I have heard and seen every interview of Michael Johns. Where this self-entitlement is coming from I have never seen it. His interviews are hilarious and he is so humble. You can tell the interviewers just love him..he is just fun to talk to. And you can tell he hates it when they ask him the same stupid questions over and over again..but, he obliges them. Michael is a sweetheart and if you followed him you would know that already!

So, yes I was totally shocked at is elimination…I can think of seven that was way worse then him.

I just donÃƒ ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t see it as self-entitlement when the guy has the talent if not the work ethic to try to earn any of the success he gets and back up the self-belief. And I also think IÃƒ ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢m not alone in that observation.

Phil Stacey is far from being a douche and surprised and grateful for having made it as far as he has. He has himself said that there were others better than he that were cut back in Memphis. He called it right concerning David Cook winning the title and even predicting where the winner would audition (Omaha), and I think he is right here, too. The link below shows him and Melinda at a charter school in the Florida panhandle. mj, if it does not show up, can you please correct it? Thanks! Their next appearance with the tour is tonight in Panama City. Go, my 2 season 6 favorites. :biggrin_wp:

I don’t even find Michael’s elimination all that shocking. Sure, he was never in the bottom 3 prior to his boot ie Brooke, KLC and Syesha, but Brooke has had 3 good performances that has been ingrained in my memory before the top 12 (You’re So Vain, LIAB and Let It Be) and because of that she had built an early strong fanbase. KLC had the worsters backing her up LOL and as for Syesha, I’m still scratching my head on how she had survived the bottom 3 week after week.

As for Michael, I’ve forgotten what songs he had sung before top 12 and the only performance that really stood out for me from him was IAWBIAR. And he was the first to perform during the week he got booted. So no… not surprised that he got booted.

As a fan of Michael’s opinionated self, I’m all for standing by one’s views;) But Phil ain’t awesome–he’s the annoying douche for being a jealous hater who thinks too highly of himself instead of giving props to this season’s best contestants!!! I keed, I keed, of course.

It would be hilarious if someone they save this week gets eliminated in the double elimination anyway.

Haha. Which is why you’re right–the save is dumb. I’m curious if fans of the other so-called ‘shock boots’ even like or appreciate this rule. Of course, Daughtry and JHud fans as big as those two are now, don’t really care. But most MJ fans aren’t also thinking, ‘I wish they had this last year’ or ‘Thank god for the save, so what happened last season won’t happen to us again’ with their new favorite. Now I don’t know about Tamyra fans. I still have no favorite this season so I’m also wondering how other fans would feel if the rule was used on someone they like. I’m sure there’d be short-term relief but how they feel about it would eventually depend on the later outcome of the show and the kind of post-AI success the contestant gets.

Er, was not trying to change your opinion, just sayin how I saw it but ohhkaaayyy, lol. Anyway about the save, I thought it’s interesting that some fans think the judges are likely not gonna use it and that maybe the idea is to keep viewers wondering and tuning in if they will. Other than for the producers’ benefit, I still don’t get the merit of this rule change for the fans or contestants.

It’s good if he thinks he’s good…he should. But he has this arrogant way about it… I think he’s lacking graciousness, for the most part. Again that’s just the way I see him.

I really liked him during the show too…he seemed like a nice, easygoing, cool guy. But as I saw more interviews of him after his boot, that POV quickly changed. He just really comes across as extremely self-entitled for me…and it looks like I’m not alone in that observation.

I don’t see anything wrong with aspiring artists believing they’re good; otherwise they’re in the wrong business. And to be fair, this perceived ‘attitude’ of Michael serves him well so far (well except he’s likely never gonna be liked by the same few who hate him in the first place LOL). If him thinking he’s better than he actually was on the show seems to be making him one of the more hardworking ex-Idols I’ve seen, then it’s cool. He’s doing okay and I’m sure his ambition only helps him take charge of his career. I doubt he’s been regularly booked for high-profile gigs just because he plays the shock boot card to the hilt. Besides, I’ve always liked that he seems to have struck the perfect balance in dealing with AI fans– nice and not dismissive but never in the too-familiar, crossing-the-line way. The same can’t be said for a lot of ex-Idols. So no, still not douchey for me at all.

To stay more on topic: I do agree that the save is not a good idea. It’s also likely to create some backlash against the one saved, especially among fans of other contestants who won’t benefit from it. But maybe that’s precisely what AI wants– more drama. Most contestants actually benefit more from a shock boot (as Michael did); only TPTB are probably tired of that storyline.

That is an amazingly accurate statement. LOL.

I think that he stayed too long mainly because I never enjoyed any of his performances. Some were less bad than others. Most just sucked. Lots of bad song choices.

He wasn’t nearly as good as he apparently thought he was. LOL.

I hope that the judges never use the “save” this season. I can’t see that turning out well.
