I think the Grand Ole Opry theme is a smart way to have a country theme week. I like that.

Why would they have a Michael Jackson week AND a Motown week? Couldn’t they just feature Michael Jackson songs during Motown week??

Most of Michael Jackson’s stuff isn’t Motown. Maybe some of the Jackson 5 stuff is, but that’s about it. I am kind of excited about MJ week, to be honest.

That’s true, but so what. They shouldn’t do both themes in the same season then. If they do have Michael Jackson week, I hope MJ appears on the show! Wasn’t he just supposedly on his death bed a few weeks ago?

I think I can get behind an MJ week too. Wonder if they’ll confirm this soon.

I think it’s weird how they consistently have advised the singers NOT to try and “do a Michael song”, yet it’s a theme. How many times are we going to hear “it’s not even close to the original”, “It’s karaoke”, “It’s a copycat version”.

I hope they all take a cue from David Cook and REALLY change the arrangements up.

MJ week should be amazing!! I’m thinking there will be some hilarious crash and burns and then some spectacular performances. Should be fun! That one is next week or no?

There’s so much fodder in the Top 13 this year, I’m expecting some excruciating performances in the early weeks. The tour should be a very interesting experience too. *shudder*

I have to admit MJ week sounds kinda cool. I think there is enough variation in musical approaches with this group to make things interesting. MJ has a catalog of great pop songs that can be switched up nicely.

I am officially on board with this season.

Ok, I am thinking an MJ week shall bring some entertainment a la Mariah Carey week last year. All the contestants are in the same boat, so it’s not like they can say you shouldn’t have sung MJ. Crappy part being that Kris already decided to go out on a limb with the MJ song. He’ll have to find another that he can do just as well.

I like the idea of MJ week too. But it’s funny cause the judges have said before how they don’t really like when contestants do MJ… it’s like Mariah last season.

Should be interesting anyway. And it’s someone I’m familiar with, which is also good in my book.

I’m O.K. with Motown week and they actually gave them a great list of songs for Grand Ole Opry week. If Megan is still around, she could kill on a lot of those songs and Please, oh Please Adam, please sing Last Name…Heh…

Back in Season 3, when TPTB were gunning for a female R&B singer, they had a Motown AND a Soul week.

This year they’re going for a blue-eyed soul boy. Expect many variations on the same theme. .

Adam should do this Michael Jackson song. Cool beat and the ending is all Lambert. But I don’t know if he has time for any buildup.

MJ week could be great. From Michaels catalog you can have rock, pop, and R&B. It would not be as limited a one might think. I would pay serious dollars to hear Adam sing Dirty Diana or The Way You Make Me Feel! Crotch rubs and tattered shirts FTW!

The group song could be PYT! Pointy poses, and na na nas! It would be a coup if he would mentor. Jorge would cry I am sure. I know he’s about to tour, this could spark some interest in this season. He was looking hale and hearty at his press conference yesterday, so he isn’t at death’s door.

Michael Jackson week? Hm… really? Usually when someone picks a Michael Jackson song it doesn’t turn out well. (unless you’re David Cook) I’m curious how next week is going to turn out.

I’m laughing at the possibility of someone picking “Smooth Criminal” or “Bad” or anything else that might turn out horrible. But I can see someone picking “Thriller” and tweaking it out. Hm… who knows.

ITA that these are likely. In fact, I’d be shocked if I Will Always Love You didn’t get performed. But I think we might get some Patsy Cline — Crazy is a great song, wouldn’t be surprised to hear it at all. And it’s not pure country, so it’d translate well for all these non-country artists. I think the boys are going to have a harder time finding stuff to sing than the girls. Garth Brooks’ Low Places would be hilarious. Just saying.

The Wes Carr video made me realize that Kris Allen needs to do an upbeat MJ number because the boy can dance!

I hope someone attempts the Alien Ant Farm version of Smooth Criminal. I actually could see Michael, Matt G. or Anoop taking a shot at it. Adam would kill it, but it’s probably too repetitive to get the judges’ love and the melody isn’t very challenging.

With his incredibly insane range, I prefer Adam to sing Never Can Say Goodbye or Got to Be There.

I have to agree with most people who has posted here saying that no one should have attempted BJ. Even if they did the song justice, doing his/her own arrangement but they will still be compared to the original and DC/CC version no matter how and what is more important is they are less likely to be able to create “The Moment” DC has created last year when he sing BJ.

I still can’t forget the goosebump and the kind of feeling i get when i watched DC performed BJ. I think not only me, but a lot of AI viewer would have the same thought as mine. DC is not my favourite in the early stage of S7 but after he performed BJ, i watched S7 every week just to see what he’s going to do next and then become a fan until to-date.

No one come close to DC thus far, not even come close to DA, MJ or Carly. Hope i will get some surprise on MJ week, i mean a good one.

I can actually see Adam working out just fine with Season 7. Sorry, that’s about it.

I want this group from Season 8 to meet each and every challenge brought forth. The truly talented ones will emerge regardless of the theme!
