Heà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s such a dynamic performer; I absolutely love watching him, and his studio recordings are really great too. I. Love. Him. I totally want him to be my bff.

That is all!

Thanks for the summary and commentary MJ. Always a fun read.

I've never been on the Adam train, but dude! I floved everything about his performance this week. I didn't know he had that in him. Brilliant stuff.

Wow, Michael did SOOOO much better on that song tonight than last night. I hope he was encouraged by the fact that the judges were still debating after he finished. That boy can sang under pressure! imo. Alexis couldn't pull that off last week.

He'll be a great opening for the tour.

I have been a Matt fan all along. I was shocked he was in the bottom two. Somehow he has not connected with the tv audience. Also, because I thought he was safe (although not on top) on DI, I voted more for Kris last night. Having said that, there is some reason I have been calling Michael - Matt. He just hasn't stood out enough for me to remember his name and face for some reason. (hubby keeps correcting me, lol). I believe Matt has a fabulous recording voice and has done a great job on the show. What's lacking? IDK.

Megan or Scott should have gone home, imo. I almost wonder if the judges considered saving Michael (see I almost called him Matt), so they could send those two home next week.

Me thinks Kris is forming a fan base and I like that!!!!!!;)

I guess Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢m just a Matt girl at heart. I liked him from his audition, and even through the disastrous Coldplay debacle - I wanted him to get the wild card spot to redeem himself. Since then heà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s been constantly improving. Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢m really annoyed that TPTB are suddenly showing interest in him, though, since that will probably be the kiss of death for him!

Heh me too. He is soo talented. And sorry he has tons of star quality, last week when he did So Small he looked like he was performing at an awards show rather than a reality competition.
I am worried about this pimping though, poor guy with all my luck he is going to be the shock boot this season. Sigh.. My favorite never wins anyways.
I think Adam is a shoe-in for the finale The question is with whom...

If they let Danny into the finale they want Adam to win. If they let Matt in there he is the only who could challenge Adam and that would be much more interesting.
In any case I pray for Matty that he stays for a long time and keeps proving he is so deserving of praise.
The problem I have with Adam is that I wouldn't buy a record of his ever. He is soo Broadway and I never get a feeling of a real persona with him.
One week he is all weird and egyptian and full makeup and the next he is all toned down and looking like Elvis.
Anyways, in the end the producers will get what they want Adam versus Danny I am sure.

"Danny is not as bad to me as everyone says. He was ok last night. He can sing, and I like the sandpaper edge to his voice. The problem with him is he never rises above good. And he has cheesy instincts. "

You hit it right on the noggin with the cheesy remark and that is why he has been such a front runner this year, so far(not so much on Mj's but he's got some big fans out there somewhere?). This show is and has always been all about the cheese (for the most part) It IS a cheesy show then along comes those that just go against the grain of it, like Adam this year - and oh gosh a whole lot of people are up in arms, he is not a good role model, yadda yadda yadda - this is not Miss America but American Idol and I hope that Adam can break the mold and not be hated for it, he sure has the potential to go far and I hope that he does.

I had to double check, and indeed Danny says (about Smokey), "He's been in the industry longer than me and I trust him."

Sure, Danny trusted him and didn't use the good advice. Result: a lousy performance.

Victoria: I completely understand what you're saying re: Adam perhaps crossing the line in the judges eyes in that scenario, but it doesn't mean I have to like it, haha. I think he should be able to do whatever the heck he wants with Broadway Week, if it does indeed happen. That's the one night where the restrictions on drama and OTT should be gone. :)

Here's links to Daughtry's "softer" performances. Yes, he sang them softly.

What a Wonderful World (it should be noted that he did end up in the bottom 2 during this week, alongside Ace, though a lot of people don't think he was really in the bottom 2. Bottom 3 yes, but a lot of people think it was probably more for the shock factor and/or to exploit his bromance with Ace.)

^ My thoughts exactly! My only worry is that he will be deemed "too musical theatre" or something. They have been fine with him being theatrical, but there is a fine line between that and musical theatre. Doing Broadway songs could result in him crossing it. Other than that, he would own Broadway Week.

Thereà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s a rumor that next weekà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s theme is à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“iTunesà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ which seems a bit vague. Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢m assuming they mean Top 100 songs or something (of which they will clear 12 for the 9 contestants). It sounds pretty sketchy, but I guess weà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ll know in 90 minutes.

He played on the original à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Ainà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t Too Proud to Beg,à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ and in the great documentary à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Standing in the Shadows of Motownà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ he helped recreate that Temps original with Ben Harper doing a killer vocal on the tune. RIP, Uriel. And Ben à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬' show Michael Sarver the way to slay this puppy!

Colette this is sad news. Mr. Jones was scheduled to speak about the film and the history of Motown at a venue in Michigan on April 18. The event has been canceled. There are only four of the Funk Brothers alive. I hope he's passing away will be mentioned.

We know that the mentor sessions are edited, so there may be more critiques we didn't see. Smokey really is the nice guy we see.

I suppose getting rid of two girls two weeks in a row may be a bit too much. However, Megan needs to go home.

Thank you, MJ for your review!

>>Dingo - Have you forgotten Normund so quickly? >>

LOL jp, I am pretty fickle at times and yeah, I did forget about my Normund but thats cause Adam has the power. Now Im all melancholy over Normund, I loved him and I so wanted to hear him sing cause I know he had a decent voice underneath the schtick but comedy is where his heart is and music is where mine is. We had to break up.

Thank you to all who enjoyed my post, there are fewer compliments to be made imo than those who read the words you type and respond to them.

As for Adam, its a strange thing this whole Idol business. I am easily exciteable but rarely am I moved. By that I mean it takes a somethin' special to really touch me, to move me and to make me sort of wake up from this life that sometimes I feel as if Im sleep walking through. For me its in the music and if your lucky, every now and then a singer/musician/performer comes along and knocks you off your feet, throws you off your axis and shakes you up in a good way.

Maybe its the long cold winter, maybe its just life doing its thing, maybe Im bored with my own life but whatever it is Adam makes me feel alive and he makes me want to watch and the anticipation of what he might do on stage is almost thrilling. Plus, for me, there is something in his eyes thats a little sad. Im sure he has had his share of "obstacles". We all have, its just that he's just a kid and as a woman my mothery instincts want to come out and do some protecting whether he needs it or not.

I really like this kid. A lot. And Im always greatful to the fates that they have allowed me to enjoy this kind of talent because in my musical lifetime, I have been blessed to have had many outstanding singers rock my world and Im happiest when Im being rocked.

To those who disagree with me on Adam, thats ok, its hard for me to explain what it is that draws me to him or what it is that makes me feel as I do about him. Thats part of the magic. We each have that soft vulnerable spot in us that attracts us to different people for different reasons. Its all good.

>>Dingo – Have you forgotten Normund so quickly? >>

LOL jp, I am pretty fickle at times and yeah, I did forget about my Normund but thats cause Adam has the power. Now Im all melancholy over Normund, I loved him and I so wanted to hear him sing cause I know he had a decent voice underneath the schtick but comedy is where his heart is and music is where mine is. We had to break up.

Thank you to all who enjoyed my post, there are fewer compliments to be made imo than those who read the words you type and respond to them.
