American Idol: The Top 11 Weigh in On Jermaine Jones’ Disqualification (VIDEO)

The American Idol 11 top 11 weigh in on the disqualification of Jermaine Jones. Did they really not know the full details of situation until the show aired? How could they miss the uproar online yesterday?  Watch the Access Hollywood interviews below.

The group all had kind words and sympathy for their fallen comrade, and they all agreed the producers handled the situation in the right way.

Heejun Han told The Hollywood Reporter that if he had a dark past, he might have lied to producers, “The only thing you had to do was be honest about it and say what happened to your life. I would’ve done the same thing as Jermaine, because it’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and you don’t want to ruin it by saying the wrong things.”

Erika Van Pelt called the situation “weird” in light of the thorough background checks the contestants go through, “It was so extensive, which is another reason why we were so shocked and confused that this was all of a sudden surfacing.”

Joshua Ledet, who was Jermaine’s roommate, tells EOnline, “It was devastating for us. We just knew something was up because he wasn’t around.”

And on a lighter note–in that E article I linked, when Heejun was asked about Randy’s negative critique after his performance last night, he said, “Randy can shove it up his ass.”  He was kidding of course!  “It’s a contest. We can’t please everyone. Clearly, I couldn’t please Randy. I have lots of stuff that I want to say Randy, too, like, “Today you are wearing something that’s totally wrong for Wednesday.'”
