOL Bootstar. I was just coming to post the same thing!

  • snuffles

    Thanks BootStar,

That would complete Kris’ set list!

    1) Heartless
    2) Hey Jude
    3) No Boundries
    4) Ain’t No Sunshine
    5) Bright Lights (possibly by Matchbox 20)

  • Squirrely

I have a feeling that Adam may have another song – I don’t think the duet counts as his five.

ETA: btw Scott has a pre – Idol album on Itunes.

  • Squirrely

    **** ‘Bright Lights’ ***

Match Box Twenty have a song called ‘Bright Lights’ that fits with Kris style. I like that song too.

    ETA: It’s a piano song

  • snuffles

    Squirrely Jul 1st, 2009 at 4:03 pm

I have a feeling that Adam may have another song – I don’t think the duet counts as his five.

Me too. Allison said in her Comcast chat that she’s singing 4 songs. But then on E! Online she said 3 songs. We already know that her songs include “Cry Baby”, “Barracuda” and a Pink Song. The 4th has to be her Adam duet. Which, if it’s a part of her solo set, then that means Adam has one more song….

…I think I just ended up confusing myself some more! LOL!

  • suebrody

    Danny:

“I want to end my set inspiring people. The song talks about living life without regrets, enjoying it for what it is and not being held down by personal tragedies.”

    We *get* it, Danny.

    *sigh*

I wish we could switch up Matt and Danny…

And please, please, PLEASE tell me Adam gets another song (BTBW, yes, yes, yes). I don’t think he does, only b/c that would mean he gets five songs and and a duet, and Kris gets five songs, too, but no duet…

ETA: Does Adam start w/ WLL, then brings Allison back for SR, then segs into Starlight? I’m confused…

  • BootStar

LOL Bootstar. I was just coming to post the same thing!

I think a lot of us could start second careers as P.I.s, jersey!

  • LaurelG

It is pretty funny how Adam has basically spilled his guts about his entire set … the songs, one of his outfits (described in detail) and even a bit of the order (Bowie medley is the closer) while some of the others seem afraid to say anything at all. heh.

  • flicker

By the way, what did MJ post that Matt was trying to call out? hehe

She posted that he was going to sing Human Nature.

Matt’s fans were baffled by her post and several of us let him know she had posted it, and asked if he was really singing that — Because, we are just like any other Idol fans – obsessively gleaning any scrap of info we can about his songs, etc; we pounce on anything that doesn’t match what we think we know! :) None of us had heard this spoiler before MJ posted it.

ETA – of course, he could be messing with us, and MJ might have a super secret source that is 100% right….

  • AC

Allison prob. said 3 songs since she has 3 in her set and Adam has a 5 song set which includes Slow Ride in which Allison joins him. It makes more sense so that he gets his intro in his own song instead of during Allison’s part. I think Adam having any more is just wishful thinking.

So basically no one knows anything about Lil, Scott, and Sarver’s songs? why the secrecy? (I was going to say something snippy but I’ll refrain. hehe)

Oh, I guess I missed the post about him singing Human Nature then. hehe. I only heard about Georgia and You Found Me (based on his twitter clues) right?

  • bowchickawowow

Bright Lights is perfect for Kris Allen’s voice! I am looking forward to this Idol Tour SOOO MUCH! It will be an amazing show! Love Adam Lambert BEST!

  • kimberann

I can’t wait for my tour stop!!

  • washpd

The Bright Lights that we get a glimpse of in the Behind the Scenes video on Kris’s iTunes pass is DEFINITELY the Matchbox 20 song. I paused the video on the screenshot of the lyrics page, and it’s definitely that song. This was from very early in rehearsals, though, so we don’t know FOR SURE that Kris is singing it on the tour. It may have just been one they were considering. I would love it if he were, though. I LOVE that song.

  • Squirrely

*****I think Adam having any more is just wishful thinking.****

Well I’m wishing for Born to be Wild. I would love for him to sing another MJ song – not necessarily BorW. Eh whatever he sings and how many he sings doesn’t really matter because all the focus will be on his JACKET!

  • mandalay

OMG, the first time I read this I thought that Danny said: is psyched about his custom-made ‘blue, metallic silver bomber jacket with tails and spikes and studs’

    I got really really scared.

  • ShellBen

Matt’s fans were baffled by her post and several of us let him know she had posted it, and asked if he was really singing that

ahh, I had thought that tweet was odd timing on his part since MJ had posted that awhile ago. Makes more sense now.

Madcon “beggin”? LOVE that song. Don’t know that I’ll love it with them. LOL

  • K53

When I tried to watch the Kris clip it was only 18 seconds long. What am I doing wrong? The minutes posted next to it say it should be 2:53. I know it has to be longer than 18 seconds if you all can see the words on sheet music.

  • alaadam

It is going to be a little odd having Adam come out and rock the house -then, settle down for Kris’s Hey Jude and Heartless compositions. Will he end with NB? Kinda of anticlimatic to me.

  • Squirrely

The overall show will end with a group number so most likely it will be upbeat.

When I went for season 5 I have to admit Taylor Hicks was full of energy.

  • BeckyMD

Every time I see JACKET! in capital, my mind will rewind to the US interview and I can’t help but smiling.

  • twinkle

BeckMD – i have the same problem… even when it’s not in caps. from now on, anytime i read the word “jacket” i say it in my head in the excited way he does. hehe.

i LOOOOVE “bright lights”. one of my favorite matchbox 20 songs. i also find it funny that one of the first few lyrics is “another alien on broadway” … and that of course makes me think of a broadway-like glittery alien from planet fierce.

  • AC

Kris’s set ends with Hey Jude. I don’t see it as anticlimatic- just different energies (but all good still the same) especially since a lot of people seemed to really like his Heartless =). It is my wishful thinking/hoping though, that Kris goes into the audience during the Na-na ending part of the song. hehe..

by the way, does Adam have an endorsement deal with skingraft? If not, he should for all the free promotion he’s giving them! haha..

  • Squirrely

****by the way, does Adam have an endorsement deal with skingraft? If not, he should for all the free promotion he’s giving them! haha..

They are his friends, but I hope they give him the jackets for free.

Danny has also said in other interviews that he is singing 3 country songs plus Laura Saltman from Dish of Salt tweeted that Danny serenaded her with What Hurts the Most in rehearsals so we can pretty safely say that Danny is singing PYT to start his set, WHTM and another country song in the middle and finishing his set with My Wish.

  • Mtlfan

I guess Kris will do the NB pretty early in his set. I’m SOOO excited by “bright lights”. That’s a super good song!!!

  • K53

OK..I’m good…it needed to be downloaded.

  • BeckyMD

I can totally see Kris doing ‘bright lights’. I luv that song.

  • Eileen99

OK, that’s it, I’m going to have to shell out bucks for Kris’ iTunes pass. Dang it, I was trying to wait for the actual CD to come out, but. can. not.

Oh, and too bad he isn’t playing the viola on tour; however, I think I read an interview where he said he’d probably play viola on his album. Super awesomely cool.

  • cay

I’m pretty sure the duet is part of Adam’s 5 song set. Allison got 3 songs, Danny 4, and Kris/Adam 5. From what I hear, they all could choose to do a duet if they wanted. Only Adam and Allison wanted to. I know some Adam fans are upset that he is using one of his songs for this, but he has said numerous times that he had so much fun doing this song. And if he has fun, I think the fans will have fun. Plus, the Bowie medley could very well be longer than one song would be. I think the duet will add a lot to his set – it will be the only one and I think tons of fun.

Closing with Hey Jude and Believe couldn’t be more boring to me. Why aren’t they doing something more fun and current. Last year they sang Rhianna, and it was a blast. Room for personality. Great way to finish a concert. I’d rather they have done the rock star song from the finale – at least they could ham it up some and end on a fun note.

  • Q3

****by the way, does Adam have an endorsement deal with skingraft? If not, he should for all the free promotion he’s giving them! haha..

They are his friends, but I hope they give him the jackets for free.

BTW this is one of the designers

I don’t think they are giving him free clothes.

I remember in one of the recent interviews Adam said that “they (19E) had fixed him up” with some really cool clothes, giving me the impression that the tour costumes are paid for by 19E.

Also — in the YH Awards backstage interview with Kara, she asked him if he was buying his own clothes and he said “Yes”.

  • Tara

I see speculation on the thread of the video. Are they thinking that is Adam at the bar?

Hot video though. I may just have a Jack & Coke tonight, you know, in memory…or something.

  • nuttin2lose

scott, lil and sarver. those are the people hiding their songs and no one even cares abt them. every other person gives at least one song spoiler.

  • Q3

I like Kris’ set list. And we know it will end with a long version of Hey Jude.

Here’s my guess on the order: (I have know idea where he’ll put NoBo but I’d get it over with early.)

    1) Ain’t No Sunshine – piano
    2) No Boundries – with band
    3) Bright Lights (possibly by Matchbox 20) – piano
    4) Heartless – guitar
    5) Hey Jude – guitar

  • BeckyMD

I see speculation on the thread of the video. Are they thinking that is Adam at the bar?

I don’t think it’s him. Similar jacket tho. The song and video is HOT.

ETA: I would be dead if it was him.

  • AC

Danny has also said in other interviews that he is singing 3 country songs plus Laura Saltman from Dish of Salt tweeted that Danny serenaded her with What Hurts the Most in rehearsals so we can pretty safely say that Danny is singing PYT to start his set, WHTM and another country song in the middle and finishing his set with My Wish.

He says in the E interview that he’s doing something latin flavored for his second song, so what’s a latin flavored country song then? haha.. You know, it might not be What Hurts the most as one of his songs and that he really was just singing a little of that to her?

I realize we know most of Kradison’s set now. I am complete.. hehe

  • wyked_whyspers

I am kinda excited to see Kris’ outfit, seeing as how Adam said he would help him out with it.

I wonder if they will manage to work in the feathers Adam’s fans sent him for his birthday?

  • BestAI

When will I learn? I’m going to have to stop reading comments after articles. Danny talks about his haters? He doesn’t know what hate is. Adam has the most adoring fans, but otoh, the most vile posters you can imagine. I don’t know why it upsets me so much. Adam doesn’t deserve comments like that.

  • suebrody

Glam!Kris. He can borrow one of Adam’s jackets. He said he won’t wear guyliner but just this once… Now we need to see Adam in a short-sleeved white t-shirt, blue jeans, and sneakers. :)

    Lil, Sarver, Scott = boring

Actually, Lil might pleasantly surprise during the show, whereas Sarver and Scott…will not.

I now see I am going to have to purchase Kris’s season pass…

  • GeminiDolly

Thats a great song by MB20. I really hope thats part of Kris’ set.

  • d. b. cooper

Danny Gokey looks forward to singing a longer version of Michael Jackson’s ‘PYT’ ,

Making Danny Gokey the only person who could possibly be looking forward to this.

I had a sliver of hope for Gokey’s set before reading this. No more.

  • Tara

BeckyMD, Yeah, I couldn’t tell who they thought was “him”..but I didn’t see anyone that I would have thought, “omg, that’s “him” at all.

I am excited to see Kris’ outfit too. We’ll see how far Adam could get him away from torn jeans and T’s. He does wear more fitted shirts lately. I will say that.

  • Squirrely

Never mind I miss read the post

Really, the two of them could really do some cute things for the show. Like them dressing as each other. It would be really fun. But with the way they have “sets” it wouldn’t work out ..no way Adam will give up that special coat to dress like Kris for his entire set, lol…. now if they had time to change it would be funny to see.

  • suebrody

Adam can dress like Kris for MW and Kris can dress like Adam for Hey, Jude. What a way to end the show!

edit: Holy Smokes! Read my guidelines, don’t call out other posters. Stick to commenting on the subject.

I think that the rest of the top 10 will be a breath of fresh air to listen to cause I have to say I am sick of listening to Mad World, Heartless and so on.

It’s nice to have an element of surprise there and some new stuff.

  • galaxygrrl

Danny could be doing something like “La bama” That would work for him and it’s a crowd pleaser.

I keep on looking at http://skingraftdesigns.com/ who is making Adam’s jacket. I have to say I want one of their jackets.

I agree with what Scott says because that’s what his own songs really are, including “Dream World”. His EP just came available on iTunes and amazon.com today to prove it, as well as his previous CD where all words, music, arrangement, production, engineering and mixing were done by him.

There are people who cares about Scott. I’m one them, and there are many others more :) . Can’t wait to see him perform live next week. He’s the ONLY reason I go to the show. :)

  • lola

Glad to see Kris’ fans back to life again. This is the first time that I wish it’s already Sunday (Monday being a working day). I’ll be awake the whole night and wait for MJ to post some videos or at least some tweets. I need that Adam fix.

  • Tara

“Don’t you think it would look cute on me”

ohh, that is cute! I say do it.

  • niks

The tour starts in about 4 days, so spoilers don’t really matter to me at this point. The people who attend the first stop will spill everything in detail anyway.

OT: Scott now has a re-release of a pre-Idol EP with two bonus tracks available on iTunes and Amazon which started being sold today. Rickey posted about it already: http://www.rickey.org/?p=19008
MJ, maybe you should provide a post on it as well?

P.S. It sounds much like the style he is going to approach in his tour set list.

  • ines

Niks, I totally agree with you! :) I hope MJ will post it like rickey did. Thanks in advance MJ! :)

I believe that Danny is singing two country songs, a song with a Latin feel to it and “PYT”. A lot of people thought that he was singing three country songs, but I heard in a radio interview he gave a little while ago, that he is singing two country songs. He is supposed to be singing two old songs and two new songs.

So I believe that he will be singing two country songs “My Wish”, and I think that “What Hurts the Most”. Laura Saltman the reporter from Access Hollwyood mentioned him singing that to her in one of the tour rehearsals. And he will also be singing “PYT” plus the song with a Latin feel to it.

I am glad that he is singing the song with a Latin feel to it, and am excited about that. Because he really loves that type of music and we never got a chance to see him perform that type of music on the show.

So I want to see how that type of music suits him. And I have seen a list with some of his Latin influences on it, so I am curious and excited to see what song will choose.

  • Squirrely

edit: yes it is OFF TOPIC AND DOES NOT BELONG IN THIS POST. If you MUST post it in the headlines thread

I remember an article where Adam was commenting about the the transition of Hey Jude (nah nah nah)where all of them will come in and join Kris and then to their final song. So I guess the posters are right in saying that Hey Jude will be Kris last song with Don’t Stop Believing as the groups’ final number.

  • washpd

    edit: OFF TOPIC!

  • BestAI

If the rest of the group come in on Hey Jude, how do they get the second piano on stage for the DSB? I’m assuming Kris will be playing the piano for HJ.

So when the audience keeps applauding for an encore, does Kris come back for the encore?

  • BestAI

BTW, I’m thinking not all ten are in Portland. Allison tweeted Portland tomorrow. Since they had the day off, I would have thought Adam and Kris stayed behind also to do more recording, as did Allison.

    Danny:

Danny talks about being inspirational more than any human being I’ve ever seen. He still doesn’t get that inspiration is a “doing” kind of thing, not a “saying” thing.

His EP just came available on iTunes and amazon.com today to prove it, as well as his previous CD where all words, music, arrangement, production, engineering and mixing were done by him.

Thanks Squirrely! Thought so. Enjoyed the E! Daily 10 piece. Debbie M. at least called herself out if she was going to go with the same ole, lame ole questions. Adam: Uh, drinking … (Kris laughs).

Funny you should mention, as I just watched a replay of Michael Jackson filming a video in Rio (They Don’t Care About Us 1996) where that’s more or less what he’s wearing — he ripped the T-shirt from the neckline down the front middle while dancing and he had on basic blue jeans, and maybe tennis shoes too IIRC. LOL It worked for him too, I liked it!

Good enough for MJ, good enough for AL. ;-)

Only thing I want to know about that jacket of Adam’s is just what kind of tails are we talking about here, Willis? I keep waffling between “….tying up my white tie, brushing of my tails” tails, and some kind of forked devil tail. Either would be wicked cool on a spikey blue leather kit. I’m hoping for the former, though – a little elegant urbanity would be welcome in the mix.

(But I’m incredibly annoyed at myself for wondering. At least costuming is slightly more performance related than the other standard non-music topics that are covered ad nauseum (grooming, groping and bff’s being the others). At least, that’s the convenient fiction I’m going with. Gotta maintain some semblance of something)

I keep waffling between ” ¦.tying up my white tie, brushing of my tails’ tails, and some kind of forked devil tail. Either would be wicked cool on a spikey blue leather kit. I’m hoping for the former, though – a little elegant urbanity would be welcome in the mix.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OIl7Ph5sYbg

We see the prototype for the “tails” at about 2:55 in this video … looks like a cross between traditional Fred Astaire tails and a bit of a forked tongue effect with a bit of a tail like thing from a Shamu character costume at Seaworld to me …lol

Of course it probably still needs to have all the spikes, studs, glitter, feathers, fringes, fur trim, streamers, party poppers, flames, smoke effects added to it along with it’s own light show .. but I’m sure the finished article will be fantabulous :thumbup_tb:

Looking forward to Kris’s set. I’m not familiar with the Matchbox 20 song. Will have to look it up on IMEEM, but I love all the others and as long as Kris is singing it I’m happy.

  • jmds88

My God, Adam’s doing Whole Lotta Love! I didn’t know about that, but I’m psyched! I was expecting he’d do that! Yaaaaay! :jittery_tb:

  • ShariG

I don’t think the basic tee and jeans is Adam’s style. He is a glam rocker. Half of the fun for him is the costumes. He is the Freddy Mercury of our time. (PS, I do love Kris in the tee shirt and jeans thing though. He is the James Taylor of our time.)

  • spring2009

Kris looks absolutely fantastic in the basic tee-shirt, jeans and sneakers outfit.

That is why Kris is ….Kris

    So why wouldn’t Adam?

    Because Adam is not Kris.

I think some ripping and slashing might be involved

Oh, I am sooo ok with this!

  • ShariG

In past years a piano has come up on the stage by some kind of elevator or lift. It just kind of rises up from under the stage. They may do something like that again for the dueling pianos.

  • ShariG

I hope Kris is singing in some duets or mini group numbers as well as his five solos. And you know what, I love his version of No Boundaries. It has really grown on me. I am very excited about the tour. Someone mentioned they were glad that the Kris fans were coming to life. Just want to say I have been here all along loving Kris and showing my support. There are lots of us out here waiting to hear our guy sing on tour and looking forward to his debut album.

… and Adam can be standing on top of it as it rises up through the stage, a bit like the Mad World Final performance.

I love the song Begging .. and will be interested to see how they perform it

  • ShariG

Best AI, I feel exactly the same way about some of the derrogatory posts about Kris. He doesn’t deserve it either. They are both such talented nice guys. I hope they both have a wonderful reception on the tour.

  • ShariG

Cay, typically the runner up only gets 4 songs not five. So if Adam and Allison are singing their duet and he has four other songs he is not using one of his solos for the duet. He is once again being given the winner treatment even though he was the runner up. I think Kris is an extremely generous guy who probably doesn’t care, but as a Kris fan, I would like to see Kris treated like the American Idol winner that he is.

  • ShariG

I’ve got to say I agree with Anoop. It was terribly rude of the judges this year to chat and play around with each other while any of the contestants were singing and they seemed to do that more tha usual this year. How distracting for the contestants not to mention extremely disrespectful.

  • wyked_whyspers

To glam up Kris’ look I think he should stick to the basic white tee and ripped jeans and add a vest by skin graft, not too fancy, in a nice rich brown color with some studs running down the front of each side and those feathers woven through the studs to add some texture to the vest and some brown boots. That would be really cool without veering too far away from his normal style.

  • AC

Oh yeah, wasn’t there a group(?) performance of You Can’t Hurry Love too? I remember reading about Scott and Matt on “dueling” pianos on this as well. I’m thinking that 5-10 is going to have a group performance on their own where they have little mini duets as part of their group stuff. (with Megan and Sarver with their bluegrass duet, Lil and Anoop on Beggin’, and Scott and Matt on You Can’t Hurry Love). I remember that the top 4 last year did not get it’s own group performance.

I think they can treat Kris as the winner by letting him Not perform No Boundaries. hehe.. I don’t even know why I diss the song anymore since I find myself putting it on repeat. haha. please don’t make fun

If Adam got only three solos, then they would be treating Danny as the runner-up and not Adam. It all seems fair, Kris has five solos, Adam four solos and a duet, Danny four solos, Allison three solos and a duet. I don’t know how much more fair you can get. Kris is closing, and he might even get an encore song, which would give him six solos. Kris is being and has been treated as the AI winner all along. Adam getting more buzz had nothing to do with AI.

oooh yes that sounds like a very good idea .. perhaps it would also be slightly more risque if a detachable hood was added to the vest.

… Adam on the other hand could ease himself into the white t shirt and jeans look by perhaps limiting himself to a small diamonte trim around the neck and sleaves of the t shirt … he could also be allowed to have one small feather (something like that from a canary or a budgie) hanging from a plain brown belt. :cool1_tb:

I just went to youtube to hear Bright Lights since I am not familiar with it. It’s a pretty, rock song. My only concern is that it might be too rockish for Kris mellow voice and basically it was the guitar sound towards the end of song that people went crazy. But knowing Kris, he might be rearranging it to suit his voice.

  • ShariG

LOL AC I put it on repeat too. It is my guilty secret. For as much as I hated NB on the final performance night, I love the recording of it on I Tunes. Kris does a great job with it. I wouldn’t mind the studded vest for Kris, but Kris remained true to his own style all the way through idol and I hope he does in the tour, too. Adam, too. I think that is a part of their success. They knew who tem were as artists and never gave in to pressure form the judges or anyone else to change. Not that the judges asked Adam to change anything, but you know what I mean.

If this is how it is going down, I think that is perfectly fair. Singing time should be based on order of elimnation and this lineup does that.

On another note: As a Danny fan, I am a little worried about the latin flavored song. I know there are not many Danny fans on this blog, but can anyone think of a decent fairly well known latin flavored song that doesn’t sound corny? Yeah, just a little worried.

Although I enjoyed Adam (my pick to win) much more on the show than Kris, I am totally liking Kris’s setlist better than Adam’s. Many of Adam’s I dont know, and I dont like Whole Lotta Love or that Let’s Dance song….ugh. And, although I thought Adam and Allison had a great performance with Slow Ride, I just don’t like the song. It’s just a matter of personal syle, but I’m not thrilled with Adam’s set.

  • lola

I have to be honest. I guess Adam fans are just being polite. But with the way things are going, Kris and Adam are both treated as winners by AI. Both of them have 2 songs in the Season 8 album among others.

  • ross

I have absolutley no problem with Adam getting the usual four songs plus his duet with Allison. Kris is my favorite, and the reason I bought tickets to this concert. I’m a huge fan of his. But I’m not going to complain if we’re getting more songs. I’m looking forward to that Adam-Allison duet. It will be fantastic.

Adam performed brilliantly all season. He brought a lot of attention to the show, and he was completely gracious when Kris won. I’m glad they’re giving him a little extra for all that. He deserves it.

And I’m sure when we see Kris is concert he will be fantastic, so, not to worry.

As for gamming him up — lol! Thing is, the simpler he dresses the better he looks, because he’s great looking and has a good body, and dressing him up is just gilding the lily. So to speak. But I like reading about some of the ideas!

I have to be honest. I guess Adam fans are just being polite. But with the way things are going, Kris and Adam are both treated as winners by AI.

If they have two people they think they can sell as stars, why shouldn’t they? It would be pretty dumb of them to treat Adam like a loser. Ultimately it’s what they do in the future as artists that is all that’s going to matter, anyhow.

  • BestAI

Maybe Adam can wear a plain black t-shirt and his crystal tie his fans sent him from Singapore. He has quite a fan base there. I saw the pic of the tie, and it was really beautiful – quite elegant. I don’t know when and where he can wear it, tho. They said they also sent him other jewelry and books.

I remember duets and group songs in season five as well as the solos, but I don’t recall all of the issues over who sings how many. I think the boys sang more then the girls – if I recall correctly. Eh, I’m still hoping Adam sings five solos – he and Kris consider themselves both winners so maybe they are treating them equally, and there are two headliners instead of one.

  • ShariG

Maybe Danny has too many solos. I am trying to remember last year. It seems like Archie had four solos. Does anyone remember? Also, it was crappy of AI to put Adam’s version of the coronation song on the Season 8 CD. Has the runner up ever before been promoted singing the coronation song in the past? Not that I can remember. Although the year that Carrie Underwood won, I liked Bo Bice’s version of the song better than Carrie’s. It is that kind of thing that really bothers me. So, if Adam has the same number of songs as Kris whether duets or solos it is not giving Kris his due in my opinion. In terms of the buzz, yeah, Kris would have to suddenly announce that he is gay or getting a divorce to get the same amount of buzz. I don’t think he’s looking for that kind of buzz.

  • Squirrely

I looked up previous CDs and some have a song from all 12 finalists and not just the top 10.

  • lola

Yes, Kris is not looking for that kind of buzz Adam is having. So what’s this about man crush are in or I got a crush on Adam. I know it’s a joke but at least Kris is learning how to tease the media and have people talking. He has to reinvent himself or Adam will continue to be dominant in the entertainment scene. The media just loves Adam because he does not shy away from their questions. Someone even commented that he is sweeter than sweet.

  • girlygirl

While the tour producers can’t control who gets the most buzz in the media, they CAN control who gets to sing the most solos. I am fairly confident they will treat Kris as the winner and give him the most solos. It would be a major slap in the face to Kris if they didn’t, and I doubt 19 and whoever else produces the tour really wants to deal with any backlash if they disrespected Kris — and there would be a backlash, because basically it would be a F-U to the people who voted for Kris. This would be a different thing entirely from the media going ga-ga over Adam.

And personally, I can’t see Adam agreeing to this, even if the tour producers suggested it. Adam has consistently said Kris deserved to win and supported him — I think he realizes it would be totally disrespectful to go against what the AI Tour has done every other season in terms of who sings how many songs and what order they perform in. Adam seems thrilled with his set — he doesn’t seem to care that he has one less solo than Kris.

  • karenw

I seem to recall that Blake Lewis got a heck of a lot of songs (solo’s and duets) the year he was runner up .. not sure what the total was in comparison to Jordan but there was a lot of mini group/duet kind of performaces on top of him doing a fair number of solo’s.

I honestly don’t think that Adam getting one less solo but an additional duet is taking the glory of being the winner away from Kris and I very much doubt that Kris is bothered or playing the “,meeeeh, he’s got the same number of songs as me …. not fair” thing. It looks like Kris is going to be doing a really good set at the end of the show in his rightful position as winner … so what does it matter if Adam gets to perform one duet with Alison on top of his solo set … afterall it was a very popular duet and I’m sure a lot of AI fans will look forward to seeing it performed live.

… and it’s not like Adam just decided to be gay in order to get any buzz .. the fact is that he is gay and it was the media who created that buzz. If people didn’t make such a bit thing about his sexuality then he wouldn’t have had to make any sort of announcement at all.

  • BestAI

In terms of the buzz, yeah, Kris would have to suddenly announce that he is gay or getting a divorce to get the same amount of buzz. I don’t think he’s looking for that kind of buzz.

Actually, Adam was getting buzz from the beginning of the season because of his singing, not because he was gay. There were many industry people who were recognizing Adam’s talent. He may not be your cupa, but he got people’s attention from his vocals, stage presence and charisma (and they thought he was gorgeous). If you don’t like Adam, you wouldn’t know this. I had followed Adam from day one, and people were talking about him like you wouldn’t believe, and like I mentioned, it had nothing to do with his sexuality.

  • Trina

Eh, I’m still hoping Adam sings five solos – he and Kris consider themselves both winners so maybe they are treating them equally, and there are two headliners instead of one.

It’s not being treated equally though. If Adam gets 5 solos, plus the duet with Allison it’s more than Kris is getting. So of course he’ll get 5 solos because this show hasn’t been fair since Kris won anyway. I’m shocked Adam isn’t going last while they’re at it.

  • ross

I don’t think Kris is all about the entertainment scene, he’s about making music. You have a good point, but, you know, how much of a media darling is someone like Chris Daughtry? Some music stars are all about courting media attention and some aren’t. I think you can have a successful career either way. Kris is smart because he’s just being himself. It’s the right way to go. All his fans love him for it.

And as for the media: the media is notoriously fickle.

  • Tara

“As for gamming him up ‘” lol! Thing is, the simpler he dresses the better he looks, because he’s great looking and has a good body, and dressing him up is just gilding the lily. So to speak. But I like reading about some of the ideas”!

Maybe not glammed up, but he sure looks a lot better now with the fitted shirts and tighter jeans than he did during auditions. You are right, he has the body, show it. He looks great.

  • Squirrely

Now I’m wondering if people will actually sit in the arenas and count how many solos Adam has instead of actually enjoying the show – LOL.

This stuff is probably so trivial to the guys we are discussing. The four and duet maybe correct, or it could be five and the duet also Kris could have asked Adam to sing more being that he felt rather torn about winner, who knows.

  • aek

Everything I’ve seen seems to point to 4 solos and the duet for Adam. I think Kris will get more alone singing time than Adam. Maybe not much more, but more.

I’m more worried about how Kris will be treated with regards to how they will push him afterwards with his music than I am about the tour. I wasn’t a big fan of Kris on the show, but the winner should be treated as the winner imo.

I really think Kris will get slightly more singing time than Adam. Adam will get slightly more than Danny and Danny will get slightly more than Allison. I don’t think they will be overtly unfair like that to any of them.

  • Squirrely

In addition to this he’s not contacting Gene Simmons to make derogatory comments, or HI-FI to swindle him – as that reporter said hoopla just finds him.

  • lola

Yup. The # of songs to sing is so trivial. I think what will count the most is who among them will have the greatest impact to the audience and to the media critics since they for sure will make a review after the show.

I don’t know what you are talking about. How has Kris not being treated fairly. He got everything the winners get. He even got Adam’s support and validation. Granted, some interviewers tell Adam he should have won, but he immediately disputes that and says, Kris won fairly and he is extremely talented. So Kris even has Adam in his corner.

  • alxsavage

Bright Lights? I’m impressed. Kris has a very, very fine taste. That song brings a lot of great memories to me. I would actually enjoy his set very much.

I don’t mean to be cruel, but it does makes me feel better to think about Danny’s set whenever I feel bad about not being able to go to the tour.

Yes, to this! It’s fair, the way it is. Kris goes last, with the most solos. Sounds very fair. The fans wanted “Slow Ride” and this was a great way to do it and give the audience more of Adam, without giving him another solo.

Yes, yes, and YES!! This is true. I love Kris also and I KNOW he won. Kris and Adam KNOW Kris won. 19 KNOWS Kris won, so why do we have to constantly haggle about this? K and A are fine with it and by all accounts, extremely happy with the way it turned out. And they also seem to get a kick out of being cast as a “Dynamic Duo.” They’re both signed with 19. They both have deals. They both have a tremendous following. They play GREAT off each other (and take the pressure off of each other when it counts). They are Yin and Yang. It works for them. It works for 19. It works for Idol. And it SHOULD work for the fans. So what is the problem? We’re fighting over who gets the biggest piece? What are we, 5?

  • Susan M.

Ross: Agreed. If that doesn’t come across, I will gladly hand Kris a cupcake, pat him on the head and assure him that we like him best. [While winking at Adam, of course, I mean, I'm not crazy ...]

Can I just say that I’m kinda sick of all the talk about who’s getting more songs or what not? Kris is getting 5 solos and Adam 4 solos and a duet and as a bigger fan of Kris, I’m happy with that. I don’t know why people would want them to sing any more (okay, I do wish it but still) since they have to record also! I want them in top form for the album! hehe. Also, Kris has said (in his video on the idol website) that he will be touring after his album drops so I can’t wait for that! and you know Adam will be touring for his stuff too so if we want them to sing any more, we can just go see their solo shows!

By the way, I don’t trust reviews either because I remember reading one where they slammed Archie but praised Kristy Lee Cook.. What?! so reviews are always biased. I just want to have fun watching them, and i’m not going to judge them. Also, it’s not like any of them ever really sucks live.

I think you are so desperate to see Adam win over Kris by any means and it’s pathetic. By saying that you are admiting 19 is unfair to Kris, you are actually admiting that Kris is being sabotaged the whole season and even after the show, you are admiting that 19 is trying everything they can to pimp Adam no matter what. You are admiting the shameless of 19. You are admiting that Kris is really a contender to overcome these disadvantages to become the Idol.
I am fully confidence that 19 will give Kris 5 solos and Adam 4 solos. Even there is a slight chance that they do break rule to pimp Adam, this’ll be a huge controversal to both 19 and Adam. It will totally stripe down the mask that they are contorlling everything about the show, and it will damage the credit of the show in a huge way.
Anyway I don’t think they are really stupid enough to go this far.

  • BestAI

BTW, in Carrie U season, she and Bo Bice sang four solos each and a duet together. I bet people weren’t complaining back then.

  • karenw

Surely if people are quibbling over Adam and Kris getting the same number of songs (even though one of Adam’s is a duet), then the same rule should apply for Alison and Danny .. I don’t see a huge fuss over the fact that Alison and Danny are possibly getting to do 4 songs each (with one of Alison’s being a duet) .. does this mean that TPTB are treating Alison like the third placed contestant.

I think too much ifuss is being made of it .. it sounds like it will be a great show .. people shouldn’t have to sit in the audience with their abacuses out checking that someone isn’t getting more songs than anyone else.

  • lola

“I worry about Adam and the conservative states and the reception he would get from the audience.”

    - That will be understandable and I won’t worry. The media is very much aware of the scenario that he does not fit in well on the conservative states and it’s good that they know this ahead of time….they won’t be expecting these conservative audience to love Adam. Even Adam won’t be surprise. And I won’t be surprise but rather it’s justified. However, if it turns to be the other way around, then good for Adam. It means America is progressing.

  • ross

So what is the problem? We’re fighting over who gets the biggest piece? What are we, 5?

Well, the winner should get the biggest piece. It’s a competition, AI sets it up that way. They set it up as a prize they reward you for. When you win, they should reward you.

As long as the winner gets his due, I’m not fighting over anything. :)

I worry about Adam and the conservative states and the reception he would get from the audience.

I don’t know about all the conservative states, but Adam was hugely popular in states like Florida and Mississippi and Alabama.

  • AC

I wouldn’t worry about the “conservative” states either because if they really had a problem, would they really buy a ticket for the show? Everyone gets applause but of course home states would applaud more for their own.

You know what? If they did let Kris have a duet too, he would be forced to be with Danny and we all know how that turned out last time.

Also, I’m thinking Lil does Be Without You since that was her one memorable song. I wonder what kind of dancing she’ll do.. hehe. She should sing Single Ladies and do that dance since they do have the choreographer handy!

  • Squirrely

As someone mentioned before Carrie and Bo were equal and Blake possibly had more than Jordin, so what would be the problem if and I said ‘IF’ Adam did have equal solos… It seemed to have happened in the past with no issues.

‘ ¦and this is why I’m not taking my daughter to see the idol concert’ ¦

    Because?

  • Susan M.

I don’t know, I just hope we are really, REALLY underestimating the “Conservative states.” I mean, c’mon, Kris is from Arkansas, and look how people over-generalized him and he’s turned out to be one of the most enlightening, progressive, cool, genuine public figures I’ve come across in a long, long time.

I know there are the venom-spreaders out there, but I’ve also read countless posts from people saying they consider themselves devout Christians or hardcore conservatives and they found themselves loving Adam to distraction. It’s all possible.

[BTW, I'm having a difficult time editing. My changes aren't saved, then I get locked out. Weird.]

  • Squirrely

I hope they have mixed groups singing this time around too.

  • hollygo9

‘I worry about Adam and the conservative states and the reception he would get from the audience.’

I’m going to go out on a limb and say that anyone who would shell out the money for the Homage de Fromage is neutral on the gay thing.

  • clearone

SusanM, kudos to you. Sometimes I feel like I’m banging my head against a double brick wall defending Adam. I think it is great that Adam has many ‘older’ (meaning over 30, even seniors) who are huge fans. They will have his back, in a fantardy, mature and powerful way.

It can be a blessing and a curse. Clay had the same sort of demographic and he became a laughing stock because of it and the actions of some of those fans. Let’s just say I hope those fans of Adam’s in that demographic aren’t like some of the ‘Claymates’. :eek_wp:

  • ross

I’m going to go out on a limb and say that anyone who would shell out the money for the Homage de Fromage is neutral on the gay thing.

    At the very least.

  • Q3

IMO From the moment the vote was announced, Kris has been treated like the winner. The concert is sequenced by how the Idols did in the vote — as always. Kris has the most solos. What isn’t fair?

The vast majority of Adam fans want to hear the maximum number of Adam songs. They do not want to take away anything from Kris, they just want to see Adam sign a lotof numbers. I’m sure it’s the same for other fan groups.

    1. I don’t know what else Adam could do to be more supportive of Kris as a winner. He’s never uttered a negative word about anything to do with Kris.

    2. I also don’t know what else Kris could do to be more supportive of Adam’s talent. He’s never uttered a negative word about anything to do with Adam.

    3. Their families seem to get along with each other.

    4. Neil Lambert wrote on his blog BEFORE the final vote results that he was OK if Kris won because he thought Kris was really talented and nice.

If Kris, Adam, and their families are getting alone, why can their fans do the same?

Ross summed it up really well:

If they have two people they think they can sell as stars, why shouldn’t they? It would be pretty dumb of them to treat Adam like a loser. Ultimately it’s what they do in the future as artists that is all that’s going to matter, anyhow.

  • ruskimom

Squirrely, I think that most people here are very reasonable. We kid and tease each other…and respect each other for the most part…however, all it will take is a few over zealous fans to create drama in the crowd…and if we sometimes get defensive with other’s posts…imagine what might happen face to face…I’m happy to wait for their solo tours…(translation: I want to throw that glitter without complaint!! I’m going to go out on a limb and say that anyone who would shell out the money for the Homage de Fromage is neutral on the gay thing.

I wouldn’t count on that, but I think a concert like this is not the time for them to make noise about such a thing. They are spending money for Kris, Danny, and other Christians. Some may take their pee break when Adam is on.

With that said, there are many conservative Christians who love Adam. I’ve seen them in the forums, and there are many of them. You have to remember, Adam did get more votes than Danny, and he made it to the finals.

  • AC

A four-song medley will spotlight Michael Sarver, Lil Rounds, Megan Joy, Matt Giraud, Scott MacIntyre and Anoop Desai. “There are some duets in it, there’s a group number, there are a couple of solo spots, but each of those Idols is featured,” says tour producer/director Raj Kapoor.
That’s from a USA Today article i posted a link to in the Headlines thread but this should answer our question about one of the group numbers. So the bottom 6 basically get more songs than the top 4. that sucks even more.. hehe.. they could have totally cut that out to make room for a Kradam duet!

  • Susan M.

I totally understand that. Respect is the key word and I saw in this past Presidential election some people don’t know what that means. And I am in no way comparing a talent show to the Presidential election, I’m just saying that I hated the intolerance of some people within the conservative states.

WELL, HELL! I’m gonna have to tell the rest of the guys that you are on to us. As usual, we have organized and strategized a proper “welcoming” for one such as Adam. The Show the Queer We Ain’t Gonna Put Up With That Shit Down Here Committee recommended that we tar and feather him, but our Most Supreme Instigator and Enforcer, brilliant and all knowing as he is, said the dude loved to be greased down naked with his boas on, so he would just think we were lovin’ him, anyway!

Even as I read your posts, I wuz helpin’ plan another special treatment. BUT, SHEEEET!!! You mean the MEDIA is on to us, now! Oh, well, only about 300 people in each of the Deep South and our brethren Yankee, Mid-Western and West of The River conservative states were gonna attend because it is well known that gayness is contagious, and that wild music is an accelerant, so we’ll just cancel.

    America is degenerating.

    WTF is all this!
Adam has been getting all the buzz from the very beginning of the season because of his UNIQUE, UNBELIEVABLE singing and style!!! those who think he’s getting the buzz because of his sexuality are just beyond ridiculous, or just jealous!

but this guy just can’t help it! he’s the most exciting and talented one of the whole group! he just stands out wherever he goes! many people would agree, especially people who are in the industry!

Kris won, got signed, got the most solos and will be the last to perform! what else could you ask for? what is not “fair” here! and don’t get me started about “fairness”, because you all know why Kris won. it’s not JUST because of his talent. it’s also about some Americans “voting against Adam”. winning the competition doesn’t guarantee anything except signing a deal. the rest of it, media interest, future career, success, longevity…you’ve got to earn it with your own merits, not by winnig a title.

no matter what, Adam’s got the WHOLE package and will be an international star(if he is not already!) let’s be frank, everybody knows more or less about what the voting was going on in AMERICA. but the whole WORLD is watching and waiting for ADAM to rise, shine and take over everything!

HOWEVER, Kris is a nice and cool guy. his music is good, too! the thing is, as soon as the competition is over, they are not competing anymore. they are both new kids in the industry! there’s enough room for both of them but its also gonna be a harder journey! who cares how many solos they have. it’s just the idol tour, for heaven’s sake. their own career has barely started yet! wait and support them when they have their own music. they will have to compete against so many brilliant artists out there, not compete with each other!

  • desiiiire

So why didn’t you vote harder for Adam that night, lovethecheesyshow ?

  • SarahP

i’m super jealous of all you guys going to the concert and seeing the idols in person :down_tb:

just wanted to know if MJ will put up videos of the tour and will there be live updating? i can drown my envy tears by watching the tour videos again n again

  • lovethecheesyshow

ah! I don’t want to start this!
but because I COULDN’T vote outside your country! and I thought America could get it right…and tons of people are just like me. we couldn’t vote but counted on America to get it right!

anyway, it’s just the title of American Idol you guys voted for, and we’ve got our World Idol! it’s the one and only Adam Lambert!

I hope he could start his own world tour in the future, come to every continent and see how much we love him and appreciate his music and style!

  • aek

I wouldn’t worry about the ‘conservative’ states either because if they really had a problem, would they really buy a ticket for the show? Everyone gets applause but of course home states would applaud more for their own.

You know what? If they did let Kris have a duet too, he would be forced to be with Danny and we all know how that turned out last time.

I don’t think (and certainly hope not) there will be obvious problems in the conservative states, at least noticably during the concert. I live in SC. As I’ve stated before, every single person that I came in contact with was either a Danny or Adam fan (I work at a public school and teach 6th-9th graders).

I do remember a commentary from two of my 7th grade girls, though. It was after Danny had left, and the one girl was saying she wanted Kris to win, and the other was saying that she was pulling for Adam. The Kris fan said to the other, don’t you think he’s gay? And the other girl said, “I don’t care, he’s fun!” That was the only real “gay” mention that I remember. And the girl who said it is a sweet as they come and would never be overtly mean to someone.

I think you find that alot. People may be homophobic on some level, but by and large they don’t want to be overtly mean and hateful to people. So hopefully there won’t be any major problem.

With that said, I did read some of those comments after the article, and they were hateful. So yeah, I’d say I do have some concern that there may be the occasional person that will say or do something hurtful. I’ve had this concern for Danny, too. I could actually see someone going up to either of them and saying something hurtful during a meet and greet or something. I actually remember someone bragging about saying something hateful to Taylor during a meet and greet session in Season 5. I think if it happens, it will be Adam and/or Danny that it happens to, and NEITHER of them deserve it. I sincerely hope people will be respectful of all of the idols.

Gosh, I know I was long winded, and I’m sorry. But I do want to say, while Danny and Kris’s duet performance was not so good (I still think it was lack of practice time), am I the only one who really enjoys the studio version? I think they both sound great on this one.

  • Squirrely

The recorded version is good, I agree with Randy the harmonizing is the best part.

  • Kirsten

Now I’m wondering if people will actually sit in the arenas and count how many solos Adam has instead of actually enjoying the show – LOL.

No, but once we get the set lists reported to this site, I’m sure people will count them then. The night of the first concert, some people are bound to be pooling around this site waiting for updates as to who sang what when.

‘I worry about Adam and the conservative states and the reception he would get from the audience.’

I recall a lot of people assumed that Sanjaya was gay (he has since stated that he is not) and I don’t recall him having any problems in the “conservative” states (“conservative” in quotes because California is the state that voted to outlaw same sex marriage while it is legal in Iowa, so I’m not sure the definitions of “conservative” and “liberal” necessarily apply on this topic).

I think that Adam will be fine. It’s not like he’s the first gay Idol (I have no idea why the press fixated on it this year. There have been gay contestants since season 1) and just about every male Idol has been classified as gay by somebody (remember the fake-girlfriend rumours for Taylor?). Clay being gay was a surprise to almost nobody.

They are spending money for Kris, Danny, and other Christians.

Again, using season 6/Sanjaya as a bench mark, there were several openly “Christian” people on Idol that year too. Chris Sligh and Phil Stacey are Christian artists, Melinda had toured with Christian artists, Jordin is quite open about her faith and Lakisha’s claim to fame was being in a church choir or something. Anyway, again, Sanjaya was treated well and the “Cake” contingent was strong (despite being called names by Blake).

Some may take their pee break when Adam is on.

So? More room in the bathroom when Danny/Sarver/whoever is on. Who gives a crap who is in the bathroom when? Sometimes, people just have to pee. I hope nobody is counting how many people leave their seats during each set. Instead of the clap-o-meter, we may be subjected to the pee-o-meter. I better not have anything to drink prior to the concert lest I offend somebody.

I really wouldn’t worry about it. It’s a concert. Most people are just there to have fun. I remember going to one AI concert and the women beside me were trashing a certain contestant prior to the concert starting, but I couldn’t help but notice they still stood up and danced to his set too. Most people are normal.

Yeah, lets hope so. There have been two contestants that I didn’t particularly like. At the concert for both of these contestants I stuck around for their sets (if I had had to pee, I would have, but I wasn’t going to leave to make some kind of hateful “statement”).

When they finished their sets, I clapped politely, and then cheered for the next person coming out. (One of these I actually “met” before a concert and he was a total jerk. I liked him fine before this, however.)

In the end, we really don’t know any of these kids. Some that we think we don’t like, if we knew them, we actually might like them. Others that we think that we do like, we might not like so much in person. We really just don’t know them.

And for me, even if I don’t like their singing, it’s really not that hard to “zone out” during their set, look at the program, etc. I think/hope most people are like this. Maybe it will be harder for people to act like as*holes in a public place with people actually watching them, than it is for them to do so anonymously on the Internet.

    - pimp spots

    - amount of performance staging
    - “background” coverage in the packages
    - all the many voting tabulation sites
    - # of singles/albums sold
    - # of radio spins
    - fans signed up on your official websites
    - fans online at your official websites
    - coverage in the press
    - questions asked to each in interviews together
    - # of twitter followers
    - # of songs/duets

    yet to be added?
    - minutes of performance time
    - # of fans who wear your tour colors
    - # of people that leave for the bathroom when you are on
    - amount of cheering you get
    - # of fans in line for you at the meet & greets
    - # of albums you sell
    - amount of airplay
    - how 19 markets your albums
    - how your albums are covered in the press
    - who revolutionizes the music industry
    - world domination

    will it EVER end? :wallbash_tb:

KRIS won american idol. they can BOTH win at life. and IMVHO WE win for having these two as our top two to talk about because i guarantee neither of them gives a flying flip about any of the comparisons.

I’m not sure what a “conservative state” is but I don’t think this will be a problem. I don’t see that Memphis or Atlanta are so conservative. Just look at Adam’s fanboards; he’s got loads of fans in the South, in the Mountain West, etc. There are Adam fans everywhere.

Yeah – I’m with Kirsten. She pretty much covered what I was thinking, so I don’t have to say much :)

Just this: The tv pundits can Red State / Blue State all they want. But, states are REALLY big places. No how no way can you make generalizations about the opinions of a group of people that large. Heck, you can’t even make generalizations about the opinions of 5 people in the same room.

My brother and I grew up in the same house, 13 months apart, and he’s probably the person I share the most life experiences with. Yet, we’ve never voted the same way once. I can’t even pinpoint my own family, so I know can’t do it with an entire geography.

  • girlygirl

Allison is promising to post pictures from the tour on her twitter site (yay). She also tweeted that she’ll be in Portland sometime tomorrow (Thursday) — I would assume that Adam and Kris will also be heading out then (although neither has tweeted their travel plans)

And Matt evidently likes being in a state with no sales tax!

Matt tweets: #Soooooo…I totally took advantage of the no sales tax today. That’s all I’m gonna say about that. :) #about 3 hours ago from web

I dislike any kind of generalizing. I’m liberal, myself, but it’s a bit offensive to hear people equate conservatives or Christians with ignorance, bigotry, and hate.

And as for states, I’m from Massachusetts, a liberal state that has still seen its share of race prejudice and other kinds of intolerance over the years. I mean, I just don’t think it’s that easy to make assumptions.

Funny response by Alex Wagner-Trugman to Kris’s tweet about having written a song:

@KrisAllen4Real so what? you think yorue cool or something? enjoy portland homeslice

  • didilynn

I am really shocked but how many people are making a big deal about how many songs each contestants “get” like this is still a contest??? I thought the contest was over?

I think it’s been pretty well agreed upon that Kris has 5 solos, Adam 4 plus a duet which is effectively 4.5. So Kris still has “the most” – relax people! That Adam/Allison duet was extremely popular so I think it’s great they’re throwing it in. And still letting Adam and Allison have their share of solos also.

I like a lot of the contestants (singing certain songs) and especially Adam/Kris/Allison. But I admit, I wouldn’t be shelling out $100 for this ticket if it wasn’t to see Adam live – I am beyond excited and my entire group of 6 feel this way.

I sure hope that concert goers are respectful to all performers, but from what I’ve read here, that may not be the case. How sad is that! Even the contestants that aren’t as popular with some of you (Scott, Michael or whoever) deserve respect and admiration for getting out there to entertain us.

Thankfully, I’m going in Oakland so I doubt the “homophobia” would be an issue there, because that would really upset me.

  • Squirrely

    Wow, long busy thread.

Just want to add that I’d hope to hear Kris do a Michael Jackson song — both as a tribute, but also because he was so great on the three he did on the show, especially “Man in the Mirror.” He really remade that song for me, captured its essence, and also gave me my first glimmer of what a fine musician he is.

I work with a 16 year old kid who never watched AI, but because of Rolling Stone, and internet articles, mainly, he’s heard of Adam and not the other idols. And even though he’s never seen Adam perform, he doesn’t like him. “They’re forcing him on me.” Or so he feels! So this stuff isn’t always good.

What you wrote about isn’t Adam’s fault, he’s a nice guy, and I’m sure he’d hate it.

    girlygirl, thanks for that clip!!!

Squirrelly definitely no offense taken. Just talking about these assumptions in general, you know.

  • aek

Also, as a non-Danny fan, I kinda wish he’s going to sing Kiss From a Rose since he sang it in Hollywood right? it was good.

He did sing it in Hollywood, and I liked it, too. I really like Danny on ballads.

Wonder if Danny’s going to go with that look for tour?

It’s a cute look for him, he looks younger

I thought he looked cute, too. But it looked like most of his fans were telling him to grow his facial hair back….saying he looked too young. :)

  • BeckyMD

nice work Kirsten! But how can you forget the twitter-field?

    # of twitter followers before/after the 1st show
    # of twitter followers increasing after the 1st, 2nd, 3rd,… show
    # of twitter mentionings before/during/after each show
    ….

  • BeckyMD

Seriously I don’t understand the comparison and fan battles between Adam and Kris. Their styles are totally different. Even if they launch their albums at the same time (almost sure there will be another round of long discussion when their singles and albums come out), they plead to different audience. I’ll be more worried if Lady Gaga or Muse have something out when Adam promo his album.

I don’t want to wag finger or guess other’s intention, but for me, if I like a singer and his style, then I like him. I don’t need to rely on counting magazine covers, interviews or twitter followers to justify my liking.

  • twinkle

FYI – if you use Pandora (free online radio) they have the American Idol music in their database which means you can create a radio station based on them. i put in “adam lambert” and it’s giving me quite an eclectic mix of songs :) mostly because it only has idol music to base it on and he covered quite a range. it’s played everything from Bush to sarah mclachlan to journey, with a few adam songs popping in.

also, for the first few songs it gives you reasons why that song was included based on its analysis of the artist you entered… it was interesting to see how it categorized adam’s sound in a technical way. it almost matched what he has said before “this song was selected for the strong guitar and dominant vocals with electronic something or other” (the pandora description was much more technical :) .

  • cookcricket

Now I’m wondering if people will actually sit in the arenas and count how many solos Adam has instead of actually enjoying the show – LOL.

I think Adam’s fans will be counting for sure.

Also Kris’s fans who know he’s the winner and that’s how the tour works, will be too.

I’m pretty cool with whole media thing for Adam. I love Kris for who he is and I think it will pay off in the long run. However, I definitely think if Adam was to get 5 solos & the duet w/ Allison, this would be crossing the line. UNLESS, Kris and Adam both got encores (5 solos for Adam, 6 for Kris.)

ETA: I don’t think that’s how it’s going to play out anyway. Kris=5 solos, Adam=4 solos and a duet.

  • ross

Wonder if Danny’s going to go with that look for tour?

He says it’s the last time shaving before the tour, so probably he’ll be letting it grow stubbly again? Can’t believe I’m talking about Danny’s facial hair.

Speaking of fans arguing, a personal experience I had not too long ago was my dentist and his hygenist arguing about who was better, Danny (the Dr.’s fave) or Adam (the hygenist’s), while he was filling my tooth! I was like: ‘Nnnooh! Kkrissh ish mushhh berrrer!’

Here is a random pic someone posted on Twitter of the idol guys (plus Scott’s brother) hanging out in Portland last night:

Okay, I have to tell someone this–I just bought a ticket to this tour (Seattle). I don’t really have the money right now, but I read this thread and then went to the website for tickets (where I have looked up tickets about 4 times now) and found a single ticket for the center floor section in front of the stage (row 17 seat 4). I found myself dusting off my emergency credit card and buying a ticket–and now I get to see ADAM and KRIS and everyone in a week–from 17 rows back! I don’t really believe I just did this….I have turned from a 40-something year old woman into a teenage fantard. OMG! Snicker.

I have never before wanted to go to an AI tour (just not invested enough), but this time I really feel I will be missing something big if I don’t see Adam/Kris/Allison. I’m especially looking forward to Adam singing Bowie and his outfit. I’ll make sure to report back and let you all know how it went.

Here’s the interesting and crazy thing–it’s the night of the 2nd concert (still working out the bugs and such in the show but really feels fresh), and it’s a FULL MOON. I can’t wait to see what this does to the crazy fans. The full moon does tend to affect behavior. Maybe it will even affect the idols ;-)

I gotta ask….how much did you have to pay for it?

  • lizardino

I gotta ask’ ¦.how much did you have to pay for it?

Well, it wasn’t as bad as it could have been (have you been to a Las Vegas show or Broadway show? Much more). The ticket itself was $70 or so with all the random fees they tack on, making the total about $86. Eek. On the other hand, it will be a lot more fun than paying my utility bill would be!

However, the concert venue is in Tacoma. A lot of concerts end up there, but it’s about 40 miles south of where I live in Seattle. It’s in the “Seattle area”, as they say. So instead of taking the bus into town, I have to drive an hour through traffic–yippee.

  • ross

I had to pay about the same for my ticket. It’s a floor seat, about the same as yours, more or less in the center. I couldn’t really afford it either, but there was no way I was going to miss it! I bought it before I knew who won, that didn’t even enter into it. I basically wanted to see Kris, if he only got three songs, I didn’t care. I’m really looking forward to seeing the others, though, too.

That’s not too bad. I gotta wait to they come to my side of the country, but I haven’t bought a ticket yet. The only thing about those floor seats is people will actually bring signs and hold them up…..I’m short. ugh.

I’m looking forward to the concert, though. My favorites are Adam and Danny, but I look forward to seeing them all. It should be fun. I haven’t been to a concert since Season 5, and I went to several then.

  • suz526

Well, after reading all of this for the last several days, I decided I couldn’t wait until the tour arrived in SD (July 18), so I just bought tickets for opening night in Portland. I say ‘tickets’ because there wasn’t the option to buy just one. So with the cost of airfare, and overnight stay, and 2 tickets ‘“ I’ll be paying for this for the next 4 months. And this is in addition to the SD show. Adam, what have you done? This is completely sick . . .

BTW, if you look at the Skingraft website (don’t have it handy, but someone posted it somewhere), they have a video of their fall 2009 fashion show. There is a man’s leather jacket with tails, in blue (I think that’s what pushed me over the edge . . .)

  • AC

I’m actually going to 2! Oakland and San Jose.. I think it’s the first time in a long time that the idols tour have been to Oakland. I actually bid on the ticketmaster auction and won the 7th row for $185! :blush_tb: The stupid thing was that if i bid on the other show, i would have won something at a lot lower price. I think my excitement for Kris got a little out of hand. haha

  • lizardino

Adam, what have you done? This is completely sick . . .

I am so glad I’m not the only one! And if someone waves a sign in front of my face, they’ll be sorry…

  • GlamGirlLee

Ugh. How come floor tickets were not available when I looked at San Jose one? I couldn’t go to Oakland although it is closer because I am going to Death Cab for Cuties that night. I have nosebleed seats for the San Jose one. I have floor-ticket envy now. :mrgreen_wp:

I hear ya. I thought of doing the same thing and hitting another state/city and getting a better ticket after I realized that getting better seats for single is a little easier. I might just do it too. Really, what have you done to me, Adam?

There are at least 3 concert ticket resale sites, including StubHub, that are promoting the AI Summer Tour tickets as ‘Adam Lambert Concert’ tickets.

I’ve been on Stub Hub, and they also have “Kris Allen Concert” tickets. It’s not just Adam.

  • spring2009

I have turned from a 40-something year old woman into a teenage fantard. OMG! Snicker.

That would be me. I will be in the 8th row in Hamilton (good God the idols have to see Hamilton of all the lovely places in Canada, I was hoping that Adam would have a night out in Toronto, but apparently the venue there is undergoing renovations – oh well, hopefully they come in and out while it is dark!)

So with the cost of airfare, and overnight stay, and 2 tickets ‘“ I’ll be paying for this for the next 4 months. And this is in addition to the SD show. Adam, what have you done? This is completely sick

No Boundaries. hehe.. I don’t even know why I diss the song anymore since I find myself putting it on repeat. haha. please don’t make fun

Not making fun AC, because I also like NB………the studio version by Adam.

  • Squirrely

I like NB, I play it a lot – of course Adam’s version. I am going to this show for Adam but I am looking forward to Lil – she’s grown on me, Matt, Kris and Allison.

Random quote from an interview with Kris’ mom – this shows how much Adam respects Kris’ talent

*About halfway through the season, Adam approached Kim and told her, ‘You know, me and your boy are going to be the final two standing.’ Kim asked Adam how he could be so sure. Adam answered, ‘Because I’m a singing freak of nature and he’s the only true musician.’ *

I love that freak of nature from the planet fierce.

Someone said it may not be a true quote but if it is I’m sure he’s just being cheeky. So weird how one person perceive something so differently from another person. I took it as a ‘don’t hate me cause I’m beautiful’ tongue in cheek comment. *shrugs*

  • Mary102

Oh! I can’t wait for the tour! Great songs all around. Kris’s set sounds good – glad to hear Ain’t No Sunshine will be on it, because that is one of my favs of his (he was amazing on it in the finale). Hearing that and MW from Adam will be beautiful!

LOVING Adam’s set! What great music! His is going to be killer, but I’m wondering about song order for him. He’s ending on Bowie, starting with a big entrance, and I’m guessing SR will be in the middle. Probably either starting with MW or WLL, then Starlight.

IDK about PYT after re-watching Top 13 night – I remembered Danny doing better on that than he did on Monday (seemed kind of pitchy to me), but it should sound great on tour, and have a lot of energy.

I’m actually looking forward to a lot of the other sets, though I’m probably least interested in Sarver and Scott. Megan should at least be humorous (the Kellie Pickler of the group, perhaps – and we better get a CAW CAW from her). Allison will be exciting to watch live!

  • oceana

PYT? Now I’m really glad I’m not going this year. Not even for Adam and Allison could I sit through Danny, Michael S, Megan, Lil, Anoop’s My Perogative, Scott, or the rest. I also fear that Adam will be a tough act for Kris to follow, but if Kris has a lot of fans in the audience maybe it will be fine.

Adam and Allison, I wish they would tour together, I’d be there.

  • Squirrely

I read it on Gossip Candy but I could have mistook it as true when it’s not. I thought it was a cute quote.

The people at ontd_ai are saying that the origins of the article are hazy and it should be taken with a grain of salt.

That said, if Adam did say the whole “freak of nature” thing, then he was definitely being cheeky–confident in his talent and appeal, but cheeky. :)

I don’t know though–seems odd for a fan to spend time making something like that up, but parts of the article read like fan fiction.

See below from IDF about worldwide domination, lol. I think both will have lots of fans on the tour just like the Davids had last year. Some say that Kris’ set will be aniclimactic. It all depends what makes you climax, hehe.

***UPDATED! Kris is now ahead in more countries! – The sales are very close

For “No Boundaries”, he is ahead of Adam in:

    U.S.A
    Belgium
    Canada
    Spain
    Greece
    Ireland
    Luxembourg
    Austria
    Sweden
    Switzerland – now leading! (02/07/09)
    UK – now leading! (02/07/09)

    But he is behind in:

    Australia
New Zealand (I am so disappointed! haha I am part NZ )
    Denmark
    Germany
    Finland
    France
    Italy
    Netherlands
    Norway
    Portugal

But currently it’s now 11-10 countries to Kris yay! I also checked the popularity bars and Kris has the most sales overall for ALL countries combined together!

People are putting them in competition over countries now? Obviously we’re all free to do what we want to do, but IMO we should just enjoy the success that these guys are having and will hopefully continue to have. As other posters said earlier, they are so different that there is little point in comparing them, and 10 countries vs. 11 countries seems especially arbitrary.

  • Mary102

KRIS won american idol. they can BOTH win at life. and IMVHO WE win for having these two as our top two to talk about because i guarantee neither of them gives a flying flip about any of the comparisons.

:clap_tb: I really liked this! I’m so sick of the comparisons. Even when the albums drop – if they both do well, I don’t really care who sells more.

The fact that Adam and Kris have been so cool about enjoying each other’s success in interviews should be the best lesson for how us fans should look at their future success.

  • PattyH

I would never use the sale of No Boundaries as a popularity meter! Yikes!

That’s another good point! The reason I don’t believe it is because from week to week Adam sure didn’t seem like he was confident in the fact that he was going to make it to the next round let alone the final. His reaction when he did make it into the top 2 was totally one of shock and surprise….plus while we know he respects Kris’s talent, I doubt he would disrespect the talent of all the others by saying something like that.

  • cookcricket

The only reason I find the ‘other country’ race/comparison (ugh) interesting is because Adam is supposed to be the huge one internationally and I just guess this shows that Kris is actually liked outside of the US.

I agree, they can both win in real life!

  • auntieaimee

I just want to say that “Bright Lights” would be a brilliant choice for Kris. This kid continues to impress me so much. He knows exactly the kind of stuff he should be doing. This also reminds me that I need to pick up Rob Thomas’ latest…

  • mmb

Wow…this thread has exploded since last nite….why all the sensitivity re: number of solos etc. etc. whether things are fair to Kris ….the only thing you are guaranteed as the winner of AI is a record contract, a title, the first appearances on a few talk shows as the “AI winner” and (this year at least) a trophy. That’s it. There is no guarantee as to number of songs during the tour, placement in the tour (altho it makes sense that the winner always goes last as will be the case this year). In past years both the winner and runner up have released a coronation single. AI has never been a “winner take all” competition, where the other contestants get nothing and the winner is the only one deserving of a music career and record deal. Everyone knew that win or lose Adam was going to be the “story” of the season. Altho Kris got more votes at the end there is no question that they are both immensely popular, so of course they will be given relatively the same amount of performance time on the tour. Only time will tell how Adam and Kris’ respective careers will go. They are completely different artists and are no longer and will never again be in competition with each other. Just enjoy what each of them bring to the table. It is going to be great entertainment to see them live. I for one can’t wait!

  • Anya

NO, they are not putting them in competition again, this is just info. Kris and Adam are both going to do well. They will both be great in concert. I’m looking forward to seeing both of them.

I too shudder at the thought of using NB as a popularity gauge. LOL

While it is information, that’s true, when the final paragraph reads: “But currently it’s now 11-10 countries to Kris yay! Not complaining, just saying…

FWIW, I remember last year feeling as though Archie was being treated as a co-winner. As a Cook fan, I wasn’t thrilled. Now, people say that Adam is being treated as a co-winner, and as an Adam fan, I’m fine with it. Go figure.

  • Mom in the Suburbs

I don’t believe Adam said that to Kris’s mom about being sure they would be the last two standing. I could see Adam saying good things about Kris getting through to the end, but not being so sure of himself; it always looked like Adam was surprised to get through and that he knew his appeal was not for everybody. Half-way through the competition?? Danny was still popular and I’m sure no one, including Adam, would have ever discounted that. I don’t like a lot of things about Danny, but there’s no denying that guy’s voice or the way the judges fawned and the audience reaction to Danny at that point (really he was a contender until the end). The only way this could be true was if Adam was joking around (“freak” implies something negative and off-putting to some, so maybe it was a joke).

If Kris is gaining popularity internationally these days, congrats to him. I see this as “catching up.” Adam has had international popularity all along. If you go to BestArts, they do statistics on this. Good for both of them. We’ll see who has longevity and album sales, etc., but I expect success for both. Adam is a media magnet and will likely be HUGE, as Kris himself has said he expects Adam to be a “bigger” star. If Kris doesn’t begrudge Adam that, why should anyone else? Agree with others who’ve said they’re being treated like “co-winners” similar to Davids last year. I was a Cook fan and had no problem with that last year and of course am fine about it this year.

  • lulwut

I remember seeing a world chart sorta thing after finale and Kris’ NB and Heartless charted much higher for 2-3 weeks that they stayed in the chart. Kris can sell internationally given the right promotion.

The “international superstar” label that rca and 19e gave Adam is just a label now. Nothing is proved yet whether Adam can really do that. I got the feeling that it is a way to distant Adam from “American” idol, also partly, he is more easily embraced in Europe than US market.

  • an

    this
and i remember that RCA and 19e never gave Adam that “international superstar label”, did i miss something here? Partly i just think he has the potential to be, but about kris to sell internationally? Nah, i don’t think so; for me he is too much pop, nothing really impressive.

  • ross

I would never use the sale of No Boundaries as a popularity meter! Yikes!

Why isn’t it a popularity meter? If you can sell that song, you must be popular.

  • Tess

I had a class in college…many moons ago…concerning advertising, marketing, etc. I remember my professor said that the one thing that will hook a consumer is “numbers” and they are the easiest thing to manipulate to a seller’s advantage. No matter how unbiased someone says they are, personal filters will always play a part.

If we are number freaks we choose data that will usually tip the scales toward the “end” result that we, consciously or sub-consciously, desire.

Personally, I think the tour sets have been set-up by AI to be as “fair” as possible, but the bottom line is that the concert be as close to a sell-out as possible. The AI marketers are very aware of how to “sell” something and they will use what ever market research they can find and will promote their product based on that research. We, as individual consumers, may have our personal problems with the validity of their decisions but they have to make the decisions based on success for their brand.

If one contestant is being highlighted over another for marketing purposes that is strictly a “business” decision. And the contestants and their “sometimes over-zealous fans” better learn to live with it, because that is how the process works. In the entertainment industry and those that follow it, just like in sports, there is no place for the faint of heart or the person who believes that the world should run on fairness.

  • an

    because that song is suck

  • karenw

Seeing as neither version of NB has been given any publicity or marketing internationally (well certainly not here in the UK) I don’t really read too much into international sales at the moment, obviously it will just be people outside of the US who have had some interest in AI who are buying the single at the moment … the real test for international popularity will be when the actual albums come out and receive some sort of publicity outside of the AI bubble.

So saying this I think the “competition” between Adam and Kris post Idol is getting a bit silly .. especially with all of this “hoopla” over number of songs being sung on tour.

Like other posters have said I very much doubt that Adam and Kris feel that they are in competition to prove anything, they’re both completely different types of artists and there’s plenty of room for both of them to achieve all they can in the music industry .. they’ll both no doubt be going down different routes musically so whilst there will always be some sort of chart battle between artists to sell as many records as possible I don’t see them as being in competition. Some people will prefer Kris, some will prefer Adam, some will like both .. hopefully they’ll both sell enough to get a good career in the music business.

I said earlier that I didn’t believe that Adam actually said this. Now I see that it was originally posted at Gossip Candy. It’s confusing though trying to figure out who said what. The writer quotes a poster who quotes a friend of Kris’s mother, etc. Like whisper down the alley. Adam certainly didn’t say it in those words as he never uses bad grammar (as I said before).

This isn’t scientific, but I know Kris has a large number of international fans, from searching him on twitter, and from his website.

I don’t know, but I think if you feel Kris won AI because he’s popular, it makes sense he’s popular in places other that just the US. Why wouldn’t he be? But if you think he won for “other reasons,” as some people do, you might have trouble accepting that he’s actually popular at all, anywhere, even here.

Myself, I’m really not surprised he’s doing well internationally. What appeals to Americans often appeals internationally. And for some reason NB seems to be doing better internationally than here.

By the way, I did see a Neilsen Soundscan listing a week or two ago that showed Kris’s NB at #19 on the Hot Adult Contemporary chart for US radio play (not sales). Just ahead of David Cook’s new single, which was #20. That’s not bad.

I do like the idea of ending with some of Adam’s big notes on Journey – that would be a GREAT way to end the show! (Rehearsals sounded great from him).

Now we need to see Adam in a short-sleeved white t-shirt, blue jeans, and sneakers

I think it would be awesome if Adam and Kris switched clothes! Adam can already rock the plaid (as in the Top 13 home footage), but seeing him in just a white shirt and jeans – I can see him making that incredibly hot!

And Kris with feathers, studs, leather jackets! That would be an awesome combination! A little scary, but really funny.

Interest in Kris has been piqued in other countries because he won. That is natural. It would be very surprising if Kris’s version of “No Boundaries”wasn’t ahead as it’s winner’s song and he has been promoting it. I’ve seen an advert for Kris’ version on the home page of UK itunes, and there has been no publicity for Adam’s at all. I’m surprised it even outsold Kris’s in 10 countries. Plus, Adam’s “Season 8 Favorite Performances” album has been outselling Kris’s in USA and Canada. That’s pretty good going for a runner-up.

Hey, speaking of unfair….if Adam is given the final glory note in the finale Don’t Stop Believing, OMG, that means he’s singing “last” in the concert!! Maybe they need to give those crazy high notes to Kris to sing. Oh no, we’ll have to set up camp on the grassy knoll, lol.

    Kidding, kidding.

Oh my. I am oh so excited to see my hero on august 28th. I am however a wee bit afraid of my own inner fantard. I sometimes omit high pitched girly squeals and jump up and down when Adam sings. I am sure to scare those inthe seats around me. And uhhhhhi don’t care that I live in milwuakee… Danny is gonna have to be my pee break. Saw him live at summerfest grounds fir his homecoming…. NOT PRETTY…

Other countries can see Idol on TV. Interest in him would probably be based on people having seen him on the show. Even if he didn’t win. Acc. to this, AI was seen in 154 countries in 2006. Kris has fans in all the countries where Idol is seen, I’m sure. I didn’t become interested in him because he won, I was already interested, and, I’m sure, so were the international fans.

FWIW, I remember last year feeling as though Archie was being treated as a co-winner. As a Cook fan, I wasn’t thrilled. Now, people say that Adam is being treated as a co-winner, and as an Adam fan, I’m fine with it. Go figure.

I do have to say that as a Cook/Allen fan Archie’s treatment wasn’t nearly what Adam’s is. I just wanted to offer a different perspective here. I’m not complaining, just stating what I see. :)

  • weareallinnocent

Good point of perspective, cookcricket. I suppose now we need to hear from both an Archie/Adam and an Archie/Allen fan to paint a complete canvas. LOL j/k

  • cookcricket

I’d love to see/hear their perspectives. The painting could be entitled CALA. lol also joking. :)

I kind of felt the same way about last year. I always considered Archie would win, and was rather shocked when Cook won, but I knew Archie had TONS of fans (especially judging from the TV reactions during the eps). The crowd response was huge for both, maybe slightly bigger for Archie, and song-wise, though Archie had 4 and Cook had 5, it did feel a bit like they wanted to give Archie a lot of time on stage too due to his popularity.

This time, as an Adam fan, I’m (mostly) fine with the treatment of both. I understand as the “non-winner” Adam shouldn’t overshadow Kris by either getting the same # songs or special treatment, but I also think TPTB know Adam is a big draw, particularly for a live concert, and so are giving him some more attention than they might otherwise.

On tour, I would say the fan reaction for Archie and Cook were about the same. It’s just that you can tell who their fans were from the screams.. haha.. Archie’s fans were more high pitched let’s just say…

When I read comments here, sometimes I laugh a lot seeing how a lot of people view things. One thing we should remember is that, people who go and watch the idol show live are not the only ones who vote. Secondly, this online fans fever cannot be used as a yardstick to measure the popularity of these guys. A lot of people are too busy to sit by the pc to post comments or vote for some online polls. Meanwhile, a lot of these busy people will buy their albums once it comes out. That is why most of the times we end up being dissappointed with the final results. We base the possibility of a contestant winning on the applause from the audience which is very deceptive. finally no one even knows who was getting the most votes throughout the season.

I hate coming here any more. I’m a Kris fan and I’m really excited about his set. I could go to the concert here in LA, but I just don’t want to be around the type of people I’ve ‘seen’ on line.
